Cafe Nero in Winchester

I find it despicable that dogs are allowed in these places. When I went in, there were dogs in chairs.....really? So, now non dog owners have to sit in smelly seats, covered in dog hair and potentially fleas! Sorry, dogs outside of any shop. Especially food outlets. NERO, who do I take to court when I get bitten by a dog? You or the dog owner? I shouldn't have to eat or drink food in the presence of other people's animals. I have a Shetland pony as my pet, can I bring her in? If not, why? A pet is a pet right! I will never visit this disgusting shop again........

I should have asked for the name of the employer who served me today. He was sp kind to me and helped me out today. The service was splendid. My phone battery died I had just 20p off the cash I had and he let me go. I will be coming back with a tip next time. I appreciate the kind gesture.

This cafe is absolutely disgusting, it's filthy,will never set foot in again.No tables cleaned and crockery removed.Beneath tables dirt,filthy floors.Looks as though never been cleaned.It needs a visit from H&S

Visited for a quick drink with friends. Firstly, entering the place is a joke! You have to press an automatic door button, rather than just pulling the door. The amount of people including me, failing to get in the place is ridiculous! Only upon paying did I start to notice the cleanliness! This place is filthy! The card machine was so dusty and marked with a dried on liquid. The sofas all appeared highly soiled and marked. Dust all over, just pure filth! Needs a bloody good clean! Disgraceful! Won’t be returning!

Absolutely awful experience. After ordering a drink I noticed how filthy the place was. The sink was covered in limescale and grime, the washing up sponge was heavily soiled and the ice scoop was sitting in a dirty jug filled with a murky liquid. The manager was unapologetic and couldn’t see the problem. I took a refund and left.

Queued for 45 minutes (!) to get 2 coffees - one of which was served in a paper cup because they'd "run out of cups"! I can see why they'd run out of cups - they were littered across the uncleared tables! You need more staff. Those that were there spent most of their time making up orders for collection - leaving eat-in customers queued out of the door. Never again. Plenty of other coffee shops around.

While the coffees we had were very nice, the overall atmosphere of this cafe was disappointing. We had to repeat our order to the staff three times for them to charge us the correct amount. Not to mention, our table was dirty. We were shocked to see that dogs were allowed in the cafe. Surely, this cannot be hygienic?! One of the dogs in particular, appeared aggressive in nature. I recommend saving yourself the unnecessary stress this Caffe Nero causes and going to Costa or Starbucks instead.

Awful flat white this place has gone downhill fast with prices rising. £3.25 to have a flat white in but only allowed a takeaway cup. The flat white was just frothed up like a cappuccino with the jug just sat on the drip tray and not held and angled under the steam arm as it should be to get the right velvet milk consistency for a flat white. Visited 12 Jan 23 ong queues and not enough staff. This store needs to be managed properly. I work in the coffee industry and these chains are now getting worse very quickly. Waste of money real shame as it was good once

Yesterday 29th November was so looking forward to my morning coffee and toasted tea cake after a really busy morning. Ordered my flat white handed the toasted teacake to the assitant. She took my payment for both. my flat white appeared on the counter in a paper take away cup. I said I was eating in she replied yes okay we don't have any staff so all take away containers toda.y This was followed by my toasted tea cake in a paper bag with butter and a plastic knife. If I had wanted a picnic I would have organised one. What really annoys me about this if they had told me when I placed my order I would probably have gone somewhere else in Whitely. But I was not given this information up front, very sneaky and bad Customer service Neros sort it out I will never go back to Nero

Love this place it's always quick and there is often seating.im not a fan of the sun turning the glass building into a green house but that can't be helped. the staff are friendly and very competent

Coffee choices excellent - especially seasonal ones! Bacon rolls OK (was end of day !) Staff friendly - although the lady cleaning tables did now wear a mask

A dump that serves vile coffee and stale pastries. Plenty of alternatives in Whitely, which will appreciate your custom.

