Cafe Vita in Worthing

Lockdown has meant we have been unable to eat in. The fish and chips are so scrummy that we have got take away and sat on a bench on sea front. As could not miss out on this great fish and chips treat

My wife and I ate here regularly before the lock down and will again. The portions were good, service was good and they even returned my wallet untouched when I left it on the chair. Nothing to complete about - only complements. xxxx

1st January .Was busy serving takeaways due to Covid. Others were closed. Staff friendly . Large cod small chips £7.99 comes in a good size box to eat from. Chips batter & fish were very tasty & well presented. I felt the Cod was on the thin side.Kevin

Found this cafe next door to a couple of other fish and chip shops just over the road from the pier. Sitting outside at a couple of tables under the awnings to escape the wind and rain from another wet October half-term day. My kid said that the child size portion of cod and chips was fantastic. The chips were a nice golden colour, crisp on the outside and soft inside: they were delicious. The plaice tasted fresh, cooked to perfection with light crispy batter. Service was prompt and efficient. Is it the fact that they're so close to two other chippies that they have to up their game? If so, they certainly have. Eating here made me forget about the weather for a while.

Found this lovely restaurant during another torrent of rain yesterday.Myself and three others had the fish and chips: fabulous!The pensioners offer of £7.50 is a great touch. The added bread and butter helps fill the tummy til lunch time.There's a wide menu, so if we had found it earlier we would have definitely had our breakfast here.The staff are lovely, with the two young ladies working yesterday going out of their way to accommodate their customers.Will definitely be going back!

When visiting Worthing this is our go to cafe for fish & chips. Vita’s cod and chips are always tasty and freshly cooked. Well worth a visit when at the seaside.

OAP deal ,cod and chips ,bread and butter, coffee at £6 .75 was a good deal but now £11 for same cod and chips and just coffee is not good value, will try elsewhere.

Dropped in for sit down fish and chip meal. Staff very helpful. Food was excellent. Very crisp chips and batter.

The fish and chips were good. This place has stopped doing pensioners lunches during the pandemic. Used to be £6.95 for a small fish and chips (plenty) bread and butter, coffee or tea. Now £8.95 for medium fish and chips plus extra for beverage and anything else. No longer an affordable pensioner treat. The staff did not wear masks or gloves and were not seen to wash or sanitise their hands once. The tables were given a perfunctory wipe. Chairs, menus, condiment pots were not cleaned at all. Not a particularly enjoyable treat.

this cafe never fails to provide superb fish and chips, whether eat-in or take away and is great value for money. not to be missed.

They got delicious homemade triffle and bannoffie pie. And also they’ve really nice ice cream.🍧🍧🍧🍧🍧🍧

This place was a recommendation so we decided to pop in with work colleagues. The food was fresh and service was brilliant. Will deffinetly come back

Warm and clean inside and a friendly service. Good choice on the menu. Had toasted cheese and onion sandwiches which came with salad and coleslaw - delicious.

Second visit ... and probably our last!Got some chips to takeaway some time back, portion sizes good and came in a box (not great for the environment?) but didn’t really rate the chips, very Chunky but almost yellowish In colour do don’t know what oil they are fried in. Visited again as gave benefit of the doubt with family and again same chips, even my sister in law commented about them not being very nice. So not just my opinion!

Very traditional restaurant on the seafront which caters for most tastes. Good menu covering mainly British meals and lighter snacks. We sampled both a cheese omelette and a large cod and chips. Both reasonably priced and beautifully cooked. As locals we were proud and impressed and will return!!

Went here with my partner and children. A meal each, a drink each. Very reasonable in terms of price. Service was lovely and staff were very friendly. Proper chips served in the cafe!

Disapointed in fish. Waited a good while for a piece of huss to be freshly cooked. Never mind waiting, it will be nice and fresh and hot!! had it with chips. Chips ok. Took the fish and chips over to pier to sit down and enjoy one evening. I broke the fish in half and all I saw was an ouse of yellow uncooked batter, well I persume it was. Really put me off. I ended up picking about trying to get the fish out the mess to eat. I love crispy batter too. just wasnt right. Would not return there.

