Absolutely loved eating here and the atmosphere is amazing

On the whole ok but slightly underwhelming.

I chose tomato pasta, not at all what I imagined, far better & delicious.

Great place with super views. Food is superb.

Gone right down hill. No-one in the place and service was slow. Both chefs on their mobiles while in the kitchen and no hand washing in between touching food. Service was poor. Felt like a nuisance and disturbing their relaxing evening. And pizzas had no toppings for at least inch and a half in from the edge. Not worth the money.

Food was cold. Driver was very rude and demanded a code, which was a first.

Tasty food, but slightly overpriced for what it is. Amongst the best pizza around. Dedicated and helpful service without too much fuss.

Very disappointed on this occasion. The food was bland, the staff uninterested except for one, and overall I was sad it had gone downhill. I booked well in advance, requesting a nice quiet table for two upstairs, for my wedding anniversary. On arrival I was taken downstairs on a table for four next to the cleaning station. By way of compensation the server gave us four glasses of pink looking disinfectant to drink, which looked sugary and sweet, and I was expected to be grateful. I didn’t want to stay, but we asked another server if we could go upstairs now as we saw other people leaving. She took us upstairs and it so quiet we could have sat anywhere. We ordered the Chianti Classico, two glasses of Prosecco and our food. The red wine arrived with what looked like dessert goblets/cheesecake glasses, and when I challenged this, I was informed that’s all they had. My bruschetta arrived shortly after, three pieces of very spongy ciabatta bread with just chopped pieces of salad tomatoes on top, a minuscule shaving of basil, and a sprinkle of hard cheese. It literally tasted of nothing. I didn’t eat very much at all. The main course arrived, Manzo picante, which was supposed to be meatballs in Raju which purported to be fiery. The best part of this was the black pepper I put on top to try and get some flavour out of it. The server upstairs, a very young male, saw my distress and refunded the bruschetta and was very kind and apologetic. He was very good, and he will go along way in hospitality but the chef needs to learn a lot about flavour and herbs, or even Italian food. I’m very sad to say I won’t be back again.

We hadn't booked but we were accommodated with no trouble. Plenty of the meals were either vegetarian or could be adapted. Excellent food and service.

First time here and certainly won't be the last,we were given a gift card to use here so that's why we were there,but it's a lovely and clean,lovely atmosphere and friendly staff,we ordered pizza's and they were really good,as said before will definitely be back.

It's alright, but 2 adults, 2 kids (12&10), we had 4 pizzas, 2 glasses of wine, and 2 soft drinks, and it was over £100. It was nice but way too expensive for what we had won't be coming again at those prices

I arrived at 8:50 pm on a Sunday... restaurant was maybe a quarter full... nobody seemed to know what was going on, left standing at the host stand for ages, staff just walking by saying another person would get me... finally told they had no room. Weird... I never post negative posts... but very poor. Before I left, asked if I could use their bathroom... it made wetherspoons toilets look luxurious. Shame, normally like this chain.

A nice place for a romantic meal with a loved one, or just an afternoon snack/meal with a glass of wine... and watch the world go by ❤️

Great food,great service,wouldn't pay full price though as I do think its a little overpriced for what the food is. Very tasty and portion size is ok. Nice place for a treat or special occasion.

The portions were terrible! Very small portion called Verdure yet labelled as a main meal! The meal was awful value for money. It took less than 5 minutes to eat it. We were still so hungry. All the waiter could say was " yes, small aren't they"! We won't be using Ask Italian again.

Loved the location and the mood inside this ASK. It's right on the main street close to the beach and has lovely views out across the harbour. The decor inside is peaceful and relaxing and the service was brilliant, speedy and friendly. The food was a little on the pricey side for the size of the portions, but it tasted great and the desserts in particular were absolutely delicious. Brought two vegan friends with me both of whom had plenty of choice and loved their meals too.

Always delicious and freshly homemade. Chicken is so tender and juicy, and we loved the new (to us) thinner courgette as this made them more like fries.