Felt like there were a few too many tables inside the Whiteley Nero last week. We were sat ok but others seemed quite close. Needs some more tables to be removed. Drinks were fine but choc chip muffin a bit dry.

Nice coffee and cold drinks, nice ambiance. Staff friendly. Clean place. Seats available outdoors if required.

Track and trace details are not required to be given if using take out option. Your staff are clearly not aware of current guidelines. How many people have unwittingly given their details when not required to do so...in any case passing details is voluntary..go to the NHS track and trace website, see portion in photo..

I’m really not comfortable having dogs where there is food. Bags of crisps were stacked so near to the floor that dogs could easily get access to the packets, also where some drinks were stored was the same. A dog could easily contaminate a packet of crisps and then that could easily cross contaminate to a person touching the bag of crisps and eating them. Is this level of potential contamination allowed? What a shame. I will not go there again while this situation exists. For me personally this is far from hygienic.

This was once our favourite cafe because of the great coffee but now it’s gone downhill.The standard of general cleanliness is extremely poor, dirty tables wiped with a filthy cloth and no D10 cleaner ever used. Chairs,floor,surfaces all areas that should be cleaned regularly seem to be untouched.Dogs allowed on chairs! When was this ever allowed in a cafe?The whole cafe needs a massive deep clean. Who is the manager? The girls are running the cafe but no one is steering the sinking ship.Come on Cafe Nero, look up the road and see how Costa are doing it!Big shame because most of the other branches we visit are so much better and we deserve better too!

Was there on a cold day, got myself a cup of coffee and a little cupuccino cake, very tasty, nice cofee too. Was a bit crowded just too bad there aren't more places to sit inside.

I last reviewed this cafe in Oct 2018 and gave it two out of five, sadly it has not improved. The standard of cleaning is terrible, if it gets cleaned at all. Just look at any shelf or ledge or pot plants and look at the dust levels. Also look at the floor at any time, under the tabled between the seats etc. it is filthy, rubbish everywhere and has been so for a long time. Also please wipe tables more often during the day.My wife and I have always loved the Nero brand and still do for the standard things one gets in all Nero Cafe's, their food, drinks, classical music, relaxed atmosphere. However its the variables by store which really matter such as hygiene and cleanliness, customer service, friendliness of staff and the personal touches that really make the differences. This is down to the store management, at Whiteley Village they no longer care and have not for over two years now since the then franchise manager moved or was moved to another store.Another touch, for several years, there were always daily newspapers sourced from the nearby supermarket, usually the Times and The Daily Mail; for several months now nothing. On two occasions I asked about papers and was given a response "customers must have taken them" ... not true, they had not been supplied and the staff member knew that.So, to summarise in a message to the staff or manager which I hope gets read and actioned:1) Please clean the place up thoroughly, and do you own staff inspections every day.2) Buy the newspapers at the start of the day, or remove the wooden rack if you plan to no longer supply (which would be a great shame)3) Staff need to be more friendly and personable, a few smiles and more focus on customer experience.Sorry I cannot be more positive, but you have had no five out of five ratings on TripAdvisor at this Cafe for over a year, you need to significantly up your game.

Take out to go to cinema. Hot chocolate had to be returned as Luke warm, replaced hassle free. Issues with app in store as voucher would mot redeem, down to signal I now understand. Drinks not up to usual high standards today, hopefully a one off.

Coffee is good as is the food but the service here in particular is snails pace. I don’t understand how they can make it so slow but they manage it. The system doesn’t work, always a huge queue which takes ages to get dealt with. Average wait time is about 10-15 mins at weekends. Other coffee shops manage to serve you quicker so I don’t really get how they can’t work it out here!!

I go here with friends often. Staff are friendly and always pleased to see you. Coffee is good. Great atmosphere

Popped in for a quick coffee to warm up on a snow day. It was good because dogs were allowed in and could sit with their owners. My latte was good, maybe just a little strong for my liking but im sure if asked, it could have been made with less coffee. Nice coffee shop in Whiteley village.

