The food and service was very good and much better than reviews led us to expect. So glad we stopped for lunch. I recommend the falafel and jackets. I suspect the homemade approach struggles on really busy days as you would expect.

I went here with my parents and we each had a cream tea. It was lovely food: huge fresh scones that were still warm; really tasty sandwiches and fresh home made cakes that were a dream! The price was great as well at less than £20 per person. The staff were lovely and were happy to help with anything. Loads of tea and beautiful china tea sets. Would recommend to everyone!

The staff were really friendly but it was chaos. We waited ages and had to remind them that we had not received our order, then it came twice. We paid nearly £20 for two cups of coffee and two scones. These were advertised as 'home made', although I'm not convinced they were. Food hygiene skills were not great either. I would not recommend a visit to this cafe!

£4.80 for a take-a-way Hot Chocolate! I'm talking a regular sized no frills Hot Chocolate that should have been more like half this price. I glanced at the menu as we were actually hungry, £11 for jacket potatos.. I don't recall ever seeing a more expensive jacket potato in my life. We used to visit this cafe all the time pre-covid but ever since it seems to have and still is getting more and more expensive, we have since stopped visiting for food and after todays £4.80 hot chocolate will no longer pop in for a drink either. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but upon checking the rest of the reviews I can see everyone is saying this same thing as I am.

We bought 4 cakes, 3 glasses of tap water (30p each!!) and a tea for nearly £30 and that was after removing the ice cream / cream accompaniments to the cakes that would have been £2 each (£8 total) for a small dollop on the side. Can’t remember ever being charged for tap water yet alone 30p for about 150ml. Not sure what market this cafe is aiming for. It’s not exactly in prime tourist location. The park looks lovely but we won’t be paying to enter after our cafe experience.

Superb place to come if you are an eccentric billionaire. I ordered two cups of tea and two scones, and was charged the fat end of £20. Shaking slightly with shock, I asked the assistant to show me how it came to that. Every time she added up the numbers, the total was different, but *seems* that a scone is £6.80 and you pay extra for cream. Just as well I didn’t want a sandwich as well - those are £9.99! I’m sure Elon Musk will have one when he pops in on his way to launch his next spacecraft.

Along with most recent reviews we found this place to be in a lovely setting and with a nice looking selection of food. But, the prices are through the roof. It feels like one of those places that thinks if they serve a scone on a roof slate they can charge extra. Added to that, when our drinks came the waitress was carrying the three glasses by putting her fingers inside the glasses. Basic food hygiene training would tell her that that is not OK. Such a pity.

We visited a year ago and had a lovely lunch. We visited again recently but found it very disappointing. We had a tuna sandwich, a pasty and two drinks which came to £24. The pasty had not been heated through properly and the tuna sandwich came with a few crisps and a mediocre salad. It is a shame in such a lovely setting that it was expensive but not very good.

This use to be a good cafe. But it has significantly slipped. The food and drink is very expensive, and the service is sloppy. I ordered a pasty, which arrived luke-warm on top and still chilled on the bottom. It went back for a second attempt, and came. Ack tolerably hot. We won’t be coming back.

We had Earl Grey tea & an Americano, with a slice of cake each = £16.30. I think prices in cafés & general eating out have gone through the roof, we have to choose where we go carefully. With this in mind, I think this was a great place, no fast food here. Great cake portions and good texture. Good drink as well. Genuine & friendly staff and a broad menu from the little I saw. Sad to be writing such a negative review for a local cafe but something needs to change. Positives- lovely location and ample seating, warm and friendly staff. The cakes looked good. Negatives - they forgot one persons food completely and got another’s wrong. The prices are astronomical, food is not homemade, condiments available are cheap and nasty including watered down vinegar. There was also no toilet paper in the toilets Unsure if this is a recent change as previously had good food here in the past. Hopefully they’ll improve as time goes on.

After a walk around the grounds on friday we stopped for coffee and cake. It was really nice to be able to stop and rest while the kids played safely on the play area. cake was really nice I had salted caramel which was amazing my friend had gluten free chocolate which she really enjoyed and said it was unusual for a small cafe to do such a gluten free selection. would have given 5 but the toilets where not great. will come back again for lunch as the platters we saw coming from the kitchen looked really nice,

We had lunch sat outside and the best part was the birds feeding at our table. I had pate and toast and got a small portion of course pate and 1 round of toast with a bit of salad. Not much for £6.95. We ordered drinks and the order was left on the side and forgotten until they were reminded. The staff were friendly but we felt let down.

Yes, indeed, this attractive cafe deserves all the credits received in previous reviews. However, I can't help but think that £15 per person for afternoon tea is a bit steep... compared to, say, £12.75 at the Imperial Hotel, Llandudno. I do appreciate that the Black Cat provides a totally different kind of experience but, wow, £15 !

There's something about national trust cafes. Overpriced service is always poor and the food is always substandard Paid £3.30 for a bottle of water. There was no filling station for us to refill ours.

Great atmosphere, great drinks. The beer garden is a very open place, plenty of seats. The food we ordered came quickly, bit of confusion with the menu but it was immediately sorted and the Lady who served us was very kind. Made sure that everything we ordered was to our taste and even accommodated for my allergies. Very kind people, would absolutely come again

Disgraceful attitude from staff. Extremely rude and offensive. Tables cluttered and not cleared of dirty crockery. Will not visit again.

We had a lovely late lunch. Chicken and quiche, both with great chips and salad, sitting in the glorious sun with a great view! What a find!

We ordered 1 scones and butter, 1 Short bread, I hot chocolate with marshmalows and cream and one hot chocolate just basic without the extras. The cafe only had 4 people seated and only us being served. Both hot chocolatrs we made very slowly and served almost cold and it was hard to taste chocolate, more like warm milk with a hint of choclate on top even after the long preperation. The hot chocolates were far worse than the good ones you get in wetherspoons for a third of the price with free refills! Both scones were dry and fell apart when buttered. Overall very disapointing and a waste of money, beware!
