Caffe Veneto in Cherwell

Pretending to be Italian wanna be joint. Can’t even make a proper coffee. Way overpriced and bad coffee. Makes me wonder how could places like that still exist. As an added value you will leave with your clothes and hair smelling of old oil fried food. Disgusting really!!!

Child meal was crepe with banana and Nutella. Was not Nutella but a cheap chocolate sauce which was bitter. Bananas were also very dodgy. Mushy and grey. The full English was also poor. The cheapest sausages money can buy. Eggs were snotty and under cooked. Beans can in a tiny ramekin dish of maybe 1 tablespoon. Mushroom was deep fried. That's right, 1 mushroom. Fried tomato hadn't seen a grill. Cold toast was served with a massive block of cold butter which made spreading a far off dream. The bacon was soft and floppy streaky. Hash brown was ok. Coffee was good. Full fat latte. Overall, poor.

My husband and I had a childless lunch for the first time in ages and couldn't resist trying this cafe out after looking area the area. We were greeted at the door, able to sit where we wanted and given plenty of time to choose our food. We both ordered the full English which was delicious, the best bacon I've ever had and I was able to request a change to the meal without any issues, they were very accommodating. I ordered a hot chocolate for my drink, which has to be the best hot chocolate I've ever had, it was thick, creamy with a hit of hazelnut, even my husband was impressed. We will definitely be returning, need to try the Mexican chicken baguette next time.

What an amazing independent Caffe….. A little gem, which I’d highly recommend…. George the owner is a very friendly, welcoming and gracious Italian man…. Who’s been here for many years. I was on business and enjoyed my breakfast there this week. All personally cooked fresh by George and he wants to serve you at the table….. The food was amazing…. Scrambled eggs and crispy bacon on toast…. It’s also very responsible priced. Thanks George, I’ll look forward to visiting you again next time I’m in Banbury. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻

Saturday visit to this what can only be described as a Joke of an eating establishment. It was lunchtime a table occupied with around 6 and a table outside with around 4. A chalked up small notice board on the counter said kitchen was closed for cleaning for 10 mins. The 2counter staff ignored us so we sat down and looked at the menu then approached the counter and asked when the kitchen would be alright to order, response was not at all inspiring simply told I'd hear a bell. Shortly after some others came in seemed to be regulars and got "served". We left........ Shocking place

I was sitting upstairs and talking about the Microsoft meeting. When I came to the Caffee shop, It says that seating upstairs is available, and the owner suddenly came and shouted. so rude !! Although I was meeting with group of people on the team and was shocked, you cannot talk to such people. Definitely not recommended, he does not know how to talk to people. Do not put this note in the 'available' seating. The owner was so rude! Shame!!! I was embarrassed in the meeting. I had really bad experience. it has supposed to be seat in Caffe shop. I could not find any words to explain my experience. I have never met that kind of person. Awfull!!

We popped in for coffee, having been in over a year ago, and wondered why we haven't been in sooner. Ended up with panini lunch which was just lovely Avoid the corporates and come here. The team who work here are so polite and look after you Pls sort that cracked mirror though. It looks shabby Thank you

Service was excellent, although it wasn’t busy, it didn’t change the fact that orders were taken almost immediately. Food was Incredible! A perfect portion for a brilliant price. I would definitely recommend this place!

Used to come here a lot, so thought we would pop in today as in the area. Can't fault the service or food but the cafe needs to close down and have a deep clean. It looks neglected. The back area where the toilet is located was disgusting. The staff could smarten up their appearance as well. Definitely won't be returning sorry.

Really enjoyed the lunch today,pleasant staff nothing too much trouble,however the toilets let this restaurant down badley. Floor and surfaces dirty,seat broken and then the hand dryer didn't work. And I certainly would not lay a child down to change them.This has unfortunately made us come to the conclusion not to visit this restaurant again.

Omg since I found this italian place I don't go anywhere else for breakfast on a Saturday morning before shopping in Banbury. It is so nice to be greated at the door and shown to a table, food is excellent, staff are very helpful and prices average. We have been going there for 7 months now and not one complaint. You must try it for yourself 🤓

Nice place for our lunch. Food was fine. Excellent service from our waitress who was on her first day. Only thing that spoiled our visit was the shared toilet. It was not very clean. No hot water and the hand drier did not work.

