The customer service here is applauding. The cafe part was full so we sat in the area (turns out to be the restaurant). There was NO sign to advise that you could sit in this area. So we queued only to be told that they would not serve us due us sitting in the wrong area. When we pointed out that there was no sign, the comment back was more or less “tough”. So we went to the cafe next door and spent £42.30. They do not deserve your custom.

I went here today with my parents when we were visiting. My and mum had queued up for food, and once at the counter we were asked for a table number. We'd not made a note of this as it generally is not needed for coffee and cake, most places will give these to you there and then, and this was the only place this message was displayed. The man serving was quite rude pointing at the sign and telling us "it says so here". We pointed out that this practice is not very easy when you are alone, as you cannot physically reserve a table, and stand in a queue at the same time, especially somewhere like here that is quite large and you may not be able to see the table. The person serving was very rude to us again in his response. The cake mum was ordering was not labelled, so when she offered to point it out the man again was rude to us, and at that point told us that he would not be serving us any more. We advised that as my dad is disabled and we couldn't easily move to another café his attitude was very blasé, and several people in the queue who had overheard this looked quite shocked at how we had been spoken to. When we asked to speak to a manager this member of staff said that he was the manager - if he genuinely is then this is modelling very poor practice to the staff. When we said we would be putting in a complaint he clearly wasn't bothered about that. I won't be going here again, especially when there are so many food choices at Trentham with much better service - I highly recommend Cadwaladers, I've been in there many times and have never had anything but excellent service there.

I visited Caffe Bello with my children and in laws for a Bank Holiday treat. It was busy, perhaps because it was bank holiday and yet the amount of staff present didn't accommodate for this. I first cleared the table of other people's empty cups and plates and placed them on the side, which was seen but not acknowledged by a member of staff. I then joined the queue to order. After 10-15 minutes in the queue, I was told there was a 20 minute wait on drinks. I ordered 2 coffees and a tea along with two cakes. I'm not sure why this was going to take 20 minutes as the lady on the till put the cakes onto plates where they then joined their own cake queue! I had asked for a scone with cream and jam, only to be told there was no cream left, which was disappointing at 11:30 in the morning. The lady on the till was very pleasant and competent. I wonder though whether the other members of staff need some more training as 20 minutes is a long time to wait. When they finally arrived, the drinks and cakes were very tasty - I'm not sure they deserved the high price tag though. The cafe itself is quite dated and the sofas seem quite random and old. Unfortunately, it was a rather negative experience and I will not be returning as a result.

Avoid the cafe belle in Trentham garden centre. £28 for 2 x shocking ciabatta and 2 x large coffees that wouldn't normally pass as small. Food was just awful and we're not fussy ppl. Staff are kids with very little ppl skills, unfortunately I couldn't give a below zero rating. August 2023

I ordered Staffordshire Oatcakes with an Italian Twist.... should have been filled with Parma Ham and Mozzarella Cheese. In fact one of the two very small oatcakes was filled with fatty bacon, not Parma Ham, and a very small amount of cheese. For £8.50 this made for an expensive bacon and cheese oatcake. The staff were very unhelpful really, barely acknowledging that this was unacceptable. We've eaten at the fabulous Italian next door on previous occasions, but Caffe Bella was a mistake.

What has happened to this place. I went to the garden centre with a friend. Our first stop is always been Cafe Bello, but what has gone so wrong. At 11am we ordered a cappuccino, a flat white and 2 teacakes. The cafe wasn’t busy, but it took 25 minutes for the drinks to arrive….no sign of the T Cakes. The cups were tiny and the coffee was cold. I returned the cold coffee to the counter to be replaced and asked why the cups were so tiny….I was told that’s how they come now. The last time I saw cups like this, was in a village hall. On top of the coffee machine were the cup we used to get. 10 minutes later the drinks were replaced and still no T. Cakes….still only luke warm, 3 swallows and they were gone. 5 more minutes T.Cakes appeared, cheap, nasty, cold an hard. It took 50 minutes for these to come. We had noticed other people complaining to a gentleman, and him taking their food back. As he passed our table, I stopped him. He said he was the assistant manager. I told him what had happened, he was most apologetic…. and couldn’t believe the t.cakes. He said the cappuccino should never have been served in those cups, but unfortunately the flat white now comes in the “ village hall “ cups. We were immediately offered a full refund, he also returned money to other customers. PLEASE DON’T BLAME COVID OR SUPPLY ISSUES. If it’s not fit to serve, then don’t serve it. It was so obvious that the staff were not interested in customers or customer service. Why do not smile ! The assistant manager was very conscientious, polite and very concerned about his customers. Sorry to say we will never visit this shambles of a cafe again.

