Cafe V in East Riding of Yorkshire

We would normally have gone to nearby Wetherspoons for breakfast but it was closed so we headed to Cafe V as it is number one on Trip Advisor. OK, it was our first time there so we didn't really know about the standard operating procedure. There were menus on the table so we took a seat, perused the menus and waited ...and waited ...and waited. Finally got up to where they were taking take-away orders and tried to place an order but were told to go back and someone would come to you (which they did). Anyway, moving on. The light breakfast was small but looked even smaller on the large plate it was served. Toast came on a separate large plate. I think it would have been visually more appealing to have had it all on the same plate. Food was tasty enough although the bacon was rather tasteless. Everything was hot (including the drinks). A bit on the pricey side and, all things considered, although we would go back, we won't be in a hurry to do so.

On a cool but sunny Sunday morning Cafe V was doing a roaring trade with lots of customers inside and also at the tables outside. It was lovely inside with lots of tables for two and nicely decorated with a variety of artwork. So much choice in the cake cabinets! My husband had a slice of what has to be the largest custard ever made!😹 In theory I wasn’t having any cake myself but I ended up helping my husband to eat his custard… Pleasant and efficient staff; will be back!

Ordered 2 breakfasts, eggs cooked as requested, food was hot and of fair quality. A much better experience than we have had in past ( food was cold)

Food good quality but fried eggs not uncooked on top,generally the food not hot enough, there was loud discussion of staff personal life resulting in slow service. Would benefit from decent salt,pepper dispensers , Would eat there again if food was hot ,eggs where cooked,our experience on Sunday 6th April 10 am

Very nice cafe. Great table service, very nice staff. Took care of our dog as well as our food and drink orders. The food was freshly prepared and tasty. There was some outdoor seating that was nice in the sun. Just out of the main square so felt a bit quieter but with easy access.

Lunchtime party of 10, we were made welcome by the lovely staff members. Food was really tasty, cooked to order and served so everyone could eat together. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in here about a week ago with a big ask my dissabled wife needed food but it has to be blended ..they wen out of there way to help even Been super busy The waitress brought the food out with a fork for us they were so lovely Jill very much enjoyed her meal Ps..we did have food ready but for some reason we still haven't got to bottom of someone took it out of the wheel chair pack at the home ???...can not recommend the cafe and staff enough !!

Passed this place many times, 1st time today! Won't be the last. Clean, bright, great menu, lite bites and more. Great coffee, home made cakes. Great friendly ambience. Friendly, warm...Yes well deserved 5 stars. Thank you, credit to the Catring Industry!

For me, this is the place to go and have a lovely English Breakfast with a capital B, since here, breakfast is cooked marvellously well, like I imagine it would be done at home on a Sunday morning, with top ingredients and gentle cooking to preserve taste and make you want more! Food is not fat or cooked in fat or grease, which is good for digestion too. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Friendly service, tasty home cooked lunch. We enjoyed lunch on a Monday which was not too busy. Loved the Yorkshire pudding roast beef wrap with mash and gravy. My husband had a jacket potato and was happy with his meal too. We have popped in previously for coffee and cake too.

Post wedding party breakfast for eleven of us. Staff struggled a bit with the party size and not all the food came at the same time but it was delicious and all the plates were cleared. Can recommend the porridge

We visited Sunday 29th a party of 9 of us descended into cafe v. After sitting down and having a chat we were greeted by the waitress who very patiently took our orders and made sure everything was correct on order with multiple addings on she’s an absolute credit to the cafe. We had all sorts from breakfast hash to an awesome looking egg dish. Majority had the Yorkshire breakfast and everything was perfect really couldn’t fault anything. 5* food and service all in all a very happy group left full ready for the travel back to Merseyside.

Nice people and they have a great selection of breakfasts.

Located very close to St Mary’s church. We called in for lunch because the cafe seemed really busy and the food being eaten by those sat outside looked good. Extensive menu, friendly staff, good vfm, tasty good, generous portions. Very clean toilets too. We had a bacon and Brie baguette and a jacket potato with very good coronation chicken. Both meals were good. We did have to wait for a few minutes for the food to arrive because it was all made fresh. Side salads and coleslaw were tasty too. We received a warm welcome, despite the sign 😂😂 (see pics). Highly recommended when in the area.

