CAFE NAAZ in Rotherham

Based in an ex coal mining town you have to be impressed at the building, stone fronted and exceptionally presented. Beautifully presented inside as well. Staff, very well presented and professional throughout. You just have to have poppadoms dont you ? Amazing, no yesterday's leftovers here, as was the pickle tray, best I have experienced in a long time. Starters (basically chicken chatt) on the cool side but still very good. Main course Kahala Ghost with pillau rice was exceptionally good. Great service throughout made extra special chatting to the owner. Great range of drinks (no real ale) and in good condition. Toilets were clean and had all the necessaries. Our party arrived at 17:30 on a Friday evening in January, the atmosphere built rapidly from being the first in to buzzing in 15mins ( forewarned is forearmed) book a table. This was my first visit and definitely will not be my last. Hope you enjoy as much as we did xx

Came here for the first time with friends on an evening out. The restaurant looks nice and well set out. The drinks were very expensive though and you can only pay in cash for drinks, which made it inconvenient for some who had only brought their cards to pay. The food was OK but was lukewarm when it arrived, it wasn't hot. Most of the rice bowls had chips in them but when this was mentioned to the staff it wasn't taken seriously. Have tried it once but, unfortunately, won't go again due to mediocre food and chipped bowls.

Came here with 9 other friends mid week, first impressions the restaurant is lovely inside however the tables are placed far too tight together. Good tasting larger however the head was that big it needed a flake. Considering the restaurant was empty the starters didn’t arrive for a long time and when they did come they was cold and dry. However the main meals were excellent only negative would be the small rice portions and the nan bread was small and dry. Staff was ok

Meal and service excellent. We’re kind enough to hold our table as I broke down on the way and had to bring some of the party by taxi and also for letting me bring a birthday cake and bringing this out Booking was a faff as they wouldn’t let me do this online and when I phoned I had to go into the restaurant in advance to pay a deposit. I totally understand the need for a deposit as large groups not turning up but it was a 20 mile round trip because they don’t take card payments over the phone or have the facility to do this via their online booking facility but that was the only negative point

First visit here and being a bit of a curry connusieure and having visited many Asian restaurants over the years l can most definately recommend Cafe Naaz as a place to eat an excellent curry. In fairness the starter was very ordinary and quite standard stuff but the main course was an absolute delight. Extremely flavoursome and well cooked. I must also add that the staff were very polite and helpful/attentive and nothing seemed too much trouble. I will definitely go back as l really enjoyed it. A good experience!

Just eaten here for the second time in a week and both experiences were the best. Super tasty food and such great staff. Cant wait till next time

I love Cafe Naaz! My husband and I come for a meal every time we’re visiting his mum in nearby Wentworth and are never disappointed. Everything we ordered last night was lovely, but the aubergine bhaji and braised lamb shank were the stand out dishes. Amazing food, nice ambiance and lovely staff will keep us coming back to Cafe Naaz.

Great food, top notch curry. Service and comfort, drinks and ambience excellent. However i do have one point to make- the naan bread, though delicious, is very small, only just enough for one small appetite. Compared to many other restaurants its a shame. Easy changed, its onmy a little extra dough! One thurd bigger and this would esrn 5 stars

The welcome matched that of the service and food quality. Amazing experience. The ingredients are fresh, the service and timely manner in which it is served is better. There were large table orders at the same as mine and came out prompt. Literally the best Indian cuisine in Yorkshire. FACT

Came for a family meal and felt rushed to our table, no mocktails even on the menu, what is served isnt on the menu, had to ask on several occasions where our drinks were, rudeness from staff except for two, when our bill finally arrived...

We arrived as a family of 4 on a very busy saturday night. The food was great as always, and the team worked very hard all night. However they haven't reduced capacity and spread out the tables for safe distancing. In addition there are lots of people hanging around in the bar area waiting for takeaways as well as customers waiting to be seated. To get to the toilets you had to squeeze past a table and the whole restaurant isnt well ventilated. Unfortunately for everyone there were also two tables of 6 who all knew each other - all men on a night out together and they were busy swapping tables, standing up chatting and generally making a mess. Maybe better on a different night of the week. It's a great restaurant under normal circumstances.

Spontaneously decided to pay Cafe Naaz a visit after not attending for over a year. We phoned last minute and managed to get a table. Yet again, was not disappointed with the food, prices or service. I had the butter chicken which was delicious and servings were generous. Staff were particularly attentive and friendly and a credit to the place!

This is one of the best Indian restaurants I have visited, we went for my sons birthday and none of the guests were disappointed, there was 8 in the party and the food and service was wonderful, well worth a visit

Just been to Cafe Naaz with my family and we were very disappointed. We have been on numerous occasions and never had any issues but we found the service terrible. We had only just given our name when walking in and was immediately told “ you have to leave your table for 8pm” ( this gave us an hour and half but I didn’t appreciate being told when to leave when we hadn’t even sat down) the waiters were rude and were clearly rushing us throughout our stay. There wasn’t a friendly welcome or any polite conversation or goodbye. We won’t be going again and wouldn’t recommend. The food was satisfactory.

