Bues i i'r caffi yma ychydig o wythnosau yn ol, ar ol ymweld a'r parc gyda fy'n nheulu. Roedd y bwyd wedi cymryd amser hir i fod yn barod ond roedd y bryd yn blasus dros ben. Bydden wedi hoffi i'r staff fod ychydig yn fwy 'welcoming' a roedd y caffi ychydig yn fach ond os yn anwybyddu hyn, fe ges i amser da iawn a bwyd neis hefyd. I went to the cafe a couple of weeks ago after visited the park with my family. the food took longer than expected to arrive but the meal was very delicious. I would have loved for the staff to be a bit more welcoming as the cafe was a little small but if I was to ignore this I had had a lovely time and a lovely meal to go with it.

I’ve previously reviewed this place with 5* but gosh it’s gone so downhill.. the service is appalling nobody knows what they doing there’s poor communication between the staff. They are all very young and there doesn’t seem to be any sort of senior member of staff at all.. I ordered a cake and coffee and an ice cream for my son. My cake came quickly - no sign of the ice cream.. another ten mins later (with an inpatient toddler) I finally got the ladies attention and reminded her if the ice cream and coffee. She returned with the ice cream - no sign of the coffee.. reminded her again when my coffee finally came she never even apologised for the wait.. the cake was very dry too. Really disappointed as this was always a great place but unfortunately I won’t return.

Walked into a wall of smell every table had dirty dishes on. Staff in a world of there own. My friend and myself were asked to pass them someone else’s dirty dishes . I was looking forward to having some nice cheesecake but none there, not much of anything there still they got order wrong. Girls just stood doing nothing, when every table needed clearing . Wasn’t worth the petrol money that was my first and last honestly you can see or smell for yourself vile.

After following Caffi ar y Llyn on Facebook for some time, we decided it was finally worth a visit to try their ‘spectacular’ cheesecake and ‘luxury hot chocolates’. On arrival there were no cheesecakes so instead we went for one of their other cakes they had on display. We also asked for luxury hot chocolates to which was hot chocolate with whipped cream as they didn’t have any marshmallows, this was nothing in comparison to what they’ve advertised on their Facebook (see photo below) 👎🏼 Having commented on the Facebook page to say that we were disappointed ours didn’t look like this, they then deleted the comment after posting on it twice and then felt the need to block me from liking or commenting on posts. Very disappointing customer service and very disappointing to have that sort of professionalism from the owner! Shame as we love supporting local businesses!

Having found this cafe on the internet, decided to visit, but it is set in a park where you have to pay to park. My husband having a disabled parking badge read on the notice board you could get an hour free, but you have to get a ticket , of which this costs one pound, but we did not have any change only notes on us. So I asked in the cafe and was told they don’t give change, they are not allowed too. So we got in our car drove off and went somewhere else.

Having raved about my first experience of this cafe enjoying takeaway afternoon tea, my second visit with family for Sunday dinner left a lot to be desired. Today’s visit was in the hope that they could win me back but unfortunately it was third time unlucky. We arrived just after 12.00 on a week day and it was nice to find it quiet as it’s often manic with the staff seemingly overwhelmed. We chose the table with the least amount of mess on it but still had to wipe it down with a baby wipe ourselves. After 30mins waiting I decided to place my order at the till as no one had come to us, bearing in mind it was only ourselves and one other table inside at the time. Maybe this is the norm but on my last visit our order was taken at the table. We both chose the special burger which arrived in good time. On first impression it looked great and as we tucked in, it seemed tasty. We were asked quite promptly if everything was ok which at the time it seemed to be. As I made my way into the burger however, I began to notice that a lot of it wasn’t cooked and although I will gladly eat my steak blue, when it comes to minced beef I like it cooked thoroughly. I finished the rest of the chips and left the meat feeling disappointed once again. We sat with our dirty plates in front of us for a good while and wanting another drink went to the till once again to order it. As our drinks were served our plates were finally cleared. The lady who served us, I think she was new was very pleasant but it was so quiet and yet to look at the state of the place and the complete lack of service, you’d think they were flat out. Every table was dirty and empty plates littered the place with little effort made to clear them. I took my daughter to the toilet to change her and While i appreciate the toilets may not be the responsibility of the cafe, it was freezing in there and the smell of the nappy bin was horrendous. Im afraid I shan’t be returning. The staff on the whole seem totally uninterested in the customer experience and that’s a shame as it’s such a nice park.