I think that perhaps the quality of the coffee and food has improved since previous reviews. Personally I had the beef and onion sandwich and was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality, and my large cappuccino was also fine. The other 3 people in our party were also happy with their choices. In fact we went back later in the afternoon and had more drinks and some very tasty cakes. Yes it does take a while to place your order, and then another delay before it is bought to your table, but all seemed to be freshly prepared, and staff were all very pleasant. Prices do seem a little excessive and the cups are certainly smaller than they used to be,with no complimentary Amerreto biscuits now and the furniture needs to go to the nearby incinerator as its certainly "had it". I'm a fairly fit 75 year old but found it difficult to rise from the seat, more like the floor. The other silly thing they are still doing is putting your damp cake on to your napkin, making them soggy and useless. The food was actually fine, and the fact that the cafe was full at 12 o'clock means they must be doing something right.

We decided to call in for a drink and cake as the cakes looked so good. The place was rather empty, so we expected quick service. We were firstly told they wouldn't take our order unless we took a seat first...so as we have a toddler, (and my back has caused me trouble since a c-section), we made our way over to the tables and chairs. We were told we couldn't sit at them, as they were for the restraunt only. I asked for a high chair for our little one, which they had....but then the only tables they had on offer were low style coffee tables!! So now my little one is in a high chair, about 2 foot higher than the table he is sat at!!! ....and don't even get me started on the discomfort I had sitting and bending low to my cake, then getting back up again, off their low sofas!!! (I must add...the restraunt didn't even look at 20% capacity, there was plenty of room!) Then just to add insult to injury...they served the cake ON TOP of the napkin...so the napkin is useless as it's covered in chocolate cake. ....now isn't that 'green'?! Such a shame the experience was ruined by the poor seating arrangements. I know my gran wouldnt have been able to get put of these seats if we woukd have brought her too. Shame...because actually, the cake was nice!

This has to serve the worst tea and coffee in the area! I’ve gone back several times, hoping it would improve but it hasn’t! Such a shame. I wonder if they service their coffee machines? I asked for a weak tea for my mother and was told it just comes as it comes! When it arrived it was undrinkable! The only good thing is the comfy seating.

My wife and I always enjoy a coffee in the restaurant at Trentham Gardens so for the first time in a long time (1st October) we thought we would try it again, unfortunately we arrived at 11.35 and were told they were serving lunches after 11.30 and were advised to try Cafe Bello. When we entered, we both had the same feeling, it looked dim and uninviting but decided to give it a try. The sofa and chairs we sat on were ripped, sponge was poking out of the seat covers and arms so not a particularly good start. I made my way to the reception to place an order for two Americano coffees and a slice of Cherry Bakewell which I was told they didn't have. The young man on the reception looked as though he'd just been given a life sentence, no smile, no friendly greeting, I ordered an apple and blackberry frangipane. The cake arrived at the table quite quickly but it looked stale and fell apart, we then had to wait a further ten minutes for the coffees, I sent my coffee back as the cup had clearly not been washed properly. The whole place is in need of a make over, it feels dirty, dingy and outdated and on top of that I thought £3 for a coffee over priced, it's 2.35 in M&S and £2.40 in John Lewis so £3 for a luke warm coffee was disappointing. Needless to say we will never be going there again, we will make sure we arrive at Trentham before 11.30am in future. 0 out of 10 from us.