Our fish and chips were made to order. Batter and chips were very crispy and tasty. Definitely the best fish and chip shop in Worthing. We bought from the takeaway but you can also eat in at their restaurant.

I work with adults who have learning disabilities and have visited Café Vita three times with them. Each time the people have been very accommodating, polite and helpful. The fish and chips is always freshly cooked to order, so the batter stays crisp and the chips are never soggy. Easily the best fish and chips! It’s also reasonably priced.

So accommodating, helpful and friendly despite our numbers. They brought food out quickly provided high chairs extra plates when needed & didn’t complain when kids had a wander around this is my ideal place to eat x thank you for being so welcoming x

Was going to eat at the crab shack as had heard good reviews but on walking in there and asked to sit at a bench we declined!! Found this place and was very impressed food and service great. Prices very good. Very clean. Would def recommend.

We came today for our first visit, we weren't disappointed! I had Fish n Chips, my Wife had Scampi. Service was very quick, our food was well cooked and hot. All the staff were very friendly and polite. Tea made with proper tea leaves. A spacious restaurant with clean tables and toilets. A 5* hygiene rating. Prices are very inexpensive but good value. Recommended

Sat outside on the pavement side tables after a long walk watching the world go by. A short queue inside secured a couple of hot black americanos good and strong as I like it. Food being served looked good with lots of choice and only issue with the place were the seagulls swooping as soon as tables were vacated. Been in all the coffee shops along this part of the arcade and this is the best of the four

The Vita fish and chip shop is situated in South Street Worthing. It is a traditional fish and chip shop also selling a large range of burgers.

Had the best fish and chips I've had for a very long time. The chips were very tasty .

I popped in for a portion of chips to accompany some time on the beach. Blown away by their quality. Carefully cooked, very crispy, high quality potatoes. I hesitate to write this but I think they were the best I have ever tasted. What more can be said. Well done to those who cook and serve such high quality food-a real treat

Vita is a first stop for us whenever we visit family in Worthing. The fish and chips are delicious and great value, especially the OAP deal. My husband loves the Cadbury hot chocolate too! Friendly staff and a clean restaurant with great food. You can’t go wrong. Don’t forget the ice cream when it’s warm as well.

I am not big on fish & chips but oh boy these were superb. Not greasy but with a slight crunch with a soft middle. Once again superb.

We recently revisited vita cafe in south street worthing for a fish and chip lunch.The fish and chip meal was delicious and up to vitas usual high standard.The staff are excellent and very welcoming.Also they never let the tables being left with used plates etc as they clean the tables and remove plates etc as soon as the customer leaves.Also they do not rush the customer to finish their meal.would highly recommend this cafe to anyone visiting worthing.They also do a good range of meals.

Had the OAP fish and chip deal today - £6.50 for the meal with hot drink and bread/butter. The food was fresh and very tasty - the service was first class .

My husband and I took our 3 year old grand-daughter here last sunday. Lovely staff, the cafe was empty apart from a couple and the food was out of this world. I had battered sausage and chips, my husband had the 3/4 pounder which i tried and he said was one of the best burgers he had tasted. The chips however, were set apart from the rest. We loved the chips. best we have tasted in Worthing or Brighton.

We got fish and chips to ea5 outside on a recent visit to Worthing and were vert disappointed. The haddock was thin and tasteless, the batter was heavy and stodgy whilst the chips looked like oven chips.

There are a number of Fish & Chip shops nearby but this is always our first choice. The staff are friendly and efficient, the fish and chips are generally cooked to order so they are fresh and crisp, the portion sizes are good and it's very good value. I doubt that their Baked Beans are from Heinz but that's a very minor quibble

We were staying in Worthing for a couple of days for a concert , we tried this fish and chip cafe as it was nearer our hotel , it was so good we went twice , fresh haddock cooked fresh whist we waited, chips were excellent fluffy and freshly cooked to perfection.the staff here were very friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed the fish and chips.