Lovely Sunday dinner, First time visiting. Plenty of food. A little slow bringing all out together ... some started while others had to wait 🤨... we all really enjoyed gorgeous beef ... but don’t tell customers you forgot to switch oven on that’s why there’s no turkey doesn’t give a good impression or professional lol .... we had to wait a long time for dessert to be offered and then a long time for table to be cleared ! Despite other tables being cleared before us and girls walking back to kitchen empty handed. Excellent chocolate orange cake and youngest loved his Sunday 😋... good idea to do something like a crumble and custard to go with a dinner perhaps 🤔especially on a horrible wet Sunday ... all in all very good value for money enjoyed food and will return.... obviously very popular with locals as we spotted ! One very nice waitress you have too .. Thankyou !

I give my daughter aged 12 £10 to change and asked her to go change it in the little cafe, she was gone for over 15mins because she was queuing up to be served, when she finally got to the front, she asked the young girl with dark hair if she could have change for the carpark please, and she said we carnt the carpark has nothing to do with the cafe, so my daughter asked if she bought a capcake could she have change in coins which the young girl replyed no sorry it doesnt work like that and turned my daughter away, so my daughter came out and told me, i was very annoyed saying the lest, you lost 7 customers plus the other people who overheard down to one person mannerisms customer services course is highly recommended because i for 1 will not be returning unfortunately and it looks like a lovely little cafe

Went for Sunday dinner here with a reserved table. We alerted staff we were present but could see they were busy so waited outside with the kids. Only see see other groups who had arrived after us then being seated before us (our reservation now Hal hour late!?) very poor visit and definitely won’t be returning. When explaining concerns to staff they were very unsympathetic and looked annoyed by the comments. After waiting so long the kids were stressed and bored. My husband and I had to take it in turns eating because the baby was so grumpy by then. He had to leave and wait in the car with her because he high chair doesn’t actually have straps which work so she kept climbing out. I then also then had to queue half hour to pay! Ridiculous!!!

Fantastic place to stop off for lunch if you're travelling to west Wales. We go here every year on the way to St Davids from Devon to break the journey up. Café small and cosy. Lovely sandwiches and jacket potatoes, freshly prepared, with side salad and crisps. Good coffee and cakes too. There's also a great kids play area and a beautiful lake that you can walk all the way round in half an hour or so.

Phoned up to book a table of 4 plus 2 prams for afternoon tea and the lady on the phone tried everything to put us off coming-it’s a very small place, tight squeeze for prams, very busy at 1pm and were we sure we still wanted to go! When we arrived there was clearly no room for us in the very small and pokey place and when we finally got the attention of the lady behind the counter she said we were not in the diary and was I sure I was in the right place!! We were then told to go for a walk and come back later! Half hour later we returned and they were still not ready for us so we went somewhere else instead.

Last week I took my gran out for a spontaneous walk and we arrived and thought let’s have some food. There was a lovely lady who managed to squeeze us in, we had a late and black coffee which were amazing. We then had our Sunday lunch, out of all the pubs and restaurants I have EVER been to this was by far, hands down, the best Sunday lunch I have ever tasted. Everything was so fresh, the meat was tenderly cooked and literally melting in my mouth!! We absolutely loved it and will definitely be returning for another Sunday lunch. For a small cafe it is so good, if only it could be extended!! I am also a HUGE fan of the plates/dishes!! Our visit and food was absolutely beautiful and my gran now adores the place!! Thank you!

We have visited for afternoon tea quite a few times and I can honestly say it is consistent with its quality, presentation and value for money. Good selection of finger sandwiches with a portion of chips and a delicious variety of sweet treats including a fresh scone with jam and clotted cream. We particularly liked the dainty serving of homemade cheesecake, it was devine, will definitely have to call up for a full size portion soon!! Served with a plentiful supply of tea and coffee and a glass of pink lemonade. As usual service was very quick, staff pleasant and presentation of food excellent. As on previous occasions the amount of food beat us, so we took a box of goodies home! Please continue as you are Caffi ar y Llyn, it's a pleasure to visit.

