Stopped of for a quick bite for breakfast before a walk. Both me and my husband had a bacon sandwich which was generously filled on lovely fluffy white bread. Very dog friendly and lovely coffee also. It was a tad pricey but is in a good and convenient location.

We popped here for a quick sandwich and a coffee after a day out. Although we felt the prices were expensive, we could live with paying £5.50 for a bacon sandwich as we believed it would be of good quality. The bread was stale and the bacon was like paper but this was not the worst part. Our partners both ordered a cheese and onion sandwich respectively, the cheese tasted funky and I would argue it had gone off and the onion was mouldy. There was actual parts of mould in our sandwich which for my partner who is 37 weeks pregnant, this was not one of her cravings. Overpriced and underwhelmed to say the least. Will not be returning here unfortunately

As a family we had been to the cafe before so only used because of convenience, car park close by which is charged for. Firstly Tables were dirty, tea was good! Very limited menu. Sandwich although tasted fresh had very little ham on , just a few crisps on the side . Overall three sandwiches, three drinks £33 sadly not really worth the cost . Lacking in personality from the staff, It could have been so much better. I would return for a drink only next time.

We were served by a friendly lady who took our orders, the coffee and food came quickly. One of the coffee cups had lipstick on it, it happens and lipstick doesn’t always come off 🤷🏼♀️ We let the lady know and she apologised and made a new one in a clean cup. When our breakfast arrived one of them had beans which we specifically said we didn’t want as I absolutely hate them. I was embarrassed and felt bad as we’d already swapped the coffee and explained this to the lady. She said they would re make the order, she went through to the kitchen where we could hear the chef shouting and swearing about having to remake the breakfast. We were left feeling very uncomfortable and I considered telling them just to cancel the breakfast and leave. We stayed and the breakfast came without the beans, the food was okay nothing to shout home about. It was just a very uncomfortable experience, which is a shame as going out for breakfast was supposed to be a treat after a rough few weeks.

Me and my wife like to try different restaurants and cafeterias when out walking and today we stumbled upon this little gem. First of all the service from the European girl who served us our hot drinks was fantastic, she was A1 friendly. The food came within 15 minutes and was very well presented and exactly as we ordered as we did not want all the items listed. The vegetarian breakfast was beautifully presented and was probably the best we have had in the Peak District for a while. Highly recommended. 5 stars. Would recommend it to our walker friends and will be calling again in the future.

Very friendly staff, although only one person serving so it took a while to get served as teas/ coffees were made before serving next customer. The “full” English was very nice but for £9:95 you get 1egg,1bacon, black pudding, beans etc but half a sausage sliced lengthwise seems a bit stingy to say the least.

Arrived around 2.30 on Sunday afternoon, only another table of diners. Noticed menu was much smaller than our last visit and cake, bun selection was much depleted. I ordered a BLT , my partner the last quiche . After a wait the food arrived. The quiche was burned ,top and bottom, the male cook apologized. My small BLT was ok but both our small salads had seen better days. At the end of our meal the pleasant front of house lady came with a full refund !!!!!! I asked if the cafe was under new management, she said No and said that Saturday had been busy . We have visited this cafe numerous times over the years, it's very inconsistent and having initially spent 22 pounds it was very disappointing. From recent reports were not the only customers to be let down. Definitely don't call at the end of the day.

In a rush to get my bus and needing a cuppa I popped in to Café on the Green. I didn’t look at the menu for prices I just ordered a cup of tea to take away, not to sit in, repeat to take away. I was shocked to be asked for £3. I’d been in Harrogate the week before and had sat in for tea, in a pot with a pot of hot water and china cups for £2.70!!! You are 61% of the price to sit in at Betty’s for a cup of Yorkshire Tea! The word greedflation has been mentioned a lot recently I wonder if it applies here?

Previous visits to this cafe with friends have proved enjoyable with the Derbyshire oatcakes a particular highlight. Today I checked the website for opening times ( as these seem to have changed a little over the years) and confirmed it was open. Imagine our disappointment after a longish drive into Derbyshire to find the cafe closed with no explanation at all on the door. There may have been an emergency but the lack of communication is no way to run a business. We were not the only potential customers to walk away a little disgruntled. An explanation would be or would have been appreciated.

I have to say that the food is very good and the staff quite friendly. It's only a small cafe but makes the most of its space without cramping up. Toilets available upstairs, the staircase is not for anyone with poor mobility though ! Now, I like dogs but I do feel that they don't belong in places that serve food and drink. This cafe allows them in and we had two of them while we were there. One decided to constantly yap and we had to endure that for a little while until its owner moved outside with it. Not at the cafe owners request though, they just smiled indulgently ! So for me, it would be better if no dogs were allowed in, especially as it is a small space and you can't get away from them if they start being noisy.

Jenny & I have been here several times before, on our own and with friends, and the coffee mid-morning this time was just as good as always, and the welcome just as friendly. This time we thenn came back later for a very late lunch after a distinctly chilly winter walk on the moors and tucked into a huge pulled pork sandwich, with colourful side salad, and a big and delicious bowl of tomato and roasted red pepper soup. The cafe doesn't stint on the bread either (fresh soft brown wholemeal - spot on) so we had plenty to eat. There were two downsides though which detracted a bit: all the radiators were cold when we came back at lunchtime, so the cafe wasn't anything like as warm and welcoming as we'd hoped, and then the towels had run out in one of the loos. The latter wasn't a major problem, but the lack of heating was a definite turn-off. Bit of a shame, and we hope the cafe will read this review and do something about that for others in the future.

Called in on our way home from holiday, starving and looking for a good cooked English breakfast. The cafe is in an ideal spot and I would suggest great for tourists etc, however our breakfast was not that great. 1 sausage, 1 fried egg, 2 rashers of bacon, half a tomato, small portion of beans, mushrooms and a slice of black pudding ....sounds a lot but it wasnt.served on a smaller than average plate the egg yolk was 50% hard so had been cooking for a while. The sausages are quite herby, not my cup of tea but the worst thing was it arrived luke warm. I returned it to be re heated but still didn't come back piping hot. We were afforded an apology and a coffee refill, but the coffee was bitter and so declined. Another couple who also came in for breakfast returned some of their plate to be heated up and I noticed as we left that the woman had left her sausage.

Lovely cafe. Lovely place to watch the birds. Lovely food. Simply lovely. Would recommend to everyone.

Beautifully decorated with blazing log fires and a welcome to match, this pub is probably the best in the area. Great menu at realistic prices and unsurpassed quality and presentation - what’s not to like. We could not fault anything - thanks to all the staff for a wonderful evening.

The food was dreadful and expensive. Can’t say it any plainer. Schnitzel was burnt and poorly presented. Pasted was soggy. The very worst was the waffles which had been microwaved and were solid! Just the two us for a birthday meal with one drink each and it cost £91!
