Caffe Latte in Barnsley

Menu changed completely and it's not the best. Very disappointed, can see them loosing a lot of business as you now have to build a breakfast from a base of £5.75, if you wanted what was on a full English it would be over £12. Heard other similar views , hope they will listen to the customers!! Don't change what isn't broken.

Me and my girlfriend were looking forward to visiting as the reviews were overall positive and we happened to be passing, it seemed nice as we walked in and ordered breakfast as we hadn’t eaten yet. The food took an entire hour to come to us which for beans on toast with a sausage and egg on toast was absolutely appalling, we could see into the kitchen from where we were sat and could actually see out half plaited op breakfasts sitting on the side for around half an hour. One of the other main things that aggravated me was the fact a family of 4 and a few other guests that had arrived after us and ordered well after us had their food and were gone before we even had ours. The food was alright if not a bit cold having been sat on the side for half an hour but I digress. The worst part about the whole experience was after we had FINALLY eaten we asked to speak to a supervisor or manager about the ridiculous wait time hoping for at least a part refund for this appalling experience however asking for this got us a disinterested response followed by the manager is too busy to speak to anyone even though at this point the café was almost empty considering it was now late into the afternoon, cowards behaviour. To summarise it should’ve been a nice experience that was absolutely ruined by poor service and I would not go here again.

I never write bad reviews, but the customer service that we had was disgusting. We were left waiting an hour for our food (with no warning prior, and we ordered simple breakfast dishes!- an hour for beans and toast? Shocking!) We had to ask where our food was after 45 minutes, they gave an half hearted sorry and said it will be 5 minutes. It took an extra 10 minutes on top of that, and only had one meal served, and had to wait ANOTHER 5 minutes on top of that, for the other meal to be served. None of the staff cared at all, (which I don't think it's unreasonable to expect toast to take less than an hour to cook). I could see through the kitchen that my boyfriends bacon was plated up on the side for 30 minutes, which of course was cold. The food is overpriced and not special at all-definitely not worth the hour wait, or their ridiculous prices. I thought we'd go here because of the good reviews and it looks nice, but unfortunately I was very wrong. I wished to resolve this and asked to see the manager, and when they asked him the only response we got was 'he's too busy'. It is so wrong to treat customers this way, and they clearly don't care about anyone after they've took your money. At the time, it was the least busy-so clearly the manger lacks any decency and does not value his paying customers and staff, by sending his waiting staff to not deal with the situation. There is clearly organisational issues. Awful experience, WE WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL-save your money and time, and surround yourself in a friendly environment. We went to Greggs after for dessert, and the service was a million times friendlier. I could've got baked beans faster in the Sahara desert than in here.

This place does absolutely THE best oat-milk latte in Rotherham...! It's always busy, which is a sign of excellent food and drink. Plus, it has a full-size, wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Informed the staff that I had a allergy to onions and tomatoes and I can be hospitalised with it ,they wasn’t very busy waited a while when my sandwich finally arrived there was side salad and coleslaw but in the coleslaw there was red onion with red cabbage etc which I didn’t see the red onion I had a fork full and as soon as I put it in my mouth I realised I spat it out but it was too late my mouth tongue and lips started to tingle I went back into the shop and sassed for a glass of water with ice and I explain to her could she be quick as possible because there was onion in she said there is no onion in the lettuce I said no but there is onion in the coleslaw oh I’m sorry she said I said sorry isn’t good enough when get blisters in my mouth and my throat starts closing up and that I could end up in hospital not good at all they really need to check things I’ve had to go home instead of enjoying the rest of the day with my family had to up my tablets and sit in the bathroom pouring iced water into my mouth and rinsing my mouth out because it’s on fire for several hours and hopefully it will calm down but if not have to go to hospital all through the staff that thinks it’s not SERIOUS!!!!😡

This place has sadly gone downhill, been today for breakfast with my wife and daughter, firstly I asked if there was a wait on food and was told 25mins, had no problem with that but then nearly an hour later I had to ask how long our food was going to be, was told 5 mins, when the food came out all our eggs were solid, the black pudding was so hard i couldn’t cut it and the bacon was burnt to a crisp, I would have complained usually but because of the wait of the food didn’t have the time to hand around any longer

First visit to this local coffee shop with my daughter and 2 year old grandson. Passed it many times and now I've been, I will be going again! Food was super. Good ingredients and prices much lower than expected considering the high quality. Busy because it was lunchtime,but food soon appeared lovely and hot and freshly cooked. Great service. I'm impressed!

