friendly spot, tasty food and lovely coffee. we were the first to arrive but after that there was a slow stream of breakfasters arriving which created a gentle buzz. good prices too

Stopped in for a cuppa and breakfast. Had French toast but this was poor. Bread was tough, too thickly cut and not enough egg had soaked in to it. The bacon however was crisp and delicious. The coffees were good.

Always excellent and friendly. Good quality food and served nicely. That's why we return to Renroc

No gluten free options available even tho it says on here. Needs updating. They didn’t even want to entertain putting something together just said no and walked on

Travelled to Edinburgh with 8 friends for the Rugby at Murrayfield. Went to Cafe Renroc due to its convenient location in a leafy area wearing our rugby attire. We were welcomed by the owner Pelham wearing his Scotland rugby jersey. We immediately struck up a great conversation about rugby, full of friendly banter. The menus catered for all tastes. I personally had the full Scottish with haggis and tatty scones. The food was excellent and well presented and set us up for a long day ahead. After saying farewell we agreed to return the next day and discuss the rugby result. Pelham had reserved our tables, even though he could have taken other customers whilst we waited. The rugby banter continued with great humour. We will definitely return when next in Edinburgh and would highly recommend the cafe.

Travelled to Edinburgh Friday 23 FEB. 2024 for Scotland v England rugby match with family and friends. From research found this cafe a perfect location for the AirBnB we were staying at locally. Eight of us in attendance Saturday 24 - breakfast superb. Well presented, fresh, hot and very nice. The menu caters for all dietary needs. The cafe owner Pellam was extremely friendly, polite and the service was excellent. As a result we went back the following morning and got exactly the same high standard of food, drink and service. Infact I found out later from members of our party that went in ahead of us that Pellum had reserved an extra table for us of which I am very grateful for. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We will be back in two years time when England return to Murrayfield Stadium. Hopefully the result will be in our favour ! Thank you Pellum for going above and beyond for us - very much appreciated.

Went here for a quick breakfast around 9:45AM. I had the Wee Monty (Toast, egg, bacon). Food was okay. Found the place a little bit too cold, so I just eat my breakfast and left.

Ok full Scottish breakfast but…..The “french toast” was slightly stale bread, untoasted, drizzled with maple syrup and a few strawberries. It bore absolutely no resemblance to french toast and was barely edible. The full Scottish breakfast was ok, not great.

We've tried Poached eggs with salmon and it was delicious! Flat white and herbal tea also was amazing. The owner is super nice and we've got our food very fast. Definitely recommend this place!

This is a perfect spot for some coffee, drinks, or food! The owner is a lovely man who puts a lot into his business and is always serving really delicious food. You get a lot for your money, and the food is yummy! Whats not to love.

Proper hidden gem. Best continental style (seats outside, v.cold beer, relaxed feel) cafe in town. Been our local for a couple of years - never disappoints. Strong recommendation.

Great little cafe! I was served by a very sweet father & son duo, and the food was very fast and absolutely delicious! Seems to be quite beloved by the locals, which is always a good sign. Will definitely be coming back soon!

The cutest well located coffe shop just between Leith walk and Easter road has sunny outdoor seating area and also indoor, it serves brunch and cakes. Coffee is good but the cakes taste glorious, I tried the Courgette cake and is absolutely delicious. Situated on a quite corner is a perfect sunny spot for a coffee and cake and also beers and ciders. I would definitely come back!

Great small cafe on the corner in quiet area, delicious food, especially breakfast and coffee. I took eggs Benedict with salmon, so tasty! fresh bread and salmon, perfectly cooked eggs coveref with delicious sauce. Yummy! Atmosphere is really chilled in the cafe and service was good. For two dishes with coffee and juice I paid £30.

Can't beat this place for a spot of breakfast or brunch on a sunny day. The outside seating gets the sun from early morning and the food is tasty and comes in brilliantly hearty portions. Lovely place to relax a stonea throw from the bustling Leith Walk.

It's great to find an independently run cafe that has bags of character and that serves tasty food. Having stayed up late the night before we wanted somewhere where we could have a relaxing brunch. Cafe Renroc was ideal. It's just 5 minutes walk from where London Road meets Leith Walk and is located amongst broad quiet streets. Despite it being April we chose to have our brunch outside, and it was very pleasant sat at the sheltered tables outside in the sun. Pelham who runs the cafe looked after us well and nothing was too much trouble. The food was both plentiful and tasty. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly it was good to chat to other customers

This is a great place for breakfast - there's a wide choice from a full cooked breakfast to 3 types of eggs benedict, breakfast rolls and waffles with bacon and maple syrup. It has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. It is quite a small place and has some pavement tables for warmer weather. You can book through their Facebook page. It looks like they do take- out breakfast rolls as well.

