Alex was exceptionally polite very helpful and always there when needed top quality waitering in my eyes very best of waiters

Katie was absolutely amazing. So kind, so friendly and was constantly making sure we were ok. We did a bottomless brunch and drinks were flowing out on time great and the food was honestly to die for. Well worth the price and will be coming back again soon!!

Amazing food and brilliant cocktails. Was a bit slow to start... Then ended up with our moneys worth! Had 2 prosecco each, 3 cocktails and steak! Katie was lovely, very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Thanks!

Bottomless brunch..... Katie was very friendly, kind and very attentive at all times, ensuring that we had drinks at all times. The bottomless brunch was amazing. The food was outstanding and delicious. Definitely coming back soon.

Service and food were spot on. Was really quiet, but I expected it would be really busy for Sunday lunch.

Not overly happy! Booked for 1830, drove an hour to get there, booked well in advance for my son's 17th birthday only to be told they're not serving food. Apparently this was known to them as they said they stop serving food around 6 when they run out. NOTHING STATES THIS ON THE BOOKING!!!!!!

Wow, what a disappointment. Came as a party of 12. Got fed at different times, so much so that by the time the last meal came the 1st was finished. Burger sent back as specified no salad, came with salad. 1 steak ordered well done, sent medium. Crab cakes were cooked differently and coloured differently. The curry sauce which was served with it was covered in oil. Coleslaw was sour. When desserts came. Fudge cake was like cardboard. Ice cream advertised as 3 scoops came as 2 teaspoons full served in a warm glass. As a positive though. Our server Katie was fantastic with us. She was so helpful. Very smiley and polite and dealt with everything so well. Full credit to her. The rest of the experience was very below par. Very disappointed and won't be back

NICE FOOD ,GLAD I WASN'T PAYING

It was our first visit here today to have the two courses for £20. The food was lovely and the staff made sure to accommodate my partners gluten and nut allergy. Our waitress Aimee was lovely, she was very polite and helpful- we will definitely be back.

High quality food at a good price, especially the early bird offer. Served well, tastes fantastic. Nice friendly staff.

Fantasic food as always never had a bad meal here!

If overpriced steaks that are not cooked to your liking is your thing. This is the place to be! Paying £75 for an overcooked chateaubriand was not on my agenda but here we are. On top of that, one of the more costly starters of the dim sums, where you get “a selection of chicken, duck and vegetable” don’t bother, we received 10 (albeit the menu said we’d get 8) but all 10 were vegetable, the one type we wouldn’t have chosen. I’ve always said, you’d never buy a steak from a Chinese takeaway, this is the equivalent. Don’t buy oriental food from a steakhouse.. it just doesn’t work. As a final comment. Amateur cooks cooking intermediate food. Save the money, eat at home or even go to Estabulo next door

My first time trying this. Great service, the starters and desserts were amazing. The main wasn't bad either (some halal options). The nice waitress was kind enough to take a pic of us which we were appreciative of.

Only went for the 3 course for £20, food was good then staff were great 🤷

A truly awful experience, I would never recommend this place to anyone. We arrived with our child and we could hear shouting and assumed that there was a rowdy group in, and thought I hope we are not sat next to them. We sat in what we thought was a quiet corner, but then we heard loads of serious shouting, and when I say shouting I mean serious shouting. It stopped for about 10 mins and we realised it was from the staff! After this it started again, really aggressive shouting a swearing, my daughter got really scared as you would expect. I reported it to two staff members who simply said, we have spoken to them about this a few times and they keep doing it….. I would never ever go to this place, you do not expect for your child to come away from a meal feeling scared when it should be a treat, this is the worst experience of customer service in my life.

Excellent service, checked everything was OK, times were great waiting for service and for food. Had this lovely birthday board under my dessert. We visited under the restaurant week, 3 courses £20. Well worth it. It included rump under this offer if not paying to upgrade and it was really good, no massive gristle/fat bits you couldn't chew.

Service was terrible. Arrived 7.45pm, starters arrived approx an hour later. At 9.20pm we informed the manager we'd like to leave. They comped us the drinks and starters(although we offered to pay), but honestly all we wanted was a nice steak, and from the expressions of those around us we weren't the only ones.

Updated review for 2024... Another visit for a family birthday, this time on. Sunday for Sunday lunch. I'm disappointed to say things have gone downhill at this restaurant. We had long waits for service, the servings of beef were almost insulting in their stinginess (not to mention a little on the tough side) and things like red cabbage and horseradish sauce were not provided or not in stock. This is a real shame because we had such a good experience on our previous visit in 2022.

