Tricolos in Scarborough

Absolutely vile. Starters came out all at wrong times, 15 minutes apart from the first to the last starter (there was only 5 adults) . 3 out of 7 of our meals had pepperoni slices on the pizzas and we all said that the pepperoni tasted rancid, like gone off manky smell. out of 5 adults not one of us finished our food, the other two meals were bambino pizzas and even though they ate the majority of them I tried a bit and it wasn’t very good, just like cheddar cheese thrown on some dough. It wasn’t particularly expensive but you’d hope that an Italian restaurant could get the basics right, pizza and pasta at an Italian restaurant should be safe choices. Not a good experience and won’t be going back. Let the staff know that as well. After the starters came out all at different times we asked the staff to please make sure that the mains came out all together to which they said of course, straight after the so called chef came out to apologise, but then proceeded to tell us that it wasn’t her fault and basically tried to tell us that it didn’t matter and that it is what it is, I cannot stress enough for people not to go there, I’m really not that fussy, but tonight’s experience was shocking

I have been visiting since 2002. It was always one of my favourite restaurants, even as recently as a couple of years ago. Not anymore. We went on Sunday 27th October, and it was terrible. I nearly choked on something hard in my soup, which felt like a sliver of plastic. My friend nearly choked on membranes in his squid starter, my pasta was bland and my friend's seafood tasted a bit funny. There was a run down atmosphere, and one of the chefs was verbally abusing a waitress in the middle of the restaurant. It was awful. So depressing to see a lovely place go downhill. It must have changed hands in the last year or so.

A pleasant welcome. Staff were not pushy, but very helpful. Great food. I had to wait for one of the mains and a side dish. However, the food was so good, we didn't care, it was worth it. Definitely worth a visit.

Bar staff and servers very lovely and extremely friendly, however during our starter we were rudely interrupted by another lady asking my wife why she hadn't eaten all her starter. When asking for a short delay between courses so we could let food settle the server said they would let the kitchen know but the food was already being brought out giving us the impression they wanted you in and out as quickly as possible during their limited service time, resulting in a very uncomfortable experience.

Had a really good meal here everything was top notch.

Found this by chance. No pressure to order a set number of dishes, my gluten free options available easily, lovely service, great food.

I don't quite understand why the reviews are consistently good for this restaurant. The decor was fun and reminded me of a Bella Italia circa 2001. The food came out quick but it wasnt home cooked. The calamari was clearly frozen (supermarket style) and chewy. The salad was undressed and I had to ask for dressing and was given vingar. Cheap catering packets of sauces provided with food. The spicy pasta wasn't spicy (again I assume a mass catering sauce). My Diane sauce was clearly not homemade either. The bill wasn't itemised and we had to go to the bar to pay after waiting 15 minutes after getting our bill. My friend said it was like what her work canteen serves for £2. Deffo give this place a miss. I imagine someone's Italian grandmother is turning in her grave.

This place was crowded at 6pm on Wednesday evening. It was bustling. The food was tasty. Standard Italian dishes done well. The staff were clearly overrun, but tried to keep smiling. Commendable as they did a sterling job of trying to keep on top of the rush.

We have been here a few times the food is nice and the team always find you a table if you haven’t booked. But they are let down by some of the waiting staff who openly ignore customers. We appreciate that it is busy but we were ignored for 35 minutes and only took our food order when pressed to do so. We like it and the food and the blonde female bar tender are great but let down by some of the waiting staff.

First visit having been coming to Scarborough for around 40 years. We saw the early bird offer which was quite misleading so watch out for this as most pizzas and pastas are excluded from the offer. The food was authentic and fresh, the cream sauce on the pasta could have been thicker. The service was outstanding Would have preferred proper condiments rather than sauce sachets like a takeaway. Also they had Italian radio on the back ground I would have preferred music. Wonderful setting and atmosphere and toilets were very clean. Would recommend and would be back if they could make small changes.

