We came here with 3 young teens for lunch. Food was really tasty and very reasonable priced. Nice touch with complimentary tea, coffee and cake for desert too. Will definitely be back when we head to Newcastle

Pre-booked as we’re visiting the Arena nearby. Menu extensive, staff were polite and attentive. Food delicious and the portions were very generous considering the prices! Realised we didn’t need a starter AND a main as we couldn’t finish! No alcohol is served here but they do make fresh fruit juices on request. Restaurant became busy later on which is a testament to the quality of food. Recommended!

I was staying in Newcastle overnight and wanted something a little different to the usual pasta/ pizza/ Indian restaurant for my evening meal. Alsham was not too far from my hotel and knowing how tasty Lebanese food is, I decided to visit. I received a warm welcome and was shown to a table with a great view of the indoor fountain. I didn’t realise at the time but I gather that this restaurant has relocated fairly recently from the city centre. The food is absolutely divine! My meal was so tasty, the chicken melting in the mouth and everything cooked to perfection. I did my best to eat it all but the portion was so generous I just couldn’t manage it all. Wow!!. As other reviews say… make sure you are hungry!!. The food tastes and is presented amazing. Lovely friendly staff, the only negative is as we were out for an evening meal we would like the lights to be a bit more ambient, there are lovely hanging pendant lights which would have been great to see creating light on their own. Me and my girlfriend, went today to enjoy a nice Arabic meal. The service was excellent, and the food was amazing. I will definitely be going back here with out even thinking about it. Being a Jordanian the food tasted great, and honestly reminded me of home a little. The hummus was fantastic, and knowing the quality of grocery store hummus, this was miles better. Gets my 5 star rating, and I know as a fact that if you come here you’ll enjoy it.

Excellent food and service. We watched the pitta bread come out of the oven - a great performance. We definitely will be returning. Don't forget if you pick up a loyalty card you get 10% discount on already reasonable prices.

Don't be put off by the exterior and give it a try. The food and service were excellent. Mezze, fatoush, taboulet and kofta amongst the dishes ordered. All very reasonably priced. Enjoy!

This was only our second visit and for the rest of the party their first. Always keen to give people the opportunity to epigrams their horizons and dining experience, I was quite pleased that no-one had any suggestions for an unscheduled lunch. We went for the lunchtime special menu which have a fair choice at the same time as enabling us to reach order something different and then share them across the group, giving all the opportunity to try different flavours for possible future visits. Even the generally less adventurous in our group, enjoyed what they tried and have said they'd happily return. Obviously that was always the result that i hoped for. We all commented on and enjoyed the smoked rice accompaniment too the chicken. Needles to say I'm sure that we will return and for myself happy to recommend with a warm welcome and some tasty food, of course with mint tea, rather than a can of fizzy pop (although an option who is reluctant to have the tea).

My wife and I love Lebanese food. We were walking down to Eldon Square from St. James' Park so this was a great place to stop off for lunch.

So glad that I’ve found this restaurant! I’ve been wanting to find a nice Lebanese restaurant in Newcastle for ages. The food is lovely! They cook it in front of you and it’s so clean. The wraps are amazing! And they come with chips and the portions are big. The bread is fresh and tastes amazing! And I highly recommend the spicy potatoes. I’ll defiantly be back. Also they gave us some free Cardamom tea and a dessert! Which I found was cute. As well as two free cute heart shaped Falafel’s which tasted absolutely amazing. 10/10 recommend.

The food at this place is nice, but they have 2 menus with totally different prices on them, one is takeaway prices and one is to eat in. They will greet you when you go in and if you say you want a takeaway they will ask if you want to sit at a table to look at the menu, they give you the eat in menu and charge you the higher rates to take out!

The restaurant is very good, only needed to add the lamb shawarma. I most eat the lamb, but because there's no this dish that is why am not going there. Now this is the time they must consider the above dish.

Went for lunch for second time. Portions smaller, salad at £4.50 was a joke, no milk pudding. Worryingly, a man in street clothes was behind the salad counter helping himself with his bare hands. Not good. I shall not be back.

