We had a very unpleasant visit at this establishment. When entering, my friend moved one step further from the “please wait to be seated” sign to make some room, and was immediately scoffed at by a waiter. After ordering, our drinks were brought after about 15 minutes, and we were asked to pay at this point. We considered this weird but happily obliged. In hindsight, I think this is done to prevent customers from leaving after ordering.. We waited for our food (2 burgers) for about 40 minutes! There were other customers, sure, but most of them only got pastries from the till, only 2-3 tables aside from us ordered from the kitchen. Good that we were absolutely starving when we got our meals, since both the burgers were very dry and tasteless, and would’ve otherwise been left uneaten.

Absolutely the poorest quality food. Burgers chewey and served with Cheetos ( children's) and crisps (adults). Though it says chips on the menu. We left our food and gave the burger to the dog.

Disappointing visit from beginning to end. The welcome could have been better with a little more finesse than was offered. Ordered our food and drinks - no issue there but when the drinks came over the next thing was 'How do you want to pay, cash or card?' We weren't impressed with this and told them we might have wanted to add something else on after our sandwiches. This was accepted and off the girl went. We overheard a customer complaining that her young grandchild was waiting for his toastie, the response she received left us further unimpressed with customer service. Our sandwiches arrived, too much spread on one of them and the other was dry and bland. The Tortilla chips were of poor quality. Whilst eating, one of the servers carrying the high chair previously occupied by the child waiting for their toastie bumped one of our chairs. It was obvious that it had collided with something but she didn't even blink an eye or offer an apology. Overall the experience left us unimpressed and disappointed, it was expensive for 2 sub-standard sandwiches, 2 coffees and a soft drink. Businesses are struggling, we're aware of this and that's why we try to support the smaller cafes but this place has to up its game and until it does, it's unlikely we will return.

Visited here yesterday and were totally disappointed. Waited a very long time on food, teapot came with hot water but no tea bag. Went up to desk to ask for one and lady , who was on teas and coffees , was sure I should have one or reckoned it must have fallen off. Whenever do you get a pot of tea with teabag by the side!!. She did give me one but no apology. I counted 6 members of staff but have never seen such disorganised chaos in a very small place. No one knew who was doing what.3 lots of people left in time we were there, so wish we had joined them. One member of staff was very bossy and had a voice that would cut steel which was not pleasant to listen too.Felt very sorry for younger members of staff. Level of hygiene, ie washing of table was really poor especially at a time like this. Quick spray and table half wiped. Cloth also not rinsed between tables. Awful!!!!

We were passing through and were hungry and thirsty. Our daughter asked for a chicken sandwich and my husband and I had toasties. I should have been suspicious when we weren’t asked what kind of bread we wanted for our daughter’s sandwich. She was served a children’s sandwich (which we didn’t ask for). It was on cheap white bread and rather than a side salad (as the adults were given), she was given crisps. The toasties for my husband and I were burnt, the cheese wasn’t melted and the side salad had just been thrown together. Had we not had these as a take-away they would have been sent straight back. Our coffees came a good 10 minutes before the food and when I explained that we were taking away and that I’d appreciate the food and drink at the same time the waitress looked at me blankly and then proceeded to criticise me to her colleague.I’m glad we weren’t sitting in as the place was filthy. The staff were rushing around and were relatively clueless. This is a very badly run cafe where the basics are lacking. And the coffee was disgusting.

Visiting family & thought we would get a quick bite to eat whilst visiting Lomond shores. Shame the burger van wasn’t there as this cafe might have been able to cope. Ordered 2 hot dogs and a toastie, after 30mins without anyone acknowledging our order was taking a while I asked how long it would be. The lady with the grey hair snapped at me, and was quite rude. She then walked to the side of the door and started vaping in front of customers, and walked back inside proceeding to touch her hair and face and didn’t sanitise or wash her hands. The 2 young girls at the front also snapped that they were busy. They had at least 8 members of staff on with 3 tables inside and 3 tables outside, who had all mainly been served by the time we arrived. Poorly managed and hectic, over priced for an undercooked hot dog and stale crisps. The boy outside on the ice cream stall, was wearing gloves but touching his mobile phone. The staff need a refresher on food hygiene level 1 as minimum. Not once did I see any staff sanitise their hands, or go through Covid procedures. Although we were standing there for over 30 mins we were not asked to do track and trace and didn’t see them do it with anyone that went to sit down either. They seem to be putting profits over the safety of their customers and staff, and do not know the meaning of the word hospitality which is a shame because it gives a bad impression to those visiting Lomond shores and Balloch.