Came here last year, ordered the calamari & chips and it was unbelievably bad. You know the calamari rings you get at Morrison's for £2.50 a pack? This was nowhere near that level. Iceland-quality food, their burgers are even worse! The owner even admitted their burgers are frozen and mass-produced. Truly a scam restaurant.

4 very happy full people. All had different meals and all very happy. All meals were perfect size, lovely and tasty and hot. Even my fussy eater 3 year old daughter ate so much! The price of the meals aren’t very expensive. The staff were very helpful and polite. The restaurant itself self is cute and full of character. Will definitely go back! Xx

Great service and food amazing wife had pasta which she loved and I had pizza don't think you can better it in Italy. I have been. Would go again when in Scarborough

Excellent food (pizza and lasagna) nice starter (olive marinade) served timely. Although all of the staff were young, their attention was really good. Great overall, would repeat.

I was here with a group of friends. We had booked a table. I arrived before the group, and went to order a drink at the bar. I said that there was a table booked and the name of the person who had booked, and was rather curtly (I thought) asked ‘how many for?’, which I did not know, whereupon the staff member rushed off. It was very busy, a bit chaotic. The group arrived and after a short wait our table was ready. Two people had almost identical orders, apart from one ingredient. The staff member gave the wrong one to a member of the party, who started to eat. A few minutes later the staff member came back, having realised the mistake, and simply exchanged the dishes. We were so taken aback we did not say anything. People who wanted drinks had to go to the bar for them. After the main courses, no one came to offer coffee or dessert. So it was not really the relaxing evening I had expected.

We visited at about 8pm and it was pretty empty. We ordered food and starters came in 5 minutes and food 20 minutes later. The servers was nice but you could tell they were rushing.

I would highly recommend this Italian restaurant the food was amazing and the staff were very friendly especially Marcella who organised a taxi for us. I will definitely be going back.

Been to tricilos in the past. However my last visit appalling service and food lucky to score 1 star. Staff inattentive and not bothered, food poor quality and restaurant dirty. Even basics of cutlery had to be asked for. Not once was I asked if all ok, even when more was left than eaten. Certainly not going there again, sad really as used to be nice

Came across this place by accident So glad we did . Food is amazing , staff very friendly . Well worth a visit !

The pizza was OK. The place looks calmer than many. The staff seem inattentive. We were never asked if we wanted a second drink, we're not asked if we wanted black pepper and when it came it was a plastic supermarket-type grinder. I'm not saying they weren't attentive. They were all very courteous and quick, but never offered anything over and above showing us to the table and taking the order. I don't think I'd return. It is all a bit basic and designed around high turnover and straightforward food. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want!

Best Italian restaurant in Scarborough, really nice atmosphere and Italian decor. Staff are really friendly, the food is amazing and fresh ingredients! Pizzas are huge and mouth watering!

Waitress was really friendly and welcoming. Restaurant was absolutely freezing people were actually eating with their coats on i asked a waitress if they could please close one of the front doors as both were wide open and she did almost straight away. Food Was lovely and the wine was very reasonable and extremely enjoyable.

Visited this lovely Italian restaurant with my husband and sister on Sunday evening for a meal. My husband had a pizza and we had the cannelloni carne pasta. The meal was reasonably priced and very authentic. My husband said the pizza was the best he's had for some time. The staff were efficient and friendly. We would definitely visit again when in Scarborough.

A long overdue return visit. Sharing a very tasty chilli and blue cheese garlic bread then enjoying some lovely pasta. A little quiet at the time we visited, but started to fill up later on. Very enjoyable.

Great food (had a lovely vegetarian pasta along with the tomato and garlic bread, great service (i.e quick but not intrusive), nice ambience. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommended

Yummiest pasta ever and scrumptious pizza. Felt bad because we asked to move and then felt it was loud by babies so asked to move again but was hosted very quickly and friendly. Thank you so much what a lovely, well priced meal.

