Decided to call in for a cup of tea as it looked quite cute and appealing. How wrong we were! The woman serving was very unprofessional and not making people very welcome apart from the shady undesirable looking locals at the reserved table. She was openly talking about customers when they were sitting outside and talking about passers by. At one point stating I am in the wrong business as I’m not a people person. We did agree on that. She is rude and very disrespectful for a business owner never mind a lady !! Give it a miss and go to the very cute friendly places along bar street towards town

Visited this nice looking cafe for a spot of breakfast with my Partner as we thought it was nice looking. I will keep this short and sweet, the lady serving us from extremely rude and unprofessional and at one point told some customers to go outside as she brought there order out and then proceeded to gossip/slag them off to her “mates/friends/locals” in full view of other customers! Avoid this place at all costs as this lady should not be working in a customer service environment and the person who has employed her should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves!!!

This is a fantastic little find on St Nicholas Cliff. First visited 20+ Years ago still coming back. People all talkative. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced and the coffee is sublime. Well worth a visit. Good to visit whether the Weather is good or bad! You'll always feel welcome.

Called in for a little bit to eat, to be honest it’s small and not the most luxury of places… the other clientele in there was at best, down and outs. The coffee was burnt - yes you can bun coffee, and the food, well I should have not bothered! I’ve actually had better sandwiches from pals cabin on the lay-by on A57. What disappoints me most if the lady owner as when I mentioned I was staying at the grand hotel she went into a whirlwind of abuse about the hotel. When I asked if she had ever stayed she just said said no, well then lady in your fake Italian cafe don’t go shouting about it!

This is our favourite coffee shop in Scarborough. The atmosphere is so special. The owner is a lovely lady who makes the place unique. Food is fresh, made when you order and Italian in style. Prices are excellent and choice is great. This lovely place, although tiny and limited for space due to social distancing is worth waiting for.

Without doubt one of the nicest little cafes in Scarborough and one of my parents favourites. The premises are small with a few tables but it's a cosy, friendly and welcoming place to enjoy. The coffee is absolutely brilliant and the food was fantastic. Salad was very crispy and fresh, toasties were well made and enjoyed by us all. I can see why my parents visited on holiday so often! Located right beside the tram and the grand hotel it would be very easy to pass by but stopping to enjoy a time out here is a must!

My wife and I visited a few weeks ago and loved it and have been back many times since. The food, the drinks and most importantly the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The banter between customers and Jeanette is brilliant. It's the highlight of our week when we go on Saturdays for brunch. Thanks Jeannette. Anne and Yale

I have often minced by this place and recently thought i'd finally give it a go. From what I understand it has been a feature of the town for a while and seems to be frequented by a number of suspicious looking locals. My first criticism is the space. Sorry but there's barely 5 seats. Are you playing musical chairs? I ended up squashed in the corner which didn't do my cramp any good. Secondly the food. As someone who is rather familiar with Italy (I am often swanning around the amalfi coast and calling in at Via di S. Giovanni in Laterano in Rome) I can say that the standard was poor. Think what wetherspoons is to English food. Not too impressed and the madame running the joint looked at me like she'd seen a ghost when i asked if she did panettone. Also the toilets were as cramped as the rest of the cafe and i eould highly recommend installing an air freshner... Finally there's the issue of the other clients. A few odd balls in there. Clearly this place has a shady past due to its discreet location and proximity to the tram and the 'grand'. They are far too comfortable with the owner and keener on the 'tips'. One man reading a newspaper kept winking at me and commenting on how he would like to introduce me to some cured 'salami'. A very mysterious bunch. The lady running the joint was nice enough and a good frontman. Couldn't seem to get a straight answer from her about her links to Italy but she had strong view on Villa Certosa. Anyhow, lots of potential so please take my feedback on board if you want to stay competitive. Still a barain compared to Gianni's! Time for some transparency in this place. Averiderci

Popped in for a coffee and a tea before we left the resort for home. Olga was offered a Maple Tea and really enjoyed it. Coffee was fresh and tasty. Small business but frequented by local residents over many years which is always a good sign. We were pleased to get a table - very friendly atmosphere and we would visit again next time we are in town. Thanks - Jack & Olga.

Stopped here for two americanos and glad I did. Great atmosphere, no unnecessary radio on and easy to relax and have a natter. Coffee was great and cakes looked lovely. Sometimes you just can't create atmosphere you have it or you don't! M

We have walked past this cafe (Closed) loads of times - (mainly Sundays), but other times too. But at last it was open! Really authentic looking local Italian cafe - looks like its been there for years. (Run by an English lady after all that wait - no worse for it.) Quite small about 15 covers, and mostly taken by locals, so it must be quite good. First tried coffee, well above average, then popped back at lunch; Ham & cheese toastie for me, and a mixed ham salad for the wife. Very tasty and surprisingly cheap - worth a try if you can catch it open and possibly get a seat!!! (Lady goes home quite early, or when she has had enough!)

When in Scarborough we always make for this lovely coffee shop, although small inside it is a little piece of Italy on the doorstep. They serve delicious coffees and various sandwiches and cakes. The toilet is situated down some narrow steps and kept very clean and tidy.It seems to be frequented by locals which is always a good sign. Well worth a visit.

Can't fault anything here. Food & service was excellent. This was the 4th October in a row we have visited San Marco and it has never failed to deliver. So here's to 5 in a row.

We ordered 5 different dishes. The prices were slightly higher but the choice of food was really impressive. My beef ragu was lovely. Selection of wine was great too. The only down side is we waited around 30-35 minutes for food, and it was not busy (5pm).