I was kinda shockedf when my co worker suggested this place, i walk past it a lot, and always assumed it would be another overly expensive clustertruck of a place, but since our store moved a few doors down from them i figured i would give it a try and I do not regret it The food was cooked spot fresh, i could see it being made, the staff were polite, courtious, the music was delightful and the place smelled amazing this is a good place Great price Smashing

5 stars for Cafe Veneto! I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a latte at Cafe Veneto in Banbury, and I was very impressed. The coffee was perfectly made, with a rich, creamy flavor and a smooth finish. It was clear that the barista used high-quality beans and knew how to make a great cup of coffee. The owner/manager seemed to be on edge all the time maybe his meds were wearing off not a relaxing place to be

I decided to head to the cafe yesterday morning to work for a couple of hours as I’d eaten there at the weekend several times and really liked the atmosphere. When asking if they had WiFi and a plug I could use to charge my laptop they kindly said yes. I ordered a drink and sat for an hour whilst listening in to a teams work call. As I was about to order some food the man who I assume is the manager came over and said “45 minutes” and walked off shaking his hands to me, I asked if they were closing confused and he said no that it’s not an office and that I can only stay for 45 more minutes, that he could have had 3 more lots of people use this table whilst I’ve been sat there - bear in mind it was pretty empty all morning. I explained I was about to order some food and he rudely said he didn’t care. I’ve never experienced such awful customer service - if they aren’t happy for people to stay for a longer period of time they should say before you order anything and not offer the WiFi. I was in there last Saturday for about 2 hours with a family member and wasn’t kicked out, so they clearly have a problem unless you’re a group of people spending enough money. Will not be going again after how I was treated.

The food and coffee weren’t great. But the service was very hostile. I had cooked breakfast and a coffee and was immediately told that I was not welcome to stay for more than one hour. Never had that experience before when trying to work in a cafe with a laptop.

Owner was rude and disrespectful. Didn't stay so visited the amazing Missing Bean Coffee Shop opposite.

What a nice surprise coming here. We went off the Tripadvisor reviews and we wasn’t disappointed. My husband and I both had omelette which was delicious. And staff where friendly. I totally recommend this place.

Extremely slow and dirty! My partner and I went for lunch. We ordered lasagna and a baked potato. It was an hour from when we sat until we got out food, in the mid time no member of the staff came to apologise or offered any explanation. The owner seemed very stressed, shouting at the staff. The food was average and the coffee diluted. In the hour sat there we realised how dirty the place was. Dust in all the decor, sticky electric socket, bad ventilation, dirty cutlery. The toilet was disgusting too. The plane definitely needs a deep cleaning.

The one star is for the disgusting toilet. Come on guys sort it out. It's dated and dirty. I enjoyed my lunch (had an omelet), the service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was good but I'd would never use the toilet again.

Lovely unplanned breakfast (when did macdonalds ) . Told to take a seat as soon as I walked in, waiter come straight over to ask if I wanted a drink while I read menu. Drink brought over and followed promptly by food. Food was perfect would of like more mushrooms and tomato but that just me. Deffinatly going back some time

Walked in to look at giant wall menu above the bar and was immediately barked at by a rude man behind the counter. I didn't come into town for a row so left. Not sure hospitality is the calling for this chap.

Got there at 4 to be told there closed. On website says 5pm. Need to update it

This is by far the very best place to eat in Banbury. Their service is imecable, their costs are very reasonable and their food is the best Italian food I have experienced in a very long time. I travel widely and can fully recommend anyone visiting Banbury to go here first. I don't know where they get their coffee but I haven't tasted better outside of Italy! My wife and I have been going here for 8 years and the standards never slip.

Lovely breakfast place. We are visiting Banbury from the States for the F1 GP and we highly recommend Cafe Veneto for breakfast and lunch. The food is delicious and the service is quick and friendly.

Second time we've visited. Relaxed place for lunch or coffee and Cake. Not overpriced at all. Bruschetta's are fresh, authentic and that nice I had it second time round too. Very good coffees or a cold Perroni. . Definitely visiting again soon .

Decent cafe, excellent (and relatively cheap!) coffee

I stopped at Banbury to an alternative to a service station stop on the M40. This cafe was easy enough to get to, a short walk from a reasonably well placed car park that charges £1 for the hour. I had a breakfast sandwich, coffee, andddddd..a second drink! Do you want to know why I had two drinks? Because the places was cheap enough to do that, coffee was less than £3 and the other drink was about £2. The coffee was also great. I was very impressed with the prices and service and the food was tasty too. I'll be stopping again when I pass. Hopefully prices will continue to stay reasonable and you don't become like them robbers at Costa!

Wonderful cafe, the breakfasts are superb! 100% recommended.