The fish and chips are always delicious and good value for money the teapots are better than most and tea is always hit.

We ate with our children and grandchildren at the cafe Vita on Saturday 28th April at the recommendation of a local resident. We had a variety of meals from the menu including a child’s meal. The food was really nice, service was excellent. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Six adults and one child had meals and drinks and the bill was just over Fifty pounds. Absolute bargain, well done Cafe Vita.

Very nice food but thought it was a tad overpriced for fish and chips! Wouldn’t go just for lunch time eats

I took seven children to Cafe Vita for a birthday lunch and the staff were brilliant. They allowed me to pre-order food, were very helpful, food was lovely with good portion sizes. Highly recommend!

Me and Becky just had lunch here and was amazing quality and value. Becky had Scampi and I had Rock and we both had chips and it was gorgeous and freshly cooked. The chips were really spot on and the Rock was excellent. Becky’s only problem was there was too much food. The place was tidy and the staff were friendly. I would return later for dinner however Becky rations me on fish and chips lol

called in here a couple of times,had plaice and small chips waited 6 to 7 mins,lovely and fresh,staff very pleasant establishment clean,price very good,will recommend and will go back..

Whilst in Worthing on Saturday we went to cafe vita for our fish and chip lunch.we arrived about 12-30pm and was surprised how busy they were at this time although it is the holiday season.we had our seniors special which was cod and chips plus bread and butter and a mug of tea all for £6.50p each which is great value.The portion is adequate and the fish and chips were up to their usual high standard which considering how busy they were says a lot about the cooking.the staff were their usual politeness.All in all another very pleasant visit.highly recommended.

To avoid the crowds the family visited, the Cafe Vita, early evening for fish and chips. We enjoyed good service and comfortable seating inside the cafe. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The food and drinks menu gives plenty of choice for all ages and tastes.

We were looking for a fish and chip shop in Worthing and came accross this one. The food smelt very nice from the outside so we chose to have 2 lots of fish and chips and 1 lot of sausage and chips to eat in. We also had 2 cups of tea and a milkshake.The food came quickly. The mushy peas were missing despite being ordered and the young man who I think needed to learn how to smile went to get it. He then came out flapping our receipt in our face exclaiming we hadn't paid for them! Fair enough, of course we would pay but no need to be so rude. Some customer service training needed there. The food was fantastic, especially the batter and the chips. The less said about the tea (if you could call it that) the better. It tasted like hot water. The milkshake was very nice. The young lady who came to clear the table was lovely. So all in all, a mixed bag. I would reccomend a visit based on how good the food was, but would most likely choose takeaway next time.

Always dubious of restaurants on the sea front as they remind me of some I have been into in the past. We walked past and saw some one eating fish and chips and they looked amazing. Next night we went there for dinner. We ate inside and the chips were proper old fashioned cut. The fish was fresh and the even sold beer. We had a great family meal and really enjoyed it.Would recommend

We come here every time we are here on holiday and it never disappoints, easily the best Fish and Chips and the service is fast, friendly and efficient.

Chips full of eyes, badly peeled. Service good but food greasy. Omelette with cheap frozen sausages and milk shake and hot chocolate very overpriced. Would not recommend and won't be going back. Fish & chips, omelette, milk shake and chocolate over £22. . Food was hot though.

It's refreshing to be served by people who seem pleased to be doing their job. Food is quickly and efficiently brought to the table, and staff remember who has e.g. ordered coffee to follow on after the meal. The fish and chips are nice, and the prices are reasonable, especially the special deal for OAPs.

Popped in for a breakfast and everything taste like they've cooked it all in old chip oil that needs replacing, no flavour what so ever apart from chip oil, total waste of money, not to mention how over priced it is for what you get.

