Really great can’t fault it Cakes and coffee 10/10

Fabulous place for socialising. Done breakfast and lunch here, food and coffee are great but the staff are wonderful. Super friendly and they create the lovely atmosphere.

Visited with 86 year old mum for a coffee and cake. Cakes were fab, and we were enjoying a quiet afternoon, when an unavoidable situation occurred. A gig was planned to start in the outdoor are around closing time, but as the heavens opened in a big way the gig had to be very suddenly brought inside. Despite the hectic situation no one made us feel in the way (even tho we were) and staff continued to be helpful when we needed it! Disabled toilet is great, only thing missing is a chair with arms - people with bad backs and dodgy knees appreciate a chair with arms in a cafe! Thanks to staff for the hospitality even in the face of adversity!

Thank you to the lovely staff for a really enjoyable and relaxing visit. Delicious food, superb surroundings, plus a spot on take away ice coffee and cakes. Will be back. Highly recommend. 😄

Great little spot for a coffee and cake

Been here a few times and it's so nice! The choice of food is good and the food itself is tasty and fresh. The sciracha tater tots are particularly good. The selection of drinks is also really good and I definitely recommend the chai latte. The atmosphere and decoration is fantastic and I really like the outside space too; this is necessary as the place gets so busy! Staff have been really nice every time I've been and I'll definitely be going back.

Tiny piece of sourdough with topping. Rest of plate some salad leaves for £10 each . Bread very thin.waited quite a while and order came incorrect. Knives all dirty. Given a free drink. Like a different business to Jesmond.wont be back.

Nice place for coffee in the morning

Been wanting to come here for 9-10 months with a friend. We finally had a day we were both free. Lovely little place. We booked for afternoon tea. Very accommodating for me as a veggie and my friend who is gluten free. Also kindly let my friend have fresh juices rather than tea. We were both pleased with the selection on our cake stands and in fact I was defeated and had to ask for a box to take cake home. Will definitely be back.

Cake and coffee what else do you need in life, apart from animals.

First time at Cake Stories and I can't wait to go back. I love that they have a great selection of loose leaf teas, the food (afternoon tea) was great, when I booked I mentioned that our kids were coming, so they made sure there was options for them too. The staff were all lovely and friendly, we were sat near the service area, the place was packed but all customers were treated like friends they were happy to see. I can't wait to go again and try some of the other amazing looking food and teas!

Amazing (and large) cakes, Super tasty coffee and amazing friendly people who work there. The Sea salt brownie was out of this world and the Oreo cake was unbelievable . it's such a nice vibrant atmosphere inside and we will Definitely be back soon

Cake Stories not only have cakes, but do extremely good toasted ciabattas, at very reasonable prices.and sandwiches, as well as really great coffee. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. This was only my second visit, but will be back again.

What a lovely coffee shop! Loved it. Food was fresh, lovely quality and great coffee. So much choice of food from sweet treats to savoury and wholesome dishes. Great atmosphere, lovely staff. Also our dog loved it! Hands up to it being dog friendly. First time visiting, We will be back !

Delightful little cafe. We visited Cake Stories on a rainy Saturday and it was the perfect place to retreat from the misery of the weather. The space is beautifully decorated with a wonderful display of paper lantern light covers in different colours. The space felt warm and inviting. There is extra seating outside, ideal for warmer/drier days. We purchased: 1 x Monster Brownio 1 x Peanuts Butter Cookie Dough 1 x Flat White 1 x Italian Stallion Sandwich 1 x San Pellegrino Orange Total: £19.20 The Monster Brownio was beautifully flavoured and perfectly balanced with the butter icing. Not at all sickly. The Italian Stallion Sandwich was again very nice, the pesto and sourdough bread were particularly good. All in all, Cake Stories is a pleasant experience and well worth a visit, even if just for its brilliant selection of cakes. Oh and it's dog friendly.

Rude service. The guy who serves the table is unprofessional and I think he doesn't have a clue on how to deal with customers. I dropped a glass of water on the floor, I asked for help from the same guy and he said I come in a minute, but after 1 hour and half the water was still on the floor. I asked for serviettes but he didn't want to give me. The girl instead gave me the blue roll. The kitchen needs to be informed that when you serve bacon sandwiches, you can't send frozen sandwiches with 2 small slice of bacon. The place is very cold. I won't be back there. My advice is: change staff or at least train them before is too late.

