I wasn't sure about this, I've tried coffee shops in the past that have facilities for other activities too and I was sorely disappointed every time. I went to cafe matariki for a quick cup of coffee...the place was not very welcoming, it's ''ocean breeze'' themed...white walls, turquoise chairs etc. nothing cosy or inviting or relaxing...there is also an area with yoga merch...didn't enjoy the coffee as well. I understand the need for more vegetarian/vegan places and although this place might seem like heaven on earth for vegetarian/vegan people...I'll simply pass!

Spent an amazing lunch break here. Sampled the homemade carrot and coriander soup which was delicious and accompanied by a fulfilling slice of sourdough bread. Then the cake which was divine! Would definitely recommend, gluten free and vegan options available. Will return to this hidden treasure. Just hope I can get a seat in the future!

This is a small restaurant / café that’s part of a yoga studio which serves, to quote Craig Revel Horwood, “fab-u-lous” food. I’m hooked and come in here most days for lunch. There’s a great choice of homemade soups, salads, toasties, strudel, fratata as well as a selection of cakes, coffee, teas and juices. I’ve tried most dishes and they’re all great tasting. If you like top notch healthy food, I highly recommend giving it a go. One day I may even try the yoga 😊

We enjoyed coffee outside by the water. Service was good and it is clean and roomy inside. The food looked nice and fresh so will have to eat there at some point!

Tucked away among the buildings on the far side of Castle Bridge, this is perfect little hideaway for a coffee on the way to work. I had a lovely, rich macchiato and was pleasantly surprised to find it accompanied by a carafe of rosemary infused water. Perfect for a warm May morning looking out over the water.

Returning to Bristol for an occasional visit and sought out one of my favourite cafes anywhere... on the water, superb fresh food, home-prepared and you can really taste that. However - completely HORRIFIED to read the review by prosiek04 because I am sure I was there on that occasion, unless the poor staff have had to put up with such behaviour more than once. Two very rude customers (actually I don't think they were customers at all - just freeloaders using the WC there). Unbelievable unsuitable behaviour when the cafe staff asked them to make way for a customer in need of their WC once they had monopolised it for half an hour - then they barged out, banking into me, my chair and my table on the way. All I can say is the entire group of cafe customers was totally on the side of the cafe staff who were treated very badly indeed. It will always be my chosen port of call on my visits to Bristol - so nice and so, so tasty.

If you're looking for kindness, hospitality and sense of community spirit– concepts I associate with the yoga lifestyle, you won't find it in the Matariki Café, part of the Pacific Yoga centre. Last Saturday my husband, my 15 months old daughter and I went for a stroll in the centre of Bristol. We realised that our daughter needed a nappy change and we didn't want to delay it as her bum was a bit sore that day. We were just passing the Matariki café and decided to use their baby changing facilities. The café was almost empty, we went into the toilet and started changing our daughter’s nappy. She wasn’t happy because of her sore bum and so was crying. Suddenly we heard banging on the toilet’s door – and as it later turned out, the owner of the café, was telling us in a very aggressive manner to hurry up because there was an actual guest of the café that needed to use their toilet. When we left the toilet my husband demanded to speak to the person that shouted at us through the door. The owner joined by her partner were very aggressive in telling us that we didn't have the right to change our daughter’s nappy in their baby changing facility without paying them first. This aggression included the owner of the café waving her finger in front of me and my daughter who was in my arms in such manner that my daughter had to push the woman’s hand away. Since our daughter was born, whenever we had to urgently use changing facilities in the many cafes of Bristol we were always met with kindness and understanding. In this respect our experience of the Matariki café is thankfully unique.