I went with my family to vita to have a breakfast so we ordered omelettes and we chose the filling cheese tomatoes and mushrooms and it come either with chips or salad . It was just perfect we did enjoy our time in there before heading to the pier. And the staff were so helpful and friendly.

Our daughter lives in Worthing and we always come here for lunch. The food is so fresh and tasty, just beautiful and the ice creams are delicious too, and I'm not an ice cream fan. Go there, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Have been here several times and tried all the fish dishes and every time its always good and hot they cook to order and its always busy so tells you how good it always is and the chips are the best

Found a breakfast but it was below average. Cheap ingredients including margarine on the toast!! It's not 1980! Quick service is the only positive I can give you.

Read the reviews so made this a must visit place to eat. Not disappointed. Staff friendly and food was cooked to order, not been sitting under heat in the take out area. Also good value. We were there mid-afternoon in January and there were still a lot of people coming in to eat.

This is our go to spot when we visit from Canada, my in-laws introduced us to it and we visit multiple times during our visit. The staff is very friendly and the food, as you can see from my pictures was very nice. I have made a point of going in just to say hello even if we are not stopping for a bite, and always greeted with a hello and a big smile from the "big guy". Now onto the food, the portions are a big size and well worth the money, fish and chips are fantastic and I can't say enough about the Cadbury's Hot Chocolate with the Flake sticking out of the thick whipped cream. There are many places within Worthing to eat but you won't get the same attention you get from Vita, we will continue to stop in to say hi our to eat on every vacation.

A group of us went here for fish and chip lunch. It had been pre- booked. The staff were efficient and polite. The fish and chips were well cooked and tasty.

Arrived around 2 pm on a weekday. ordered rock and chips and took my number flag to a table.The waiter served my fish and chips from a tray. He thought it would be acceptable to use his fingers to pick up a fallen chip to put on my late. I declined.Sadly I was in a hurry and could n"t spare the time arguing about the driest oldest bit of fish I be ever been served in all my 40 odd years. The manager had disappeared and only junior staff were available ​ and with no spare time I ​had no time argue the toss. I left the food - inedible.I would only go back again if I​ ​knew my fish was cooked to order. Or more likely go ​ somewhere ( ​anywhere ​ ) ​else . ​I​t is expensive and nowhere near delivers any value with any professionalism. Unhappy experience.

Came for fish and chips with my mom. Had a great time, there were busy but a bit too hot in the caffe maybe they should look at a air-conditioner but still had a great time, great staff and good food. Ice coffee was amazing never had it that way with a ice-cream ball on top a great idea best of both worlds Great choices will be returning.

Went into this cafe today for fish and chips. They were well cooked, tasty and the service was top class.I shall recommend anyone going to Worthing to have fish and chips at this venue.The staff and helpful and polite and it was truly a pleasure being in this cafe forsuch a lovely meal.

Just had a weekend in Worthing and ate here for dinner one evening and breakfast next morning. Very good food on both occasions and reasonably priced. Service good, order at till and they bring to table, didn't have to wait long either although they weren't busy as it wasn't really normal meal times. Probably the best cup of tea I've had in a while as its made with proper tea. Very clean throughout, would recommend this place and would use again on any return visit to Worthing.

I came here with my family; the food was quick to come and service was quick. Everyone in the restaurant was lovely and willing to help with any request you had. I really enjoyed my food here, we all ordered fish and chips which were lovely! Fish was fresh and really tasty. Would definitely come back again!

Stopped for a quick impromptu lunch while shopping in town. As soon as we sat down it started to rain, so we moved indoors. At least we got a window seat ;-)I opted for a small cod and chips which was very tasty and considering it was a 'small' serving, it was a very generous portion. The burger and chips went down well with the Mrs, and our son devoured the scampi and chips in no time. Of course he finished off with a delicious home-made strawberry ice cream!The service was very quick and friendly too. We can't recommend this place enough. We might have to get an annual season ticket soon ;-)

Eat at Vita today, at lunch time. Ordered Cod and chips and one cod. We were told it would be a few minutes. And it was. It was well worth the wait. Piping hot, no skin on fish. We ate sitting inside as all outside tables were full. Staff were very friendly and happy.

