Caffe Nero in Mid Sussex

The service is usually ok here. But today, one of the people that was supposed to be serving me and my friend stood nearby and carried on chatting with their friend whilst me and mine stood around waiting like idiots. When they did come back to serve they didn't apologise, and acted like we were a pain to them if anything. Seemed like they were having a good time though, so...

I've visited this café multiple times, hoping each experience was just an off day for the staff. Unfortunately, I’ve found that service here consistently falls short, to the point where even a quick stop at Greggs offers a far better experience. During my most recent visit, I waited 12 minutes without so much as a glance or acknowledgment from the staff. Frustrated, I left and got a coffee from Greggs, which was served promptly with a smile. As an experiment of sorts, I even returned to Nero’s and sat at a table in the café for 45 minutes with my Greggs coffee, unnoticed, and not once was I approached or asked to move on. What’s more concerning is the cleanliness—tables inside and out were left dirty for the entire time I was there. It reflects a lack of attention to the business and customers, which is unfortunate given that this is the last branded café in Burg. There’s a lot of potential here, but it needs to be managed with more care and engagement. Hopefully, this feedback can encourage improvements.

Hygiene is awful and work ethic is clearly an issue. Sooner there's a better coffee in town the better...the owners need to pull their fingers out.

Not impressed with the Branch at Burgess Hill. Met a friend for a coffee today. Tables are filthy. No staff collecting dirty cups/plates or cleaning tables. Many people sitting inside eating their own food from local Greggs. One family sitting at large inside table eating fish n chips bought from the local fish and chip shop!! Very disappointed and will have a coffee elsewhere in the town in future.

this cafe is absolutely filthy and has been for years. Don't think the floor has ever been cleaned and when the staff eventually clear the tables (too busy serving) I have NEVER seen them spray and clean them. This is the only cafe I have been in where the tables aren't disinfected. Other cafes not only clean the tables but the chairs as well before you sit on them. Coffee is good. Therefore 1 star given

This is nothing against the staff of Neros, just quite an important safety issue. I work for Heritage Testing Ltd, I get a bus every day from the Church road bus stop.. right outside Neros, I dont know who is responsible for the maintenance but there's something I want to bring to attention of people dinning outside in the seating area beside Neros. Look up, you'll see the badly flaking paint over the whole of the canopy right above your food. Until that paint is tested for lead and other heavy metals I would consider that a toxic area. Lead in paint is banned now, but up until 1992 it was not. It affects especially the young, their brain hasn't fully developed yet. People are becoming more aware of lead and they're taking precautions in their own homes, you should be safe going for a bite to eat alfresco if councils and the public were more informed.

Everywhere you look there’s dirt, nobody clearing tables or wiping tables. Thai place is a stomach upset waiting to happen!

OK. So, seen some whining b***ches posting unfair reviews. Projecting their misery onto this coffee shop. So, just for the record ignore these people. This is absolutely lovely, and cozy. Staff are very attentive. Working very hard for a lowish wage. Ungrateful imbeciles STFU.

The whole place looked a little tired. The tables were not cleared very quickly and were left in a dirty condition. None of the tables looked as if they had been given a good clean for quite a while. Very unhygienic.

Me and my friend decide to go grab a quick coffee. Unfortunately we had an awful experience due to a male member of staff being really rude not just us but other people, both customers and staff. He should not work there.

I was very disappointed with my visit and will NEVER be returning. A man behind the counter made me feel very uncomfortable to the point where I left without my drink.

Visited here with my sister and young niece. There was no hello from the staff or a smile they were just chatting loudly amongst themselves at the counter. It felt like an inconvenience to them to have customers at a time when the high Street is struggling! Staff were also not washing their hands after tieing up rubbish bags. Then touching food. Very poor, avoid!

Went in to get a coffee was not really busy 3 people in front of me but the staff were so slow which seem to be an ongoing problem in there, I had to leave after standing there for 10mins as I would have been late for an appointment this is not the 1st time sadly.

Love the location, great for popping in for a refreshment whilst shopping. Lovely coffee and selection of cakes Tec.

