Cafe Spice in Darlington

I came to cafe spice with my husband last night, food was delicious, staff were professional and friendly, we will definitely be back soon.

We had booked a table and upon arrival the table was late by 15 minutes. The service was ok. Food was ok.

Called in with two friends on Saturday. We were seated immediately and ordered drinks. Our food arrived really quickly and was piping hot, and was delicious. Staff, as always at this venue, were very friendly. Highly recommended.

Went with friends food was lovely I had chicken tikka passanda chips and nann. All my friends said their food was lovely. Lovely restaurant, lovely atmosphere, staff were brilliant, will definitely go back.

We visited a couple of Saturdays ago. It was pretty quiet and we were given a good table. The price of the drinks is not cheap and in my eyes it's not value for money. My chicken chat starter was excellent and very tasty, but my chicken Dupiaza was poor and the sauce was far too thin and watery and it spoilt the chicken totally

A group of us went relatively last minute, very accommodating, friendly and lovely food!

Service and food excellent as always.

Waiters were friendly, this was our first visit and we will be back.

Great meal out with family. The curry was excellent. The beers were bottled as opposed to on-draft but still good. The service was great. Recommended choice for a curry in Darlington.

Nice food. Asked for coffee. Was told there was none. Strange.

What an absolute gem of a curry house Cafe Spice is. Great online booking system made it easy to get a table sorted. From walking through the door to leaving the staff couldn't have done anything better. Great welcome as we arrived, drinks order taken quickly and food the same. At no point did we feel rushed to eat. Food was fab, good size portions, nicely presented and flavoursome. Had veggie samosa and a veg biryani. Cost wise about average but worth it. Being somewhat of a newbie to Darlington took the recommendation from my friend who I was out with and I wasn't disappointed. Will definitely be back again in future.

Ordered some food from here spent nearly £50 to find a black hair in my curry and also wouldn’t recommend the chicken pakoras as they were more like chicken nuggets defo not a pakoras. If I wanted a chicken nugget would of went to kfc, had a lot better form else where phoned up and complained and was jus fobbed of

Food was unreal service was outstanding

I ate in here with a couple of work colleagues on a business trip. Recommended to us by a taxi driver, great curry with good friendly and efficient service.

Wonderful little restaurant a real gem The menu was good and the food didn't disappoint either. However the service was fantastic, someone who is great at what he does and gets away with great humour. Loved it.

Don't bother. If you like you food late and cold this is the place for you. I ordered at 6pm it arrived at 8:30. The drive said he'd only just got the order, however it was stone cold, all of it! I rang twice, the first time he said it was on its way! Obviously! Then the second person said, it's on its way sorry the first person must have lied! Food was ok but not worth returning for.

Ordered a takeaway, thought expensive to what I normally pay but iv eaten here many times before, this is not the standard of food I normally get from here, I ordered egg rice which was egg white not yolk? Butter chicken very bland no apparent taste and poppadoms were very greasy!...Will go back to where I usually go, just fancied a change, service was spot on otherwise.

Don't eat here if you don't want change. I pais for dinner in cash but they didn't bring the change, just assumed it was a tip. Disgusting.

Unfortunately this is a case of a restaurant getting successful and taking its customers for granted. Used to be excellent in terms of both food and service. Now, the food isn't anywhere near as good (is the Chef of the year award paid for?) And service - particularly in terms of deliveries is appalling. The times quotes aren't accurate. We'd rather they just be honest. Now there are better Indian restaurants and takeaways in Darlington whose food and service is much better and less expensive. A real shame because this place used to be excellent.

Not enough recipes of different curry dishes for my liking

Ordered at 18:55 with a delivery time of 20:15 - 20:35. The order didn’t arrive until 21:30. An hour late and 2.5 hours after our initial order. The restaurant wouldn’t answer the phone when we tried to contact them. The following day they refused to accept any responsibility or offer and form of goodwill gesture. With plenty of other Indian restaurants in town, we’ll eat elsewhere next time.

Amazing place. Brothers' night out. I couldn't believe the size of the portions. All servings were delicious. Gentlemen taking orders and serving food were extremely polite and professional. No photos, go down and try the meals for yourself. My vindaloo was to the right spice heat, good for tangy lips but the heat didn't follow down to the stomach.

Ordered online, recieved email to say it would be ready at 8:10pm. Turned up at restaurant 8:06pm, told it would be a few minutes. I waited 30 minutes until I got my order which was chucked into the bag carelessly see photo. No explanation, no apology and no thankyou for waiting. Not only that there was others who came for collection who got their orders within 5 minutes, as well as being offered a drink upon arrival. I was not offered a drink until 20 minutes after my àrrival which was incredibly rude. Very annoyed by the whole customer service recieved this evening

An absolutely amazing place very cozy and the staff fantastic. The food has never been rivaled in my opinion.