Very tasty dishes. Simple and made of excellent quality ingredients, simply the best of Italian cuisine. Location right next to the port by the sea. If you want to take a break from English classics while in Scarborough, I really recommend it

Over priced food, bad service, wasn't offered any condiments that other people were offered, we were in casual clothing as we were passing through Scarborough from a visit to whitby.would not recommend

Staff were really attentive, polite and always smiling. The food was amazing, especially the Chocolate Etna. Definitely going to be our go to Italian.

Fairly local to Scarborough, first time there. Not really for me, over priced for what it is, food was over cooked and bland, establishment was nice, staff friendly. Probably wouldn't go again or recommend.

On a busy Saturday evening, we did need to book as there was no availability until 8pm. However, it was definitely worth the wait. We arrived 15 minutes early to be shown straight to our table, which had a lovely view of the harbour. We were greeted with a complimentary shot of pink lemonade by a friendly waitress and service was speedy and efficient throughout the meal. We had an online code for free cheesy chips, which we shared as a starter. They were lovely and cooked to perfection. We opted for the beef brisket papardelle and the ndjua and goat's cheese pizza for our main courses, which were both amazing, followed by pistachio and raspberry tart with black cherry clotted cream gelato, also delicious. Absolutely couldn't fault this place. A lovely evening!

Excellent meal by the harbour in Scarborough. We'd tried booking online and by phone to be advised that it was fully booked. So we decided to see whether they had any walk ins as we were passing by around 17:30. We were offered a 20:00 slot, which was fine, although we came back a little earlier and a table with a harbour view was ready for us upstairs. We shared some cheesy chips as a starter instead of a side, beef paparadelle and Fiery Calabria di Capra for mains with Raspberry and Pistachio tart with cherry ice cream for dessert. We had a very reasonably priced bottle of Nero d'Avola to drink. Food was served quickly and was delicious and of excellent quality to the point where it felt like being in a small independent restaurant, rather than a chain. The staff were friendly, efficient and very welcoming, making our evening perfect. Hope to see you again soon.

Gave 4 stars for food just on this occasion, as the butterfly prawns starter weren't as good as usual, otherwise would if been a 5star. The cornish elderflower and raspberry cider is gorgeous.

Food and staff excellent but very disappointed by following. 1) did not accept payment via Tesco clubcard points, despite being reward partner 2) did not accept Tastecard despite being on their list. 3) advertised free dough balls as you entered, but they were not served and when asked were told it was only for ask reward customers

Our first time at Ask Italian, Scarborough, and it was excellent in every way! The food was delicious, and the service couldn't be faulted. A lovely all-round experience. We would definitely recommend.

Possibly the worst pizza I have ever had and simultaneously one of the most expensive. Arrived very late, was all squashed to one end of the box.

The service was great the staff are very attentive and polite always polite and smiling. The only thing that I can honestly say is the price that you pay for the food you get isn't great. You don't get alot of pizza topping, the portion and the way the pizza baked.. personally didn't understand how it was £16.50 for one pizza to share.. the chips alone 4.00 you also don't get a great deal of them. I do like the chunkness and they was well seasoned. The kids pizza was okay but not much to look at especially when there wasn't a great deal of cheese for a plain cheese pizza.. mostly sause and dough. I also noticed the expensive drinks menu aswell which was slightly off putting aswell. I wouldn't want to come back as it's personally over priced for what you actually get. The staff however honestly are really lovely I just don't think the prices are great. We wasn't on a budget or anything just was surprised how expensive it was for the pizza alone and for some of the drinks also.

Not seated where we asked at time of reservation. Order was mixed up waiter was not sure which pizza was which, to be fair he did ask the manager. One pizza was cold due to this mix up. Mixed up coffees and mocha and had to be changed due to sweetening drinks. A glass of wine was forgotten. The bill was adjusted to reflect the mix up and we will go back. We have always enjoyed eating at Ask.

