The place is okay, and one of the waitresses is lovely and kind. However, the older man with glasses is incredibly rude, not only to the customers but also to the staff. They overcharged us, and instead of apologizing, he spoke to us as if we had done something wrong. He became even ruder when we mentioned that he didn't need to talk to customers like that. Everything in this place is overpriced.

Popped in here for a quick lunch with family. Seating area was lovely and bright and clean and nice Christmas music was playing quietly. Staff were really welcoming and friendly and the food was great. I had a panini and a cake.

This is a regular stop for us after walking in the park or by the river at Richmond. It is always a wonderful oasis of great coffee, cakes and salads / paninis. Their falafel is the best ever in my view. Very welcoming service and also worth checking out the deli shelves for great Italian made pasta and other Italian foods. Highly recommended , unpretentious cafe.

Don’t take this review as a bad criticism but hopefully as a constructive one. I think panini are too expensive for what you get, if you want to keep charging the same please make sure you fill them up properly and make them worth their price. Also good to state the “IN” price a little better because we only noticed the “OUT” price which was at least £3 cheaper. £8.90 for a panini is a lot of money and I can undestand jt if the panini is worth the money, so please maybe rethink the way you serve them. Atmosphere is ok but staff seemed pretty new or shy and weren’t really comfortable. It’s ok for a quick bite on the go I guess.

Wonderful cafe in the heart of Richmond. We had freshly baked pastries straight from the oven. Best croissants in London! Atmosphere is friendly with amazing staff.

The food, coffee and waiting staff were excellent. However the male proprietor seemed to be very unpleasant to the two young waitresses, berating one for doing something wrong while amidst the seated customers ('what's wrong with you?') and being inpatient with them at the till, when they asked him things etc. We though the two female staff were doing a great job in apparently difficult circumstances, and felt sorry for them. Made for an uncomfortable visit - perhaps it was a one off on a bad day. But staff should be treated with respect.

Overall food tasty and good atmosphere. Wrap Shawarma, savoury and sweet crepes were excellent. Tea per person made with one teabag was expensive (£3.60) and medium size florentine was £4.90, which I thought was expensive for what you get. Tuna salad was adequate.

So pleased I've found this special little cafe. There's so much choice and tasty treats on offer! I had the most incredible baguette for lunch and I cant wait to return and try out the whole menu. Also the guys who work there are so welcoming and friendly. A really refreshing and great cafe, highly recommend.

Walked this morning from teddington lock to Richmond. Gasping for a coffee when we arrived but so disappointing to find so many coffee shops closed or their toilets closed. Almost gave up then we stumbled on Caffe Paola. Very welcoming, great latte and pastry. An oasis in the desert that is Richmond town as far as coffee shops concerned. This place is on our hit list for future visits for lunch with it’s good range of baguettes . Forget the rest of Richmond head for here

Unfussy café with welcoming staff, although the décor was a little uninspiring. I had the lasagne and my friend had the shepard’s pei, both of which came with side salads. They were both reasonable and sufficiently filling, but nothing amazing. The cakes/traybakes looked excellent though so I might try one of those if I was passing in the future

The food was clearly freshly prepared in house by an incredibly inviting and talkative Lebanese chef. The products to buy were brilliant, bought sauces and olive oil which have proven to be delicious. Great experience and low calorie.

So happy to stumble into a warm, dry place on a Sunday when it was nonstop sleet, snow and rain in turns. I was going to the Odeon on the bridge for a special event so wanted to eat as close as possible as I was already cold and wet enough.

Having recently moved to Richmond, I was on the prowl for small easy eateries close to my new home. Caffe Paola is a must! A really lovely team, completely delicious home cooked food, uncomplicated and friendly great service, and the BEST shawarma wraps I have ever ever tasted. They also do a delicious line in home made sweet pastries.

