Cafe Marmalade in Portsmouth

Was excited to try this place especially with the social media advertising for it, the food was fine but came quickly, disappointed at the lack of vegetarian options or fish options. The waitress was extremely rude, when ordering she was extremely patronising, and then came over and told us to be quiet in a cafe where people come to have a chat and a laugh with their friends. Really ruined the experience, her general attitude was rude and not welcoming. Will not be returning and recommending for others not to come!

The food was good and came quickly, but we were told to be quieter, which really ruined the experience for me. I didn’t feel welcome at all. Definitely not coming back.

Came with few friends. Food was alright, not much halal or vegan options. No smoked salmon. Mostly bacon, eggs, bread. Cant be talking loudly at the cafe, we were told off by the waiter - vibes were ruined. Our waiter was unfriendly too. Would i come here again? Never again.

Love going here with my family, staff are always friendly and the food is delicious!

Lovely little space, caters for gluten free

Coffee lovely. Half the menu advertised. Poor service back in 5 minutes .After more than 20mins for meal order we had to ask. Asked for more drinks and they forgot had to ask again and after giving us a free tea . She had a poor attitude I haven't charged you. Should be happy with that. Not the best customer service.

Very welcoming staff! Dog friendly, cosy looking place to have some breakfast. (Puppy had the dollop of cream off the pancakes 🥞) food was yummy. Sorry i didn't take a picture this time. If i could make a suggestion maybe have a bowl of water for the furry friends 🧡 And a personal opinion... the background music. On our visit was rock music.

The food is really nice, always smells/taste amazing there is more seating in the back. From the outside looks small but is not. The staff is moody sometimes.

A great place, very impressed with the big breakfast + black pud. Service was spot on. "STRAIGHT OUTTA COPNOR" as it says on the menu.

This was my first visit to Copnor Kitchen, I went with a friend and we had a fantastic breakfast.

In the mood for a good breakfast, then you are spoilt for choice on the Copnor Road in Portsmouth. There are plenty of cafes to choose from, so why the Copnor Kitchen? Reasonable prices Good food Friendly staff Comfy atmosphere How's that for a start 😉👍 The breakfast here is tasty. Be sure to ask for crispy bacon, though. If that's the way you enjoy it, I do. Another bonus here is the baked beans. They are served piping hot, a rarity these days in most cafes, pubs, and restaurants these days. The sausage was interesting too, not your run of the mill cheap breakfast sausage, but not a full-on butchers sausage either. It reminded me of my trips to Poland as a trucker in the 90s. Overall, it was a tasty treat, and it's worth another visit 😋

I've lived in Copnor 3 years now, how I've never been here I don't know! Went today and had the Vegan Breakfast which was delicious, and brilliant value at a tenner. Coffee was great and again decent value at around £2.60. I'll definitely be back 😁

Food was good but black pudding could be a better quality, popularity means theres usually a que to get in as no booking possible.

First time that I have been to copnor kitchen and it's literally on my door step, it was recommended to me by friends & family saying how amazing it is and they weren't wrong, I would 100% recommended this place to anyone, the staff were friendly, polite and the table service was excellent but the main thing was the food it was amazing, we didn't leave a scrap, two very satisfied customers 😀

Food was over the top with sauces and toppings not very warm and to be honest quite expensive, good coffee and lovely staff , very noisy and crowded when we went .

We visited Copnor Kitchen for the first time last week and absolutely loved it. We were served by Matt who was really helpful giving recommendations based on our dietary requirements. The place looked great, super clean but had a rustic feel. That city chic we all love! and the playlist was amazing, all our childhood skatepark bangers. I haven't even mentioned the food yet which was superb, we went for the full vegan and I had the halloumi on sourdough, and both were lush (make sure to get the tater tots!) Drinks were top notch, Copnor Kitchen broke the chain of a string of bad coffees I'd be having recently which a perfect flat white. Thanks again for a great visit! We'll be back!

What a friendly place, great service, relaxed atmosphere, lovely coffee and the food was fresh and delicious. Good portions, good prices and even has places to plug in if you wanted plug in while here. Definitely a hidden gem!