The cafe was clean and staff pleasant, but when we ordered three toasted teacakes we weren't expecting slices of toasted fruitbread/cake with mini pots of jam at more than double the cost of proper teacakes at other restaurants. The three mini americanos and one exceedingly small cappuccino were similarly expensive at £11. The above plus a cake came to a little more than £27 - which would have been fine if the quality of the catering had matched the prices. All in all a very disappointing experience. Our first visit, and definitely our last.

I'll start on a positive and say the service was good in relation to my complaint, but the food was very disappointing. The prawn marie rose roll only tasted of cheap margarine and was priced at nearly £8.00. The Scone was stale and wasn't the type of scone we asked for. Really disappointed as I don't get to take my mum out much for lunch and we love trentham gardens. I certainly won't be eating there again and hope something changes, as it's a big letdown for a lovely facility. The food was sent back and just the drinks were had.

Popped in on Saturday for the first time here. We come to Trentham Gardens very often as annual ticket holders.Garden centre is superb. We came to this cafe mid day, place looks nice, plenty of seating but busy and managed to find somewhere.Although not necessarily the fault of the garden centre but it was very cold, had to sit in our coats the whole time. There is a little area for children to read books which is great for our 5 year old.I queued for food and drinks, usual 15 or so min wait to get served. That's fine and to be expected.Ordered food and drinks, they have a very nice selection of cakes. They are very expensive though, £2.95 for a pastry and £4.10 for a slice of cake. Anyway, ordered hot food and drinks. Food came out fairly quickly, but literally placed on our table and the second they were put down the girl had legged it, before asking if we had everything needed. We didn't so I had to hunt around for tomato and mayo.We finished our meals and finally the drinks arrived - so from ordering I reckon took drinks a good 20 mins or more to arrive. My cappuccino was only just warm and my wife's Belgian hot chocolate was the same. Again left with us so quickly (different girl this time) that I didn't get a second to ask for a sweetener for my cappuccino. Once again had to hunt around for sweeteners - couldn't find one though. Oh, also my cappuccino was incredibly weak, very little coffee went into it - odd really as never had one like that and I drink an insane amount of coffee from everywhere under the sun.Whilst I waited to order drooling at the cakes I observed how they made drinks. They made them in order, but in a literal line/queue, so they were being made very fast, but then slowly dispatched to tables. This is why our drinks were cool. The lack of customer service and weird way to serve drinks is why I am marking this down to 3/5. I can see from all the reviews on here that this is something not new, so whilst I wait for the obligatory copy/paste 'sorry you had a bad experience' message I'll say not to worry as nothing seems to be getting done to fix problems that have been going on for a long time it seems. On walking out to pay for our purchases we noticed an actual restaurant, it was soooooooo much better in every way it seemed, far more food selection, even more cakes and was nice and warm. But very busy so unsure how easy it is to get a table there. It's not bad here, but they do need to improve things so don't be surprised if you experience similar problems to us or the many others who have left negative reviews.

On one of our periodic visits to Trentham we decided to take coffee in Caffe Bello with waitress service instead of using the usual counter service around the corner. Mistake! I paid £5.90 for two cappuccinos and then we sat and waited, for over 10 minutes before our drinks arrived. The waitress did not acknowledge or interact with us. She just left the tray and departed. Worse, the coffee tasted more like frothy latte than cappuccino. Far too milky. Overall we thought it poor value. Cafe Bello is situated in the Garden Centre and is part of a very busy and noisy area. Generally there seems to be a queue for ordering and this can take some time. We placed our order and then sat to await the arrival of the food and drinks. We had some time to wait - even for the drinks - so we browsed the bill! The salad and the sandwich were both charged at £1 more than the price on the menu! This may not be a lot on one bill but must surely be extremely profitable at the end of the day! If the prices have been changed on the till then this should show up on the menu used for ordering. When the sandwich arrived - granary bloomer bread with king prawn and cucumber - it was white bread and not granary! We didn't bother to quibble about this but is was very disappointing!