Good points: - Lovely looking restaurant, very pretty and smart, smelt good - All waiting staff/hostess/bar staff were very friendly -Food was generally really good!! Steak was all rare as requested (however see below). Mash was a belter!! - Our waitress Eden was an absolute gem. What a lovely girl - refreshingly honest, polite and friendly; she was authentic and such a breath of fresh air. Please Eden don't ever change - you're such a sweetheart and we thought you were wonderful :-) Bad points: - for somewhere that's a 'meat connoisseur' (soz for sounding like a Karen) but on the land & sea dish we can't pick different cooking done-ness of steak dependent on cut?? Surely a sirloin should be cooked differently to a rump?? Not being a whinge bag but there's a reason they taste better cooked differently - bit chain restauranty; like, I get it, you're a business, but I think there's room for some special touches/originality - your tips don't go to the wait staff including the added gratuity?? Patrons make sure you tip in cash - Drink is remarkably marked up! - ask for tap water-not just still

I took my wife here for Valentine’s Day was the worst meal ever the steak is cooked in the oven then put on the grill for a second I’m sorry but that is not called fresh to order it’s like there’ serving microwave dishes it’s really a disgrace to be called a steak house I’ve been grilling all my life that is not grilled steaks you guys serve, we literally felt sick to our stomach’s the next day, will definitely be complaining to headquarters about this so called steak house.

Went for a meal with the family , the steak was cooked exactly how everyone wanted . All the staff were very welcoming, would definitely recommend.

A successful Darlington restaurant week visit. 3 courses for £20 can’t be beat really. Little balls of parmo with a good sauce, steak cooked medium rare with a pot of peppercorn sauce to top it off with, and a slice of chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream to wash it down. Staff were quick and attentive with taking orders and bringing drinks over. Would recommend to visitors of Darlington and would go back again

Very overpriced with poor side dishes. Having eaten at hawksmoor and other good steak houses, the prices are on par with those but food no way near. Steaks were ok but the side dishes were terrible for the price charged. Service was good and our waitress very helpful but very disappointed and won’t be back

Heard really good things about the place, however the experience was terrible ! We had the 3 course for £20 the meatballs were ok but the steak was terrible, the menu does not state what cut of meat it is and when it arrived was rump and was full of fat and probably the cheapest and worst cut of meat know to man for a place that is supposed to price its self on steak that’s a joke ! ….. the the dessert came hot chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream … Jesus was hideous tasted like cheap chocolate coins that you used to get at Christmas everything is overpriced and tasted generic if you’re thinking of going save you’re hard earned money , the service was terrible also had to got to the bar and order drinks every time we ran out and to ask ask for the bill … to then find out they have already put 10% service charge in without asking !! That was removed straight away and was left disappointed

Great venue and staff here are amazing. Steaks were cooked to our taste and spot on wines, we'll be back next time we're in Darlington

Me, my wife and my in-laws visited Tomahawk in Darlington. We were served by Alex. The service was excellent. Really nice guy. He looked after, ensured we had a really good time. Very good service, we were all impressed. Credit to the restaurant.

Food was great . ALEX was very polite and helpful and made our experience all round fantastic. Great service all evening and we really enjoyed our night. Would recommend. We will definitely come again.

Had a tomahawk sharing steak, was 25% bone and 25% fat, it is a shame cos we have had nice meals here before but would definitely think twice before spending so much money on very average/poor quality food again

Arrived on time, my booking was taken under the name "pat" which I think they misheard my name over the phone. It took around 5 minutes for us to have our drinks order taken and then atleast another 15 before we had our food order taken. Ordered a Chateaubriand and then 20 minutes later be told there was no beef dripping chips left, on a Saturday night!, running out of chips! Then told we would get fries instead, then chips actually came out, but they were small portions. Overall food was acceptable and okay cooked. Service was piss poor, had the service charge taken off, had to flag down for desert order, bill to pay, every course our plates were on the table atleast 10 minutes. Seems like they should assign waitresses sections to manage to be more attentive. Would go again in the future hoping for better.

The Mrs and I had a pay day banquet! We had starters, main and desert because why not!? I had some of the beat nachos I've ever had hands down, had some extra Shwarma chicken on top which really was like from a kebab shop - delicious! We ate an incredibly cheesey garlic bread too and split the Tommahawk. Great flavour, tender, and perfect colour to order. The cookie desert was blistering hot but soft and naughty. We each had cocktails, but overall the experience was because of a delightful waitress who couldn't do enough. We will absolutely be returning!