A great little place- we went for breakfast There's a varied choice- full Scottish cooked breakfast, smaller versions of cooked breakfast, breakfast rolls, eggs benedict, waffles with bacon and maple syrup. It had a welcoming atmosphere and the food was well cooked and very tasty. You can book through their Facebook page. There's outside seating for when it is warmer. They also do take-out rolls

Cela fait 6 ans que je viens à Édimbourg et que je retourne toujours au Renroc café pour manger les succulents œufs Bénédictes. Accueil très sympathique des gérants ! Went for breakfast. Great service in a quirky small cafe. Breakfast was very tasty but not perfectly cooked. Small number of staff and a busy cafe so that's understandable.

Gorgeous little place out of the way of the hustle and bustle of town. Just perfect for a quiet lunch and the food is amazing. Lovely sized freshly cooked portions, beautifully presented, and very tasty. Really good value, friendly service, and great atmosphere. You really couldn’t ask for anything better. We’ll definitely be returning when we’re next in Edinburgh. Can’t wait to try the outside seating when the weather gets warmer.

Great food, great atmosphere, great staff! Once we found this place on a recent trip to Edinburgh, we couldn't go anywhere else for breakfast or afternoon coffee! Amazing regular and vegetarian full breakfasts. You MUST stop here if you haven't already been.

We arrived at 1215 with our two young kids in tow. The seating was all occupied at the time but the owner took a phone number and said he’d text us as soon as a table had cleared. We explained our kids were picky eaters and asked if it would be possible to bring them some food along with us.. this wasn’t a problem at all! We got a text about 40 mins later to tell us that a table would be ready for us in 15 mins. Once we arrived and were seated the service was spot on and the staff very friendly. The food was fresh, tasty and we couldn’t fault it. It all arrived promptly and they were even happy to do a last minute alteration to one of our mains. The draught beer was served in frozen glasses which was nice. There is limited seating at this venue, but at no point did we feel rushed to leave our table. Would definitely come here again! 5* all day long

Love this wee cafe. Perfect for just a coffee or a brunch. Always go there on a Saturday for a beer. The rolls are fantastic and the owner is really friendly.

I passed it randomly. Had a takeaway coffee. The cup came without a standard cardboard sleeve and the coffee was scalding so a sleeve would have made sense. 50 yards down the street the bottom part collapsed. A section rather than the whole. This meant that rather than the drink falling straight down it squirted out of the left side. Burned my hand badly, at least in the immediate, and went everywhere. I went back. The owner can't have thought I'd drunk it, I was back within 5 minutes. He offhandedly apologised, went inside to dispose of the cup, then reappeared a few minutes later and spoke to a couple on the pavement at which point I gauged he had no intention of speaking to me or offering me another. A disgraceful lack of service. Anyone who knows me would acknowledge I am even-handed in feedback so I have no compunction in this. I would never return.

I go to this little gem of a cafe whenever I'm in Edinburgh. It's just a few minutes walk from the end of the line tram stop at York Place, and just far enough Off the Beaten Track to be not crammed with tourists. Always fun to chat with Pelham, the larger-than- life and straight-talking owner, and pass time with the local regular customers! Really great coffee, I can't believe the review I just read by some numpty complaining his coffee was too hot! Go live in California mate, where you can't get a hot coffee to save your life for danger of owners getting sued... Also love sitting there with a cold beer in the sun at the end of the day...and If you're after an almond milk, 70% foam decaf latte with chocolate substitute powder, don't go here!

Website shows the cafe open until 5pm but I was told at 3:30pm that the kitchen closed at 3pm and only coffee and cake was available. This is always happening to me. Why not put a note on the website to that effect?

Love Renroc and they’re always impressing me with the additional little bits and bobs/ events they do (keep up by following them on Facebook!). Great coffee, food, cake, beer, atmosphere staff all under one roof! I visit Renroc every time I’m back in Edinburgh. Thanks guys!

Everyone was gracious and friendly. A couple of regulars got up and made room for us and our luggage. We are visiting from USA. Very good food. Reuben was excellent. Our friends had the vege breakfast. Also excellent. Plenty of food. Highly recommend.

Good coffee, nice chilled atmosphere of a father daughter run business. However, the signature breakfast “Eggs Benedict” were totally drowned in sauce hollondaise and the avocado version was made with too much non fresh guacamole. Value for money is ok.

GREAT PANCAKES AND SERVICE The pancakes were definitely the best part of this meal. They were fluffy and tasty and covered in syrup. There was a lot of bacon! The full breakfast wasn't as good as the quality of the pancakes. May have just been the one I got but the eggs were a little rubbery. Everything else was fine. The service and atmosphere of this place is probably the best part. The owner is super nice and when I was there the people there were friendly.

That's a perfect quite cafe with a great atmosphere just near the top of Leith walk. We always try to go for a Sunday brunch, the food is very good, the staff is lovely and prices are good. They also have outside seats if the weather is good. They also do a good coffee, better than average I would say.