The staff here are lovely, the cafe was bustling but they took care of us so quickly. There are only a few breakfast items marked as vegan, but the quantity and quality were great. This is my favourite cafe, the atmosphere is chilled and relaxed. Food is gorgeous and always well presented. Decor is 50s inspired and very cool too! I'll get photos next time!

Garlic chicken sandwich was lovely, a little messy and filling. Mushroom benedict looked good too.

Went for lunch with work colleagues one member of staff there is very rude she was rude at several occasions before but never tried to notice but now it’s intolerable. Hope she tries her own medicine at some point in life then she we realise. Plenty of cafes in Portsmouth they not the only ones.

Highly recommend the small breakfast!! Oat latte was superb too!! Food is always cooked amazingly, staff are really polite, fun and make the whole experience spot on!! No one else really provides the full experience like Copnor Kitchen!!

Oh my goodness, what amazing food. I will be going back more than once as I need to try all the menu! Maybe I dont get out much but I've never experienced food like some of the choices on the menu. Have been a couple of times without the wife but took her on Saturday and now she's in love too! Well done copnor kitchen, to the staff and the excellent chefs creating breakfasts and brunches to remember for a long time 👍❤️

Absolutely lovely food, really tasty. Reasonably priced. The music 🎶 was a bit heavy for us to listen to but will definitely return. Maybe next time will sit at the front so the music is not so loud.

Wonderful. Always good hearty portions and a varied menu. So popular you need to book a table on a Saturday morning. Dog friendly.

This is not just a random breakfast place on the high street, this is a proper hidden gem. Food was outstanding, the staff were so welcoming, really made my 21st birthday so much better

Waitress took my takeout order today for breakfast I said it's for takeout then 25 min later comes to tell me they don't have containers so couldn't do it. Bad experience

Had a late breakfast here today (28th July). First time visit, was very cautious as the cafe wasn't busy at all. Ordered a big Lenny breakfast and an off menu panini. After 20 minutes wait wondering what we were going to receive our breakfast arrived. I'll tell you now...everything was cooked fresh and could be the best breakfast I've eaten in Portsmouth! Well worth the wait and I will definitely return. The off menu panini was a mozzerella, pesto and tomato panini which came with chips and my partner was more than happy with what she recieved. The latte she ordered was also perfect not bitter at all. The young lady that served us was very polite and friendly and would recommend a visit and the wait for what you receive. Quality products cooked fresh and my eggs were perfect and bacon was still pink not overcooked. If you don't want to wait for freshly cooked and quality produce then try up the road where everything is precooked with a quicker service. For 2 meals and a latte it came to £16. More than worth the money. Will be returning more regularly. Edit: Absolutely gutted! Ordered 2 big Lennie's and a child's meal with drinks. Items on the breakfast were different from what we received before (sausages and bacon ). The bacon was changed from normal to streaky, sausages didn't look like they were of the same quality to normal, no bubble available, eggs well over cooked when we asked for them soft and the beans looked like they had been put in the pots quite a while before. Really disappointed and unfortunately won't be returning to receive the same disappointment. Typically we found somewhere of really good quality and after 3 times it's changed - typical Portsmouth café 😔

Friendly service, nice food and relaxing cafe to visit.

The food was good but the wait for it was well over an hour and they weren't even busy. They also ran out of sausages and didn't tell us, it was only when I asked isn't the meal meant to come with two sausages that they admitted they had run out. They did ask if we wanted anything to replace the sausage but considering how long it takes them to cook anything we assumed it wouldn't arrive until we had finished eating so what was the point. Never waited so long for a fry up in my life it was painful.

Sadly breakfast this morning was terrible! The food took ages, everything was undercooked. Mine came out and my partners took so long I finished by the time it got served. Egg shell in the poached eggs and the fried bread was oil soaked. The fire alarm also went off on 4 occasions! Such a shame as the girls serving were polite and nice ingredients just not cooked for long enough. Really disappointed as other reviewers have been impressed with their visits.

Had a lovely meal at Leonard’s and have been back several times. Staff are so friendly and helpful - once they even went out and bought some soya milk for my tea! Food is delicious and excellent value! Also family friendly!
