Caffè Nero in Newcastle upon Tyne

Ideally situated on Gosforth high street, near parking, always warm and welcoming, feels like a coffee shop should do.

Unfortunately not decent coffee! They have to be trained what’s the difference between cappuccino and flat white. I’ve had flat white but it was frothed more than cappuccino.

Insufficient staff, long queue, dissapointing coffee by Nero standards and uncouth clientele. I won't rush back

Cannot make a decent coffee and gets snappy when we asked to make a fresh one. Very weak coffee and very watery latte. £4 for a cup of hot water stirred with a coffee spoon.

Cold coffee, poor choice of sandwiches ( and when it did come it was lukewarm and very poor quality). Used to be great, what's gone wrong?

Nice staff, decent drinks, need to keep one member at front though rather than have them all working away on drinks allowing queue to build up.

Both female staff members coughing away. I appreciate its a difficult time of year but there should be more in place such as washing hands, sanitisation etc. Watched both members cough into their hands and continue working/ making people's drinks. Not good at all considering we have just come out of a pandemic.

Nice coffee shop. Great customer service, however there was only 1 person working during the lunchtime when it was a little busy. Apart from that, a nice place to get a coffee.

Rude staff. Long wait. Messy restaurant. Tables dirty. Even worse if you go in for breakfast. Never been after dinner so maybe the mood is better then. Cant recommend before 1pm tho.

I'm not a great coffee drinker so I'm not the best to judge. The coffee was tasty and the cakes I bought were lovely.

Pretty good for a chain coffee shop. The staff are always very polite and friendly, the coffee is also nice, and there is always a good atmosphere in the cafe. Although it can get quite busy at times, I find it is a good place to get some work done and have a coffee. It is also a great location hence it is easy to get a drink to takeaway and go for a stroll on the high street or the park.

Grabbing flat white to go. Better quality than Costa

Ordered through Uber Eats. Received the wrong order. Got a refund and placed my order again. The cheese toastie was stone cold and a sloppy mess and the Latte Grande was only filled half way. This used to be a great cafe but lately it's gone down hill massively. Won't be ordering from here again.

Bright and clean establishment. Only wish that the Jesmond Nero was as clean

We popped in for a late morning coffee. Both of us had iced coffees. The pistachio iced coffee has more to it than the iced cappuccino but they were both OK. The space and decor again is OK but like a lot Caffè Nero establishments, it's in need of some updating and a good deep clean. Staff are efficient. I don't know what the policy is on dogs being allowed in the café but someone did come in with a dog while we were there. Maybe not an issue for some, but I did notice that the staff petted the dog and then went on to handle crockery and utensils afterwards without washing their hands.

Efficient service by a lovely, friendly server.

Not the greatest Neros as the only natural light you'll get is if you're seated at the front. However, on the main points, which are coffee and service, they are faultless. Efficient staff that are patient and obliging. The coffee is very good and the pastries are excellent. I'm not keen on the cakes, but that's a personal thing. A good range of nibbles as well as other drinks, if coff isn't your thing.

Disappointed with the service..staff not really friendly.. drink disappointing would have taken back but we had already driven away. Usually love Nero but this on today was not great.

Great coffee but terrible customer service. Older lady with blonde hair was rude and abrupt.

Terrible customer service! Lady with interesting pink lipstick belittle me and my friend for a code not loading (because there is no wifi). She was vile! She ruined our day as her behaviour was unacceptable towards minors. Also her lipstick really doesn't suit her and put me off my coffee.

Cake was nice, but there was only one option for me. Need more dairy free options please!

Old but lovely. Spoke to manager who assured me there is a planned referb soon, and slowly they are getting new furniture. Would love to see an expansion- sometimes can get sooo busy there are few seats available, however this is not the staffs fault. Great atmosphere, dog friendly and fantastic staff. Would recommend.

A relaxing Friday morning with a nice Americano

Good service, clean and pleasant atmosphere. Just a point to make (and this applies to other Caffè Neros that I have visited eg in Beverley and Lincoln) - although toilets are clean, no one takes time to clean the pipes which are often caked in dust!

A really nice coffee shop with a wide variety of options. Perfect for a quick bite as well as a long lunch with friends. Service is quick, but there is a very limited amount of seating so it may be difficult to find a table at busy hours.

Good coffee but staff member was unhelpful and put out because I was using 02 prority for buy one get one free at Gosforth.

First visit for coffee and treats. Staff were very friendly and the quality of the coffee and ganache was top stuff. Would visit again!

Coffee tiny. Not a fan. Wont be going back. Only went as costa didn't have what we wanted. Worth a try though

It's handy for when I goto Gosforth for a coffee and a sandwich, staff are pleasant but since screens have been put up I find it hard to order and listen to them due to my hearing problems otherwise top of the tree.

I go there a lot and must say it is very nice. The only thing I would say is it seems a little bit older than the other Caffe Nero's I have been to.

On a busy high street this is a nice quiet place to sit and relax

Clean loo. Coffee usual high quality. Tables clean. I.e. this is benchmark stuff. Usual fayre. Lemon cheesecake awesome. Strange little cubby holes inside, v welcome. Usb socket up back right under seat.

It would be better if the staff weren’t so rude and unhelpful; having a water bowl for dogs shouldn’t be a chore and klutz isn’t a swear word.

Quick service and relaxing atmosphere.

The best coffee shop on Gosforth High Street, with a number of comfy chairs as well as an area suitable for laptop working, together with great coffee of course. Itʼs also the only major coffee shop chain where you can rely on getting a decent fruit scone and jam!! Staff always very friendly. Loyalty card more generous than that of Starbucks, though unlike Costa you only earn or spend points on drinks (otherwise a rating of 5 stores would have been awarded). However, the ambiance is more pleasant here than at the Costa down the road and itʼs generally less crowded.

Popular coffee shop in the middle of Gosforth High Street. Despite being busy, the service was quick and the cappuccino delicious. Always enjoy a Nero's coffee, and this is no exception to that.

Great cafe in the high street nice selection of coffee as you would expect! Shame there is no seats outside but then it's a busy high Street who would want to sit outside with the cars coming past! Nice friendly staff too.

Obviously, this is a Nero so you'll need to like their coffee and food. I do. On top of that, though, the staff are always really friendly and efficient. And dog friendly, if you have one.

Coffee shop was OK for a coffee shop. Never got food for vegetarians or vegans.

Great coffee, especially if you like it strong. Dog friendly too which really works for us. Only thing they could really improve is the stock management... They always sell out of the decent stuff (almond croissants) very early and have the other stuff left at the end of the day... Can't help but wonder why not just order more of the popular products?. Still, minor gripe... Would totally recommend!

Busy, friendly, great coffee and free wi-fi.

Friendly and usually very efficient. Nice coffee, dog friendly and with a selection of toys for the kids. Also they don't charge for milk for the kids. Always clean and tables clear. There is no outside seating which is a shame but just a limitation of the location. The app is also pretty good.

Great Coffee and cakes. Good service too, and lots of comfy seating. I like a quiet 45 mins before work there.

All what you'd expect from a cafe Nero plus a) Opens at 7 am. B) Parking available infront of the coffee shop. 30p per hour(max 2 hours) which makes it really good for meetings!