We went as a family for sunday lunch can't say we were overly impressed the food was very tasty but the dinning experience was chaotic a constant queue through the cafe for take out dinners which I felt took preference over the people who booked a table our food was brought a little bit a time then they ran out of veg and we waited on the new lot to finish cooking in the meantime my meat roasty stuffing and gravy was getting cold at the table. I understand they are a small establishment but I was watching the massive take out dinners leaving the cafe and we had a few small dishes to share between 6 I do think they need to try and get an equal balance and tend to the people in the cafe as well as the people queing for take outs saying that like I said food was tasty and staff were nice but I don't think we'd be visiting again for Sunday lunch

Having seen pictures of the afternoon tea on offer I enquired as to whether it was available as a takeaway. Thankfully for me it was! The selection of cakes and sandwiches was excellent and the bottle of lemonade was a lovely touch. Service from my initial enquiry through to collection was over and above friendly and professional and it’s refreshing to see that time and effort that has been put in to what’s on offer - Thankyou. Unfortunate circumstances meant they were short staffed but this didn’t alter my experience. As a local I’m thrilled to have discovered this cafe and look forward to sampling the rest of the menu. Great work, please keep it up.

I have visited the local cafe on three separate occasions. I have to say the food is extremely nice and the variety of cakes and desserts is amazing and there something for everyone. Also the presentation of desserts is very impressive. However it’s a shame about the service. On one occasion I have visited it was extremely quiet yet our food got brought to our table separate times with one member half way through their meal and the other still waiting, you would think they would send the food out together by preparing them at a pase where it could all go out together. “booking is advised” I booked a table for 8 people the night before and while booking it seemed not a problem at all the manager was very helpful and kind. We arrived at the cafe and our party had to sit on two separate tables which weren’t by each other. Would recommend as the food is fabulous but be prepared to have to wait outside for a table even if you’ve booked! You would think they would take bookings and allow each table a reasonable amount of time on the table before excepting more bookings. A cafe that serves salad to chilli to jacket potatoes to breakfast, too our disappointment we arrived one day and were told they only had cold sandwiches left big shame. On a bright note friendly waitressesand delicious food. Will continue to dine here as the food is fab.

Caffi ar y Llyn is somewhere that I rate very highly. Family run, with attentive staff, cleanliness and really tasty food!As a family, we love visiting We live locally, and often walk around the lake. There's no better way to end an afternoon stroll, than with a stop off at this cosy cafe (a hot chocolate on a rainy day to warm us up is always a favourite with us!).The afternoon tea is very good value for money, with plenty of sandwiches and cake to fill you up.. and if you can't quite finish, they'll box up what's left for you to take home and enjoy later on!The roast dinner on a Sunday is honestly, the best Sunday lunch that I've had - on parr with my grandma's roast (and you know that there's no better than a grandma's Sunday lunch!). Everything is homemade, and the meat is always perfectly cooked. Also, if you're craving a Sunday lunch at home, but don't fancy cooking it yourself, you can even take a plate to the cafe for a 'take away' roast! The puddings are original and tasty - the Ferraro rocher cheesecake was my all time favourite and there's always a choice of freshly made cakes on the counter.Diolch Caffi ar y Llyn for always being a pleasure to visit, and for not disappointing x

I've been here several times since the new owners took it over, and each time I've been left cold by the lack of warmth shown by the staff to customers. Case in point was when I stopped in yesterday - a very miserable and unsmiling lady with brown hair and glasses took my order (she did not smile once at anybody the entire time I was there). The food (a microwaved jacket potato with a burnt bottom) was served by equally unsmiling lady with short brownish/reddish hair. Such a shame as it's such a glorious location! The other drawback is that the tables are so smashed together that there is no room to move around. 3 different groups of people (including ourselves) could not maneouver and were boxed in.

I visited here with a friend and ordered the chicken goujon salad and tea. The food was good and the café had a relaxing atmosphere. I like the fact that the tea comes with milk in a separate jug if required (I do not drink milk and even though I ask for black tea without milk I often get milky tea).I also liked the fact that the salad came without any sauce already added which allowed me the option of adding my preferred sauce if wanted. I would definitely visit the place again.Although I didn't try the cakes on this occasion they did look very enticing.

