Wafi Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

What a find! We needed to eat early as one of our party had to catch a train. We hadn't booked and were accommodated as before the evening rush began really. Food was beautiful we had a range of salads,mezzes and a meat platter between us all of it was fresh and delicious and super tasty. Absolutely loved the hot olives and 2 types of hummus. The meat platter was a bit chicken heavy and in hindsight would have ordered another lamb dish. Staff were lovely and it was great value. If you like middle eastern food definitely give it a try,

Food was good, very spicy and flavoursome not just hot.

We did not enjoy the food, unfortunately, and it took a while to arrive. We got the impression that deliveries took precedence over sitting customers.

ive tried all the Lebanese places in Newcastle.... this place is among the best.... but it wins hands down for value and price.... awesome

Asked for food on entry. Escorted to upstairs . Made sure we could access Shisha upstairs too which was granted only to be told it would be double the price. When asked why this was, the"Manager" said it was because it was a V.I.P lounge. I do not recall any sign stating such and was not informed of such. I did not accept the "Managers" defensive response when confronted with the question as to why we should obliged paying double price for a Shisha because of climbing a flight of stairs. I further had to endure an hours wait for the said Shisha to made up having asked twice as to where it was. When it eventually cam it had apple written on but was licquorice.The "Manager " stated to one of my friends that he did not like my attitude which I find most u professional. He never once apologised for the delay or misunderstanding and appeared very defensive in his approach. I did not pay for my Shisha. Rip off merchants.Will not be back!

Their prices are expensive, the food is very little, the wraps are very small, and the management’s treatment is very bad and disrespectful with people when I told them that there is poetry in the food ☝️ The last time I and my friends ate there

I enjoyed the music and it was a very serene atmosphere with good service and cold drinks. I also watched the afcon there and it was brill

It was a really good experience. We had tasty food and the waitress, Hanna, provided superb service. The briyani and the baklava was delicious.

The food was delectable and massive portions. The boneless chargrilled baby chicken was absolutely fantastic, enjoyed it a lot, salad and lintel soup is not to be missed. The ambience was gorgeous for a lovely Valentine’s Day meal. Staff were very polite, friendly, lovely and professional. Thank you so very much. Very highly recommended place for a meal. Prices are very reasonable to what you get served.

Great Lebanese food and specialties. I'll recommend the chargrill Méchoui and Shawarma and generous portions. All food Halal.

Beautiful food and setting, Hannah our waitress was very helpful and friendly. We had the vegetarian platter and Wafi special grill and there was so much food! Had to take some home! Highly recommended 💜

This was my first experience of Lebanese food. The friend I was with selected a range of dishes for us to share. I loved it all; the salads, the spices and flavours, all freshly prepared. I can't name the individual dishes but they were all delicious. The staff were all welcoming, and Samu looked after us cheerfully and helpfully. A lovely experience. Thank you.

Really tasty food & the only criticism is there was way too much including 2 pieces of bread untouched. Reasonably priced drinks too. Worth a visit

Ordered on JustEat for delivery. Paid around £2 extra for delivery fee. On arrival of food, driver rings me and I had to meet the driver in the car park as he said he "could not leave the car". A ridiculous and lazy excuse. Not a delivery service to someone's door. I'd been busy working all day and couldn't be bothered with hassle of arguing so I collected my food. Otherwise the food was fantastic and on time. Good portions and well packaged. Can't fault the actual quality of fresh food. Shame the delivery driver can't do their job of simple delivery to a customer's door. Other delivery drivers have no issues coming up into apartment buildings. I will avoid ordering in future from here unfortunately due to this being inconvenient.

Authentic Lebanese Joint. We had Zeit Ou Zatar, Lebanese olives, vegetable biryani, chicken baryani, hommos, bread, and dessert Baklava. Amazing food, we loved all of it. The staff was courteous, and the service was prompt. Must Visit.

This was super awesome very welcoming for any one mostly African. The song and service was just perfect... can't wait to be back... believe

Everything was good, except the wash Ròom ( just one star). The little girl at the first floor was nice and friendly. I monitored she was greeting everyone with a Smile. Five stars for service is actually for her. Salad was tasting vinegar and I don't like that taste at all.

Wafa's food is delicious, and their customer service is best in class. You're welcomed when you walk in, and your order is taken shortly after seating. The portions are spot on, and the wait time is very reasonable. The hosts and servers are kind and attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant and lounge are nicely decorated. The customer toilets are ample, clean, and NOT freezing in winter. After two dine-ins and a takeaway, Wafa is quickly becoming a family favourite.

Waiting time is a joke! Never again - terrible service.

Will not order again! I have been waiting for 2 hours and after calling them they have told me that the order has not left the restaurant yet! This is insane. I WILL NOT ORDER from them again (plent of other Lebanese restaurants in town).