Went for afternoon tea as a group of 12 at Hoults Yard. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was amazing. When I booked, I didn't realise 2 people were vegetarian, but Cake Stories made sandwiches/cakes that were applicable with no issues. They had to cancel original booking due to staff sickness, so only charged us 50%, I would definitely recommend 👌

The coffee was cold, there were no lids, tables weren't cleaned and sadly they wouldn't serving hot food half past 1, but someone else came in and they ordered the panini's we originally asked for and they were able to order. Seems really unfair so we were only able to get coffee.

Coffee was nice and strong with a lovely flavour. The cake was firm yet deliciously soaked with blood orange. Will come back soon

Quick visit after hearing so much about it from High Life North's posts and bought all the gluten free cake flavours available! (They're all delicious too) Received great service and love that they're dog friendly as well! Highly recommend!

Lovely spot, perfect for cake and coffee but they also have more substantial food like waffles, sandwiches and soup, and were really flexible with substitutions. I can recommend all their flavoured mochas, iced teas and the Oreo Monster cake! But really I've never had a bad meal here. Also nice outside and inside seating and never too busy!

Amazing little gem of a cafe. Gorgeous cakes and a great cup of coffee. Sandwiches also looked lovely and we'll be back to sample them at a later date 😍

Rather lovely actually! They were full so we ended up sitting outside in a cabin, in armchairs with blankets. Chilly yes, but this Southern lass has learned to be made of sterner stuff and it was bearable. The food was delicious. I had chicken, chorizo, rocket, mayo and Dijon mustard sourdough sandwich (size of my head), a Nutella blondie (sadly not the size of my head) and a chai latte. Off the beaten track but somewhere I will actively choose to go back to. And being dog friendly outside, someone may be in for a pupaccino...

After receiving a response from the venue, I am now happy to adjust my review to 5 stars. Baby changing / child friendly facilities are a deal breaker to a lot of people and would put them off attending somewhere, even if the food staff are brilliant. It is however good to see when a venue takes on board customer feedback and makes changes to make their venue more accessible and improve the customer experience. I would therefore like to thank you for making these changes. It will be lovely to return in the next few weeks and try them out and I hope others do the same. It’s such a good location / easily accessible for parking for any parents with babies to meet up and have a chat, especially during the week when others are at work.

Went for afternoon tea. Not great unfortunately. Scones were dry and cakes overly sweet and we weren't sure what flavor they were meant to be. Sandwiches were good. Definitely looks better than it tastes. Service was friendly

Unfortunately like a lot of things here looks better than it tastes. Leathery flat bread (microwaved?) covered in overpowering cabbage pickle instead of salad and slightly bland kofta.

After waiting at table for 20 mins, had to ask where our order was. It had fallen on the floor in the chaos behind the counter! Really cold inside too, not a good visit.

Best Cakes in the North East! Also a cup of Latte here is heaven, you just want to go back! Very much recommended!

We didn’t even get close to finishing the afternoon tea but we gave it a very good go! The cake is good and plentiful.

We were 5 for a cofre and it’s was closed before time , it was 5 pm o’clock and they supposed to close at 6.00 😥😥

The creation of the brownios is one of their best, especially the salted caramel one! I could eat this every day.

Excellent cake and hot chocolate. lovely place to sit outside and relaxed. However a warning to everyone. you MUST pay to park. not very clear and I think it must be pay using your phone. just got a £100 parking fine, reduced to £60 if paid quickly. turns out very expensive Saturday afternoon for a piece of cake and hot chocolate

Lovely place, gorgeous cakes and amazing staff

Amazing staff extremely helpful and friendly. Great knowledge of the cakes they sell and able to help with any questions asked. They have a lovely area inside and out for anyone to sit for a while. The lights look amazing inside and outside has 2 pods that you can sit inside of and enjoy your time. Can't wait to go back again a great treat after ghetto golf since its just across the path.