We've been here for their lovely cake before, but as lovers of afternoon tea, it had to be done. On arrival, we were brought a pot of tea and were pleased to see the crockery was vintage china - how an afternoon tea should be. We were also brought rose lemonade. It was a lovely idea to have both hot and cold drinks, as I'm not a great lover of too much tea and it was a very hot day. We also ordered a children's afternoon tea and this came with a milkshake in a miniature milk bottle, with a doughnut on the straw. This went down very well! The children's tea was fantastic, with sweets, jelly, cakes and sandwiches. It was very much enjoyed and he said it was the best he'd ever had, "even better than my old favourite Roald Dahl one". High praise indeed. The adult afternoon tea was great too. Fresh sandwiches, amazing little bacon pastries that I will dream of tonight, scone, tiny strawberry petit fours, angel cake, lemon cake, brownie, Bakewell and cheesecake. All were delicious, in particular the angel cake. We were so full and couldn't manage it all, so were able to take the rest home. We highly recommend this afternoon tea - an excellent selection of really fresh and tasty food, for a fantastic price. If you don't want the whole afternoon tea, their sliced cake is amazing top, particularly the pistachio and rose. Well done, Caffi Ar y Llyn - easily the best afternoon tea in the area.

I've visited here for Sunday lunch, an afternoon tea and most recently (yesterday) a regular lunch. All have been absolutely outstanding. All homecooked food and of a high standard. Lucky enough to live locally and will definitely be visiting here more often after the delicious lunch I had yesterday. Always a lovely welcome and delicious cakes on display.

The afternoon tea at this very busy little cafe is of a standard that competes with the likes of grand hotels. The children thoroughly enjoyed, and patents too...all agreed the afternoon tea looked fantastic, tasted delicious and was amazing value for money. You will have to book to avoid disappointment, gluten free, vegetarian and even dairy free available on request!!!!

We visited Caffi ar y Llyn last Monday, there were seven of us in total a mix of adults, children and a toddler. When we arrived the table was beautifully laid with an eclectic mix of fine china. The children's tea was a real treat and is presented equally as lovely as the adults on a three tier cake stand with sandwiches, sausage rolls , an abundance of cakes and sweet treats, milkshake and squash (an absolute bargain at £5-95 per head). The adults tea was also a feast of finger sandwiches (tuna mayo, egg mayo, ham & cheese). There was also mini quiches, scones with clotted cream & jam and an abundance of sweet treats to include homemade cheesecake which was delishious this along with and as much tea or coffee as you want. The Zingy Pink Rose Lemonade was a lovely surprise to wash it all down. All this for £10-95 a head ... There is no way you would get through it all but you are offered take-away boxes for left-overs.The beautiful lakeside setting is lovely, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the caffi is quite small so I would recommend booking .... Well worth a visit !!A definite 5 Star *****

First class. Welcome, service, menu couldn't be any better. Nothing was too much trouble, arriving at the cafe with 12 children and 2 adults didn't phase the staff at all, the food arrived all together, which is rare for such a large group, it was hot and plentiful. Rarely do you find such an extensive menu in such a small establishment, the time and effort that goes into updating the menu and introducing new dishes can only be applauded. Looking forward to trying the Sunday lunches and afternoon teas soon.

Well, I certainly disagree with one of the previous negative comment. This is a lovely little cafe, providing a service to visitors to the lake and play area. I was there with my husband at the beginning of the week and had a beautiful lunch , in pleasant clean surroundings. The staff were very friendly. This is a small family run business , and deserves the support of locals and tourists.

We had a lovely relaxed lunch of ham salad out side in the sun and a lovely coffee to follow . We have called for a coffee before but with two busy grandsons. So ,today we were on our own and had time to enjoy lunch . We will be calling again to sample other menu choices soon :))

New people required to bring energy and imagination to this cafe. Menu similar to a transport cafe. Staff appear to dislike their work and serving customers.