Been here a few times now, and overall staff are friendly and there are plenty of options for food and drink. Most occasions when we have come here the food and coffee (especially the coffee) are really, really nice. However every now and then (like most cafes) there has been times when the food and drink has been lower than the standards normally set by this cafe. I would recommend this cafe to others as it is a really nice place to come for a good breakfast and a coffee.

Came in to the cafe because I saw it on my way back from my meetings, everything looked really nice and the lady that served me was nice too. After I ordered I sat next to the door to do some work on my laptop. As soon as I got set up a man shouted across and said laptop area is over there. Didn’t question it so I just moved. Fast forward about 10 minutes, when he came over to give me my coffee I POLITELY asked him if I could move because the stools didn’t support my back and I have a back injury. He replied ‘no, this area is for the laptops and I can’t treat you any different to anyone else’. I didn’t even ask Carry on asking if I could move, I only asked ‘how come’. Anyways, I told him there was no need to be rude to me, I was only asking a question. Food came, tasted bad as I could feel his eyes at the corner of my head staring at me every time he walked passed. I left slot of my food so I could just leave.

Had a lovely family brunch here all the food was lovely and freshly cooked. We had a light breakfast ( which was really generous) . The Ham stack which was great and the hallomi treat which was great. My only gripe would be little vegan options.

Walked in 3 staff members all had their backs turned to us and then continued to walk into the back without even acknowledging us they could see us stood looking confused regarding seating menus etc. We had to make it look proper obvious to be served. They got our order wrong and fast service normally isn’t a problem but it’s slightly concerning when the coffees and food come together within 3 minutes of ordering. Clearly not freshly made food. I ordered eggs Benedict and I can honestly say I enjoyed it more from weatherspoons. Disappointing and over priced for the food and service we received.

Wasn't very impressed with my visit today! Purchased one of the cooler drinks which came after my food because the staff were too busy talking but then realised they didn't have the lemonade for it! So one of the staff went next door to the local spar shop and purchased cheap spar lemonade! £3.50 for a shot of watermelon flavouring with cheap lemonade. Very disappointing 😞

We’d been here twice before a few years ago and couldn’t remember why we hadn’t ever gone back, remembered today it’s because the staff don’t have an inch of hospitality in them and the wait times are absolutely ridiculous. We were told a wait time of 25 minutes for our food, it ended up coming out 50 minutes later and two couples who came in 30 minutes after us got their food first! The young girl taking orders is quite frankly just dopey and doesn’t listen to you, which is evident because the drinks orders came out wrong, she didn’t tell us a price and just shoved the card machine at me. The food was actually okay, but definitely not worth the hassle. I can see from other comments this just seems the standard practice for this place and nothing at all has changed in years so they obviously just don’t care.

First time been here for a while. Cold inside. Fancy computerised till for ordering so why 35minutes for food. Nice coffee. Sausage sandwich and poached egg on toast. Not really busy. Looking at previous comments waiting time is a issue.

Ordered breakfast and waited 30 minutes before noticing people who came in after me were getting their breakfasts. Asked where mine was and was eventually told there had been a mix up and another customer had already devoured my breakfast. Usually this is not a problem, I'm pretty easy going; however, I sat right in front of all the staff with a Fanta Orange and no one thought, I'll ask this bloke if he has ordered anything else. When the mistake was discovered, it would have been nice to have been offered a free tea or coffee as way of an apology. The breakfast was OK, sausage and bacon obviously re heated not cooked from fresh. Previous visit with my wife who is Vegan was met with a sorry we don't have a vegan menu. How hard is it to do beans on toast, with mushrooms or tomatoes or have something they could tussle up. After all Vegans no make up a substantial part of society. Used to be great when it first opened but not anymore.

I've rated this as good simply because since it reopened after Covid the choice of cakes has gone downhill, however the food and drinks are great quality, the seating outside is handy if you've been for a walk around the Lake and need a cuppa although service can be a little bit slow sometimes.

Looks very nice great looking breakfast Unfortunately told at least a 30 mins wait for something as simple as a bacon sandwich. Settle on a cup of Tea and a fruit scone which was good loose leaf tea in a t-pot proper English tea. This experience was then spoilt by the waiter/server vigorously spraying the adjacent table with cleaning fluid. Dontthey teach them anything about table service now days.

Lovely cafe with friendly staff. Had a chicken sandwich which was really tasty. The bread was delicious and the coleslaw was amazing! My mum had a salad which she really enjoyed. Really reasonable prices too.