Dropped in as COSTA once again queued out the door - good quality coffee and quick service. Restaurant area clean and well presented. Only comment would be latte was strong when compared to COSTA - next time will ask for single shot. Being a COSTA regular this has given me another good option.....

Polite friendly service. Delicious coffees, Milk in a jug, hot or cold. trays on which to carry the coffees. napkins e.t.c Superb.We were there just prior to their closing, but we were made to feel welcome.

I visit about once a month, and the service is always good. Coffee is always tasty, and the staff friendly.

Sunday Morning break , Latte, Hot Chocolate with Almond Croissants, this is a very busy but well run Cafe with very helpful staff. We were there with our dog and this did not seem a problem

This used to be such a great cafe embracing the spirit of all that is good about the Nero Chain. We have visited this particular cafe about two or three times a month at breakfast time for the last five years. The food and drink is standard throughout the Nero outlets and we have no complaint with that nor with the beautiful classical music and all things Nero. Its the management and maintenance which has become an issue.

This is a nice cosy cafe where it is nice to sit and read the paper and watch the world go by. Really enjoy their cappuccino cake with a decent hot chocolate. Friendly staff as well. It does get quite busy and seating is quite limited so you may struggle at peak times.

Lovely coffee and staff but oh dear the cloth chairs are filthy and in need of a deep clean or better still replacing, such a shame as it will put customers off, we had aimed for the comfy chairs but soon moved, and until they are sorted we will avoid at all costs.

The toasted ciabatta ham and cheese is all very average, and tooted up with a few other items, Cost is very very expensive - £8 for a snack. The place is tidy but deep down, isn't really clean.

Why do I have to wait 15 minutes for an espresso? It seemed to be because the staff want to chat about anything with their regular customers and not concentrate on just serving the coffee. Also the place was filthy. Spilt coffee on the serving surfaces and most tables not cleared. Not good at all. I used to live in Italy and Italians would not tolerate this level of service.

Friendly staff, roomy and comfortable, reasonably priced coffee and delicious granola yogurt, visit here every time I am in Whiteley for a coffee, definitely recommend this place for coffee and a cake

Caffe Nero is my favourite coffee house anyway but you always get a really good coffee and great service at Whiteley. Slightly cramped seating but really good coffee so can cope!

Costa is Costa; food is Costa food; coffee is never just hot enough for some reason; the assembling of a latte is delicate art when done so by hyper-experienced baristas; Costa just never seems to get to that standard.

Given the amount of snow on the ground I did get out and went to Whiteley for a coffee. Very enjoyable as usual and freshly made pastry.

Cafe Nero staff at Whiteley has some great staff, because it gets very busy. A lot of customers use the app on their phones and this helps speed things along while they make the great coffee.

Friendly service every time and always great coffee. Love the cheesecakes here orange chocolate is far the best.

Called in for coffee's to go as off to flicks - quick service, with a smile and engaging staff. Coffee up to usual high Nero standards. As I have said before they do what they do here very well.

Love the coffee experience enjoy the food, the staff always pleasant, beverages normally to a high standard if not how you like it will be remade to your requirements with no problem, and you can take your dog inside.

My friend and I visited for coffee this morning. Sorry but I'm allergic to dogs, and so was pretty horrified to be virtually surrounded. Nothing against dogs really but am a bit mystified as to them being inside here. Coffee was ok but we moved to Costa because of the dogs, was a bit like being in a vets waiting room, perhaps they could have a designated area, don't get me wrong I love dogs but can't actually go near them indoors as they can trigger an asthma attack and bring my eyes up like balloons.

I love this place its always friendly and welcoming. They have a fab selection of cakes etc and the prices are lower then some other places. Nice outside area where you can people watch and enjoy coffee and cake. Will be back soon!