Had tea here today after booking through Facebook where I requested tea for two (one vegetarian) and high chair for my little one. When we arrived, the table was set up ready and, as requested, a high chair ready for my child. We were asked for our hot beverage order (bottomless!!) quickly and were provided these in sweet little teapots in keeping with the vintage theme of the meal. Our food arrived quickly and I was gobsmacked at the quantities! We had delicious finger sandwiches and a huge selection of cakes. Accompanying this was delicious pink lemonade. While we were there there was a steady stream of visitors ordering various food stuffs and it all looked and smelled delicious so we'll likely return for some savoury food soon too! We really enjoyed the whole experience. Staff were efficient and polite and the cafe, while small, is lovely. We will definitely return and would certainly recommend the afternoon tea.

Took my parents and two young children here for afternoon tea yesterday and what a treat! We arrived to a beautifully laid table with fine china. The children's tea was delightful - sandwiches, savouries, an abundance of cakes and sweet treats, chocolate milkshake and juice (an absolute bargain at £5 per head). The adults tea was also a feast of finger sandwiches, mini quiches, scones with clotted cream, millionaire's shortbread, rocky road, mini Welshcakes, homemade cheesecake, sponges, rose lemonade and as much tea and coffee as you want. There is no way you would get through it all but you are offered take-away boxes for left-overs. Thank goodness for the beautiful reservoir, woodland, children's adventure playground and nature reserve to burn off some of the calories afterwards! They are a small, family run business and nothing is too much trouble. Advisable to book.

Dropped in to Llyn Llech Owain just before noon, it was not as busy as I would have expected, which was nice. We had a pot of tea and some lovely fruit cake, and sat in to have it as the weather was still a bit blustery. First class service, considering there was only one lady serving. However our visit was slightly marred by a family of three adults and five children... the parents seemed to have no control over the children, who were really loud and grabby and while the parents just stood there and watched them run riot. . Eventually, they went outside to sit, thankfully, but it did put a crimp in an otherwise pleasant visit. After tea, we went for a little walk and met several families on holiday. The weather had improved, but we had run out of time... I must just add that the toilets were nice and clean too.

Sunny day - thinking what shall we do? A walk around Llyn Llech Owain. End of the walk - needed a warm, called into Caffi. We had a warm welcome. Jacket potato with home made curry was my choice. This was delicious. Curry was home made, food was hot. Hubby had curry half and half. The chips were 'real' chips. The menu was varied but not too much. The cakes on display looked tasty but after eating the meal we had no room. We'll definitely be returning to try afternoon tea or breakfast.

Had a delicious afternoon tea here today with my daughter and my husband. We had a friendly welcome, and the service was excellent. The sandwiches were freshly made and the coffee was hot, strong and plentiful. We were also served two little savoury tartlets each that were very tasty, three different types of delicious homemade cakes, plus a welsh cake and a warm scone with jam and clotted cream. I would definitely recommend, and it certainly calls for another visit.

Very surprised this place hasn't yet got a review. Visited here yesterday for Sunday lunch with my husband, sister, brother in law and niece. We only live 5 mins from Llyn Llech Owain so visit quite often but have never been to the cafe. My sisters friend had recently mentioned how nice the food was. After about an hour debating where to go for a last minute lunch we decided to try here. We arrived with very low expectations but once we got inside the smell of delicious homecooked dinner was upon us. It's £7.50 for adult and £5 for child just the one course. Children had the option of Turkey or beef but the adults dinner only had the choice of beef which I thought was strange. Dinner came quickly and presented very well with lots of veg too and mash potatoes too which is a nice change! All in all a really nice dinner will definitely be visiting again!

If you are looking for the perfect Wedding or party venue, look no further. From our first meeting, Jonathan put us at ease and was the perfect Wedding planner. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautifully decorated with plenty of space for guests to walk around. The staff were really kind, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding and perfectly timed. Thank you Jonathan for making our Wedding day so perfect! We wouldn't change a thing. We had so much fun, dancing and laughing the night away.

I come to Pontarddulais once a year while hubby visits a client and was excited to learn of the new espresso bar here. However, I was shocked at the prices!!! £4 for a latte and £3.90 for a flat white/cappuccino. Yikes! We were recently in Melbourne and Sydney and the most I paid for a latte there was £3, overlooking Sydney harbour. Mostly £2 generally and never had a bad one. Sadly, Coaltown’s flat white was way too strong and I didn’t enjoy 😝. I’ll bring my own next time. Shame, as I like the smell and ambience of a coffee shop.