This was not my first visit to Vita, nor will it be my last. Open 7 days a week and close to the centre of the town just a few yards off the sea front and very close to Worthing Pier, it offers a decent menu including fish & chips of course ), great ice-creams, take-aways, coffee, kids menu, etc. etc. Staff are always polite, prompt & friendly and why not? the food they serve is great! Perhaps because they offer reduced prices on Fridays, it was very popular with senior citizens but still no problem to find a table. I haven't found a better restaurant of it's type in West Sussex.

Vita a great fish & chip stop on the Worthing seafront, it does more than just fish so have a good look at the menu, so being on the seafront walking the smell of fish and chips with salt and vinegar just says everything that is the British seaside.Lovely and clean, good staff and excellent fish and chips at a great price, large cod and chips with a pot of tea(3cups) £9.00 and worth every penny, Mrs had haddock and chips with coffee around the same price piping hot and good and lots of it, most definitely returning to the cafe Vita.

Visited again with friends after recommending it to them ,and not let down excellent fish and chips served with a smile.....just can't beat this place

We travelled to Worthing for the day, our first time, we are a family of 2 adults and 3 children. We wanted to have a nice lunch near to the pier, and Café Vita was an excellent find.We had a child's meal, a large fish & chips, an all day breakfast, a scampi & chips and a battered sausage and chips. All the food was excellent, cooked perfectly, tasted great. Drinks were fairly priced and the staff attentive and polite. We noted that they also serve ice creams and shakes, all available as take away or eat in. We recommend Cafe Vita!

We have been here a number of times over the years and always had a good meal. Yesterday's meal was outstanding, the freshest white fish and sublime chips, crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Served with a beautiful cuppa and delicious ice cream, ginger, pistachio and Turkish delight. A wonderful restaurant, can't wait until our next trip to Worthing.

After walking the beach and pier there is something comforting to sit and eat a plate of fish and chips, and the fish and chips at Café Vita are about as good as they get.We found the service to be fast and friendly. The pricing at Café Vita is budget friendly. The location is across from the beach.The dining room, while a little old fashioned, was clean and comfortable.

Usually always eat from here as chips are delicious when fresh, but this time they were clearly re-heated/re-cooked and unpleasant. Chicken nuggets inedible as stale and overdone. Fish batter was also wet and poor fish quality. Would avoid during quieter times as seems they don't cook food fresh when there is less demand.

From the outside looks like the usual run of the mill...don`t be put off. The have lovely dishes of curry, chilli,macaroni cheese and baked potatoes besides fish and chips. They are freshly prepared and taste great not greasy. Only drawback was pie chips and gravy it was lumpy. Very good loo facilites for disabled.

Ok so Summer is not quite here yet, but last weekend we decided to take a walk along the pier and enjoy our favourite (fish and chips) while we were there.Just for a change I had the Cod (rather than my favourite Huss). It was great - soft flaky fish, nice crispy batter. Just the job ;-)As always, the service and the food from Café Vita were excellent, we really can't recommend them enough.

Came to Cafe Vita on 8 of May in evening with my family for take away. It was empty to compare to other nearest take aways, till we get served was waiting about 10 minutes to someone came to ask what we want, staff were walking in and out somewhere wasn't intresting if they have any customers waiting. Ok..we made our order it was only us waiting for it about 30 min, what the fish you are cooking that takes 30 min, hello? Very upsetting, us children were hungry. The girl who served us wasn't polite, didn't explained if we need anything extra, just left the boxes on the bar and walked away!!! Horrible experience..