As a regard patron of Cafe Nero in Whiteley I am lucky enough to enjoy both the friendly hospitality and great coffee.Cafe Nero is also dog friendly so an ideal place for our four legged friends to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere if not the coffee.Tentative staff and clean welcoming surroundings

So there were 2 members of staff in when Nero's opened. 1 young well mannered guy and 1 older non-morning person female staff member. Seems to be that the lady staff members new policy is friends welcome at a few mins before opening, even when you clearly open the door in front of waiting customers. Tell the customers to go away and serve friends/family.The lady was still rude throughout the whole experience, the young guy however did everything he could to be welcoming,polite , helpful etc Perhaps its simply that the lady doesnt like opening hours and should instead be placed on closing hour shifts.The food/drinks were good, just let down by the non hospitable female staff member.

Always a good experience at Cafe Nero, always enjoy the coffee here, dark and strong. Ok, we were there early in the morning so didn't have to wait long to be served.

Nero is well located and has a Good choice of pastries and meal. Coffees in my view are probably best between Costa and Starbucks. A good place to relax early morning!

This is a lovely place to have your morning coffee. Calm classical music is played in the background, ideal to get you going for the rest of the day. It's a very calm and pleasant atmosphere. The coffee is delicious (much better than any Starbucks) and the food they have to offer is just right and delicious. What's an added bonus is it is dog friendly, so you can take your 4 legged friend in too.

Always a popular venue, staff attentive and premises kept very tidy despite the ever flowing influx of customers.This is a coffee chain store but they staff are very attentive and welcoming.

Normal type of Cafe Nero's which I feel are expensive. The selection of coffees are good, and the cakes are reasonable, but not cheap. The place was clean seating not bad. I must say these personally are not my favourite places and I reluctantly had to meet someone there.

Caffe Nero without doubt always serves the best coffee. Service here is quick and friendly as you would expect. Cake is lush and the surroundings are clean and comfortable .

This is the first time I have visited this place & it is in an ideal area just across from cineworld & car park. It was mid morning on a weekday & I only had a coffee with my wife & have no complaints about service or cleanliness etc. My visit was only marred by a very rude woman customer who's remark to barrister was very condesending & who later took it out on the seat she sat in. So 'Mikey' I bow to your professionalism in this matter. When I am in the area again I will definately call in for a relaxing coffee etc.

Always go to Nero where the Food and drink is of excellent quality. Staff and service excellent as usual.

Visited with friends for a hot chocolate, this is a great corner for people watching! The hot chocolate is rated 3/5... Rather strange to allow dogs inside the café, personal preference really

Hubby and me had to do something in Whitley shopping centre and we used this opportunity to have a seat for a cup of coffee; I wish I could sit outside, but it was a bit windy; I liked the place; you can sit next to the window and watch the crowd or you can hide in the corner and read a book or browse on internet; we treated ourselves good with a muffin an a slice of red velvet cake - all fresh and tasty; hot chocolate and tea were nice as well; the man behind the bar was very friendly; big sofas - nice and cozy; not too many people if you go on a weekly day; one toilet only, but its understandable as the place is not very big; good location - next to the car park; free wi-fi; good choice for a chain cafe.

This is a nice coffee shop which serves excellent coffee. What lets it down however is the chain feel, the girl on the till attempted to sell me a larger sized coffee and a cake, neither of which I wanted. I don't enjoy a hard sell, I just want what I asked for. This doesn't happen with every member of staff to be fair, but it can make ordering a chore depending on who serves you. Call me fussy but I only want what I asked for.

Went to this store with my children during the day as was in whitely. Only to see all staff stood chatting. Most of the Tables were dirty.Whilst sat drinking my coffee could hear staff moaning about another employee or ex employee should I say. Was very unprofessional!! Won't be going back after this! I think it's appalling that they could say what they did with customers sat so near to them!

Very nice staff inside and a good place to chill out. The coffee is up to standard too. There are lots of snacks and cold drinks to choose from to.

I find Cafe Nero is one of the better chains for coffee and I'd normally seek out an independent coffee shop, however I was with my family and we had just been to the indoor climbing centre opposite so this was an easy choice, especially as I hadn't researched the area for a good alternative.The coffee and cakes were good and the going price for a place like this, so what else is there to say.
