Caistor Lakes Restaurant in West Lindsey

We visited The Ugly Duckling at Caistor Lakes on Sunday and although it was very busy, we were not left disappointed. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The food came out and it was delicious. We asked for some vegetables which was no problem for the staff in the kitchen and front of house. What a lovely place. We will definitely be back 🙂

Currently staying in Stork Lodge at Caistor Lakes. This evening we visited the on-site Ugly Duckling Restaurant & we wasn’t disappointed!! The customer service was absolutely excellent. Friendly, chatty, down to earth, funny & helpful. The restaurant is clean, quirky & gets you looking around. Plenty of menu choices for different times of the day. The portion sizes are generous! And I have just eaten the best fish, chips, mushy peas & tartar sauce I have ever eaten!!! My wife is very fussy. Especially when comparing meals on the menu that she cooked at home. And she said that the chilli con carne was the best she’s eaten a part from hers. We both have a nice slab of cake to eat each tomorrow with a brew. Special mention to the waitress & barman on shift this evening. Not to mention the new chef!!! Thank you!! You are all a credit to Caistor Lakes & Lodges.

We visited as a family and were welcomed by the manager. The restaurant is welcoming and nicely decorated. There were lots of menu choices to choose from (maybe too many) there was a lunch menu, a specials menu and 2 lunch snack menus. We waited quite a while for someone to take our drinks orders and then waited a long time for our food orders to be taken. We also waited a long time for our food to be brought out. One of us ordered a jacket potato and another a chicken roast which were both lovely. My self and my sister ordered burgers which didn’t have much taste. We would visit again but maybe when it’s less busy.

We came as party of 15 with 5 kids and the service was amazing! However, the food was a bit lacking. My son in laws waffle burger was greasy, my daughter’s chicken wings had hardly any meat, same with my husband and mother in laws lamb chop, which was mostly bone and way too many peas. And the kids pizza was just a brioche bun with sauce and cheese. Also, there were only two vegetarian options and the mushroom stroganoff was bland. The food used to be outstanding there, but it’s gone downhill. Step it up “Ugly Duckling”.

Fantastic & flavoursome, great value for money ☺️ Me and my family (7 of us) had our first lakeaway box tonight for tea, 2 actually 😊 it was absolutely delicious all of it, 4 different takeaway meals all in one box, a nice variety of classic dishes, burger & chips, fish & chips, cajun kebab, and pizza. My kids can be quite picky sometimes and as soon as they saw it they all dived in and tried a bit of everything, full of flavours and great tasting sauces especially liked the siracha sauce & baconnaise. The burgers were lovely and chunky topped with bacon and cheese great combination, great tasting fish goujons very good size as well. For me it was a great alternative to the normal boring takeaway we always have and gives you a nice selection of classics.... Side note the cajun chicken has a kick to it. Will definitely be ordering from here when I want takeaway again 😊 thanks to the creator & chef nick fantastic job winner from me and the family 😊

The cabins are luxurious,all the staff are friendly. Food at the ugly duckling is very tasty and they deliver to your cabin. Booked to return next year.

A really well-kept, beautiful and friendly site with tourer caravans facing the lake. Staff are all really helpful and friendly too. Kept really clean, top marks for the toilet block, very modern and roomy showers. Only two toilets and two showers but only a small site, so it's not a problem whilst in quieter time of the season. Lots of ducks and moorhens wandering around, making it a really pleasant environment. Around 15 to 20 minutes walk to village which has a Co-op, bakery, 2 fish shops, a Chinese, a Pizza place and a Curry House, not that we have tried them all yet, but highly recommend the Caistor Chinese, food was fab and really reasonably priced. Also has White Hart pub, friendly staff and good food.

Great food and service. Staff lovely and helpful. Make sure you try their afternoon tea (add a few cocktails too) , it's amazing x

We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who explained everything clearly. We had booked a caravan pitch on the lakeside. The site is very well cared for and the showers/toilets are spotless. We also used the restaurant. The staff there are amazing. The Sunday dinner was the best I've ever eaten. Delicious! The pitches themselves are small and tightly packed in, which isn't the best, but overall a lovely stay . Adult only is a big bonus .

