Caffe Pausa in Eastbourne

Do visit here quite regularly. I have tried to find an email to make contact but can’t find it easily. I have a concern around the knowledge given to staff around how to handle customers with allergies. There are lots of signs that encourage customers to ask for ingredients every time if they have an allergy as ingredients change. Staff regularly seem frustrated when asked if products have nuts/peanuts in. This seems to be because they are not fully sure on how to check or because they have to find this info out using a slow tablet/device. I would ask that this is reviewed asap as it prevents me as a customer wanting to raise allergies with staff. I am sure others will feel the same as this has happened several times and may result in a very dangerous situation for a customer if staff do not feel confident in handling allergy disclosures. Recently I changed my order as multiple staff were trying to work out if the product had nuts in it. I felt guilty given the cafe was busy and they were spending such a long time looking, but also concerned that staff did not seem confident in what they were looking for and I might be misinformed. I have a severe allergy which can cause anaphylaxis so I need staff to be able to give full assurance on ingredients. I did let staff know that I understand products can say ‘may contain’ which is fine, but I need to know if my allergy is an actual ingredient.

Visit this fairly regularly. Can be a bit of hit and miss regarding availability of food. The staff are usually friendly and it’s quite good value. When they have the jacket potatoes they’re good and the scones aren’t bad.

Prior to Christmas Eve, I double checked with the staff if they were open and serving food on Christmas Eve, so I could treat the family to late lunch once I’d finished work. I was assured that if we came at 2.00, there would be plenty of food and they were serving hot food until 3.30. Met the family there at 2.00, no jacket potatoes, no soup, no panini’s. All they had were 2 cheese toasties. The three people behind the counter were very nice, but no food to serve.

Awful service , que was half an hour gave up as staff rude as well , cannot believe it takes that long to serve four couples ,

Service absolutely terrible. Long queue with one person serving the queue. Other staff faffing around not doing much. Service SO slow. "Can't have this or that....wrong time!!!" Ran out of most things by 1 pm. No smiles from staff. Food and drink fine...pity about the Service.

Long wait for order to be taken and for dirty tables to be cleared so we could sit down. Even though it was a weekend lunchtime, very few of the menu options were actually available e.g. no jacket potatoes, no paninis, very few sandwiches etc.. when the food did finally arrive, it was extremely average.

Frequent customer to this cafe and ALWAYS greeted pleasantly by the friendly staff. Welcoming atmosphere, to the extent of suggesting that I help with the washing up! Never been disappointed with the quality of the food and drink. Any criticism is more than likely the fault of the miserable nature of 'never satisfied under any circumstance' customer.

Came for a quick food stop, on a Sunday. To start with, we were greeted by a not so happy face… with a miserable attitude to come along with it. There are 4/5 staff members behind the bar… all of which seemed to have the same attitude. They were arguing in front of customers, seemed to take three members of staff to put drinks correctly on one tray. There is a sign stating to ask for allergy information. So we did, we were told they didn’t know, they couldn’t offer us anything, so we asked a few more questions to find out there were options available. They just clearly couldn’t be arsed to make the effort. After we had submitted our order we went to sit down and wait for our food. Two of our plates came- however, the third did not. After waiting 5 minutes we went up to ask. Apparently having an allergy made it too confusing so she forgot to write down our third order (charged us for it though). Just an unpleasant experience - they then continued to moan about another member of staff behind the bar!! So very unprofessional.

Sadly no longer doing poached eggs or croissants, both of which were popular so what’s the reason? Some members of staff seem a little grumpy. Coffee is not always nice & hot at breakfast time.

Dreadful staff member, dark hair, I asked if any other dessert was available as saw lots over the back covered with cellophane, as those in cabinet would make me ill, was told 'no, and no hot food either as they had been rushed off their feet all day'. So chose cheese scone and hot drinks, when asked did I want the scone heated up, I replied no thanks, as felt uncomfortable after her comments and service. The other lady tried to smile when giving over the drinks, felt sorry for her. Lots of tables not cleared either. Maybe get more staff or retrain. Won't visit again, 3.30pm Dec 29 th 2023

Where’s the management? We visited for a quick sandwich lunch. Should have gone elsewhere when we saw the queue out the door, which wasn’t moving. The wash up was counting the saucers, the woman on food prep washed her hands 3 times while I waited with everyone else. The server at the counter was very slow, very grumpy and seemed to think every time she told someone she’d run out of something, it was a victory for the team who obviously didn’t want to prepare it. Where’s the manager of this store? It has a complete lack of direction. After waiting 20 minutes and seeing everyone else get a pre packed sandwich dumped on a plate, we went elsewhere and had a nice lunch. Very poor.

Four staff but service slow and the customers are the least of their worries- chatting to each other is more important! Couldn’t have a cream tea as no cream. Had a cheese scone that was warmed so much it was like rubber. Coffee insipid and mediocre. Tables not clean or cleared quickly. All in all don’t bother visiting.

It was very difficult to choose something that looked edible in the chiller cabinet as it looked as if the slices of cake had just been thrown onto plates, so we had a scone instead. Tea and cappuccino were fine. The main quibble was with the staff. They were the most miserable bunch of people I've ever come across. They just made you feel a downright nuisance. They really need a lesson in customer care. Needless to say, I won't be going again!

