Love Portishead Lake. Cafe is a welcome bonus, nice staff and food, all volunteers.

The reason I have given 4 stars instead of five is this is now card payment only. They do not take cash. It's a lovely place for coffee and cake . Snack food only. However dogs are welcome on leads, beautiful view's. Staff are friendly and it's a really lovely place to chat and relax

Friendly place run by volunteers. Great for cakes and coffee. Not much savoury food. 2nd hand books and dvds. Lovely views and nice sofas.

Stopped in for a Coffee whilst walking the Dog around Battery Point in Portishead. Staff very friendly. Great selection of cakes and Sandwiches. Sat outside and enjoyed the view. Great.

Sausage rolls, good coffee and cakes, plus nice view of the channel and a short walk up to battery point, with outdoor seating and parking - ideal for a short stop

This place may be small but it’s the best coffee I’ve had anywhere for a long while. Hot, strong, creamy cappuccino. Just how I like it. Cakes are always really fresh and the service is friendly. Fabulous views, too! Thank you everyone. Much appreciated.

Terrible! Came into the cafe at 3.20pm, ordered coffee & a cake. Literally sat down 10 mins to be told by a member of staff that they are closed & I had to get out!!!! 10mins to drink & eat is apparently sufficient!!?. A member of staff started vacuuming around my feet, then I was told to leave via the fire exit as the front door was closed! I spoke to the duty manager who informed me that they told everyone at 3.25pm, that they would close at 3.30pm. Do they expect everyone to just gobble down their food etc & run out of the door? This is what they were asking. So rude. Seems to me they want your money, then throw you out!! Most appalling service I've ever experienced. If they want everybody out by 3.30pm, they need to stop serving at 3pm. Ridiculous!

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and views from café towards Wales on a clear day

We met with family at the Lido and spent a few hours over coffee scones and sausage rolls catching up. Will definately visit again.

Great place for a coffee the view is fab

Completely unplanned visit. We tried to see the bluebells at Portbury but that was completely overrun! Drove on to Portished and decided to have a coffee in the Lido. The cakes etc looked tempting so we had homemade scones with cream and jam. Delicious and the coffee was first class too. Happy staff added to a lovely atmosphere. The views out of the window are also stunning and complete the picture. I had never previously visited the cafe but we will be back!

Lovely view across the channel, very helpful and friendly staff. They don’t usually take money now though, which isn’t convenient for everyone - but let my friend pay cash rather than card. Busy and friendly

Always great place for a coffee break from the elements in a warm picturesque location unlike any other in portishead. Cappuccino always on top-form (or should I say foam?) & they have a crumblejack that i can never resist. Service is always great, considering it's mostly catered by great volunteers.

A proper cafe, lovely sea views and friendly, helpful staff. As long as you don't want a cooked meal this cafe is ideal. A variety of cakes and toasted teacakes available.

Returning near enough a year on. Same friendly welcome. Over the summer, I've been fed up many other places, with getting grotty, poorly made cups of tea so have been taking a different stance, and I asked the very friendly lady behind the counter how they were to make my tea. What she said was music to my ears "the usual right way that is proper for our customers. We brew your tea with tea bag left in and provide you with a small jug of milk, so you can measure what you want" was the response. I liked that. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with great views.

For my sons birthday I booked a swim and small light lunch for a couple of his friends at the Portishead Lido and Cafe Lido. Its always tricky as my son and his friends have additional needs so it really needs to be a small, flexible and an easy venue. I popped in the day before to see if the Lido cafe could help us with a table of 12 (4 friends and adults) Karen and Lucy couldn't have been more helpful. They made the whole experience easy with no hassle. they gave me a choice of light food and it was all prepared and ready for us when we arrived. The cafe was very busy but the staff were still really helpful and couldn't have done anymore. The pasties were really delicious and went down a treat!! Thanks Cafe Lido x

Nice cafe attached to the swimming pool, nice location overlooking the bay and lighthouse, we had a coffee and cake which were really nice, run mainly by volunteers Staff are extremely pleasant

Ein wunderbarer Ort für einen Tee und Cream Tea an der Promenade von Portishead 🙏. Die Mitarbeiterinnen sind sehr freundlich. Gute Preise 👍 und man hat einen tollen Ausblick ( große Fenster ) auf den Bristol Channel 🚢⛵🌊, Es gibt sogar ein Fernglas, einen Kamin und gemütliche Leder Couches 👍. Wir hatten hier eine tolle Zeit.