From my initial phone call to book to the moment we left I cannot fault the whole experience. The staff were so kind and welcoming to my mum (84th birthday) and her friend (wheelchair user). We all chose the small scampi which was large enough for us all. Great service and lovely food made it a really special visit. Thankyou.

What a place, the Manager “Josh” is very professional in every thing he says and does, a really nice man, we cannot rate him highly enough. Josh’s staff are also excellent, nothing is too much trouble, they are also very, very polite. As for the food, it is top notch, no matter what time of day or night you eat. Even though they have got quite a few chefs (I believe) the standard and quality of every meal remains the same, not like in some restaurants we have been to where the food varies from chef to chef in the same place. We cannot recommend Josh and his staff highly enough. Ps, The portions are nice and big but you do not get fleeced with regards to what you pay for.

Little bit disappointed with lack of choice on the D,B&B menu in restaurant .

Last minute booking for fifteen guests and two dogs. Booked in and arrived to almost seamless service. Some picky ordering by younger members of our party and drinks arrived quickly with food not too long after. A little confusion with food coming out ( mainly because people forgot what they ordered ) but soon sorted out. Great quality food at value for money prices. I will return with our touring caravan.

Absolutely brilliant, we were in a caravan, the site amenities and everything else were all 5 ☆, the staff were amazing, so polite, a mention must go to josh and his team, they were absolutely brilliant, so professional,polite and on the ball. The food was 1st class, and were so close, our 1st time there, certainly not our last. Thank you so much for a fantastic few days 💗.

Stayed Friday to Sunday and had four meals during our stay. The food was excellent and the staff were engaging and welcoming. The portions are generous to say the least. You won’t be disappointed.

The cabin what we stopped in was very very clean. The on site restaurant was very nice for food and drink and the surrounding area was nice to.

Probably the best place I have visited. Superb site AA 5 star offering a restaurant fishing and caravan pitches. Lodges overlooking one of the lakes. Very friendly and helpful staff. I can definitely recommend Caister Lakes for a short or long holiday adults only.

Going In July but stayed there last year outstanding place to get away for a week or so everyone very helpful and site is immaculate

It's a fantastic place 😀 Does exactly what they advertise. Peaceful, restful, and tranquil. The fishing lakes are full of many healthy, good variety of fish 🐟 The lodges are perfectly idyllic and very clean. We've already booked for next year 😀

Caistor lates this is a good venue for a Lincolnshire bike night. Good food and hot and cold drinks available and a large tarmac car park for parking the bikes.

Visited for the day to meet family staying there, gorgeous surroundings, cabins looked amazing, touring pitches large, clean and great facilities

Just had a fab stay over Easter with tourer.. showers/toilets 100% immaculate.. staff are fantastic and the pub/restaurant was good value for money .. enjoyed so much we booked for spring bank holiday

We stayed in our motorhome at Caistor Lakes. It is a quiet, adult only campsite with fishing lakes. Exactly what you need for a relaxing weekend away. Facialities are immaculate with everything you need for a motorhome or caravan. We've been there a few times now and will definitely go back.

Called in for dinner whilst passing by, excellent choice, excellent service and excellent food.

We stay in our Motorhome here. Staff always helpful and friendly. Restaurant very good for breakfasts etc. Always clean and well maintained.

Waitress spilled a coke on myself and my nephew. 3 of our party ordered the chicken and waffles and none of our chicken was properly cooked. Furthermore I'm pretty sure it was just the same chicken refried when our food returned. The staff were very pleasant and apologised, and we were offered a discount on our bill but after such a negative experience I doubt we will be coming back

2nd visit this year, brilliant site ,friendly, helpful staff and great restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for my 50th birthday. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The lodge was lovely and a great setup, too. We chose the bedroom nearer to the hot tub. My husband enjoyed fishing off the balcony. We stayed in Cygnet and would definitely choose the same lodge. The shower was lovely, too. The ugly duckling restaurant was lovely, too, with amazing staff. Also, Caistor chinese is a must to try. Collection and cash only, but it's only two minutes drives away and cash point in the co-op, the best we've had .We all definitely want to come back and can't wait for our next stay. Many thanks to everyone for making our stay memorable.