Don't know why agreed to be sitting here again as I've already been a few times before and never enjoyed it, poor service and over priced. But...here I am again at some one else's request I might add, waiting 15 mins and counting for a coffee, a tea and one cake for the best part of a tenner. Never again!!

Being a local and living just across the road in Trentham I'm quite proud of what has been achieved in redeveloping the gardens and the addition of shops and restaurants, this being reflected in the rise in numbers of visitors to the area. Just three weeks ago I took some friends who'd travelled from Dunstable for some Christmas shopping and my 90 year old mother to the garden centre cafe ( she was once a guilder in the local pottery industry) but imagine my embarrassment when after having meals and lukewarm coffee I turned over the crockery cups and saucers to find that they had been made in Australia ?? VERY DISSAPOINTING !! And only a few miles from the Wedgwood factory !! - Come on Trentham this is Staffordshire !!

Lukewarm coffee. Where's the Staffordshire China ? The food ( ham panini ) was good with plenty of side salad.

Staff miserable, doesn't take to much effort to smile! Asked for a soya coffee was tasteless and lumpy. Asked for them to replace it and the same. Didn't like it much today.

Smile!!! Often call in for cuppa but good grief what a miserable bunch of staff serving behind the counter! Looks as though theyve all had a fall out! Coffee nice enough but just the atmosphere makes one feel a bit in the way.

I went for a drink with my friend.we only ordered 2 cokes, quite expensive for a drink £2.25 each. You have to give your table number and wait but considering we only ordered 2 drinks we were still left waiting 15 minutes.

Firstly long wait in queue, beware you have to grab a spare seat first. This makes it difficult if you are on your own. Don't find a table without a number as the cashier will treat you like an idiot for not having a table number. Once seated you will find the remnants of the previous occupants dirty crockery still on the table. After a long wait. in our case 15 minutes for just two coffees, a surly, for want of a better word, waiter arrived, no conversation just a stare and then proceeded to throw the dirty crockery onto a tray, spilling the cold remnants of coffee over us. No attempt made to clean the table itself. During our wait we saw very little effort to clean away any of the tables.

Called for a coffee. Despite the fact that the upholstery on the chairs is fairly new the seat on my chair was fairly grubby. We had to ask for the table to be cleared. A girl came out and removed the used crockery. She had a damp cloth which she used to push the numerous crumbs onto the floor but did not wipe the stains, and went away leaving paper rubbish still othe table. Coffee was Ok

Ordered tea for 7 and it lasted for ever, friendly attentive staff on a very busy day. Great chill out zone from the enormous garden centre that seems to sell everything.

We love this place come here a few times a month for a latte while in the garden centre ... I know it's only a coffee shop but as far as coffee shops go it's a 5* ... It is quite a busy place though and can be difficult to get a seat especially at the weekend but if you like coffee & cake give it a try .

This is a very large cafe area of the Garden Centre. Although the coffee was good the tables and floor were messy with dirty crockery, spills and remnants of food. During our stay of about 20 minutes we saw little clearing or cleaning and patrons were left to wipe up the mess of previous occupants before they sat down. Shame really but maybe we came here on a bad day.

Lovely burger and a great atmosphere, we had tea and watched the Euros. Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious with great portion sizes.

The Shrewsbury Arms is one of those traditional pubs with lots of nooks, crannies and little snugs. Add a roaring, real fire and it is cosiness at its best. There were the ubiquitous tellies on the walls for sport but, in much more traditional vein, there was also a large selection of board games for those of that persuasion. We were happy enough just to enjoy our beers by the fire, which felt particularly luxurious on such a freezing cold evening. Service was nice and this is a really good pub.

Not eaten here for a while. However, we decided to give it a go. Two lattes and shared a fish n chips. Absolutely superb, crispy batter, moist fish and crunchy fat chips. The coffees were piping hot. Excellent food and good value. Staff friendly and obviously take pride in their work. Positive changes here 👍
