Caffe Nero - Banstead in Reigate and Banstead

Extremely frustrated when trying to redeem a voucher for a free coffee after collecting enough stamps. Was told to pay extra before I could have my coffee which was meant to be free. Barista refused to take the extra charge off and had zero customer service skill. After raising my issue with Customer Support several times over the past four weeks I not had one reply from Neros. Clearly not interested in customer care just profit

After having been meeting friends here for coffee and cake every week for over 8 years, I have decided not to go there again, as it has gone totally downhill. It is not particularly clean,, but that aside, on my last visit - Monday 18th March - I felt totally irritated and ripped-off. Although we arrived at 3 p.m. - surely not late in the day for coffee and cake - there was very little available in the way of cake. I complained about this but no reply was forthcoming. The only item that appealed was the chocolate doughnut. However, as only a fresh doughnut is enjoyable, and I have been given stale ones there on previous occasions, I asked the man behind the counter whether it was fresh and he said that it was. I ordered it, and a Macchiata, to eat in. I have been having a running battle with them for several weeks over the macchiata, as they only pour about a tablespoon of it into the small espresso cup. Having complained again about this, I eventually received a decent amount and took it and the doughnut to our table. I cut into the doughnut to find that it was rock-hard, and inedible. I took it back to the counter and said that it was stale and hard. I was told that it was only hard because it had been in the fridge. Surely, if they know keeping it in the fridge makes it hard, they should have the brains to take it out the fridge? I said that I did not want it, and asked for a refund. I was offered something else, but there was nothing at all that appealed from their very, very limited offers. The barista suggested a slice of Lemon Drizzle cake, but the last time that I had that, it was dry and tasteless, so I declined. There was absolutely nothing enjoyable about my visit to this coffee shop, except the company of my friends. There are many coffee shops in Banstead High Street in which to meet my friends, so I will not be visiting Cafe Nero again.

Such a shame, used to be a really good Nero, staff were lovely. Been twice recently, staff are miserable, some of them no customer service skills at all, if you don't like people, don't work in front line customer service roles, basic!! Shop is also looking shabby, needs a refurbishment, with so much competition in Banstead, really think Nero need to pull their 'socks up', staff training & decor. Used to be my first choice for a coffee, won't be anymore.

I never write reviews but everytime I go into this shop I feel extremely let down. Usually I find Neros pleasant but this shop has totally put me off the brand. The staff is extremely slow and unorganised, there always seems to be a trainee who creates the wrong drink or a miserable employee. Twice occasions I have waited at the till to be served and been completely ignored by staff to the point I have actually walked out. Worst shop on the high street!

This shop has really gone downhill! It is ABSOLUTELY filthy which it shouldn't be at 7.30 a.m. Last 5 days coffee served in take away cups only, no stirrersand no canderal today.

We’ve visited a number of times and have previously forgiven the dark setting. This time we sat in the ‘comfy’ seats and I wonder when they last received a clean let alone a vacuum. Bits of biscuit. The seats are stained too! Tables didn’t look like they’d seen any cleaning fluid in a very long time.

My wife and have eaten here a few times for lunch and we both like the pole & line tuna melt panini. The staff here are always really friendly. However, we were really disappointed to have noticed that the food hygiene rating has reduced recently to a 1 from the Food Standards Agency. Therefore, we unfortunately won’t be eating here again until the rating goes back up to a 4 or 5.

I can forgive running out of a festive syrup or waiting a bit for my hot food as they were busy. What shocked me was the trainee barista who took it upon herself to spread her conspiracy views on Covid to several customers who were waiting on their drinks, while one person was still trying to serve a long queue. When asked to stop by a colleague she then shouted back at her in front of customers. It seems this lady needs to learn about her role more and focus on the customer service side. I felt sorry for the other members of staff working as she really let the team down.

Decor could do with a refurbishment. A bit dark inside. Coffee could be better. Poor in comparison to the one in nearby Cheam Village which I love.

We were very impressed with Nero in Banstead. There was hand sanitiser at the door and one further into the shop; we were asked to use the nhs test and trace scanner; the tables were spaced out and clean (though I'm not sure they were sanitised between customers) and the staff was friendly.

Sundays ...good to sit down, chill out, and read the paper...and my partner likes this too! No one bothers if your quick coffee is a long one,,,

Popped in to Caffé Nero to meet up with a friend. There’s a nice atmosphere in this busy coffee shop. Fresh pastries and sandwiches look very tempting. Coffee hot and tasty.

My first choice for a great coffee. It's a comfortable setting and nicely located to sit outside in good weather too.

We love Cafe Nero Banstead - the coffee is great and good value for money. Moreover we can bring our little dog into the cafe. I have to say this really encourages us to keep returning - they will continue to keep our custom. Nothing better than the whole family: kids and doggie being able to chill out together over coffee and muffins reading the weekend papers. Well done Cafe Nero.