Wafi is one of the finest places where you can sit and enjoy your time smoking shisha with various beautiful flavors and enjoying your drink and your time there, but if you decide to eat food, it is very delicious and luxurious.

Made a reservation with a group of friends, was left out in the rain because they did not pass on details of the reservation. When I expressed my frustration about being kept under the rain due to their inability to keep records. All I got was ' Do you want to get in or do you want to go home?'

Excellent experience! We went for lunch to Wafi Lounge and every dish we ordered was a great and pleasant surprise for us. Authentic Lebanese cuisine and great service. Samo is very professional and friendly. A Mediterranean gem in Newcastle. We’ll come back!

Never leave reviews but this place was shocking tonight! We had a booking for a large party and a few people were late but the attitude of the servers was 🤢 terrible. At the end when splitting up the bill I had paid my part but was held at the door by security as there was still an outstanding balance, even though 10+ guests including the couple that booked were still there. Even after confirming we had paid they still didn’t want to let us leave. Have never experienced that before. Plus the food was mediocre at best, served late with a side of attitude. Only nice things were the decor and cocktails.

Had lunch here with my mate Phil recently. Food was fab and we were really well looked after by Samo. Been lots of times and it is consistently excellent. Always reminds me of my trips to the Middle East.

Yah very nice food and friendly staff. I only stopped for quick bite and got my self lamb wrap and those homemade chips so delicious wish I stayed newcastle for longer and have a proper meal.

Wonderful food, prepared and presented very well. And great service from Samo. We had limited time and they made sure we were served in good time to enjoy our meal without hurrying. Will certainly return the next time we're in Newcastle.

Very useless customer service and unprofessional management.

Beautiful place. Pay £5 to get in year you want access to the restaurant only. Wait 15 minutes before waitress comes to take your order. While waiting you ain’t allowed to go to the lounge and dance , so you sit and stare 30 minutes or more. Yet they call it the same establishment. Inside is beautiful and classy. Food is faultless it’s the service that leaves a metallic taste

All staff are very friendly..The new refurb in the restaurant has made the restaurant feel a lot more comfortable to dine in and you have an option for a more inclusive dining experience with the new private dining area. We came as big group and the guys at Wafi Lounge were amazing caters. The food was amazing and fresh and they had a great selection of cocktails. If I'm back in Newcastle again I'll defo be visiting again.

Everyone who loves Middle Eastern food must come to Wafi. The food is absolutely delicious, the atmosphere wonderful, as we all the staff. But beware...the portions are large, so definitely go with a good apatite.

Came a few days ago for a meal with my girlfriend, it was quite busy in the restaurant but the service was still very quick. The food was delicious, we were served by a young lad named Ahmed who was very polite and helpful.

I went with my uncle because of his health he can only have certain things on the menu, and the main one was the okra dish. They took 40-50 mins to prepare our food and afterwards they come to us saying that we dont have okra on us, when we said why didnt the waiter inform us beforehand because my uncle cant have anything he replied to us saying “will you teach the chef how to do his job”? This is not the way to talk.

If you go to a restaurant and the waiter says “will you teach the chef how to do his job” to a genuine request because of my uncle’s health issues, know to really not go there

Met up with my Dad here after I finished work for Shisha, Coffee and a late Lunch. They always do a great job on the Shisha and Coffee and had some lovely chips here. All the servers and the atmosphere is always great here.

The mixed grilles in Wafi lounge is one if my favourites, chicken wings, chicken cubes, lamb cubes, lamb chops, with the chicken & lamb kebab as well as chicken and lamb sharwarma, fresh bread, rice and chips. Humous and salad goes well with the meat...

We visited for cocktails and they were absolutely vile. Unbelievably strong and not pleasant at all. The room was pretty dark and when we took a photo of our drinks we noticed the table was filthy. Won't be back unfortunately

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with who’s serving the hookah as they are not familiar of how to prepare good hookah. In addition, the staff of the restaurant & were not that good and not caring about the customers at all. Important Note: the staff are racism of where you are coming from. Lastly, I don’t recommend wasting your time & money to visit it/ BR

I've been here three times now. There are some good dishes and others are not freshly cooked or very greasy. The staff are not friendly at all . I just go there when there is no where to go. Could be improved with little effort if the owner cares enough for the business.

The staff in wafi lounge is horrible they are stalking the girls all the time 🤣 they think the girls are coming for they are setting with the girls on the table and they think it's back home and they are in their village lol

It was a horrendous experience , other than the mediocre food the restaurant staff were very unprofessional( young man and woman), who chatted continuously for over half an hour paying no attention to the customers 0/10

Fab place, good menu, delicious food, really fresh. Cocktail menu looked good but as it was dry Jan, we opted for a non alcoholic cocktail, which was really refreshing.