The food was nice, a little to noisy for me and a little expensive for what you get, but clean and tidy and nice staff, ok for a treat

Came to tomahawk for breakfast and staff friendly on arrival, upon sitting down waited for 10 mins until we were asked what we'd like to drink despite there only been 2 other tables, we then waited another 15 minutes to be asked what we'd like to eat - with no sign of drinks (did come soon after). Food came less than 5 minutes later, and was luke warm, sausages cold, toast was only done on 1 side and the black pudding wasn't heated at all. We saw a lot of staff in the kitchen stood about on our way out, so classing this as a dereliction of duty - I hope the management can take more care on quality in here in the future.

We managed to book a table at short notice as we were staying at a nearby hotel and saw Tomahawk on our way in to town. It was restaurant week so there was a special menu alongside the normal evening menu, and it was excellent value. The 4 of us, including my 7 year old, thoroughly enjoyed our meal. 2 of us chose the 3 course meal from the restaurant week menu and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and relaxed and the perfect place for us to enjoy a quiet dinner before heading back to our hotel for the night.

Second time here, food is really nice and the service is nice. Only problem is they automatically add 10% service charge to the bill.

Family dinner night - on arrival was seated very quickly and had a lovely and attentive server name Alex , they certainly made us feel welcome and content, only niggle not an massive issue really however a large glass of Malec I was surprised at the £9.95 charge it was ok wine Would return again but try a different wine 5* for service however

Wasn't great in a nutshell. The gentleman serving us was excellent. However, the food wasn't great. They also forgot to bring one of our side dishes. Will not be rushing back.

We go to the Tomahawk a couple of times a month. This is the first time we have been served by Alex. He was amazing with great attention to detail.

We had the 3 courses for £20 offer which was excellent. The steak was very nice. Service and staff were good. There were a lot of extras to be added if you don't fully read the menu. The optional 10% service charge is not something we appreciated, but you can ask for it to be removed. Thanks.

Load of rubbish, over priced, cheap microwaved starters came out cold, there is no way they were freshly cooked, Wine ordered then forgot about drinks took ages to come. Steak sharer was nice but way over priced Tiny portions. Poor service. Bill for 2 of us was £124. Complained to head office and offered a messily £25 voucher to visit again, I declined. Heard great stuff about this restaurant, maybe I was unlucky but unfortunately won't have my business again terrible.

First and last time we'll come here. Everyone raves about the quality but I've not had a worse Christmas menu in my life! First of all, we were told there was a problem with the electricity so parts of the menu we'd had to pre-order beforehand weren't available. Fair enough, things happen. The food we did get, the majority of us there (party of seven) weren't happy with. Desserts were cold or lukewarm. The parmo I had ordered thinking it might be a fun twist and something different for Christmas was quite literally just a chicken breast covered in plain cheese and some pigs in blankets thrown on top. That's it! Service was also incredibly slow considering that we were the first people in the restaurant at opening! Took 45 minutes just to be served cutlery and drinks. The biggest shame about it was that it was my partner and I's civil partnership ceremony party, and we'd all heard such wonderful things about Tomahawk that we thought we couldn't go wrong. Never again. Biggest waste of money I think I've spent at any restaurant. Also don't expect too much class: they have a broken window that they thought was easily fixed by covering it up with cardboard boxes. They also have a tight budget when it comes to heating the place too apparently, as it was freezing in there on a cold, snowy winter afternoon.

Stopping in Darlington we decided to eat at this restaurant. Easy to book and on arrival a friendly greeting, our waitress was excellent just enough attention without being over the top. Both had the flat iron steak cooked to perfection with just the right amount...

You can't go wrong with a Tomahawk! Food is delicious and there is a great variety. I had the parmo croquettes and the wagyu burger. The early bird menu is something like two courses for 15 which going off the prices on the normal menu is amazing value for money. The multistorey car park is across the road so perfect if your driving over. This was my first time going at a lunch time and it was nice and quiet with a relaxed atmosphere. I'd definitely go again, if not just for the Stilton and bacon sauce 🥓😋

Dropped a star due to service not being what it usually is. They were busy granted but despite all the glasses on the table being empty no offer to get drinks then at the end of the meal multiple not so subtle hints they needed the table. I have been many times and they have always been great and can only put this down to them being busy however two of the party of 4 were celebrating birthdays and the evening just felt rushed.

Restaurant was cold ate in my coat. Food was average and overpriced, staff a little rude when I mentioned my starter didn’t taste good. I think the dishes have reduced in quality and increased in price.