Moved to Manvers recently and this is the only place to go. Great proper fresh coffee. Home made quality cooked food- not just franchise heated food like Costa etc. Esp their breakfasts. Lovely waiting staff who are super friendly. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Stopped half way on a motorcycle ride , We were never shown a menu so had to guess what food was available, the waitress took our orders separately , then asked us to pay but never told us the price Just basically shoved a contactless payment machine in our face , then our orders came out both wrong . Our order was a bacon and sausage sandwich on white with brown sauce , what we got was a bacon and sausage on brown bread no sauce , and my order was bacon and egg on white with red sauce , mine came with no sauce ! A black coffee and a coke Price £6.75 for one sandwich and a coffee ! Absolutely obscene .!

I occasionally go to Coffee St alone but I brought my sister and nieces for a day out after lockdown! Was very safe, and we had table service too. The kids loved their food, good portion sizes for them! Me and my sister ordered a tuna and halloumi wrap which was delicious! Nice mango and passion fruit smoothie for the hot day went down a treat! 100% recommended supporting this coffee shop if you’re local or wanting to come and visit. Definitely will not be disappointed!

Visited for a late breakfast and have to say we were massively disappointed. We ordered at the counter and the assistant did nothing but yawn. We were told the bill was 14.10 then she yawned and said sorry 17.10. She seemed reluctant to open a bottle if drink.There were no napkins left on counter and non came with the food. All in all very disappointing and we will be reluctant to visit again

As a treat my son treat me to a coffee at coffee street. What have I been missing with this little gem? Inside immaculate, very clean happy smiley staff. We decided to treat ourself to breakfast, fabulous choice some very different, my son had full English I went for haloumi on pesto bruschetta with salad. Very fresh, and different. The coffee is excellent it’s not immediate but. Brought with a smile to the table. Very reasonable prices. I shall certainly be giving it a go again. What a find.

Best coffee around in pleasant surroundings, good service but when it is busy you will have a longer wait for food, but no problems if you're just having a coffee.

This has become a favourite haunt of mine for breakfast. They have a decent selection for both breakfast and lunch, and the staff are always friendly. Food is cooked to order on premises instead of being pre-packed catered products from a franchise. The baked goods are the real draw, though, as they too are baked by the staff. The coffee tastes great here compared to chain locations. They also have free Wi-Fi and plenty of tables.

I am a regular customer at Coffee Street where there is always a warm welcome from the friendly staff. There is an extensive menu with something to please everyone's taste and a wide selection of teas and coffees. The cakes are amazing!

Passed this place a few times but having tried plenty of bad food in my time was reluctant. It was only when seeing the reviews that people where avoiding a Costa over the road for this place we decided to give it a shot. Not disappointed at all. £20 did me, my partner and son drinks and food so reasonably priced. Staff were very welcoming, welcoming you as you entered, then thanking you for your custom as you leave.

Not from the area and visiting the local hospital, we came across this little gem. The food was delicious, plenty of it, Gluten Free options, staff super friendly and great value. The coffee was spot on too! Clean restaurant and bathrooms, easy parking.

Myself and my partner come here on a regular basis, probably now over the past two years. I love this cafe as I’m not a coffee drinker and there’s loads more options for me to drink then just a hot chocolate. The breakfast prices are a little more then standard however it’s an independent business and everything is cooked fresh. We are used to waiting a little longer but the service doesn’t seem to be getting much better. It’s like there isn’t any rush to get anything done.

Just popped in for a quick coffee. Was a huge improvement on my last visit. Was early so not very busy, but people beginning to arrive when I left. The barista seemed to have a great rapport with the customers arriving. As it was early, the service was super quick. Was able to have a quick look at today's newspapers. Thank you.

I've been here quite a few times now as it's local to me and they always have great coffee and a friendly welcome. I've eaten a number of times and I always enjoy the food too. Great place and would rather come here than the chain across the road.

I come in here all the time to work on my laptop, and sometimes with my partner and / or our young baby. The owner is always friendly, they do nice coffee, a good selection of cakes and although we've only eaten a few times due to just living up the road, the full English breakfast is the best around and there are loads of other good options on the menu.

My partner had had a procedure at hospital where he had had to fast for the previous 24 hours. On the way home he began to feel very dizzy and lightheaded, so we called at Subway to get him a sandwich to eat in the car, as I had to get back to work, however we saw Coffee Street, and decided to call for a quick drink, so as to get something inside him. When we walked in, we were immediately told "you can't eat that in here" (pointing at Subway bag). My partner said he didn't intend to, he was going to eat it in the car. We ordered soya lattes, and asked if they had vegan cake as my partner is intolerant to dairy. We were told they did not. When we sat down for our drinks, my partner said he felt he was going to pass out, so I gave him a small chocolate biscuit I had in my bag. The guy who had served us came straight over and said "you can't eat your own food in here!" We explained he couldn't have the cakes they had, and that he needed to eat straight away, but we were made to feel like criminals! Although the coffee was good, we won't be going back there again! We could have got take outs from Costa over the road, but chose to support small local businesses instead, only to be made to feel terrible!

