The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. It has an outside play area for children and views to the sea. It also has a good shop and parking is easy when you have arrived up a narrow tarmac road.

Cafe Thyme is a smart, modern cafe at the Old Byre centre. As well as soups, imaginative salads, burgers and a good selection of Turkish pide they also serve very good home baking to have with your tea or coffee. And certainly worth a mention is the panoramic window with fabulous views to the sea and Kintyre beyond.

My wife and I called in just for a pot of tea. We were so impressed, we popped back a couple of days later for lunch. As before, we received a very friendly greeting by the staff and our order was taken very quickly. The food arrived freshly cooked, well presented and tasteful. We both remarked how nice it was to be given proper chips, as opposed to the "usual" frozen ones.

15/09/2019: Fantastic place to eat in Lochranza located next to golf course.
13/09/2019: Had a lovely meal here. A small, cosy place with a nice atmosphere. Attentive service and lovely food. A great vegetarian choice too. You will need to book in advance, even for during the week.

11/12/2019: With our friends we had not visited here for a few years, but decided to book for a Sunday lunch prior to Xmas. As it happens the only day we could get was the first one in December as they were fully booked. After our visit I can understand. It has always been exceptional before and happy to see that the standards have not dropped, from nice atmosphere to superb food, friendly staff, and for the quality the cost is not over the top for a Michelin star establishment. Keeping the star rating for so many years is hard work, but they do it! As is our custom we always appear to be last out, but Nicola still took time to have a chat with us. Decision made, that we will not leave too long for next visit!
27/09/2019: A belated Christmas gift which we got around to in September. Food was FANTASTIC as always. Best food in ayrshire by far. You need to give it a go but beware you need to book well in advance especially for Fiday & Saturdays. Service is excellent as well.
