Cafe Tarifa in Oxford

Prefer not to give my money to anti-LTN propagandists. Perhaps it's time for Florence to have a chat with dad about what the climate crisis is? Squeeze it in between flights, maybe?

Nice bar but unfortunately it has lost its charm over recent years. Drinks are nice but expensive.

Great venue for events. Some of the info on the website doesn't match some of their promotions so might be worth double checking before booking. But other than that, amazing atmosphere, great cocktails and friendly bar staff.

Tarifa used to be the best place to get cocktails on the Cowley Road, now their cocktail menu has shrunk, the cocktails are not as tasty as they used to be and the staff don't seem to have the knowledge about cocktails that Tarifa previously prided itself on. The free pizza deal seems to draw in the students, so it is always busy, but it doesn't have the same vibe it used to.

Great ambiance and the crowd were quite laid back.

Everyone has to come to Tarifa, it's a great wibe place with lovely garden with palms, free pizza with a drink and nice staff. It's a must go to on Cowley Road!

Potentially my absolute favourite bar in oxford. Staff are awesome and actually seem to care about their jobs. One of the managers took our booking and did a fabulous job on preparing for it and made sure we had the best night! Absolutely recommend!! And drinks and very reasonable too! Will come back again and again!

Cafe terifa located at Cawley road this is a very well decorated with candles atmosphere they serve cocktails and light snacks and 3 courses of food Some evening the Spanish or Brazilian jazz and other musical live event been the attraction of the cafee Tariffs frequently visited as very good atmosphere they serve all coffee or and other drinks as main service are cocktails

Es difícil de catalogar, porque tiene altos muy altos y bajos muy bajos. La ambientación es de las mejores del barrio, sobre todo en verano. Buena terraza, la decoración es muy bonita y en general la música es buenísima. Si busca un lugar con "onda" este es un buen bar. Si quiere cerveza olvídelo, sólo tienen española (PÉSIMA). El resto de los tragos anda bien, pero siguiendo la moda local les ponen muy poco alcohol y mucho mucho hielo. El precio es excesivo. Diría que es un buen lugar para ir a pasar un buen rato y pedirse una jarra de sangría.

They have a big poster advertising that they offer a pizza to any drink bought between Sunday and Thursday. Unfortunately it is not true. When I asked if we can have 2 beers for free for a table of 10 people where each bought one or two drinks and each was counting to have a piece of pizza, manager said that NO. Otherwise it is super expensive, the worst Spanish beer worthy 1€/liter in Spain costs £8 in Cafe Tarifa. If you want to have a beer better go somewhere else as here you could only find a few, not the best quality, Spanish beers.

Me and a group of friends went to Cafe Tarifa last Saturday (16/2/19), one of my friends is partially sighted and needs a guide dog. Upon entering and getting drinks, the manager at the time asked us to leave due to having a dog. We explained is a guide dog, to which she responded, if you don’t leave I will call the police. Fortunately my friend knows his rights and refused to leave, but it did leave him very disappointed and stressed. Staff should be trained and educated, especially the manager, that guide dogs are allowed into such establishments, the refusal to do so would be taking away his rights that are protected by the equality act 2010. The whole situation could have been handled better if she had some customer service skills. All in all very dissatisfied with the customer service and attitude of the manager. Will not be returning.

This evening a women who worked at tarriffa accused me and my friend who are very anti drugs of snorting cocaine in the toilets. It was horrible to be accused of something I did not do. The woman was blonde with shortish hair with a grey t shirt, a very aggressive memeber of staff. A good atmosphere, but such a shame about the horrible and aggressive staff members. My friend and I are very upset about what happened this evening, a horrible experience.

We went to Tarifa on NYE and the staff were great, really friendly....to the point where I had glitter applied to my face when I admired the bar staff's face art :) We had some lovely cocktails - particularly like the Gin Garden.

Had Christmas dinner. Food was great and the service was prompt for their private room.

Really disappointed. Booked a staff Christmas party for 15 people 3 weeks before we were due to go. We got here and there were 2 small tables. We managed to squeeze 8 people around them but no one else could fit. When deciding on booking somewhere, we looked at menus and prices and noticed happy hour was 5-8 every day on the website so booked it for 6pm. When we arrived we were told happy hour had stopped that week and they would not honour it even though it was on the website. We stood up at a poorly reserved table and paid double what was expected for drinks. Very poor.