Great little campsite shop with a bar and café. Serving a small selection of alcoholic drinks and also teas and coffees. Great bacon sandwiches and brilliant views overlooking the valley.

Rented a lodge for new year. Very clean and relaxing. Had excellent meal in the restaurant ugly duckling. Food was exceptional and the service was above and beyond other restaurants we have used. Also %10 off for being in a lodge. Winner. Highly recommended.

Lovely setting. Welcoming and friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Food was delicious, timely and the view out from the restaurant was lovely onto one of the lakes. Plenty of choice on the menu and reasonably priced too. Well decorated and furnished so nice to sit in. Tables and a more relaxed area. Large cappuccino was more like a bucket which was great for a coffee lover. Chips were delicious but I couldn't finish the club sandwich so the kind staff member popped it in a container for me. A lovely lunch. Even enjoyed the rural views driving to it. I'll take friends and family back with me next time. And I'll remember to take cash to give staff a tip as I was unable to put it on card!

Called in for an impromptu birthday lunch with family, including young children and dogs. The staff were very accommodating, seating and serving us quickly, and the menu selection was fantastic and great value. We were served by Ann who was wonderful with the children and advising us about the menu, making a special fuss of my father for his birthday. Will definitely be back!

Just had a fantastic meal, it was great having the option of a small plate meal. The chips were the best I’ve ever had.

This is my first visit to the restaurant, I visited here with my friend, I took her for afternoon tea for her birthday. We also took her little one with us. Afternoon tea was booked and paid in advance, As this s the requirement for afternoon tea. The staff where welcoming upon arrival, and extremely polite, the restaurant was warm cosy and clean, you could also smell the food cooking. We were seated to our reserved table, the waiter came to our table and gave us menus, so we could select drinks. My friend ordered a latte, I just had tea. The waiter took our menus away, the lady in the restaurant fetched another menu, to order little ones food from. She had chicken nuggets and potato tots, when her food came out I was shocked by the quality, freshly made food, not processed like you get elsewhere. Our afternoon tea was big, I was super happy that there was more savory available on it, so many places do too much sweet. The afternoon tea consisted of sandwiches, tuna cucumber,tuna mayo, chicken with mayo. Vegetable quiche, mini pasty, Yummy soup. Also a little pot of gherkins and cheese so much better than the mundane side salad. On the next tier where cakes, that consisted of brownie, Victoria sponge, I think trifle although taste was a mix of trifle and eton mess. Top tier had scones , 1 plain 1 fruit, jam, and cream for each one. The food was tasty and very filling, the brownie was lush and tasted like chocolate ganache. The scone was quite savory and you could taste the salt in it, I only add a little cream, and not jam as I don't like it on scones really, but that's just a preference. I liked everything I ate apart from the quiche, again that's just preference my friend enjoyed here's too. All together the cost was about £41.00. The afternoon teas are, £14.95 each. I would definitely visit again in the future. The staff are lovely and the food is quality. This restaurant is worth a visit.

My daughter booked a tea for two for my 50th birthday all the food was delicious and home makef the staff that was working that day were all lovely and attentive putting up my balloons and 50th banner also my banner on the table certainly come back and do that again thank you very much

Me and my wife stayed on site and enjoyed some fantastic food, so much so we payed a visit to the butchers that supplied they're meat! The staff were really friendly and we can not speak highly enough of all of them. Our dog Ted also enjoyed star treatment from everyone there. Definitely recommend 👌

I booked afternoon tea for my mums 50th and the food was exaqusit and the staff went above and beyond and was very intentive on the day . The table was set out all nice wirh decorations and balloons . Would rate the experinence 10 out of 10 and would highly reccomedn the restauramt and afternoon tea.

This has become my favourite establishment for breakfast in the area. I take my elderly Mum for home cooked food most weeks and it is welcoming, inviting and the staff are friendly and helpful. The decor is modern and food always fresh, hot and cooked to order. Would recommend to anyone as the prices are also excellent for the quality of food served.
