We only had coffee but it was really well made and not too expensive. There was a small range of fresh cakes. The rest of the menu looked good. The café is next to the marina so very convenient for that, but it is worth stopping of you are driving past. At the time of our visit the café was open Weds-Sun only, which may be a business necessity, but it is unlikely to help the business grow.

We visited on the 9/9/23. We have had takeaways a few times while visiting son in Rhu. On Saturday we popped in and ate in the cafe, service was excellent, lovely young ladies, we could not fault the food, or service. Cullen skink was the best, so much fish and very tasty, chips were so good, real potatoes used and cooked to perfection. We will definitely visit again if we’re in the area.

After a wonderful sail to Rhu Marina as part of the Sailing & Cruising Scotland flotilla, we found ourselves needing a good breakfast and a coffee after running out of milk 😞😞....... After a quick Google we discover this gem of a Cafe on our doorstep. Met by a wonderful host and waitresses we sat down and began to look through the menu, friendly customers left and right engaged in conversation and made us feel welcome. We settled on the filled rolls, the menu although not extensive, is mouth watering coupled with the smells from the kitchen wafting around the seating area made choosing very difficult. After making our selection the chef approached us to make sure our orders would be cooked to perfection. The food arrived and OMG. Delicious!!! If you are in the area and are looking for well cooked, friendly atmosphere proper honest food then we highly recommend Cafe Rhu. Thank you Adam & Jess

We had been highly recommended Café Rhu by friends who are regular there and we were not disappointed. The service was good and tables were adequately social distanced. Food was prepared to order, so was fresh and tasty. We had a ham and cheese sandwich to share, which had generous filling. The coffee was really good too. The one downside is that it was rather expensive, but as it attracts the yachting fraternity at Rhu Marina I guess they believe charging high is par for the course.

Locals had highly recommended this place so we had high expectations.Perfect for me as I like soup and there were three on the menu to choose from. Café Rhu is definitely the best place to go if you're in the area - the food is some of the best quality in Argyll and Bute (the soups in particular are unbeatable) and that at shockingly low prices! Just stopped by mid-walk for a light refreshment. Nice wee place, but ridiculously expensive. One can of San Pellegríno flavoured water and a piece of apple pie = over £6 ?! I challenged the price and was told the slice of apple pie was £4.50! My wife and I have visited a number of time when in the marina with our yacht. Food always good. Took our walking group there recently and was horrified by the poor service. One of our walkers is Type 1 diabetic. As we walked, he did a blood test which showed he needed to eat something. As we were just approaching the cafe for a coffee stop I said he would be fine. When we entered he and some others formed a line at the counter, only to be told after five minutes or so by a rather brusque gentlemen behind the counter that he would have to sit down and wait his turn. He explained he was diabetic and needed something urgently and that a piece of apple pie, ready cut and in the counter display would be fine. He was told in no uncertain terms that he would have to wait. Fortunately another member of staff served him quickly and a hypo event was avoided. Really dreadful service in this day and age!

Had lunch at this modest but delightful wee cafe at Rhu Marina. The surprise is that for somewhere that looks like a simple cafe it turns out delicious and substantial food.I started with the Cullen Skink. Unfortunately, many establishments see Cullen Skink as a cynical ploy to charge £5 for half a pint of milk and a chopped spud. This was the real deal with half the North Sea in it. Juicy chunks of smoked haddock, the perfect texture (not too thick) and perfectly seasoned. In retrospect the Cullen Skink would have sufficed but a pleasant enough Minute Steak Ciabatta was accompanied by a far too generous portion of perfectly cooked chips. The young lady serving was a delight. Bubbly, happy, helpful, attentive and not "enjoy" or "in your face".The baking looked good but after the previous two courses I was more stuffed than Python's "Mr Creosote".

I like to eat at Cafe Rhu. It is small, cosy and friendly. The food is of excellent quality, there is lots of it and at a very good price. Service is great too. I regularly go there for lunch or coffee. Also each year all the adults of the youth group that I work for go to Cafe Rhu for our Christmas evening dinner. Thats where I was last night. We get the whole cafe for as long as we want it, a sumptuous meal, unlimited cofee etc etc. The neat thing is that as the Cafe does not have a licence we can take our own drinks which keeps the cost down for the students and younger people. As always it was a wonderful evening. I recommend Cafe Rhu very strongly if you have not tried it.

Even though I haven't eaten "in" it is my preferred lunchtime take out for me and my work colleagues. We have munched our way through all of the take away menu at one time or another, and the good bit is, you can pre-order by telephone. Soups, Burgers, Sandwiches, fish & chips to take away, and even after travelling back 10 miles to work with lunch it is always perfect, well packaged and really tasty.Whilst waiting to collect the food on a few occasions, I have noticed and listened to the murmurs of content from the sit-in patrons at lunchtime. This compact café/restaurant has everything going for it, and I will definitely order more delicious food from here, and look forward to when I can sit in and enjoy a meal at my leisure away from the time constraints of work.

Staff are always friendly and although it is basically set out like a cafe, it has a good restaurant quality menu. 3 homemade soup options at lunch along with a good choice of hot or cold sandwiches and meals. I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.
