Superb service and such a friendly and helpful welcome. Coffee was great too. I needed to make a zoom call and they reserved the small room for me, and kept me well served with coffee and cake.

Unexpected find in this charming and friendly small town. Just needed a good cup of coffee and we found it, possibly the best cup for a long time, perfectly served. Must return soon to try to the very appetising cakes and buns. By the way, you don't need to have a bike to visit, although many of the happy customers had one.

Took the bike here for a service after enthusiastic co-riders had managed to destroy the head set on a ride to Paris! Was fixed swiftly with no fuss and a full degrease service. The flat white and walnut cake are superb as is the overall friendly and helpful team. Will now be a regular mid ride stop and official LBS - thank you!

Couldn't see how to reply to your comment on my review, so writing another. It was a weekend we went there, we were told "We're just closing for lunch, come back at 3", so I said "Oh right no problem, we'll go for a walk and come back for 3 then?", to which they gave no reply and just sort of stared vacantly at us.I had read the reviews and they are all lovely, that's why we thought we'd stop there for cake and coffee. We still had a lovely day, there must've been some confusion along the way. No problem, just thought it was a little strange.

This review is by no means relevent to the coffee or cakes here, as we read that this was a nice cafe for that. But we arrived here at half two, a member of staff told us to come back at 3 as they were closing for lunch. So we said 'yeah no problem we'll come back in half hour then'. The staff member then said nothing, and just looked at us with squinted eyes till we left the cafe, we had a little walk around the corner to a pretty church to kill time, then came back at 5 past 3 to find the place closed still, so we thought 'no problem we will come back in another half hour'. But when we went back again the place was closed, with the chairs tilted and the lights off (clearly definitely closed).I don't have a problem with the place. The coffee and cakes might be lovely, but I'm just confused as to why we were told to come back later, only to find it closed. We would've happily found somewhere else for a coffee if they were closing, so I don't understand why we were told to come back?

Our usual coffee shop stop in the middle of the town seemed to have closed down so my friend and I called in here during one of our bike rides. We would have preferred a sandwich with coffee but we were told 'this was a cycling stop cafe' so no sandwiches.....but instead high energy fatty cakes, chocs, biscuit type things and bara brith type stuff etc. All sorts of soft drinks available and coffees etc Excellent tasting americano coffee as well which we both had. So we put sandwiches to the back of our minds and had their 'tea cakes' which were very nice indeed. Will call again.

Passionate about coffee? Head to Cafe Velo, a slither of a cafe on a small street in Llantwit . The cakes though, wow ... you need to go just for the cakes, for those with a sweet tooth, a slice of homemade carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting or chocolate brownie should do the trick (there were a huge range of Gluten-free option swell such as peanut butter cookies and flapjacks all home-made). Cafe Velo stands on its own merits and you don't have to be a cyclist to appreciate the cakes but you can eat more without putting on weight! I have always had the Lemon Drizzle or bara- brith and they are good as is the coffee. I have visited Cafe Velo on a number of occasions and have had an excellent experience each time. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. If you are a cyclist there is the added bonus of being able to watch old and live cycling events on the big screen while you enjoy your espresso !! Chapeau

Happened to be passing through the little village when we decided to stop for a drink and cake. This little cafe was well situated as it was just around the corner from the car park to which we were parked in. We were warmly welcomed by a young gentlemen who I believed was the owner, who engaged us in conversation. We ordered cakes and drinks, all reasonably priced and delicious, with the cakes being homemade. If I'm ever passing again I would most definitely return and recommend it to anyone.

Most Wednesday's my friends and I meet at cafe velo, for coffee and toast and a good old chin wag, the owner has now become a good friend and always without fail makes us feel welcome, it is a popular place with cyclists and mum alike, the coffee is great and a second cup is often called for. If you find yourself in Llantwit major make this a must have stop off.

I have reviewed Cafe Velo before (more than a year ago) after many visits, but simply because of changes in our cycling routine, my partner and I have not been back for several months. Last weekend however we decided to revisit our circuit of the Vale incorporating a coffee stop at Llantwit Major. As always, we received a friendly welcome from David the proprietor and very much enjoyed the excellent coffee. (We can particularly recommend the toasted fruit loaf also). As this cafe ,together with the adjoining cycle shop (Forza cycles), forms a well established hub for the broader cycling community it is popular as a meeting point for people who enjoy racing, endurance cycling or simply leisure pootling. It clearly is also deservedly popular with the broader public.Aside from their own cycling strip they now also have a range of good quality promotional items of table ware for sale, neatly branded with their distinctive blue door motif. A nice touch. We will continue to return.

Cefe Velo is turning into a must visit cafe for cyclists passing through Llantwit Major. In fact, it's becoming a destination in its own right for cyclists. The cafe isn't just for cyclists though and discerning cake and coffee lovers have sniffed out what a lovely, warm place this is. The cakes are delicious and the portion size is perfect, especially if you have cycled a few miles to work up an appetite. Both my daughters love the hot chocolate. The only disappointing thing is that all the cakes used to have cycling related names, but non-cyclists found this confusing! Oh well, the food is lovely, the welcome is warm and the coffee is good.

By now I must have been to the Cafe Velo at least 10 times and have yet to post anything on Trip Advisor. To redress this I can say that this cafe has been a great "find" for me this year. As a keen cyclist, together with my partner, I ride several routes around the Vale of Glamorgan almost every weekend. The village of Llantwit Major lies on several of the coastal options and Cafe Velo sits in a perfect location on the old square adjacent to Forsa Cycles and opposite two of the noted old pubs in the locality.David, the proprietor is a keen cyclist and and therefore knows exactly what his customers are looking for. The coffee is of a high standard, the variety of cakes and other food on offer is excellent and the service is extremely friendly and efficient. There is an abundance of cycling literature to hand if you fancy reading rather than chattting, but the ambience is always very friendly whether it is quiet or busy. (The cafe is clearly also popular with tourists, locals, and students from the nearby Atlantic College) The proximity to the bike shop is an added bonus of course.

I live in Llantwit Major but until my son who cycles regularly told me about it had never thought to go as assumed it was just for cyclists. Super coffee and delicious teacakes. Llantwit Major is always well worth a visit. Set on the coast (nearly) in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan. This small medieval town has an early Christian settlement now a fascinating church. Lots of pubs. Small shopping centre. Trains to and from Cardiff. One of the latest additions is the Velo Cafe between the old Town Hall and the church. Small, simple - in the best sense of the word - new, uncluttered - upstairs seating too. You will find cyclists here at times as the name suggests but they are invariably pleasant and civilised. As it is so small the menu is limited to good coffee and tea and a range of the most delicious (and huge) slices of cake. Highly recommended.

Lunch At Twelve catered at our wedding on 12th July 2024 and I could not recommend them more. Neil and Delyth were brilliant in the run up to the wedding, with constant and clear communication. Every challenge we had they calmly found a solution and kept both myself an my partner at ease. They had to cater for over 20 different dietary requirements at a venue they'd never catered at before but still provided amazing food all round. They also went out of their way to make sure that myself and my husband had opportunities to eat throughout the day so we didn't miss any of the canopies and meals. They also made alternative vegetarian canopies for myself even though I told them that they don't need to do this. They really exceeded any expectations for caterers that we had and delivered the most amazing food! Ruby & Joe