Ordered some food through UberEats to the Robinson Library (I'm a student doing my exams) and it has picked my mood up so much. As always the food was amazing! I asked if they could swap the sauce in my wrap for tzatziki sauce and they did so without charge, and they even through in a free mhalbeh (which I adore) just to top it off. Was exactly what I needed to help with revision blues!

Not a planned visit, just called in on spec for a quick lunch. Staff were friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. We chose different meals and both of them were very good and tasty. I like this anyway but for anyone who has not tried mine tea, then why not give it a go, very refreshing. The dessert to share at the end was also a nice touch and reminiscent of something eaten in childhood, many more years ago than would like to admit. Recommended and would be very surprised if we do not return in the future.

I was visiting Newcastle for a few days and found this place on trip advisor. The staff were really friendly and the food was authentic middle eastern nosh. Well seasoned lamb and chicken. Lovely chilli sauce and tahini sauce. Also got a little falafel taster for free and a mint tea plus a lovely milk pudding at the end. 10% service charge to eat in, but still it was very good value. Bread was so thin and gorgeous. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

We visited Alsham after a few drinks and some late night shopping in town. We love Lebanese food, and have been meaning to visit for a while.

This is the second time we have visited here. The first time was the better as the atmosphere and staff were excellent. On both occasions the food was lovely. I ordered the chicken wrap on the first visit and the other half had the mixed grill on both visits. On the second visit I ordered the lamb wrap and my daughter had the chicken wrap both served with chips. The lamb wrap even though tasty had very little lamb in it, the pieces were chopped very small to make the lamb go further. The lamb on the other halfs mixed grill was a very small portion compared to our first visit. We asked for a salad of just lettuce cucumber and tomato and was charged £4:50 (expensive).

Visited here whilst walking past today, we were on our way elsewhere but we're drawn in by the menu. For starters we ordered falafel with tahini dip and also baked halloumi, when these came they were served with a portion each of garlic and chilli sauce and a basket of freshly made flatbread which smelled wonderful!

This was my husband's and my first visit to Alsham, following a recommendation and we were not disappointed at all. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and we were seated promptly and felt very well looked after. The restaurant has a good choice of different dishes, all reasonably priced and the portions are large. I had the hummus and the mixed chicken grill and some apple tea. The food was outstanding! I am a big fan of this kind of cuisine so I had high expectations which were definitely met. I will definitely return and can fully recommend this restaurant.

Visited based on a recommendation and we were not disappointed! We were welcomed and seated promptly, given plenty of time to peruse the excellent menu. The decor is beautiful! We made our order and were given the option to either receive everything at once or by course - I love having this option! The food is all freshly prepared and of the highest standard. I have had the pleasure of eating middle eastern food before but never Lebanese food. In a word - wow! There is a good choice of food and the portions are very generous. The bill for four people with starters, mains and drinks was £84.33 which was worth every penny. We also got some complementary cardamom and mint tea plus a small dessert to share. I honestly think that this restaurant is an absolute hidden gem and for me; must be one of the finest restaurants in Newcastle.

My Partner and I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and it never disappoints. The home made flat breads and humous are lovely, as is the falafel and schwarma. We love the mango juice! Its our favourite, literally a mango blitzed in the blender! Really good value and the staff are so friendly! Would definitely reccomend!

My husband and I went to Alsham for our anniversary. I love Lebanese food and has high expectations, which were promptly met. The food was outstanding. I loved how all the dishes came out almost at once, which gave it a more genuine feel. My husband and I had the Al Sham Mixed Grill, the smoked Arayes and the hummus. Everything was fantastic. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The restaurant gets very busy (after all it was only a Tuesday evening) so booking a table is definitively advised. I will certainly be back and bring some friends, too. شك

This was my second time to Alsham the first time I went I had the Lamb Okra and it was the most amazing dish. I had the chicken Tijan this time and it didn't disappoint. Probably the best Lebanese food you are going to find around. The food is very frest and is just amazing well worth a visit.

Place was pretty busy at lunch so we stopped by for a snack. Had Baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, lentil soup and lamb chops. Really a lot of high quality food, All for less than £30.00. Great kitchen for barbeque ans btead cooked fresh on site. Quite close to St. James' park so great for match days and shopping. Will definitely be back...

