Calabash Hut in Northampton

My order never arrived and got some shocking response from a mobile call after I’d rung the restaurant numerous times and no answer for this lady to tell me ‘listen the shop closes at 9 and I sent it out with a delivery driver’ 2 hours ago! Joke

I had a delightful experience ordering from this restaurant. The flavours were exceptional, especially the curried goat, which was tender and deliciously spiced. The rice and peas complemented the dish perfectly, and the plantain was cooked to perfection with a subtle sweetness. The dumplings were a fantastic addition, crispy on the outside and soft inside. The delivery was top-notch. I am definitely planning to order again soon! Highly recommend!

Outstanding!! Ive tried a lot of Carribean restaurants in Northampton and this is by far the best. Delivery took a while but you don't care about that when you have fresh food and everything was fresh, hot and the favourite is something else!!

I had the brown stew chicken and it was wonderful! Very tasty and portion sizes were generous and very friendly Staff, I highly recommend and will be ordering from again 🩷

First time calling. Spoke to a lady and stated home delivery please. She responded very rudely and abrupt I was shocked!!! She stated We only deliver in NN2 we have no driver!!! . Ok where is your customer service skills ?She should have responded a bit more politely . First time calling and straight away wrong impression. Won’t be ordering from here again. Good luck with business if that’s how you greet customers. Bad day or not sometime we have to keep it together.

I would be embarrassed to call this Caribbean food worse food I’ve had from Northampton it went straight in the bin tasteless is an understatement how you even charge people for this! I asked for steamed cabbage I got microwave mix veg! No seasoning at all! Will never order again

Salt fish fritters were very tasteless, stodgy and oily. Couldn’t eat it :( Also, lady behind the counter was not inviting at all.

Food was very nice but the curry was a little bitter I think it’s too much turmeric but could be wrong

Me and my family have eaten many times from the Calabash Hut and never had a bad experience! The portion size is very generous and the food is piping hot on delivery. I seriously doubt there is any other place that does Caribbean food as delicious as this… each dish is beautifully flavoured and feels like it feeds your soul! The chefs relatives are blessed. Added bonus… the staff are lovely too and will even give advice on where to get your car rims fixed at a decent price 😊

Travelled up from Kent and met this amazing lady (owner)and bought a couple of meals - wow she runs tings when it comes to her curry goat and rice - excellent quality of food - extremely generous portions Very friendly very helpful, I most definitely without question highly recommend this little gem of a find to anyone who loves good authentic Caribbean food Shame I live so far away but I’m definitely going to her when I’m next in Northampton Please support this wonderful lady’s business

Was so disappointed. Food was tasteless. Even down to the dumplings. Curry goat was swimming in oil. We had to chuck a lot of it away. Rice tasted like it had been defrosted and reheated, such a shame. Won’t be revisiting

5 stars all around for Calabash Hut. My favourite Caribbean. I’ve tried other places and the quality don’t compare. I also love their homemade carrot juice (with rum). The owners are very sweet people who make you feel welcome. Great place run by great people. 😊

Food was all micro waved not one bit was fresh goat was microwaved and made to taste funky amd jurk wings micro waved and covered in tomato sauce which was disgusting, fried chicken was cold and seemed too tough to be fresh cooked so therefore microwave used only things to tast fresh was festival’s dumplings was re heated aswell total waste of 38£ will not be ordering again you should of stuck to cooking at home since you’ve opened your shop you have gone down hill , big mikes is by far the best

Asked for a large chips and the chips we received was More like a small chips then anything not happy with that and ordered two portions of plantain and only got one portion but everything els was filing Mac and cheese amazing like normal

Stopped here whilst visiting Northampton from Cambridge and discovered this fantastic place. The rice and peas was DELICIOUS and the curry goat had alot of tender well seasoned meat. The dumplings were fluffy and golden and the festivals are HUGE! The jerk wings had authentic flavours but was a litte bit dry (more sauce next time please 😊) The service has left a lasting impression on me, the owner Lance is such a sweet soul, he's delightful and very hospitable. It really felt like I was visiting family as I ate my food and chatted away with him about Jamaica 🇯🇲 Overall a wonderful experience and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for authentic Jamaican food. 5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Appalling service. We used to order regularly but won’t be anymore. Ordered at 19:17, asked for an update at 20:50 was told it was on the way. At 21:23 (Over 2 hours) late then cancelled with no explanation, no answer when we called. Will not be coming back.

I had the curried goat and oxtail and beans and it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. Portions were massive too. Would definitely recommend, certainly the best carribean food in Northampton.

Way better than Caribbean dutchpot, delicious curry goat and oxtail was so tender. Large portions worth the price will be ordering again. I ordered the oxtail with rice and peas, Mac and cheese and a lamb patty. Enjoyed every bite of it. Note to the delivery man - make sure to take that trip to Ghana, you won’t regret it!

I’m not happy it took two hours to receive my food. Eating as late as I did impacted the experience and my entire evening starting my weekend off on the back foot. I received a notification saying the order was en route but nothing for 45 minutes which resulted in me calling and unfortunately wasn’t filled with confidence after getting off the phone. We did receive a free cake but ultimately the damage was done and I’m only feeding back to hope you see this and reverse engineer the problem that