Having eaten at Cafe Naaz on several occasions both pre and post lockdown, when we found out that they had signed up to the Eat out to help out scheme, we were keen to go again.The restaurant was busy and service was a little hit and miss (forgetting drinks orders, food coming out at different times etc), the food however was up to the usual very good standard. A sour taste was left however when we received our bill... a service charge had been added (approx 10%of the bill total). There was no mention of a compulsory or discretionary charge on any of the menu's and this has never been added before. When we asked what this was in the bill (as it wasn't clear) we requested that this be taken off as we like to decide what gratuity to leave ... This was met with some resistance from the manager who said they had added it as they had brought in extra staff due to the numbers dining! (Surely extra diners bring in extra income anyway?).We always leave tips for good service, but on this occasion the service fell somewhat short and the automatic adding of this charge irritated us a little.Would we dine here again? Yes! But we will check the bill thoroughly before settling up.

Terrible service from start to finish, we turned up on time to be told to come back in 20 minutes and the later we could come back the better it would be, we come back 20 minutes late to find out our table was still not ready. We got our starters and asked for sauces they didn’t arrive until after we had finished our starters, then we got our mains and our naans came after we had finished after we had asked numerous times where they are. When we’d finished we discovered a service charge on our bill, as we questioned this and explained we don’t mind paying tip if the service is well and true, we were then told that the government was taking 50% off them (which we all know isn’t true) and that with the current situation they had to get more staff in to cope with the demand, so they had to apply a service charge of more than £20+.

Just been to cafe Naz for first time since lockdown and had fantastic meal. This is definitely the best Indian restaurant around. Social distancing was really well sorted and staff were very attentive . Had a curry from the new special menu and it was perfect. Deeeeeelucious!!!!

Awful experience from start to finish. Had to wait a good while for our table which was booked a week in advance. Food took forever to come out, and came out at random times. The worst thing by far was the price. We paid £84 between four of us on a Tuesday night which was supposed to be 50% off. We only had 1 / 2 drinks each. No one can tell me we would have spent over £160 on a regular night without the 50% off. The bill was impossible to understand and the staff refused to take the service charge off, despite the poor service. Hate to slate local businesses but I would not recommended this place to anyone. While we were there a staff member told a customer to F*ck off as she was leaving, which just summed up the night.

We have eaten here many times over the past few years, but tonight was our first post lockdown visit. We had one of the best nights! Service was faultless and 'safe'. Food was, as always, superb. The addition of a specials menu was a welcome addition, but for me, the new cocktail menu was the winner. The Pornstar martinis were the best I have had. If, like me, you have adhered to months of lockdown, take social distancing seriously and might be worried about venturing out to eat, don't. This is a venue that has clearly worked hard at making sure their clients are safe, while maintaining the usual high standards of cooking. A genuine 5 stars, pity I can't award more. 100% recommended.

Another wonderful meal at Cafe Naaz, this time accompanied by some fantastic cocktails. The attention the detail is always first class and the quality of the food is superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant, in these Covid times every precaution was take and we felt very safe dining here.

Had a post lockdown meal here and have to say it was simply superb. Unexpected but very pleasant twists on traditional flavours really do set this restaurant apart from others we have visited. And the cocktail ordered from their new menu was incredible. I have to say the chef and bar manager combine to make this not only a great atmosphere, but a dining experience several levels above the mainstream. Without a doubt our new "go to" place for Indian food.See you all again very soon

Great food and service. All expected social distancing and hygiene measures in place.I would recommend the cocktails (two for one when we were there) and the specials menu that had some unusual dishes. Lamb cooked for 48 hours. Friendly waiters and no pressure to eat quickly with plenty of time between courses. It was quite a journey for me to get there, but I'd definitely make a return trip.

Food is amazing here, the server, Niz, was very attentive to our needs. If you’re in Wath, book in here, it’s safe and clean and just overall a really good experience. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Had a takeaway tonight as a belated birthday tea, what an amazing meal it was! Order was taken and guy was polite and efficient, checking everything I said to make sure. When it arrived it was hot and so tasty. The Naz special was delicious as always! So happy to have had a lockdown treat. Can’t wait to come back to the restaurant once it’s open. After poor experiences of Indian restaurants we have not had Indian food for years but after numerous recommendations we decided to try one so glad we did due to covid 19 we had a takeaway what a great experience the food was great the front desk was so helpful and very courteous and polite we shall definitely be having more from cafe naaz

I’ve eaten at Café Naaz twice. Once in the restaurant before lockdown and, more recently, I had a takeaway whilst travelling to Sheffield. The food really speaks for itself here, it was fantastic. You can tell that only fresh, high quality ingredients are used to produce authentic and beautifully presented food. Service was on hand, and the interior is warm and inviting. The takeaway was brilliant as well; no difference in taste and it was still hot when I got to Sheffield.Try it!