Went tonight for tea and the food was the best I've had to date. The portion size was decent also. Staff was so friendly and helpful.

My wife and I turned up Fri evening without booking (not the first time) and as always we are warmly welcomed. The food is lovely and the staff are so friendly,a quality place to eat out.

I've been to the restaurant which was great. However, I ordered a takeaway on Saturday night for 9.15pm delivery. The meal didn't actually until 22.35 hrs which wasn't good. When I rang to enquire they said 'sorry, we're busy in the kitchen'. They shouldn't accept the order if they can't deliver on time

The food was very good, in particular the paneer cheese in my side dish that I had as a main. The place was very busy and seemed to be doing as much takeaway business as sit down so it's a credit to the kitchen but it does make the place feel a little chaotic on arrival

Absolutely fantastic. Welcoming staff, very helpful in all aspects. Had special grill starters, then mixed grill mains with a few different sauces tailor made to our requests AND a surprise chef special sauce to try as well. Oh, and the naughty fries are unreal. Well done everyone at Cafe Spice, brilliant as always, looking forward to out next visit already.

A friend and I visited here Sat 19th Nov. The staff were very friendly apart from the manager who moved us from the table that we were on into the corner. He clearly didn't like the look of us. Very rude and obvious lie that the first table was booked, it was still free 2 hrs later. Other than that the food was very good. Apologies to the other staff, your manager lost you your tip.

Ordered a delivery at 5.20pm and the website stated 50 minutes delivery time, rang to ask where it was at 6.40pm to be told it’s on its way !!! Finally arrived at 7.15pm so I was obviously lied to by Rishi on the phone coz the delivery driver only done 1 drop before getting to my house so the food was NEVER on its way at all until I’d rang to complain and finally when it did arrive there was not so much as a sorry or a discount of any kind….I’ll never eat at Cafe Spice ever again !!!

The best Indian I have ever had ! I would happily drive the 300 miles to eat here again score out of 10 was 11. All the staff were amazing ishy and mo were stars thanks to the chefs highly recommend the lamb tender and flavoursome.

First of all, shout out to Mo, our server, who made our evening with his easygoing humor, and efficient service. We even had in-jokes by the end of the meal - really cool guy. The food was great, with generous portion sizes (my wife and I got two entrees and a bit of poppadum / rice, naan, and we had tons of leftovers). The curries (we got paneer, and a lamb dish) were sweet, very fresh-tasting, and served piping hot. We picked 'mild' curries because we're wimps and it was the perfect case of mild heat but not mild on flavour. We got four sauces on the side (maybe free with the pappadum or maybe just free) which were ALL delicious. Overall, fantastic experience, and we would definitely go again!

After reading reviews tried Cafe Spice instead of our regular indian takeaway. Booked online Friday afternoon (3pm) in advance for delivery 7.05pm Order was eventually delivered...7.35pm. Food was good, hot and tasty, however not worthy of the price increase compared to other establishments in town.

Great food, great service from the young lads Recommend

Again we visited here through recommendation, as on a training course all week. Tucked away in Darlo 8 of us catered for by Cafe Spice, a little slow on service, even though the Management were looking spare to give a hand and preferred to chat with each other? Portion sizes were very big and good value. Menu options as you would expect in a normal Indian restaurant. Again regular Beer as expected. Food was incredibly spicy, too much for some of the guys. So overall nothing award winning in our opinion 3/5

The food is good but the delivery service is not good at times. Plus they are starting to lie about when it's coming and it doesn't arrive. They won't get my custom any more!!

Ordered last night had some friends over so we treated them to a meal all i can say it was no treat .the meal was 40 minutes late and food was stone cold chips were cold and dry ..i Ordered chicken srilanka and it was watery slop with no tast at all and the dansak well it was not a dansak that is for sure spent 60 + pounds and didnt even get free poppadoms wont be using again sorry

There are so many Indian restaurant in Darlington it is becoming difficult to decide on what is best, but Cafe Spice is always the winner, excellent food and brillient customer service.

I visited your establishment on Saturday with my friend this is the third time I have eaten there over the last two years I reside in Redcar so don't visit my friend in Darlington often but have always been happy with the service & meal at your establishment. Unfortunately last Saturday was a very big disappointment both service & the food of which I left half as so did my friend pearl. The young girl's were totally run off there feet & the guy was very arrogant. I feel we should be reimbursed fully for this disappointing service which spoilt our night as I will not be visiting Darlington anymore this year. Yours faithfully P A Hart

Absolutely appalled at the service & quality of food tonight. Rang order in at 6.30 & was told they were busy so could be 7.45-8pm for delivery (that we were paying £2.50 for) I was assured it would be no later than 8pm, this past so I rang & was assured be another 10 to 15 mins Still no food at 8.50 so rang & cancelled only for it to turn up 10 mins later. We said we longed wanted it but were given it FOC not what we wanted. Wont be using again.