Couldn’t have asked for better service, they immediately brought a water bowl for the dog, they was speedy and when we had our breakfast we were able to get a ‘dog sausage’ which was just an cooked down version of a regular sausage. We felt very welcome and would highly recommend :)

Popped in for a cool drink and then saw the cake stand... slices of Biscoff cake, coffee cake and chocolate sponge were soon ordered along with smoothies and chocolate shakes. Good sized portions, friendly staff and great value for money.

Cafe V has grown significantly in size from the little corner cafe it was! A team of young staff who were very professional. Had coffee and a scone. The coffee is excellent and the scones were nice. Other food served elsewhere looked very nice and tempting? Maybe next time! 🤔

Just a regular coffee shop. Same coffee you could order anywhere else. Not sure where the amazing reviews come from, but this is just your regular local corner coffee shop. I was looking for a specialty coffee shop, and this is far from it. On the other hand, the people are quite nice, and despite being quite small, it wasn’t full when we arrived.

Had a smashing breakfast this morning with a mate, we sat outside to enjoy what little sun there was, the service was brilliant as someone came out straight away and took our order, the food was top notch, tasty and plenty of it. Can't fault it at all, I will be back for more.

We had a little pitstop to Beverley before our long journey home... stopped at café v and couldn't wish for a better place!! Service was spot on... straight away bought our dog fresh water for her. Breakfast was lush... sausage and bacon was so delicious 😋. Proper Yorkshire tea in a teapot 🫖 then finished off with the most fabulous couple of pieces of cake 🍰 wonderful all round...staff so friendly and relaxed atmosphere 🥰

We visit reasonably often, usually after an early morning walk but mainly because the team and food are wonderful. They are somehow able to retain the family business feel. The camaraderie between the team comes across in how they deal with their customers and the casual banter between them is lovely. A way to describe the service is perhaps "professional family" as that is what comes across. From breakfast to drop in coffee and a snack, we've never had a meal that we've not enjoyed. Only once have I dropped my guard in having one of their cakes. It was so wonderful, I daren't even look at the others for the fear of wanting a slice of them all. Whatever magic the management weaves with their team, their customers benefit. Hats off

Visited before we set off on our Bike ride and had all good intentions to have some cake until we saw the Bacon cobs coming out the kitchen, excellent quality with great service and reasonable prices. What’s not to like we even came back on our return for that cake!

Wonderfully friendly, welcoming staff in this centrally located Beverley café. Very clean. Right adjacent to Saturday Market, so with its big windows proffering a grandstand view of all the motorbikes arriving for the Dave Myers Memorial Ride, it was perfect. Reasonably priced. Big toasted teacake. Big plus is it is open early on a Sunday morning before all the other cafés, so they get my vote and trade. Shall happily return and recommend too.

First visit today, a bit of a mixed experience to be honest! Upon arrival we found a table no problem and awaited table service as advised. After about 20mins of waiting we enquired as to waiting times and our order was taken shortly after. Beautiful coffee with quick service (after order was placed!) however one of our lunch items was wrong. We do believe that maybe we were here on an off-day as both the drinks and food couldn't be faulted. Staff were lovely and we really appreciated the complimentary drinks to apologise for the minor issues. 100% would return as overall it was a great lunch spot, however couldn't ignore slight issues

Good quality food but delay in receiving it - took almost 30 mins to receive omlette,side salad and coleslaw. Café wasn't too busy either

Visited on a Saturday morning for breakfast with family. 2 had the small breakfast, 1 had poached eggs on toast and 1 had a bacon n mushroom bap....everyone was delighted with what they had. Great service and great food, as always.

Lovely cafe and pleasant staff..The usual sandwiches ,toasties and jacket potatoes. Everyone's meals looked lovely and there were some mouthwatering chunky scones on the counter.My soup was nice ...but... such a tiny portion.A large bowl and only a quarter full.Hopefully next time I go in someone will have taken notice of this post..

Ordered food to take out for 20 people. Exceptional food. Safely packaged. Wonderful presentation and absolutely delicious. Couldn't rate atmosphere on this occasion.

I called into this lovely little cafe only two minutes from Beverley bus station. I had an americano coffee and a bacon and sausage sandwich in a bread bun. The coffee was fantastic and the sandwich was superb well cooked and well served.