As with most of these coffee shops, the staff are efficient and the coffee is good. But my goodness the place needs an urgent refurb. Seating is really shabby and tables look worn. The place really needs a spruce-up as I don’t think it has been done since it opened over five years ago.

Once again I am left baffled at the complete lack of urgency on display by the staff at this coffee shop. A queue of people and the staff would rather chat amongst themselves and ignore us all. 0/5 for customer service 1/5 for the quality of the coffee 0/5 for the outrageous cost of a gingerbread man, cake and orange juices for my children If I was the owner of this franchise, I would be embarrassed with the uselessness of the staff.

The girls were continually talking to each other and taking little interest in the customers. Very unusual for Nero. Plus the coffee was cold

Best and largest seating selection in the town centre with the normal coffee & cakes selection. Service ok but actually getting a seat can be a bit of a problem!

As per the title good range of cakes & sandwiches etc. Love the hot chocolate but everyone we go the queue is always long as the staff seem to take a while to serve. Also the tables never seem cleaned too regularly.

I wanted the Christmas special they had ran out they said I would have to wait till next year to get the ginger bread hot chocolate.

We had coffee & chocolate cake Both were good The staff a pleasant & reasonably efficient even though it was busy The only down side to this place is that is was noisy

Two of us went to caffe Nero for lunch. We had coffee and a toasted sandwich. Both were good but the service was very slow.

had a tea and a cake here nice place very central spacious inside nice selection of drinks and food. shame about the staff here very slow service staff very distracted by each other chit chatting instead of service you also get your change thrown at the at the end of the transaction. very bad customer service won't be visiting again

Burgess Hill es mi local Caffe Nero. Siempre ha sido muy bueno. Todo el personal es muy amable, y algunos incluso recordar mi orden. El café es muy bueno, mi favorita de todas las cadenas de café. Aunque tengo que decir que es demasiado pequeña, como puede ser una lucha a veces para conseguir un buen asiento. Pero en general, genial! ️ ☕ ️ ☕ ️ ☕ ️

I really like this Nero's and I have visited lots of them as I love their coffee. The atmosphere and staff at the Burgess Hill branch are great and I always enjoy a relaxing break in this cafe. Long may it last!

Este es un lugar agradable para ralentí un rato lejos en un entorno confortable. No tiene sentido si tienes prisa.

A very nice strong cup of coffee, but sadly each time I have been there I have had to double up as a table clearer! This branch continues to allow non guide dogs in, which I find abhorrent. This is a place that serves food and is not a kennel. A family at the back clearly considered it acceptable to allow their animal onto the seat. To be fair to the Manager when I moaned he immediately asked them to take the dog down. There is however a better remedy: don't let them in in the first place!

Como han dicho otros, sabes qué nivel de café y servicio, te dan con Nero. Este café está bien establecido y te da una buena alternativa a otras casas cercanas de café con una amplia gama de cafés. Siempre gama habitual de un personal amable y Nero de snacks (bueno para ver un poco mas opciones libres de gluten). El único inconveniente es que está un poco pequeña en comparación con otras Nero cafés aunque tiene aire libre y como todo parece Nero cafés mesas de compensación a tomar mucho segunda prioridad. Internet Wi-Fi disponible. Muy práctico si esperando mucho tiempo para autobuses.

Visited two days in a row at 5.30 (cafe shuts at 6pm). Service was friendly and I did not feel under pressure to leave despite staying past closing time.

Como parte de la cadena Caffe Nero, que más o menos sabes lo que te vas a encontrar cuando pides. El café es de buena calidad y saben cómo hacer burbujas! La razón por la que no le di cinco estrellas es que el nivel de limpieza de los asientos realmente deja mucho que desear. De ninguna manera específica en esta sucursal pero los asientos son pero muy sucias con graneado en los derrames y suciedad. Venga en Caffe Nero, cambiar sus muebles de fácil limpieza telas. Aunque la deliciosa pain au raisons hacer aliviar la molestia algo.

Soy un usuario frecuente de este café en Burgess Hill y siempre me pareció acogedor, limpio y con un personal amable que hace que todos los clientes se sientan bienvenidos. Clientes habituales son reconocidos y en muchos casos sus pedidos regulares recordado y ahorrar tiempo en el proceso de preparación.