First time going I'd say was good

Fabulous restaurant authentic Italian recipes and wines. We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and which is genuine, the food was wonderful and full of flavour and tasted excellent together with a superb Italian pinot grigo wine and a tiramasu to die for makes this Italian Restaurant a must visit.

Nice little Italian restaurant, not too far from the beach front and just a little out of the centre. Fast service with friendly staff, couldn't fault the food. We had a large group, all the food arrived at the same time and was piping hot. They have a small selection on the kids menu, the only fault I have is the soft drinks, they seemed flat, almost as they'd been poured from a bottle and not on draft.

Tricolos is an Italian restaurant located a short walk from the centre of Scarbrough and down one of the side streets. We found it accidentally earlier on in the day but decided to go back for some food for dinner because it looked nice and the menu was reasonably priced. Walking in is like stepping away from Scarbrough and into an Italian taverna. The decor, the theming and the decoration all help to whisk you away to the back streets of an Italian city and for the duration of your stay, it feels like you are in a warm, cosy bubble. When we went, it was quite quiet so we were welcomed as we entered and shown to a table. As you walk in the bar is off to your left with seating opposite it and then further seating extending backwards and to the right. The toilets are located upstairs. We sat and looked at the menu and I decided to go for a pasta dish with beef and mushrooms and my partner went for the steak. We also opted for a starter and I cannot remember what it was called but it was delicious. He opted for what was effectively mince in a tomato ragu with layered pasta (Pepperoni Ripieni) and I went to something similar to mousaka with aubergine and tomato sauce (Melanzana Parmigiana. Both of them were served piping hot and were delicious. The portion size was more than adequate - to the point I thought I may not eat my main but I managed. After our starters, we had about a half an hour wait for our main which again, was served piping hot. My beef in a mushroom-style ragu came with side salad and was delicious. My partner's stake came with chips and salad and he stated as he ate it that it was hands down one of the best steaks he had ever had. The bill was between £50 - £60 which, was two starters, two glasses of wine and two bottles of beer, I thought was really good value. Would I recommend a visit? Absolutely!!! If you want reasonably priced food that is freshly prepared and delicious in an environment that can transport you elsewhere then this is definitely the place to go. The hot food, warm atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food make this place worth seeking out for any occasion either as a regular haunt or as an opportunity to celebrate something special. I absolutely love this place and so glad we stopped by.

Had an early booking. Was quiet when we arrived soon got busy. Menu is extensive. Food was piping hot. We all enjoyed our meals. We were a party of 10. Staff were very good. The only downsides were we were sat near the door so was quite chilly but I guess someone has to sit there! The way the bill is set out isn't good at all, just lots of prices, no writing to detail what you have had so impossible to check if its correct!!

Some of the worst Italian food we have ever tasted. Pasta was overcooked, slimy, it was totally tasteless. Both meals were genuinely awful. Never got out of somewhere as quickly

We have always been to Tricolos each time we go to Scarborough. Been coming for years now. It has changed hands since our last visit.. but the food and service were still excellent and a good price. My husband had the Calzone and I had seafood pasta. Both delicious. As was my cheesecake dessert. Lovely service. Very polite and friendly. Only downside for us was they no longer do house wine in a carafe, though the house wine in a bottle was reasonably priced. Also it was cold in the restaraunt, my husband was blasted with cold air the whole time. Not great on a chilly November evening. But we will be returning!

We managed to get a table last minute despite it being a Saturday night, we were a little apprehensive after reading some of the recent reviews but I’m really glad we booked. The food was tasty and plentiful, my daughter in law even said it was the best lasagna she had ever had. My only complaint would be how thin the garlic bread was, I like it thin crust but it was virtually see through. We last visited when my kids were little and will definitely go again if in Scarborough.

The Best the Italian food in town! Love the food and love the people here even more. The bartender Marcella makes the best espresso Martini in town. She is so good to pick the best drink and delicious food for world traveller like me! i am sure that i will miss this place and wjll come back again! Thank you Marcella! perfect 10 restaurant here!