I visited here after my walk along the pebbled beach. I had a flat white and a blackberry flapjack very yummy. I sat on the veranda by the pool with my dog. Very dog friendly well behaved dogs welcome. They do sandwiches and some hot food. Nice & relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff mostly volunteers. Highly recommended and also for the scenery.

Wonderful cafe run by volunteers which brings back childhood nostalgia of the seaside. Delicious coffee and cakes on offer as well as baguettes and pasties. A warm and friendly spot to stare out at the sea.

I haven't been since pre-covid, the tables are nicely spaced so pretty safe. Good latte and nice cake. A relaxing way to spend Sunday afternoon.

I set out along the marina and round to Battery Point to begin a walk down the coast; but by the time I reached the Lido, the rain had turned torrential. So I was overjoyed to see the cafe surprisingly open. Apparently, the once derelict Lido's been revived by a group of local volunteers; and here they were operating a cafe too! The rain was rolling down the large windows of the concrete building as I drank my Americano and ate a big chunk of fruit cake looking out to sea. An enjoyable interlude, and I stayed for a second coffee to see out the storm. Two older ladies were running the cafe superbly. Plenty of customers in--good to see in late October. Halloween was coming up, and this cafe had one of the best display efforts I've seen. Another sign it's run with care and dedication.

We stopped by and had tea only although there was a very appetising display of cakes - will try them next time! The service was excellent and friendly.

What an amazing hidden gem of a place this is. 18th Oct - Just called in for afternoon refreshments (what a great of tea too). Met with smiles and staff who were only too pleased to help. The views out across the water, with the afternoon sun, really topped off a lovely afternoon. Thank you all

The coffee here is pretty nice & views are great!

The staff were very unfriendly and unwelcoming, especially the blonde lady making the drinks and the man who was sweeping the floor, getting ready to close. We were told constantly that the place is run by volunteers, but if you're going to run a cafe, regardless as to whether it's paid staff or volunteers, why not make people feel welcome? The attitude was awful and it soon became clear that they wanted to close. The blonde woman, who was the most unfriendly, even came around to everyone telling them the place was closing so we needed to, basically, hurry up. One particular thing was that I asked for a coffee in a cup and saucer. The lady at the till didn't pass this on so it was being made in a takeaway cup so I asked for a cup and saucer again. The blonde lady didn't like this and huffed/puffed. What was very unprofessional is that my daughter could hear them talking about us when I sat down. The prices were steep, too, for the amount of drink given in the cups. Overall, an awful place and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

A good place for a cup of coffee while you watch the world go by. They were kind enough to let us bring our dog inside while we ate our ice creams as it was raining outside. We really appreciated that thanks!

Called in after being disappointed after the Windmill chef was having a day off. But no Sandwiches or hot meals Only Tea,Coffee,cakes Can’t someone make a sandwich anymore, probably just using the Covid excuse, but 3 persons behind the counter doing nothing What is Portishead coming to. What would visitors to this lovely town think when they read this,

A really lovely and friendly atmosphere, the cake was excellent, and the view over the water is amazing. The ladies that were working there were so nice. I hope to come back next time we visit Bristol and have a trip out to Portishead.

Convenient to parkland, children's play area, lake and cricket ground. Stopped off at Cafe Lido on outdoor seating, with view of the outdoor swimming pool. The service was quick and friendly. had choice of tea in takeaway or cups. No pots of tea available. No cooked food available, only cakes, cookies, crisps and snacks.

Open until 3 and right on the sea front! Staff are so lovely and the cakes are exactly what you need after a lovely walk and a sleepy head from the sea air! Thank you

It's a great place for a cheap tea or coffee in place of gordano services, a couple of miles up the road. If you're on a long journey, take a small detour to Portishead instead of stopping the the motorway services. The views are nicer and you'll spend less money!
