Cafe Widemouth in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

What’s not to love about this wonderful cafe overlooking Widemouth beach. It’s so good we visited for a yummy breakfast (especially the breakfast stack) every day of our trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the service efficient and food quality high, with generous portion sizes and reasonable prices it’s a must visit. It’s also dog friendly. With seating inside and out and plenty of paid for parking on site.

Lovely restaurant on edge of the bay overlooking the sea, this was our second trip.. this time for the'Widdy' breakfast, which was beautifully cooked and tasted delicious, the afternoon before we had a cream tea which was also very scrummy😋 the queue to be served (quite quickly) shows how poplar it us and we'll worth the few minutes waiting to be served 10/10 for food and friendly service 😀

Had a delicious lunch. Fish and chips. Cooked beautifully. Finished with the most delicious scone ( warm) with jam and cream. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We have been visiting the area and this cafe for several years. Always had an excellent experience. Hope to pop back before we go home.

I am writing this review so you can see the Menu and Silly prices that this place charges. They really do have the commodity to charge whatever they like due to their location next to Widemouth Bay Beach. £2.50 for 2 pieces of bread toast seriously?? The queque's are mad and outside tables need clearing more often. Watched an old guy pull up to get a coffee for him and his Wife and then after seeing the queque and price decided not to bother. If you kept prices more reasonable you would have even more Custom! We won't be back.

Wouldn’t bother, honestly i had extremely high expectations for this cafe when reading the reviews. I ordered a veggie breakfast, cup of tea and a slice of the vegan coconut flapjack. I sat down on one of the tables inside, unfortunately it was sticky and dirty which wasnt the best first impression. I requested some sanitiser to wipe it down however i was ignored by a member of their staff. The flapjack tasted as if it had just come out the freezer (completely flavourless), the tea was nice however i asked for soya milk and i recieved regular cows milk (i saw them pouring it on the counter behind). The breakfast was mediocre at best however could have been better if there wasnt a pink hair on the side of it. Overall, i believe this place could be nice, just a huge shame due to the beautiful location of it.

We've passed this cafe before but it's always been packed. We had the best coffee we've had this week. The carrot cake was delicious too. Great views of the beach. The staff were helpful.

Great location overlooking the beach, staff really friendly. Had a cream tea, warm scones jam and lashings of clotted cream, delicious. Coffee was lovely too also reasonably priced.

I arrived shortly after opening and was exhausted after a long drive. No one was at the counter but I could hear voices in the kitchen area. After a while no one came out so I called to see if anyone was serving. I waited a bit longer and still no one appeared. After a while an older woman came to the counter and stood opposite me playing on her phone. I said hello and was ignored. I spoke to her again and was ignored whilst she played on her phone. I couldn't believe how rude she was so I picked up a menu and tore it in half right in front of her, threw it on the counter, and she still ignored me. Needless to say I walked out and will never return to such a rude, unfriendly cafe. For what its worth the menu was also sticky.

Wow! What a great location for breakfast. Stunning views of the bay whilst enjoying top quality food and service. I dropped in for breakfast at just after 10.00 a.m, would have gone earlier if I had known it was open. I sat outside with my dog, after ordering a Widdy breakfast, The table buzzer to locate you is a clever idea! Food came quickly delivered to the table (announced by buzzer). It was well presented and looked delicious! Best breakfast I had during my stay in Cornwall. Bacon was excellent quality, and the egg cooked to perfection. I didn’t leave a morsel. I will be back! Dog friendly place inside and out, menu catered for all and prices really reasonable. Thank you for your warm welcome and great service.

We walked to Widemouth from Bude and we were glad of the warm refuge of the Widemouth Cafe. Its situated just of the beach with great views of the ocean. I ordered food with a new /trainer employee who was excellent and made a great Latte. We all ate a different meal. I had the breakfast stack who was really tasty. My youngest had the Widdy Breakfast (a cooked breakfast served all day) my wife had the fish finger open sandwich from the specials board. This was no normal fish finger sandwich it was fresh goujons of cod freshly battered to perfection on site chips and salad too. My eldest had the Veggie chilli fries. Fries loaded with a veggie chilli and salad. This was very tasty and an excellent portion size. The price of everything is fair given its location and lack of competition. Well done we all loved it. Dogs were welcome to.

Hey, I visited yesterday lunchtime with my family of four and I must say it was absolutely shocking I have come down all the way from Bristol for this. Utter disappointment. Also they missed out three things from our order and forgot the fact that my 4 year old son who is very allergic to dairy asked for a chocolate milk shake and has been extremely ill ever since. We also ordered a veggie breakfast for my wife and there was ginger hair on the side of the plate next to the beans which is not what I expect from what looked to be a lovely place to go on our holiday. My full English breakfast was ordered 40 minutes before it was finally put on the table and was practically cold. Overall I really do not recommend widemouth bay cafe and we certainly will never come again I asked to speak to the manager but she was not cooperative and did not want to speak to me, extremely rude and I am incredibly disappointed. I hope no one else has to go through this again.

I dashed into here to seek refuge from a storm. Although I was bedraggled & dripping wet I was welcomed like an old friend. Massive mug of tea & a fabulous Rocky Road set me right before heading out into the elements again.

Fantastic cafe - excelllent portions and reasonable prices considering its location. Child friendly with Highchairs and babyccino's available and kids options on the menu.

As expected the usual over inflated prices for a beachside cafe. Have to comment however on the staff. They were all SO miserable. A smile goes a long way and to not smile even once while greeting and serving customers perhaps a customer facing job isn’t for them.