I have eaten here several times since the latest reopening. It was the only cafe open. The food is good, and offers toasties, sandwiches, baked potatoes, all with lovely side salad, hot dogs, and soup with bread (not always crusty bread, although it's advertised as that) They have a really good selection of cakes, including a fair number of gluten free ones. I've never been disappointed with any meal here. There are no cooked dinner type meals here, but you will certainly be well fed and not go hungry.

After a look around the shops we stopped off here for drinks, it's a Thorntons cafe & the prices didn't appear too high but that was the only decent aspect, our table was still cluttered with dirty dishes & crumbs so we moved them onto another full table & then wiped it down with a serviette, there was chaos in the queue as customers were joining from both sides, easily sorted with a sign, but that requires common sense. Took almost 10 minutes to get served & the service wasn't quick once at the counter, hot chocolate was extra for marshmallows! It started to rain, so quickly filled up but the queue started to block the entrance so several people left, I would've too had I been on my own or with hubby, total lack of training, lack of organisation, one serving, one taking payment, one clearing tables, sorted, not rocket science.

Came in here today with my mum for a quick cup of tea. My mum also ordered a cheese and tomato toastie. What a disappointment. The tea came in old, dirty, chipped cups and was lukewarm. The toastie was barely toasted, pale white and lukewarm again. The cheese was in clumps and unmelted, and there were two lonely bits of tomato in the middle. We considered asking for a fresh one as we thought it might have been a one off, until we saw the table next to us get the same thing. So disappointing considering this is a prime spot for tourist trade, and the place charges an extortionate £4.95 for the 'toasties'.

Was a nice wee day, taking the dog a walk round the Loch and fancied a hot chocolate, so whilst my fiancée stood out with the dog in the cold, I waited in the queue. And waited. 'Til around 15 minutes later.. So there was a server, seemed as though she was slightly managerial (in title, only). Anyways, she left the till to go on the phone - and walking around the cafe talking NOT about the business, it was clearly a personal call. So she puts this young chap on serving while she walks between the waiting customers to get a better signal, meanwhile this lad has been trying to make a hot chocolate since before I was waiting, still at it (hint - don't try and stir a hot chocolate with a dessert spoon if it's in a latte glass .. ). So nobody is getting served. There was another employee who's sole purpose appeared to be moving one spoon at a time around the till area, as this was all that was witnessed for the duration. So the lady on the call finishes, and in amongst the chaos, there is now a massive 'queue' of people - lots of confused patrons waiting anywhere to be served - to which this lady picks a point in the queue, moves them to the side and decides that's the new queue, so after waiting near 20 minutes for a simple Hot Chocolate to go, I've been told that I need to join the back of a new queue of people who weren't even on the premises when I'd started waiting - and I did ask her to clarify what was to happen "the queue comes down this side though" we were told. Okay, that's fine but there's nothing to indicate as such, and you walked through the queues at least 3 times whilst on the phone and showed no interest then. Knew full well who was in the queue, without giving anything away I wasn't hardly in the least recognisable attire. At this point, people were agitated, folk the were getting nowhere Andrew the attitude of this woman wasn't just downright horrendous. I'll never be back there, I'll never give them a penny and I'll never, ever even think about recommending this place to anyone, unless they ask where to avoid.Shocking service, horrendous attitude and it doesn't seem like any of them have had any experience or training at all. If you're thirsty, looking to cool down or the likes, you'll get a better service dookin' yourself in the Loch, cheaper too!

Poorly run. Place not particularly clean, cutlery filthy. Staff member that day was very nice. But when I challenged him about my toastie only having 1 filling he proceeded to charge me for a toastie with two fillings at £4.75, scandalise price for a toastie anyway, the board saying 40p per extra filling. So my price should have been reduced by 40p for only 1 filling. But they wouldn't do this. This is the second time I have been in. The last time I was very disappointed with the very rude woman who served me and proceeded to say there was nothing available on the breakfast board, I mean what kind of cafe is this supposed to be I ask. My husband I went to the Caffe at the Shores, looking forward to a roll and sausage and a coffee for a sunday morning treat whilst out with our dog. It was around 11 in the morning and the place was still quite quiet. He sat outside whilst I went in to wait. There were 3 or 4 people in front of me who were being served very very slowly and during that time, more and more piled in until there were about 20 of us standing in a big huddle in front of the counter which was filled with delicious cakes. Eventually after about 15 minutes I got served, and waited at the counter for another 15 minutes when finally our coffee appeared. No rolls though - they were still cooking. Took the coffees outside (no spoons or sugar given) - drank them then ate the rolls and sausage a further 15 minutes later with nothing to wash them down. Don't get me wrong, it was all tasty and good value for money, but I was just hungry, fed up, and bored waiting - there were several members of staff, mostly young, and all pleasant but the service really was terrible - we won't go back.