Visited last year , and we had one good meal out of two, my calzone was stone cold inside but it was remade , so we thought we would give it another try. Unfortunately on a Saturday evening after we had braved the rain , we were told CLOSED.......this was 20.55 and advertised closing on here as 21.30. Won't be back .

Service would have been 5 stars, all but for one waitress being fairly rude. Nice nose piercing.... see if you can spot her. Us: "is this pizza the Romano?" Her: "I don't know because I'm not Italian". Other than that, a superb night out

Food was good but service was a little slow due to the large number of diners and the inexperience of the staff but I would recommend Tricolos for an Italian meal.

My wife and I ate here before attending The Spar for a concert the restaurant was quiet due to it being a Sunday evening We were seated and drinks order take Waitress took our food order mussels pate Calzone pizza and lasagna food was well cooked and nice size portions service was attentive but not in your face we both enjoyed our meal and will return

There were 7 in the group we didn't pre book. The table we were on was cramped even though not really busy at the time. Food didn't come out all at once. Those that got there food first had basically finished when the last were served.

Last minute restaurant choice and luckily they could accommodate. Lasagne was tasty, risotto amazing and plentiful. Had a garlic bread too which was cooked perfectly. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Restaurant itself is beautiful with lovely decor.

We found this place just vu chance when we were walking back to our holiday accommodation from the beach and amusements, immediately when we walked in (2 adults 2 children around 6pm on a Thursday night during August ) we hadn't booked we just walked in and were sat down straight away and the wait staff were kind and friendly and told us where to find the toilet etc and came back within minutes to take our food order and bought drinks. Food came fresh and was delicious. We were so impressed with the great atmosphere and it was clean and tidy. Constant stream of people in and out and all was maintained and managed great. It took a few asks to different people to get our bill but that not an issue 😂 really enjoyed our visit and would love to come back should we visit Scarborough again. Food and drinks were a little on the expensive side than cheap but it was so worth it for the taste and huge selection for two meat eaters and two vegetarians in our group. Also great selection of desserts which were yummy. .. also made accomodation for my daughter who only wanted plain spaghetti and grated cheese 😂 and answered all questions about menu with ease. Very kind and friendly.

Do not book online. We did, and the manager (I think) told us that it doesn't work and that system belonged to the previous owners and needed a password, so they have no control over it. Not their fault. We were prepared for disappointment as it was a very busy Saturday night, but the lovely lady managed to squeeze us in. The food was lovely, the staff were great, would definitely go again.

We booked a table online BUT it turns out their online booking system belongs to an establishment that lived in the building years ago, so our booking didn't actually exist. However, upon arriving, the lady (who I assume was the manager) pulled out all of the stops to ensure we were able to dine here. I am so glad she did this because we had a wonderful experience and did not feel rushed despite us technically just rocking up out of the blue. I had the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce and the PC sauce was one of the best I've ever tasted. Their menu was very extensive for a small business but everything we sampled was delicious. The service was really fast especially for a bank holiday Saturday evening. All staff we interacted with were polite and the place has a pleasant authentic feeling atmosphere. Would absolutely go again

Nice food and nice place to eat

Went to tricolos last Saturday and loved it! Atmosphere was great and food was amazing! I had carbonara with out cream and chef was happy to help me with my request and was best carbonara I’ve had! 10/10 also all the staff were very friendly and always happy to help!

Very good and tasty food. Pizza dough tasted great and the pizza and pasta were very delicious. And a very tasty red velvet cheesecake, and a very tasty new York cheesecake.

Great on pizzas and garlic breads. Other starters not so great. Worst Calamari I have ever had...skinny like a rubber band and just as chewy. I should have said something, but sometimes you just don't want to spoil the jolly vibe.

This is not our normal Italian restaurant, but we came here and had a marvelous meal. I can't find anything to fault. The food was great, the service was great. And it was just the right amount of busy ( not too loud or too quiet). All in all a fantastic Italian restaurant

As a solo diner, I received excellent service and was treated with courtesy. I am so happy that this restaurant is back in business.