Situated next to Widemouth Beach this friendly cafe serves great well cooked food. The staff are very courteous and maintain the tables to a very clean standard.

Really lovely service, thanks girls <3 gluten free and vegan options and great value for money, WiFi and even let me charge my phone a bit so I could pay for the bus home. We will be back x

We haven't been here in a while so thought we would give it a go. We both had fish, chips and coffee. Good quick service and great food with a sea view. I'm sure we will be back during the winter months.

Great little beach cafe with seating inside and out and plenty of paid parking on site. Also runs a loyalty card for coffee which runs from one year to the next. Well worth a visit.

Visited for lunch while on holiday. Lovely views. But fish and chips were of poor quality. I was looking forward to having fish. But the batter was poor. Very disappointed.

Just the place for a hot cup of tea after being on the beach. We both eat here after surfing and the breakfast is huge and very tasty. It can get busy but there is a takeaway service if you want to eat in your car.

Incredible cafe with wonderful food and staff. Went on a busy day (lunchtime rush hour) and left satisfied more then ever! We had the sunset smoothie which was incredible, dirty fries which were delicious! a classic cornish pasty with this tomato relish which was lovely. the staff were very friendly and helpful! Awful service and incredibly rude manager! We ordered and waited at a table outside. We waited and waited. An hour later, they came to tell us they had run out of one of the food items as they had sold them all - we even witnessed others who came after us being given them and eating said item - despite the fact we’d ordered an hour before. We had to choose something else. At this point you would expect whilst we had clearly been forgotten and the cafe had made an error, they would have been apologetic and then prioritised us when others had all come and gone…. No. Another 15minutes and nothing. We put a complaint in to find out where our food was to be told lies… we ran out of that item ages ago (question: why did you sell it to us - answer - don’t know), we were suddenly told there had always been a long wait on food. Why were we not told at purchase and why had all the tables vacated after eating their food and we were still waiting. The employee then proceeded to tell us about our difficult choice of food… we had ordered a cheese sandwich, a pasty and chips… not exactly complicated. I asked to speak to the manager who made me wait further time and then refused to come and speak to me - I could see her in the kitchen and watched her raging - angry /moaning and shouting about us. Incredibly rude! If you as a business make an error, own your error, apologise and make up for it. Don’t get defensive/rude/shout and act cowardly. They refused any discount/refund. Eventually we got our lunch at 2:55pm - hardly lunch time anymore! We will never visit again and be sure to tell many people about this experience.

Great café right by the beach. Lovely food, service can be a little slow, but that is because they are busy because it's so popular. Food is hot and tasty, smoothies and milkshakes are really good. Lattes are pretty good too. Would recommend Widemouth bay café.

Called on 18/6/23 at 10-25. Hubby joined queue & was still in it at at 10-55 seems no system at till, serving customers inside & outside same till doesn't work. I watched tables been cleared but not one was cleaned down & some cutlery wasn't clean had to be choosy what you picked. Food was very nice once it arrived 2 breakfast stacks. Staff pleasant as rushed off there feet.

I love visiting Widemouth Bay, and the Cafe is always a firm favourite of mine. It is popular and rightly so. It serves a selection of both vegetarian and non vegetarian meals. Indoor and outdoor dining options, with WiFi an added bonus. The staff are friendly and attentive to guests, and I definitely recommend it.

We stopped here for coffee part way through a circular walk from Bude. The coffee is a bit on the weak side but that may be due to the large paper cups its served in.

We visited both Crooklet Beach cafe and Widemouth cafe. Decaf coffee is superb. The menu doesn’t offer a great deal if you’re looking for healthier options - but they do a smoothie that’s just fruit. The fruit scone was divine, vegan breakfast very good. The dogs loved their hot chips. Great that our 3 dogs were very welcome in both locations. Friendly helpful staff. We purchased a pack of their locally made shortbread - it’s the best EVER!!! Wished we bought more. The locally made Ginger Beer was delicious.

First visit to the cafe inside since the summer when it was takeaway only. Lovely views of the sea, good cafe food with daily specials, coffee and traybakes. Friendly staff and good service. The cafe tables were at a good social distance and tables cleaned. The only downside was that the cleaner used is affecting the wood surface of tables making them very very sticky and unpleasant.

25 minutes to get 2 drinks - what a joke. When we arrived almost all the outside tables were full, but It took sooooo long to get served, they were almost all vacant. The hot chocolate was very nice. Just not worth the wait.

This is a nice, clean cafe with friendly staff and good service. It has the standard fare of burgers, fish and chips... much as you’d expect and not a lot in the way of salads. It’s all tasty and nicely presented. The kids’ options are really limited though- fish fingers/sausages/chicken nuggets + chips. That’s a bit disappointing and old-fashioned given that in 2020 some children are vegetarian or vegan and some even eat salad! Even McDo offers healthier options for their kids’ meals. I’m not suggesting these things should be removed from the menu- just that other choices might be added.

Had to wait in the lunchtime line for 35 minutes; but in terms of the food and coffee it was worth it. The simple sandwiches were delicious and clearly fresh. Coffee was great. My only concern - and I had plenty of time to observe - was the volume of folk not wearing face masks when going inside to collect their orders. Clearly there are some great precautions being taken and that was evident; however the request to wear masks when ordering was very tentative. Needs to be firm and clear. Also the sign on the door is not very obvious when the door is open.