As an incredibly picky person when it comes to chips - this place did not disappoint. Don't go anywhere else! The chips are fluffy, fresh and just beautiful. We were so happy we went there, it's 30 seconds away from the seafront too

Come to order fish and chips on lovely sunday evening. 08/ 05 / 2016 (19.00h.) Was no queue at all at take away area . A girl on the till sad it will be ready in 2 minutes, after that half of personal disappeared , left only chef to cook. So I was awating for 20 minutes till I was served. A same girl put a fish and chips in the box , but before asked me which order was mine . All I see on there order list is only 2 order tickets. (Not a lot to remember). I sad which one it was , after that she just throw a box on the bar like she been serving a dogs . Even do not ask me would I like any salt or vinegar on top , even do not close a box itself. I was so upset , never seen service like that at any 'take aways' in Worthing or around. Only reason I walk in at Cafe Vita , cose my favorite Ocean fish and chips nearby was fully full. It was my first and last visit at Cafe Vita. Not recomended to any one been treated like a dog . Poor customer service at the till in take away area. If you anyway will visit that place DO NOT trust a stuff , that fish will be ready in 2 minutes.

We visited a couple of days ago. We wanted somewhere that served good quality food at fair prices and this is exactly what we got. My children really enjoyed their meals. My husband loves his pie and my fish and chips was delicious. We don't live near Worthing but visit family there and won't hesitate to go again when we're down next.

This café is conveniently situated almost on the seafront overlooking Worthing Pier and the promenade and is perfect to stop off at during a busy shopping day. On going in, my first impression was that it was a bit dark and dreary and it certainly has an old-fashioned feel about the 'plaice' (sorry!), slightly reminiscent of the old 'Joe Lyons' cafés (if you're old enough to remember them!). However, it was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Food is ordered at the counter and brought to your table. I ordered cod & chips and my daughter-in-law chose the scampi and both were served piping hot after a very short wait. They were PROPER chips, i.e. golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.....a treat after the limp, soggy specimens you quite often get in other places. The batter on my fish was thin and crispy but the fish, although boneless and white, was disappointingly lacking in flavour.....probably no-one's fault, just one of those things. The scampi was 'good', apparently! This café is clearly popular with families and I did notice a high-chair near the counter so they clearly cater for babies too. There is further seating available on the first floor for peak seasons and there are toilets at the rear of the seating area downstairs - the ladies' loo doubles up as a disabled loo (plenty of room) and a baby-changing area and is also old-fashioned but lovely and clean. There is also a 'take-away' option next door and there is outside seating (not recommended on a windy day!)

Having visited Vita several times in the past, we decided to book lunch for our son's 7th birthday. 10 very energetic children and 4 slightly frazzled adults were all very well looked after ;-)We had a small area upstairs in the restaurant all to ourselves which was ideal. The food was really good and the service was great - but no surprise there as it always is!We would like to thank everybody at Vita for going the extra mile and making our day.

We visited this cafe yesterday(always go there when in Worthing) to have our usual fish and chip lunch.The waitress,s are always very pleasant and the quality of the fish and chips are excellent.They also do a special price for OAPs currently £5.75 for portion of cod and chips plus round of bread and butter plus normal size cup of tea or coffee!!Excellent value.This cafe very clean and very popular and only a few yards from Worthing pier.well worth a visit.They also do other meals as well.

Family fish and chips lunch for 7 of us just before xmas. Good speedy service, lovely well cooked food, no hassles. We regularly come here and haven't had any issues at all with anything.

If you are looking for a fancy restaurant, this isn't for you. If you are looking for excellent seaside fish and chips, this plaice is the best fry in town. We always go to Vita's when in Worthing. We have always found the new owners to be courteous and helpful, especially if you have a disability. They also do pensioners lunches, just as good and at an affordable price. If fish is not your taste, then they have the usual brunch dishes.

Despite the miserable weather and the parade being cancelled, we braved the fireworks on Worthing beach. Once again, Cafe Vita did not let us down - the gorgeous fish and chips and warming coffee made the evening all the more enjoyable. Keep up the good work!
