Good food, good prices, good service

I come here most Saturday mornings for breakfast, which is always the really outstanding Spanish Omelet, fries and salad, washed down with Irn Bru. I get here after completing Parkrun just around the corner and the craic with the locals and visitors alike is excellent. Staff are always very friendly and accommodating and we move the tables together to get closer in order to chat. Not expensive and well worth visiting. I love this place.

Bad place went there got fronted to cuz I went to the bathroom and didn't pay for anything didn't see no sing guy right in front of the door and having a go at us there was someone at the till that could of told us we have to pay but they did not and if have really affected my gf and I wish I could of prevented it as I was the only one to use that bath room and I am dyslexic

I went to use the toilet didn't see the sign saying customers only want to leave person blocking the door back turned and instead saying nicely why didn't u ask stay there had a rant say why didn't u ask me its not a public toilet and side I had to buy something I understand that it's for customers use now but he could of been alot nice as he scread my anxious girlfriend that did nothing wrong

Had an absolutely awful experience here today. Would rate 0 stars if i could. My partner was desperate for the toilet, so we popped in. Waited a few minutes by the counter to ask would it be okay to use the toilet facilities, but was ignored. Decided to just use them, as my partner was desperate. I suffer with severe anxiety, and I am autistic. Upon trying to leave, there was a man blocking the door. This made me extremely uncomfortable, and caused me to have a huge panic attack, and a meltdown. The man questioned why we did not ask to use the toilet, and explained that the facilities were for customers only, and that we would have to buy something from him. I apologised and explained I didn't realise this. There was absolutely no need for this man to block the door and his intimidating behaviour. Apparently there was a sign on the door, but I did not notice it, and my partner is dyslexic. Perhaps if the customer service had been better when we first walked in and we were actually acknowledged, this could have been avoided.

I highly recommend it. Cozy place, nice service. Food very tasty. Fast and professional. The owners are very hospitable ❤️

This is a family-run, small and atmospheric restaurant in northern Scotland! It is located in the small town of Alness... Delicious dishes of a high standard. Dishes composed exquisitely! Service at the highest level, competent, professional and nice. The quality and taste of the dishes, the way they are served and the service are second to none... A wonderful place, I recommend it to everyone and always. The owners are so nice, you won't leave hungry...

Best kebabs I've had round here, and I've tried lots! The chicken kebab is amazing, butterflied, marinated slabs of chicken breast, big blob of creamy coleslaw, small side salad, pots of chilli and garlic sauces and fresh made pitta. I'd never had a fresh made pitta with a high street kebab before and now I don't think I can go back to the cardboardy sog of a standard packet pitta. The doner is browned nicely, cut thin and comes with fresh pitta, sauces and a side salad. Both delicious. Had takeaway, can't really judge atmosphere, so gave 3 stars for that. Staff super friendly, polite and food was ready quickly.

Brilliant food and service, dog friendly which was a bonus for us. Had a delicious burger ! And the other food coming from the kitchen looked great also ....we will be back !!!

I've been here a lot for a sit down with the family, the foods great, the staff are friendly, it's clean and it's reasonably priced. Recommended.

The food was good but the person taking the orders seemed a bit miserable and lacking a sense of humour.

Picante Café is outstanding! The Café looks small from outside but when you walk in it's very large. It's still cosy and I like a private table in a corner & there's usually a choice. EVERYTHING is absolutely spotless & clean - there's NO sticky tables here! The family who own it are delightful & it was a pleasure to meet them & chat with them. The young man who serves us is their son and he is extremely polite and very professional. Thank you Antoine. I hope I remembered your name correctly. My Carer's not here so I can't ask him! I'll be back to correct it if I've got it wrong. The coffee is delicious. The food is cooked to perfection! We will be returning frequently. I don't cook so my Carer makes sure I go out to eat regularly. It's incredible to find such a perfect place for me to have a cooked meal. Delicious! The menu offers an extremely wide selection of food. I will try to take some photos of the menu. Extremely reasonable prices. JUST BRILLIANT! Thank you.

Served by a lovely young lassie .Food was really tasty and my wife actually ate all her omelette as it was so good and my mac and cheese 🧀 was really hot but so yum yum , could have eaten two lots 😋 😊 in one sitting 😋 .

Stopped with my dad, niece and nephew for lunch after a long drive up from Ayrshire. Dad thoroughly enjoyed his bacon roll, our omelettes were first class and the chips were perfect. Quick and friendly service too.

We are regulars at cafe Picante every Saturday morning after parkrun. The staff are super friendly, they are always so accommodating and it feels like they make a special effort to look after us. The coffee is the best and the breakfast’s are superb. We love this cafe 🥰

Great staff, fab food, clean and not to expensive.

We were in on a Saturday morning and didn't realise it was a limited menu. (They were waiting on more staff arriving) Shame as we couldn't get what we wanted. Order was wrong when it came out but staff did fix and worked to get the order out quickly.

I just had coffee and cake coffee was lovely, cake not homemade .

Table service available from friendly, affable staff. Restaurant was spacious and clean. The food was well presented, cooked properly and tasted fine. What would have made it better would have been more locally produced items, some haggis and locally made sausages.

After completing the Alness parkrun, we joined the locals and volunteers for coffee at this cafe. The staff were welcoming and cheerful. The atmosphere was friendly and the coffee was very good. An excellent way to start Saturday.

Smart, Friendly waiting staff. Well laid out seating spaces. Decent, varied Menu with Hot & Cold drinks. Not long to wait for lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed. Happy to recommend 🤗

Lovely meal, couldn't fault any of it; Husband had The Whopper - a triple patty burger with chips and salad (biggest burger I've seen in my life). He also had a bottle of beer. I had a jacket potato with coronation chicken, cheese, salad and coleslaw. Finished with a latte to drink. Our son had spaghetti bolognese with chips and salad (adult portion). He also had a caramel milkshake. The quality of the food, and quick, friendly service, matched with the price was absolutely brilliant. We were £30 all in. We'll definitely be back!

Best service quick response and best pizza kebab

Update: I've now been a regular weekly visitor for three years and I still think of each visit as a once-a-week treat. My father and I always look forward to the excellent breakfast, prepared exactly as we like it by the cook. We visit different local cafes six days a week, Picante is definitely our favourite. The layout of this cafe is open and easily accessible for anyone with a wheelchair, a rare element in the surrounding area. The cafe is very clean and bright and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. From five or six visits I have yet to find fault with the food on offer, everything has been just as I requested. There is no phone signal on the EE network inside but the owners do provide free WiFi. I can definitely recommend this cafe, particularly for a good old fashioned breakfast.

Only go in here to get takeaway coffees but they are always good. Staff attentive & hard working. From what i can see while waiting food is simple but nicely done.

The newer light and airy decor did much to introduce some ambience to what is essentially a café. The coffee is good, the service passable when it isn't busy and the food better than average. It is unpretentious and where the locals go. Monica and staff are not only welcoming, but also efficient and unvaryingly cordial. Having frequented the establishment since its inception, I can confidently say that it has improved and I highly recommend both for service and quality.