We had a football event and we all had pizza but we didn’t even get a pizza cutter to cut the pizzas. Or any sauces for the pizzas

Family of 5 called in on the off chance of getting a table while on holiday, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great service. Garlic pizzas to start were delicious and massive the pizzas and pasta dishes went down well with everyone as well, would return if stopping in the area.

What a hidden gem!! My partner and myself visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening. From the front it doesn’t look much but when you walk in you are suddenly in Italy! The decor is beautiful, the little balcony’s and the twinkling lights. The atmosphere was lovely, no loud music just people talking and having a good time. We were shown to a little table in a corner and given the menus. There is a lot to choose from, there is definitely something for everyone. A young lady took our drinks order and then another waitress took our food order. The service was very good for saying how busy they were. We only waited about 20 minutes for our food to arrive. It was well presented, tasty, hot and plentiful. We will definitely be coming back to this unassuming little restaurant.

We've visited this restaurant 3 years running because the food is always excellent. Unfortunately the service never gets any better even though the staff changes from year to year, think the staff are all trained to look straight ahead. It's impossible to get their attention when you want to order so you tend to be in there a long time. My husband had to stand up to get desert ordered as it wasn't possible to get the staffs attention any other way even though they're constantly walking past the tables staring straight ahead. Such a shame as it's a lovely restaurant and such nice food.

SOME YEARS SINCE WE VISITED THIS RESTAURANT, WHICH, IN ITS DAY, . WAS EXCELLENT. UNFORTUNATELY OUR LATEST VISIT WILL BE THE LAST FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE. THE PRICES DID NOT REFLECT THE QUALITY OFTHE FOOD, WHICH WAS PRETTY BLAND AND BORING. THE SALADS WERE PATHETIC AND DID NOT DO ANY MEAL JUSTICE. THE SERVICE WAS SO-SO, ALTHOUGH IT WAS ON A WEEKEND AND QUITE BUSY. STAFF, HOWEVER, WERE POLITE AND FRIENDLY. THEY REALLY NEED TO IMPROVE CONSIDERABLY AS THERE IS A LOT OF COMPETITION OUT THERE, MOST OF WHICH OUTSHINES THIS RESTAURANT.

They too much young staff that doesn’t know what to do. You ask for garlic oil . Don’t have. Ask someone else. Wait 10 minutes.ordering time to order is joke. Only a few gluten free pizzas. Have to ask 3 times for bill . Extra to pay on take away pizza . Try it not for me

The Tricolos is an authentic Italian restaurant with an very inviting atmosphere. I found the food to be of an excellent standard with good service. What a shame I found it on my last nights stay in Scarborough. If this restaurant was in Manchester it would surely be my to go to food heaven.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant! The staff were all so lovely and friendly! Definitely worth visiting next time you are in Scarborough! We will be returning! 🍕🍷

Had to ask twice for dessert menu due to young inexperienced staff. Pizza bases a little bland & carboardy.

Horrific Service Bland food. Staff try taking plates before you even finish. Tourist trap and a disgrace to the town.

Horrendous evening. Service was really slow from the start. We waited 40 mins from sitting down to getting asked if we wanted a drink and that's because we asked someone...3 times. Then a rude Waiter came and said 'ready to order' but they hadn't given...

Been here many times before but this time was poor we waited 30 minutes before a member of staff came to take our orders even though partner had gone to find some one when it eventually came we had no cutlery or serviettes the garlic bread was that thin and overcooked it was like a cracker my spaghetti bolognaise was cold and blan my partners was OK but thecube chicken in his pasta was strange I got up to complain and the rude manager removed my food no apologie and sent a young kid over to to tell me it was removed of the bill still not happy I asked the young girl to get the manager she came over still no apology was arguing back with me .The food was removed of the bill but customer service was shocking under staffed and very young staff the young staff were great under the pressure they were under I will not be returning