Perfect location harbour site Food was fantastic and tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Price was as expected given the location. Downside; no discounts for blue light card or company vouchers...apparently the only ASK not to di so. Food always tastes batter with a discount

We liked the look of this restaurant, the position is great and the views over the harbour from the first floor are nice. That was where the positives ended. Initial service was slow, food wasn't good, my supposedly baked pasta dish was not baked in any meaningful way, sauce was gloopy and there was hardly any chicken. The side salad was limp and boring. We were hoping to find an alternative to fish and chips by the harbour....but this was disappointing overall.

Driver was great very polite and delivered the food tried to help with the missing order that said it had been delivered but wasn’t.

Not really sure how they can pretend these places are Italian restaurants. Unfortunately it was the only place we could find a seat. Over priced and definitely not Italian

Slightly expensive but very delicious Italian food in the centre of Scarborough. ASK Italian has indoor, outdoor and upstairs seating. We chose to sit outside as it was a sunny day and the parasols protected us from getting sunburned as we ate. The menu has a good selection of Italian food, including pizza and pasta in a variety of kinds. I had the Pollo Della Casa, which was a chicken and mushroom pasta and the people I was dining with chose the lasagne and the calzone. All of us were impressed by the taste and quality of the food. The service was also wonderful, with the servers being attentive and happy to help. Please note: this branch of ASK Italian do not take Blue Light cards. I only mark them down on atmosphere as the outside area is right beside a main road, meaning a lot of cars going back and forth as well as people walking by. It might get better later in the day, we ate at 14.00, but it’s not very romantic when children cry, dogs bark and cars honk whilst you’re trying to eat.

Great evening in Ask. Only downside for me is that we were seated right in the middle of the restaurant so could not benefit from the views. Food was great and decent prices and potions sizes. Would recommend and will visit again.

Food was very quick and was good. Especially the tiramisu. From past experience I have learned to book the day before otherwise will be turned away. Nice atmosphere and some awesome views when you are sat upstairs.

Once you’ve exhausted your capacity for fish and chips, you’ll find Scarborough has precious few decent dining options. One option is to visit ASK right on the harbour - so we did! It’s quite a large restaurant with two floors, many tables with great views and outside seating too. We arrived without reservation at lunchtime. It took a while before we were seated but we took a table for two inside as it was very busy outside. The menu is exactly as you’d expect in any ASK. It’s well priced, decent pizza/pasta and a few other dishes. Our meal was well presented, tasty and a good price. Servers were pleasant and efficient. The only thing we found odd was that we could hear the maitre d’ turning customers away - when there were obviously vacant tables that didn’t appear to be reserved. One couple just wanted drinks - also turned away. Nothing to do with us, of course, but seemed awkward. I’d still recommend this place though . Great location and at least it’s not fish and chips. Maybe worth booking if busy though.

ordered from here a couple weeks ago and unfortunately took over an hour and half to arrive due to deliveroo and their drivers etc. But when the food did arrive it was still hot and very tasty, we love ask italian when in scarborough

Really disappointed after our visit here. The food was lukewarm, average and very overpriced. Our server, I think she was called Nina, was also very rude and abrupt. We come here wherever we visit Scarborough on holiday, but after this visit we won’t be back. We found a local pub a couple of miles away with amazing homemade food- this will be our go-to next time.

Hubby & I booked to eat here before a concert. The resteraunt was buzzing, the atmosphere was great. All the staff that served us were great and knowledgeable on each dish. The food was fantastic and great value for money.

Lovely sunny day we spotted this restaurant with outdoor seating, picked a table with a brolly and warm breeze. Served a welcome drink which was delicious. Great menu, great food , great attentive service with a smile, nothing too much trouble. Will definitely re visit and would recommend. we did not want a full meal so chose Olives, Bruschetta, lasagne bites, side salad and chips. all were hot and delicious. washed down with a couple of pints.

1 & 3/4 hour late!!! Pizza barely cooked and very little topping, chips no better will not be using ever again. Poor doesn’t cover it.