Went for a curry and hands down it was the best curry. First course came and then the second course came. Third course came and then came the fourth course. Lovely food. Fourth course came before the fifth and the poppadoms came too but they came before the first course. Dips were outstanding. We had to get more dips. So we got more dips and more poppadoms. Now the daal mass. This was a vegetable side made from cauliflower, lentils, celery, onions, peas and beans. It had a very very mild heat and a curry flavour what would suit anyone who knows how good Naz’s chefs food is and would definitely order it again as a side to share or possibly as a main vegetarian dish.Just a quick note for anyone who hasn’t eaten in at the restaurant then you’re definitely missing out.Hope to see you guys again soon when all this lock down is over as we will be popping down to eat in.All the best

We ordered a takeaway for a specific time - and it arrived exactly on time! The food was great as it always is - and the takeaway service for Covid was very efficient. We'll be back eating in as soon as we can!

Easily ordered on the phone for collection. Upon arrival friendly staff made sure nobody was already inside and invited me in. Food was ready on time and promplty brought through to me. Once home and opening containers the smell was mouthwatering. And taste did not disappoint either. Heard they have a new award winning head chef and he appears to have created some inspiring flavours. Was our visit order from here but will now make this our regular for Indian food. Especially now they have introduced a delivery service.

Recommend by others and I had to try it out and was not disappointed. Arguably the best in Rotherham

Saturday night nightmare went to cafe naaz for my brothers birthday after reading reviews and a recommendation from friends lovely restaurant but that’s about headless waiters with no customer service nor even a smile as if they were forced to work food was rushed chicken tasted like rubber first and last for me would not recommend this restaurant

I found this place to be overrated. The staff are rude and aloof, both the food and drinks orders was wrong and neither was corrected just shrugged off; when the waiter realised the food order was wrong he tried to convince us the dish was what was had been ordered!! Both starter and main came out just warm but they was tasty and pretty reasonably priced. They are very quick to whisk your table off you for the next customer, I get the feeling they over book the restaurant from my recent experience and other reviews. Car parking is also very limited.

Had a few meals here before and always enjoy lyes the food but the staff aren’t very friendly, but wasn’t too put off by this until today, i rang to book a table for two and was told I can have one for 6 but we must eat and leave for 7?! Who wants to be rushed to have an evening out?!

Booked here for New Year’s Eve at 8pm , we are regular visitors and usually get good service but on this occasion was served the wrong food and although this was corrected after finishing our meal after 1 hour was asked if we could leave the table and sit in the bar area with our drinks , which we had just ordered , when we got to the bar area there were no seats but when complained were just told they were busy , we were not even given the chance to order desert , really disappointed and shall not be returning , they were more concerned with taking money than customer satisfaction.

8 of us ate there, 5 of 8 were happy with quality of food, 3 were not. Chicken Tikka Masala - way too sweet. Tandori Chicken tasteless - a dull brown colour, not orange or red as expected. Pilar Rice un recognizable. Garlic Naan - very average. Overall experience - disappointing.

Having read some reviews on the restaurant I decided too book a table for me and wife on Christmas Eve as that’s what we’ve done for a while.

Working in area and we always look out for a curry house and found this place and so glad we did. Very friendly staff and really nice restaurant and the food is absolutely spot on. Ate here a couple of times and food excellent on both occasions. Back working in area soon so will definitely be back give this place a try you won’t be disappointed. Thanks to all at cafe Naaz

Our first visit to Cafe Naaz was at the beginning of July this year with some friends. Up until that time we had never heard of the place, however we have since visited another four times and each time the food, service and atmosphere have been consistently good.

It’s been a year or two since we last visited Cafe Naaz so we made on impromptu visit a week ago and we are delighted to say that nothing has changed and that the decor, staff and particularly the food are still excellent.The service was very good even though the place was busy and everything went very smoothly.

Cafe Naaz is a bit if a hidden gem. Located in the centre of Wath-on-Dearne its tucked away from passing traffic. But well worth searching out.

Seemed like a nice enough place initially, 14 of us went for dinner at short notice and were surprised (and delighted!) to find they had the space for all of us on a Friday night. We were disappointed, however, to find that a lot of the mains were oversweetened to the point of inedibility - the Butter Chicken Delight and the Chicken Makoni especially so. What really ruined the evening was when a friend received his meal cold and asked politely if it could be warmed up a bit. It was taken away and never came back. When he asked where it was and whether it was coming back the chef came out and was extremely rude, denying it was his fault (we knew that!) and vehemently denying that he had asked for it to be brought back at all. Really disappointing as we'd heard good things about the place. I should add that a couple of the group were happy with their food, so guess it was just the majority of us that weren't satisfied.

This is by far the best Indian me and my partner have had. The food was fresh and well presented. The service was brilliant. The staff were so warm & friendly. We can't wait to go back again. Would highly recommend

Walked over to Cafe Naaz whole staying at HIx - about ten minutes and easy walk. Mixed starter was really good. Delicately marinated chicken was not dry at all. Lovely bhuna ... accompanied by a freshly, perfectly cooked Nan. Would definitely use Naaz again.