Was here today with daughter and granddaughter. We had poached eggs on toast with coffee. Just perfect! Staff are lovely, very good value too. Thumbs up!

Ordered a simple cream Tea but wanted Decaff tea due to a dietary prlen with Caffeine. This was not possible. They seem to cater for vegans etc. It seems very easy to change the tea bag.

On a restricted diet , but couldn’t and wouldn’t take certain foods out of sandwiches so I could eat , lady in charge said only way is me to take it out , as a cancer patient on chemo pump that day , found it very upsetting and uncomfortable, ordered a coffee that was cold as coffee machine had broken only instant or bag coffee available , and two cold Pepsi with two glasses that had just come out of the dishwasher hot x Not impressed with no customer care at all , just interested in getting the queue down and not in customer satisfaction. Tables also were not cleared quickly . For the sum of £22 will not be visiting again .

A really nice and modern cafe. Very clean with friendly and welcoming staff . Quality of food is excellent.

Had been shopping in Dunelm and as it was lunchtime thought we would trip the cafe. Good staff and choice as one of us is gluten free - sandwich arrived with fries and side salad both of which unexpected.

Went to Dunelm Eastbourne Store yesterday decided to try out the new cafe. I bought 2 lattes a plain scone and a fruit scone. The coffee was fine however the scones we're awful, the fruit scone looked like a thick biscuit fell apart as it was so dry, the plain scone was solid not what you expect when you've paid over £9 . The staff looked under pressure one customer pointed out to the cashier that there was a half empty cup of coffee on his tray along with his order, turned out to be a chap who was working in the store left his half finished coffee down and a member of staff put it on with the customers order, perhaps more in house training needed. Dunelm is one of my favourite stores love it but my experience yesterday in the Restaurant has put me of eating there again very disappointed.

We went to Dunelm for some shopping and found a Pausa Coffee Shop inside, decided to go in and see what it was like. Everywhere was very clean and there were a few people sitting at tables when we arrived just after 2.30pm on a Friday. There was an excellent selection of cakes to choose from, hubby got a coffee and walnut cake slice and I got the Valentines cake which was raspberry and lemonade. We both really liked our cakes. Mine was really sweet and I was surprised at how much the taste of lemonade came across. Hubby had a diet coke and I had a regular latte - my coffee did have quite a few coffee grain bits in it, which was a shame but it tasted very nice. There are quite a few different things to eat on the menu - also two soup options, there was a separate blackboard of dishes for vegans. I noticed lots of toasties and sandwiches in one fridge and there are also jacket potatoes available with lots of different fillings. We would certainly go here again.

Shopping in store and we just wanted a snack and a drink. I had toast and a pot of tea which was very reasonable cost. The cakes looked good and I took home a mince pie that was on offer with a drink. I ate the mince pie later at home and was good. My friend had a warmed cheese scone with a xmas special got chocolate which she said was nice.

Have been here on a few occasions and have found the teas, coffees and food to be very tasty. The only problem seems to be with one of the young cashiers behind the counter. Had the misfortune of being served by her each time. She actually rolls her eyes at you when you order your drinks and gives a ‘look’ to the other staff, if you take more than 2 seconds choosing your food !! She looked so surly and miserable, we wondered whether or not to stay, as it seemed she really did not want to be serving us. We purposely were very, very polite, as was made to feel she was doing us a great favour by serving us, but it made no difference. We thought at one point she was going to start a row !! Don’t think we’ll bother again. She was the same to the couple behind us too.

El restaurante está en la esquina trasera del edificio, muy oscuro y sin atmósfera.Los precios están en línea con Costa, pero la calidad y el servicio es muy al azar.Panini cocido con queso quemado y guarnición de ensalada pobre, cafés bien.La orden tomó una era: el sistema de pedidos parecía muy caótico y desorganizado. El cajero y las cafeteras mantuvieron conversaciones muy informales a pleno rendimiento mientras atendían a los clientes. Simplemente no parecía organizado. La chica que hacía las bebidas y los paninis parecía ser extremadamente inexperta, lo que me hace preguntarme qué tipo de entrenamiento reciben.Casi no había ningún lugar donde sentarse, no porque estuviera ocupado, sino porque ninguna de las mesas había sido limpiada. Limpiamos nuestra propia mesa y usamos servilletas de papel para limpiarlas. Creo que otros habían tenido la misma idea, incluso había bandejas en el piso.Solo elegiría esto otra vez si estuviera muy desesperado o si aumentaran drásticamente su juego.

Los precios promedio para la autopista fayre. Bollo fue £1:55, pero sólo con un pequeño descuento en mantequilla. pat Pat era un pago extra. Me preguntaron sobre mermelada y me miraban como si yo había pedido un cóctel de Champaña.De todos modos, no nos haremos honrando su presencia de nuevo.

Decidimos tomar un café rápido después buscando unos artículos en la tienda. No de nuevo. La mujer haciendo café necesitaba supervisión de un colega. Infructuosamente. Pedí un capuchino pequeño no regular, y tenía menos de una pulgada de café en el fondo de la taza. Dos sorbos y eso fue todo. Claramente un error - Yo creo el pequeño es invisible!