Very good atmosphere. Cocktails are pricey, but very good. I have been here many times and would definitely recommend it if you haven’t been here before.

Had a couple of drinks at Cafe Tarifa on a Saturday afternoon. There was a load of bands playing which made it really good. Friendly staff and a good time was had by all.

Cool decor, bit loud and the booths near the bar are really uncomfortable. That said we often end up there.

I like the decoration, and the ambient it's very good. The acustic is not the best. I recommend it. And if you are Spanish, you can enjoy a lot with a cold "Mahou".

Bit of a gem in Cowley this. The garden/courtyard is tropical and you could kid yourself that you are in Mexico or somewhere exotic. Lots of character and loved coming here.

Very disappointing to go there to have an Estrella Galicia on tap early evening when the bar was nearly empty and the staff telling me that they don’t have pint glasses available.Slow service because the staff were making cocktails, I just wanted the only beer that they have on tap. Left without having a drink...

We did not like the cocktails they were really disappointed. Nice place and friendly staff but please learn how to make some descent cockatils.

I have to admit I'm partial to a cocktail or two and finding a bar that does proper cocktails is difficult in Oxford. This is a revelation! Excellent and well trained staff. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Cool place. Great for after work drinks, but I noticed they also do a free toddlers group which is lovely. Cocktails are very good and the staff are really nice.

LOVE this place. The atmosphere and interiors and full of warmth and character. It's friendly and well priced. When it's sunny they open the large shutter windows which is lovely. They have live music and cocktails too. Great for cosy drinks but have never eaten here.

Visited here a while ago as I was out with a few friends looking for some entertainment after our meal elsewhere. Every Thursday, they have live music from local artists and they serve a good selection of cocktails too.

This is a stylish bar with a Spanish/Mediterranean theme that serves cocktails, drinks and some food. The decor is very original and the seating areas are very comfortable. It's very popular for brunch as well as evening g drinks. There is a lovely outside garden area

I invited my friends out here for my birthday. The staff were very co-operative and kind, preparing everything for us. We all had a very good time and I highly recommend it, for the tasty food, staff and atmosphere!

Really good value Saturday brunch, food excellent and a limited but good choice, I would rather have a small choice that is delivered well than a big choice that is mediocre. Reasonable selection of wines. Staff surpassed themselves ans could not do enough to make this an excellent experience

Four of us on a quiet Sunday night in Oxford and we found this lovely restaurant just past the Magdalen Bridge. The atmosphere was really welcoming - pretty lights, eclectic selection of music and great service from all the staff but the food was a real delight and a bit unexpected to be honest, so late on a Sunday. We had Shakshuka, fish and chips, gambones and pork loin - so a real mix - and it was all really, really good. The Spanish toast also deserves a special mention as it was honestly the best I've ever had including that eaten in Spain and Italy.

I’ve been coming here fairly regularly since it opened and have always loved the vibe and the drinks. However the last three times I’ve visited something has changed. The cocktails have not been great quality and the service has been so so slow. Last night it took the bartender twenty minutes to make two cocktails. Twenty minutes!!! Other customers were leaving to go elsewhere because they couldn’t be bothered to wait. My friend was wondering what had happened to me. The time before I ordered a mojito for a friend which was watery, not shaken and flavourless. I didn’t bother complaining because I saw some other customers do so and the bartenders looked pretty irate. Come here for wine and the litres of beer (especially on happy hour). Go elsewhere for cocktails.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon and got a medium glass of wine and a bottle for San Miguel for £6. Not bad that (for Oxford). Think it was happy hour, so that had something to do with it. Tarifa was buzzy and busy. Great.

Had a staff reunion here last night. The venue was amazing and perfect for the occasion. The staff were great and the buffet food good- definitely go back!

Had the family and a dog visiting for the weekend and we had an amazing brunch in the garden. Delicious and authentic food. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely come back.

Overexpensive and poor quality food!

This was one of my all time favourite places in Oxford for 5 years. However the management has changed recently and it's just no the same vibe. For example the music played before was mainly rock, hip hop, cool music you want to hear on a Friday night. Now it's just background music that belongs in a lift or Spanish music over and over again. Whoever is in charge of the stereo should be fired.