Visited early Sunday morning - before the masses, lovely fresh and clean place with friendly staff....... made a change from the run of the mill 'Starbucks' type madhouses. Mega-sized bowls of coffee or themed muffins are not the order of the day here - perhaps a more european way of taking your coffee?Smaller portion size - sometimes small is beautiful ;-)

Asked for an iced chai latte with soy. First of all they seemed disdainful that I asked for chai with ice, apparently that is not acceptable in England, but whatever. Second of all, they straight up gave me dairy milk, I drank it; actually though I am allergic to dairy, I went into anaphylactic shock on my walk home and almost died. Luckily I was able to inject myself with an epi-pen and I was okay some 2 hours later. They should be more careful next time.

This cafe is positioned on the lower half of Hill Rise, between Richmond Bridge and Compass Hill before the road becomes Petersham Road. Because of the position near the roundabout to Richmond Bridge, there is a lot of traffic, including double decker buses queuing outside. Now for some people, maybe bus spotters, that's a bonus, for others it's a problem. For me, it's just part of living in the lovely town of Richmond. Once inside the cafe, you are well insulated from the noise and fumes.Depending on the time of day I have a cappuccino or espresso. Coffee is generally excellent, although a couple of times I've had some that isn't up to their normal standard. They have a tempting array of cakes etc, but I've only tried a couple in what must be the 12 or 15 years I've been coming here. That's down to willpower and an unforgiving waistband because their food always looks very tempting.

Cafe Paola looks like a nice place to eat, it's clean, the sandwich fillings look fresh and staff are very friendly! But the coffee is dreadful!, which is surprising seeing the container on the back counter says Illey Coffee!! which is 100% Arabica. My Flat White coffee was weak and bitter.. the coffee to milk ratio was wrong.. it was more like a Latte. Compared to Cafe Nero, who serve excellent coffee, or even Eat,! Cafe Paolo get does not get my vote!

As a dovotee of good coffee, I was surprised to find Caffe Paola, just by Richmond Bridge in Hill rise. It is excellent.I just went in for an excellent double espresso and a croissant and was delighted. The café feels clean and modern and it has great views from the admittedly small window, of the river and Richmond Bridge. You can even see the statue of Bernado O'Higgins, the founder of modern Chile, who went to school nearbyThe staff were very friendly, and the menu, with a Lebanese theme, looks very attractive.I will certainly return.

We were wandering down Richmond Hill into Richmond before walking along the river to Kew and wanted a drink, so we saw this place, which looked like a nice little independent cafe, and went in. They have table service, but we ordered while looking at the cakes. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday, especially as there was rugby at Twickenham later that day. We tries a few things like a pecan tart, a white and dark chocolate brownie and a chocolate muffin. The cakes were all good, the coffee was too. The price was reasonable and the service was good too.

Possibly the worst cooked breakfast we’ve ever attempted to eat . The service was polite and no problems there but the food was simply awful . Processed ham , a pale fried egg and some frozen chips . Indelible and the little I ate repeated on me all day , my daughter felt quite unwell after attempting to eat the full English - managed 1 sausage toast and a few beans . Go over the bridge and there are some beautiful cafes instead.

We went here as a family on a Sunday for lunch, the 4 of us ate in the bar ordered at the bar and were shocked to find we were charged 10% service charge for eating in the bar, which is separate from the restaurant, apart from bringing our food to our table I don’t know why we were charged this service charge for as we did not receive table service. The roast dinner we ordered at £21 each for myself and my partner was exactly the same size portion as my sons child’s roast that cost £8.50, when we complained to the manager we were told ‘to order a kids portion next time to save some money’, lovely customer relations, we were told that this is a chain. The place is always empty now we see why, the service is shocking, there are flies everywhere. We will not be returning to this profiteering extortionate bar again.

A lovely venue. Friendly and helpful staff. We only went in for a drink but next time will have a meal. Food looked good and judging by the amount of people in the restaurant it is a popular venue.

We have enjoyed eating here in the past but on this occasion it was a definite deux points. When you pay nearly £50 for two small plates of fish and chips and two pints of cider you expect it to be better than the fish and chips at Morrisons. Instead the fish was dry and clearly not restaurant quality while the chips were indifferent at best. If I’d paid £8 in a cafe I would have been disappointed but in a “bistro” pub that pretends to be a Belgian style restaurant it feels like yet another eating establishment that has lost its way.