They used to be a very good place to have a bun and drink, the waiters and waitresses were extremely funny and friendly, however now that they've switched management, the menu is a lot less varied and the waiters and waitresses aren't the same, a lot more workaholic than kind and friendly.

I only live 10 minutes walk from Coffee St so decided to have a Sunday morning treat and walked over for breakfast.

Had the miss fortune of stopping here for a work colleague as he likes independents. For me the coffee was weak and poor and the quality of food was not much better either.

This place is a hidden gem really, I had no idea it existed until it was recommended to me by a friend. The service is fast and friendly. It offers a great selection of meals for all walks of life. It's a very cosy cafe with a unique and rustic interior. They also provide a variety of drinks including milkshakes which are very good.

Had read on their website about the friendly helpful staff it must have been their day off when we went. Young girls struggling to even smile and when my husband asked for knives and forks she just pointed towards the counter and said over there with a surly face. The tables are too packed in together and no room to move and stools very uncomfortable. Breakfast was lovely, best we've had in a while, tea very expensive at £2.40 each!! shame.

We have been a few times for breakfast, lunch, or just for a coffee and cake. Every time we a welcomed with a warm hello and The staff always fuss the baby and take time out to say a proper hello to us.

I visit here regularly when my work takes me to Wath upon Dearne. I have become acquainted with the staff and always receive a friendly warm welcome. The coffee and food are excellent and very good value. Don't do Costa, pop in to Coffee St and support a local independent business

Another great breakfast at our favourite independent coffee shop. 7 of us this morning all had something a little different and all enjoyed it. The guest coffee I tried was top draw. My usual lite breakfast was perfect and piping hot. Staff all fantastic we are always welcomed with a big smile. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting great food and great coffee.

The moment I opened the door I was impressed the decor is gorgeous... I ordered a hot chocolate, my nan had a Latte... which were absolutely gorgeous.. the guy behind the counter was really friendly and helpful, offered us a range of coffees..

My little family had a nice breakfast this morning and to be perfectly honest I can’t fault it lovely fresh quality ingredients cooked as we asked plus the coffee was first class . One little criticism was that the t pot my wife had was chipped and not that clean but still not worth deducting stars for.

We went yesterday for the 1st time. We like to support small independent businesses as we thought we would be treated better than a big chain. Mistake. Greeted by unfriendly staff. She looked like she really didn't want to be working on a Sunday. Told in no uncertain terms it would be a minimum of 30 minutes for 2 breakfasts. The breakfasts were ridiculously over priced. £7 for a small breakfast. It states its all locally sourced but at £7 I would want to meet the bloody farmer. After 10 minutes waiting our pots of tea arrived. Not bad.The pots were chipped though. Real tea leaves. It stewed really quickly though. After 25 mins the breakfasts did arrive. My wife asked for a sachet of sauce. The girls face dropped like she was being asked to make gold from scrap metal. On 1st impressions you get a nice plate full until you work out the pots of beans and tomatoes are very tiny. 9 beans in mine. And the tomatoes were all juice. When we asked if the front door could be closed we were told it had to be left open to get rid of the smoke. At £20 for 2 breakfasts and 2 teas it was so overpriced. Maybe I was expecting more for my money. I could have gone to morrisons and got it all for a tenner. Got it in half the time. And been treat better by there staff. At least there I can collect miles points.

Having only been here twice I must say how friendly and welcoming the staff are, even though its only the second day I've tried this place the staff already knew what I was going to order the coffee is way better quality than Costa that is just accross the way, I would recommend this coffee shop to anyone if its on your commute to work or breakfast and lunch with the family.

I often call here for a coffee but today pushed the boat out and had eggs benedict. Not disappointed, even though they were busy it came in good time....

This coffee shop is so welcoming and staff courteous and friendly, I go there for coffee and a read, when my husband is working in the area. Never rushed out and sometimes I am there quite a while. Always feel welcome and the owner greets all his customers as friends. I feel so happy when I go in here I never want to leave. I said to my husband if I lived in the area I would be there all the time. Had a bit of lunch last time I was in excellent. Nothing needs to change just superb. A stars to all who work here.

First time using the coffee shop and what a lovely place it is. Had breakfast with tea and they even did it gluten free toast for us. Will definitely be using it again