Dropped in for brunch yesterday, very pleasant. Warm welcome. Lovely food. We will be back!.

1st visit to Cafe V and will not be the last. Food delicious. Full English. I had scrambled egg, mushrooms all with gluten free brown bread. Excellent portion size. Yorkshire tea. and hot chocolate made with real flakes, so smooth. yum! Thank you team of servers all with smiles .

Run by great people with friendly staff, warm, clean & comfortable. ‘Oooo, this is real ham’ from my 9year old niece when her Yorkshire Ham sandwich arrived. She loved the soft bread too! Eyed up the stunning looking homemade cake for next time. Fab coffee. Thank you 😊

Popped in for coffee and cake and became immediately aware that the place was more food orientated than a relaxed establishment to have a hot drink and something sweet. After asking if they had any Vegan cake options we were told quite abruptly that they didn't have time to make any so with that in mind we didn't have the time to stay. From past experience in the catering trade it's those two person £12-£15 quick turnarounds that account for a bigger part of the profits but manners cost nothing at the end of the day

Not as good as some of the reviews make out. Over priced for what we got (pie, chips with peas) Pie was cold in the middle, so made them aware. Took the plate away, scraped pie off to heat up again and then just brought back with "enjoy". No apologies!! Must have had people walk out without paying as the card machine was brought to our table before the drinks were. Don't usually write reviews but made a special trip to try this cafe based on some of the reviews we read.

Being fairly new to Beverley, this cafe was a lovely little find. I popped in this morning with my toddler and we had an English breakfast and some toast. The food was lovely and I would definitely have the breakfast again. The staff were super friendly and accommodating and I love how they all seem to know a lot of the other customers by name! It's a cosy and friendly little cafe and great value for money. I'll definitely be sure to visit again! It's also quite handy being so close to the bus station, so if you have to wait a while for a bus, it's a good place to pass the time.

Had to return chips as they were undercooked, When meal returned all they had done was stick it under the grill to brown the tops with the underside chips still white. Very disappointing and won’t be returning.

Had a takeaway parsnip soup, delicious soup with warm baguette and butter,🙂

Great little cafe. Had the eggs Benedict and was to a very high standard. Food was hot, tea was hot and the service was excellent. Lot of locals in the cafe which is a good sign. Friendly atmosphere also. Would definitely visit again.

On a return visit to Beverley, I was very pleased to avail myself of Cafe V's delicious cappuccino and fruit scone. Once again friendly and efficient service with a choice of seats inside and out. Thank you.

I always appreciate a café that serves breakfast and actually opens at breakfast time. This is a great example. While other places are still asleep the happy staff were welcoming locals and visitors. I had a good sausage bap and coffee and was in my way by 8.45.

Just dropped by for coffees (black Americanos) which were nothing to write home about. We sat outside by the road in the early morning sun which was pleasant enough though its not Beverley's most scenic street.

3 of us ate breakfast here whilst visiting for a race day at the local course. The 2 ladies in the cafe were fantastic and chatty at 8.20 in the morning. The full English and the veggie breakfast were beautifully cooked. Good quality products used with really tasty bacon and sausages used and the poached eggs were perfectly soft. Lovely spot for breakfast both inside or outside on a sunny day. Great start to our day.

We called in for lunch on a quick trip to Beverley. The staff were very helpful, the food was lovely. There was gluten free bread and cakes.

We like this cafe so much we ate our lunch here both going to and returning from the coast within a matter of days. The two of us enjoyed four different meals, and each one was well-priced and tasty. The staff are lovely, and we were particularly pleased to see their attentiveness to a fellow customer who needed to eat gluten-free. Thank you once again, and we look forward to enjoying your hospitality again in the future.

First time to the area and an interesting cafe. I assume the prices reflect the area. Two of us entered and the orders taken separately. I would of appreciated, as it was separate orders, that we was both given a teapot each and not have to share. Certain reasons for wishing that had happened. Why was we even asked if paying together, two orders, two bills.

I've had lunch here twice and coffee and cake once and each time it has been lovely. The coffee here, (i ask for the double shot flat white) is very good. Service is very friendly too. Would definitely recommend Cafe V!

Small cafe, was very busy at the time afternoon 1430. Staff were busy a little noisy but service acceptable.

Swift and smiley service. Quick omelette and latte were spot on whilst awaiting the bus.