Called in here for breakfast with the parents. Their menu offers a lot of choices. I had the full English. Table service was friendly. We all enjoyed our food which was very good value for money. I would have preferred proper rashers of bacon rather than the thin strips of crispy bacon but that is just me being picky. Their coffees were also good. I have given them 5 stars as there was nothing to fault on the day we visited. I would call in again for a breakfast in the future.

Quality coffee and great breakfast at reasonable price. I had an espresso and full English breakfast and it was very nice the ingredients are of a high quality and the coffee was spot on. Friendly and helpful staff and a welcoming environment highly recommend.

Popped in as I was looking for a place to sit for a couple of hours whilst waiting for my car to be serviced locally. I was upfront and said I’d prob need a table for a couple of hours but would be having breakfast and coffee but was told I couldn’t do this rather bluntly and rudely. I never understand why people like the guy I spoke go into the hospitality service… Clearly missed the customer experience and long term customer value memos. Went to the Pinto Lounge just round the corner who had no problem with me staying for a couple of hours. Very friendly, great coffee, food, service and atmosphere; I’m much happier they’ll be getting my money.

My son and myself were going through the town. I saw this coffee shop the restaurant my son is autistic needed to go to the toilet went into the shop the restaurant to go to the toilet. The manager there I found very rude he came up to us in the restaurant area in the back, toilets where there was many people off the restaurant and shouted you don’t use my toilet when I tried to explain to him my son is autistic and has difficulties he said I don’t care if he’s got no legs. I don’t care who he is. This is the type of place that you are going into I’ll be very careful in, where are you dine Banbury would not recommend a place, very aggressive many members of the staff as we left the restaurant spat on the floor us. This is disgusting for a professional member of the community and I have a son that has difficulties discrimination to the highest level stay clear of this place.

I’m very sorry to have to write this negative review but I had a most horrible experience at this cafe. My daughter took me there for a breakfast treat the Saturday before Mother’s Day 2023. Firstly, we were told to sit at a particular table even though there were many other free, which we said we’d prefer. Anyway, we complied. After we’d given our order another table near us which had a comfy bench became free and we asked if we could please move as it was more cosy looking, our request was accommodated and we were very happy. Then our drinks were brought but there was no sign of our breakfasts. I inquired and was told they were very busy in a rude manner. After about 10 minutes my daughter’s breakfast arrived and she’d had requested a hard fried egg as she doesn’t like runny eggs. I noticed that her egg was runny and I said to her, ‘you asked for a hard fried egg?’, she said‘I know but I’ll just leave it, I can’t eat it like that!’ I said no you have to have one you can eat, you’ll be paying for it!. So I went up and requested if they could fry it a bit more to make it hard. The man behind the counter said, it’s your fault you changed tables, we are very busy! He was very rude but took the whole breakfast back! Then my breakfast arrived. I’d already drank my coffee so I had to order another one as I like my hot drink with my meal. Then my daughter’s order came and the egg was done as she’d requested. By the time my coffee came I’d finished my breakfast. The staff were rude the whole time rolling their eyes every time they came to serve us. When my daughter went up to pay at the end of our visit, they just rolled their eyes and never even said thank you! I would never go there again which is a pity as I’d been there about a year and a half before that and the service and food was delightful. I don’t know if it’s changed hands? It was a dreadful experience we were very disappointed.

A nice welcome always starts the day right. 😊 The warm, dog friendly welcome here was followed by delicious coffee and a good plate of scrambled eggs and bacon for me and a delicious crepe with maple syrup and crispy bacon 🥓 for my wife. Very reasonably priced menu. Lovely rustic decor creates a warm atmosphere.

Nice comfortable place with a good variety of options on the menu. They even have an alcohol licence.

Simple Italian restaurant with a large menu and all day breakfast available. I ordered the special lasagne which was $7.95 and came with garlic bread and a hot or cold drink. Good portion size and freshly cooked. Garlic bread was interesting - not my type of garlic bread but nice to have a side as part of the main. Restaurant decor is a bit run down but a homey feel regardless.

No frills, but comfortable place to get a good cheap meal. The tea was overpriced for the size of the tea pot, but not excessively so. £7.80 for a bacon and egg bap and two pots of tea.

We were looking for a dog friendly place for lunch and came across Cafe Vento. Very friendly staff. Had the lasagna which was excellent. Followed by coffee and cake also excellent. Great value very friendly. Definitely recommended and we’ll be back too.

I have had food at Cafe Veneto on a couple of occasions, mainly brunch. Food is really good, prices are reasonable. Service friendly but not particularly quick. Food is worth the wait.

Stopped here on our way east. Quick and friendly service. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. We would call in here again if we pass this way.