We visited Alsham on a busy Saturday night but got shown to a table quickly. The food was very fresh and cooked to order in full view for customers to see. The lamb was very good and the lovely fresh bread a real treat. The building could do with a refurb, the toilets are quite a walk downstairs past the stock rooms! We couldn't fault the food. There is no alcohol available.

Restaurant was empty so did not need to reserve a table. Very clean and tidy restaurant. Service was very prompt and efficient with one waiter as restaurant soon filled up.

Very bad experience... We've been waiting for an hour for our food and another three tables were been served before us even is they arived after us. They offered us some hummus to apologise for the long wait and more because the kid was hungry... Apart from this on the website menu is specified alsham mixed grill with chips or rice and we paid for the chips because the menu from the restaurant doesn't have the same offer... I asked for the water and I didn't receive it, very bad service! And careful with their delivery service, another bad experience with them in the past, our order arrived at another adress... But the food is ok.

Alsham is one of those kinds of places that, once you have been you will not forget it and will want to have a reason to go again soon. From the warmth of the welcome from the staff through to the delivery of the authentic Middle Eastern food served with style and speed everything was just what we wanted on our late night feast. The sizzling chicken served with a lime and spinach sauce was a wonder to behold.

We both love Middle Eastern cuisine & have been aiming to visit this place for a few months. We were seated immediately and our order was taken & food appeared very quickly. Extremely helpful & polite staff, excellent food & service, very reasonably priced & spotless restaurant. They do take away too so my husband has instructions to bring some home after work. Heartily recommend the Hummus, Kabbeh Bil Laban, Biriyani chicken & the dessert of Mhalbeh with rose syrup.

To be honest the quality of food is good, however, the prices are extremely expensive compared to other similar restaurants. Small portion sizes of food are served in the restaurant. They also provide a fake discount for students, for example if you ask for a student discount they first add 10% service charge and then deduct 10% from your bill ( which means, their discount is 0%). Before leaving the restaurant please check your bill especially if you are a tourist.

Went here with a few friends and family before my wedding. The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious and there was more than enough of it! Could barely move by the end. I got a mango lassie which was really good and the others on the table got other traditional drinks. Will be back!

Venturing out for evening meal on a weekend away is usually enjoyable. The late winter blast from the east made it less so. Warm welcome in this restaurant though. Really enjoyed the food we had. The hummus and bread starters were superb. The main courses were just fabulous. My lamb tajin was really suited to the cold night and my partner's chicken shish was lovely. Both plates were big portions. Still had room for the milk pudding on the house and the cardamom tea. Authentic Lebanese food made me miss the sunshine. I didn't think that it was too expensive either.

The food is tasteless and the price is very expensive for nothing. They also take a service charge which is absolutely ridiculous for the quality of the food. We ordered 2 shawarma and we’ve been served a kebab with a large portion of pickles and fluorescent vegetables (well, I think it was vegetables). We paid more than £40 for 2 tasteless meat, simple fries, pickles, vegetables and a awful cocktail. I definitely won’t come back!

Met up with ex colleagues for a catch up at Alsham one Friday evening. Not that busy when we arrived at 6.30 but that quickly changed. Huge choice on the menu, we went for the Lamb tahini which was really tasty. Had the hummus and balloon bread as a starter with chilli dip which was was very good. Been visiting Alsham several times with my friends and family. Really love the staff and services as usual. My personal favourite dish would be the hummus and bread, and Briyani chicken with rice.

Visited on numerous occasions and have never left disappointed. I get the shawarma wrap or the chicken arabi and they are both consistently enjoyable meals and good quality. The prices for other dishes are greater however. The service in Alsham is brilliant and you get complimentary treats such as mint tea and a delicious falafel style appetiser (don’t know the name of the other thing but it’s decent too). There is a 10% service charge but there is no hard feelings unlike with most other places as it is exceptional. I have recommended this place to many friends and they too really enjoy it, so it is definitely worth a try.

We ordered a selection of food to share between us including the hummus, salad, crispy butterfly prawns, falafel and halloumi wrap, lamb kofta and chicken kebab.