We visited on a Sunday morning. Unlike a rival establishment further down the road, the doorstep was not strewn with resting bicycles and the seating was not festooned with drying lycra. It's a lovely establishment. Surprisingly airy inside (it extends back further than it looks from the road) and quick service too - although it was relatively quiet given the time of day. Coffee is as coffee does in these chains but I do like having the opportunity to pick the mix for a cold drink from the chiller cabinet before the counter staff do the business with the ice cubes and the blender to create the drink. The food is also good - especially the almond croissants. A tip if you're driving into Banstead and it's a Sunday by the way - it's £1 for the whole day on the municipal car park nearby.

Got the order wrong for the two customers in front of me. Then completely ignored me! Very poor service

Having been shopping, the welcoming warmth and smells of Caffe Nero embraced us as we walked in. For a mid Saturday morning, although busy, we still found seats for the two of us. Such a difference from the standard Costas and Starbucks, a range of seating from comfy chairs to normal tables, welcoming and happy staff that could not do enough for you! Ordering was quick and professional, the daughter had a hot chocolate with cream and the usual chocolate sprinkles along with double muffin thingie (more chocolate I know, bad parenting again)!! I settled for an americano to get some pep back into the system! We settled down and enjoyed our break - the tables were clean as were the toilets, you couldn't ask for anything more! A super place to meet and relax - thank you indeed!

Came here early in the morning to kill some time. There were two people working there, one making coffee and the other faffing about with pastries. I waited, and waited... then the pastries person, who I thought to be a trainee as she hadn't offered to serve me, finally finished laying out her croissants and deigned to serve me some watery coffee. Perhaps she was a trainee after all. Plus points: it was warm in there. And dry.

Banstead high street... sometimes its almost painful to find somewhere for coffee time, but rest assured, Nero always has a seat. You know it's worth it...

Excellently run by the multi- lingual friendly staff . Always feel welcome there and they remember what you regularly drink ...quite a feat as they must see hundreds of people per day ! Thanks guys for your superb service

Popped in here to meet with my girlfriend for a coffee and a natter. It's always the same here - happy staff, good coffee and a nice atmosphere to chat in.

I visit this branch quite often and always get a smile and excellent service . The guys who work there create a good atmosphere. It's full of good seating too , ideal for small business meetings and social visits .

This is a great place to meet up with friends for a lovely coffee and pastry great staff courteous and friendly as this is local to us we frequently use it with lovely outside seating also do soups pan ins etc and takeaway .

With the best roast coffee outside of Milan!!Welcoming atmosphere with attentive staff. Stronger flavour coffee or go for one-shot for the lighter taste. Good selection of pastries and lighter snacks including porridge for breakfast.Recommend the Almond croissant or Lemon & Poppyseed muffin. We visit here a lot and always enjoy a nice coffee and one of their great cakes. It always seems to be busy which we like in a coffee shop.The staff are great always welcoming and helpful, we also like the reward scheme, will be back to use one of my full cards soon.J & M

We have been regular visitors to Banstead Caffe Nero's ever since the first day of business. The staff are attentive, hard working and facilitate a great atmosphere - whether working (I wrote much of a book there) or enjoying a coffee with friends I highly recommend a visit.

Great place to meet people for a catch up over coffee and some cake, ideally situated in the highstreet and nice to sit outside in the summer people watching.

Good coffee , good location sat outside with my husband on a lovely sunny day sipping coffee watching the world go by will be back.

I often meet my daughter at Caffe Nero for a catch up chat and coffee! It is the best coffee in Banstead. The staff are friendly, helpful, and the coffee is consistently good. A good selection of fresh Danish pastries and cakes always available .Lots of comfortable seats and always clean. A perfect place to chill out!.

As Banstead residents with a penchant for coffee and cake, we have been regulars at Caffe Nero for years, and can't recommend it enough. The usual Caffe Nero coffee (which is delicious), and cakes, but with lovely welcoming and smiley staff who make you feel valued as a customer. It is always clean and the staff go out of their way to be helpful, including customising my drinks! As the previous reviewer commented, this is the opposite to the surly staff and grimy surroundings of Costa up the road!

Lovely coffee served by friendly, smiley staff which compared to the grumpy lot at Costa up the road is a much nicer way to start the day! Nice seating inside and a much more pleasant environment all round. Only needed to go a few days in a row to be then treated like a long time regular..this chain know how to treat their customers right..a little goes a long way, its not rocket science but you'd be surprised at how difficult the rivals find it. no contest here..Caffe Nero wins every time.

Coffee is of a high standard, slightly more bitter than the likes of Starbucks * Cafe Costa but tastes a bit more like Italian coffee. Service is very good, staff are helpful and will recognise you quickly if you return. Avoid the 8.45-9.15am slot in term time unless you're a mum with small children. Usually easy to get a seat, this helps.