Visited last week with a friend from North Carolina and we had an excellent snack of hot rolls with sausage and teas (no extra charge for fruit tea) .We left and strolled along admiring the view when a Café employee rushed after us to return my purse, which had slipped out of my handbag and was underneath the armchair where we had been sitting.A day's sightseeing and a lot of inconvenience had been saved by that very kind, honest, prompt gesture.Iwould certainly be glad to return to this establishment.

Service was very slow food only served to us after I complained had to ask for fresh tea as it was cold it took so long for them to make a ham sandwich. Sandwich was dried up and the SCONE was no better. Both the bread and SCONE had obviously been sitting around for a while. Save your money go to BALLOCH for food.

Not a very pleasant cafe. Decor is tired and dated. Felt greasy and grubby. The cakes looked like they'd been lying around a while. Ciabatta rolls advertised but not available. Took 40 minutes to acquire two toasted sandwiches. Staff were doing their best in quite depressing conditions.

Friendly service and shelter from heavy rain brought strong coffee and a cardinal error - white chocolate in a fruit scone?! Furniture looks worn and requires urgent replacement to provide the desired impression in the face of strong local competition.

The cafe itself is in a lovely location at Loch Lomond Shores but there's by far nicer places to go.We visited on Sunday and it was quite busy but not so much so that staff were run off their feet. The tables and surrounding areas were dirty and sticky. There was cutlery and crockery still strewn throughout and the cup we were given was chipped. Staff seemed totally unaware to the messiness of their surroundings and weren't very attentive to the comings and goings. I was left very disappointed by the whole experience and highly doubt I'll be returning.

Spotlessly clean and very wide choice of food. Hot or cold. We had sandwiches and they are freshly made to order. Sandwiches are packed with filling and a side salad is also on your plate, quite a meal in itself.

We visited today for a quick bite to eat. Two lattes, one was given in a glass, the other in a mug, the one in the mug had hardly any coffee added??? Floor was quite dirty when we were in, but gave the cafe the benefit of the doubt as a family with children had been in. Teaspoon however, couldn't be given the same excuse, was dirty after taking out the clean cutlery tray. The lady's who served me didn't even look at me, she just took my order, made the coffees, took my money and started to serve the next customer. No smiles or thank you. Doubt I will eat there again, which is a shame, it could be so nice.

Visiting Lomond Shore and decided we would have a quick lunch.Other than Jenners on the ground floor there was only one other place on the ground floor Caffe@the Shores. It was busy but the queue went in quick. Choices were good, soup and bread, paninis, sandwiches, baked potatoes, a special menu for children. Prices were between £3.95 and £4.95.We chose the sandwich with tuna mayo with red onion. It also came with a salad. The bread was so fresh and really enjoyable. We had cappachino but there were flavoured teas and flavoured syrups for coffee at an extra cost.Black mark for not clearing tables quick enough, and the lady serving could have maybe smiled and look as if she was enjoying herself a few people said the same.Would return if it was just for a quick sandwich.

Just had coffee/tea and scones- excellent value at £6 for tea, coffee and 2 scones. It's a big barn of a place, so a little short of atmosphere, but black coffee was a good strong brew and the scones were excellent.

Spare a thought for the workers who are being payed with fake notes by the employer and not being reimbursed. The employees are then having to pay it back out of their tips! A total disgrace to call yourself a manager/business man!

We went here for a quick bite to eat but as we timed our arrival just as a coach party arrived it was anything but quick.Standing for ages in the queue made me notice two things - one (which shouldn't necessarily go against the cafe as it is a personal gripe of mine but hey ho) is that they can't spell the word Coffees. On both the window and the canopy above the counter it was spelt as Coffee's. Incorrect use of apostrophes is one thing that really annoys me! The other was that the girl taking orders and taking money never once used the word "please". She just said how much things were. I thought this was pretty rude. The food that we got (baguettes and coffee) were very nice but I doubt I would go again - especially if I had to wait 20 - 30 minutes for them.

We called in for a quick lunch, and were a bit disappointed by the quality of food on offer and the way it was presented. This used to be an excellent Café, and in a very busy place, but standards have slipped quite badly. Still a good selection of cakes and biscuits, but the toasties and salad preparation needs some urgent attention.

What a great selection of cakes, pastries and ice cream. Good coffee. Service was good considering we visited on a busy Saturday afternoon after swimming in the Great Scottish Swim. Great place to go off your diet and not care.

Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is also very good. All that said the drinks prices are dreadful; a 175ml glass of wine £17.50, a cocktail £25! Sadly they certainly overcharge on drinks by a considerable margin. Cremant at £10 for 125ml is quite reasonable!