The food is bland (particularly for Italian) and expensive, I shouldn't have to add chilli oil simply to get flavour. Service is fine but just standard chain level, nothing exceptional and the view is nice.

Pasta was cold and stuck together and had a horrible flavour had 1 bite and left the rest not worth the extortionate prices they charge!

Very friendly, good atmosphere, very clean. Food was ok, slightly bland for Italian dishes we have eaten before, elsewhere. Including Italy, maybe they cater more for the English palette. Could not taste any rosemary in the potato dish.

Wandered in on the off chance as our first choice (Marisco Lounge across the road) failed to serve us either at the bar or on the QR app. We were very glad we tried Ask Italian instead; we were seated quickly and given complementary "shots" of raspberry lemonade to enjoy until our delightful waitress arrived, a nice touch. I chose the sea bass and himself had a caesar salad, both absolutely delicious and we enjoyed every morsel. Followed this with raspberry and pistachio tart with a scoop of cherry sorbet for me and a salted caramel creation which included tiny meringues and curls of white chocolate for him. Outstanding, we considered licking our plates but there were people looking. Lovely place in every respect, highly recommend

The waitress was welcoming and helpful. We found the food a little ordinary considering the relatively high prices. One of our party had the seafood pasta, and the giant prawn on top had not been cleaned with the nasty black stuff still in the back. The manageress told us that it was roe, which of course it wasn't, after an unexpected pleasant discussion it was taken off the bill. I'm afraid that it rather spoiled our evening, I doubt if any of us will be using ASK again

We booked for 17:30 so we would be home in time for the football at 20:00 We ordered our drinks and mains the service was prompt to start with. Once the mains arrived that was it, no checking if everything was okay, I wanted another drink mid way through the meal but couldn't get one after trying to wave at the waiters a couple of times I gave up. By about 18:10 we'd finished our mains, and it got to about 18:40 when I went up and got someone to clear our table and I asked for dessert menus, slightly frustrating when the table behind got their meals after us and their table had been cleared, paid the bill and they'd left, while we still had our empty dishes and no dessert menus. We constantly kept seeing others being served and us being ignored, not sure if it's to do with us being young that we get worse service ( mid twenties). However we've been coming here for years with our family as we're local and spent good money here. So the dessert menus arrived, and I waved down a waitress again to order, 15 minutes after menus arrived. Wouldn't serve my partner a cocktail despite us ordering alcohol with another waitress no problem before, As she didn't have her ID, which we didn't think was necessary as were 7 years above the legal drinking age, and this same waitress has served us before no problem, but anyway it wasn't a problem I had my ID. So by half last 7 the desserts, apologised for the delay. l asked for the bill at the same time the desserts come as expected we'd have to wait along time for that too. So just before 8pm we finally left, for what we wanted to be a fairly quick 2 course meal, with huge gaps between clearing our table and getting other menus. Table next to us came in about an hour after us table of 2 at 18:30, had two course and left at the exact same time as us. Annoying part was for the first hour and a half it wasn't busy and there was plenty of staff, At one point 3 waitress were round one table wiping it and having a laugh and joke while we're still sat there with empty plates and waiting for a dessert menu, they couldn't care less about the customers, or maybe it's just because we're young they don't think we matter but in fact we're more likely to leave a review, drink and eat more, but everyone but everyone around us that we're older for served, we noticed this the last couple of times we came in but have just left it as we enjoy the food so much. No complaints to the chefs the food was fantastic as always. But please sort your front of house out, bring back Sylvia and the others they were great. Heads up to other diners they no longer accept taste card. Extremely enjoyed the food but extremely let down by the service, complete disregard for their customers No longer take tastecard Served by Josephene, who never came back to the table after our initial order.

Vegan pizza was poor tasting and the frutti di mare disappointing. Great staff though.

The staff are very polite and attentive, and the meals are quite filling. The vegan menu is extensive. I definitely recommend it.
