Cafe K9 in Sunderland

A fabulous little gem of a café, serving excellent and inexpensive food, by owners who genuinely care about their people and their pets. So many cafes come and go in Washington, and many are ridiculously overrated... But CafeK9 is a place that I feel will be there for some time to come. It is unpretentious but unique in what it offers (meals and events for the dogs, for example), and nothing is too much trouble for these lovely people. CafeK9 is very much an underrated hidden gem, that needs to be found and enjoyed. You don't need to take your dog to appreciate the ambiance - but it helps if you like them!

We usually go on Friday with olly for the shy dog meet and finish it off with a breakfast. Oliver is a fickle boy so will either play with others in the garden or fall asleep on my knee and refuse to be social. Either way the staff are lovely to him and often boost his ego telling him how sweet he is. The food itself is always delicious, genuinely the best breakfast you can get in Washington. Not to mention how wonderful the cakea are, always a great selection so bound to be one we'll enjoy, sometimes it difficult to decide on just one! Brilliant place, lovely staff and great quality food well worth a visit.

K9 cafe is a lovely dog cafe with nice food and a good selection of drinks. Owners are really welcoming and friendly as are other staff. Dogs are able to run around with other dogs in back room. Also a grassy outdoor area with plenty of toys. Fab place ❤️❤️

I would like to say a very big thank you to Helen and Pete at CafeK9 who catered for my son's christening last Sunday 21st April. The food that was done was just excellent and I had lovely compliments off all of my guests loving the food. I would definitely recommend anyone to go to this café as the food is freshly home made and is just amazingly tasty and the staff are really welcoming and wonderful.

I ordered 4 beef dinners from Cafe K9 for the family on Sunday the 11th February 2024. they were absolutely beautiful, all fresh veg, proper mash potatoes. everything home made. Not the first time we have ordered from them and it wont be the last. Thank you Helen and Pete.

We stumbled upon cafe K9 purely by chance and we are really glad we did! The staff at cafe K9 are super friendly and true dog lovers, we felt relaxed straight away. The cafe is comfortable and there is a lovely outdoor area for the dogs to stretch their legs. Our young collies Buzz and Obi tucked into a doggy breakfast and loved it. Myself and my mum had a chicken burger and a veggie burger which were both lovely and amazing value for money. Huge thanks to cafe K9 you’re doing a wonderful job, we would recommend this cafe to any and every dog lover out there!

Visited here for the 2nd time but its a first with my puppy, we joined in the Friday shy pup meet and greet which was perfect for my pup. K9 is a lovely hidden gem for our furry friends. Friendly staff, great food and drinks at affordable prices and a welcoming atmosphere. We particularly loved the spacious area and garden for the dogs to explore together and make friends. The numerous toys available were much appreciated too (although they could use a wash) . Overall its wonderful I'm sure we will be regulars from now on 😊

Perfect example of what a small local business should be, friendly staff, great atmosphere and very welcoming. Simple menu comprised of hot and cold sandwiches, jacket potatoes, quiche, cakes and scones etc but varied enough with a nice doggy menu and kids menu and vegetarian options. Can’t stress enough how important it is to support our local businesses, use them or loose them! Keep up the good work ladies we’ve visited a few times with our little man (shih tzu) and he loves it here

Would recommend for a cuppa with cakes, scones, whatever. You won't be disappointed as their foods are top class. Plenty there for the dogs in the way of treats, also for them to be bought, collars, leads, coats etc. Keep it up girls, you're doing a great job!

First visit was faultless. Fab friendly service for kids and dogs and adult guests. Second visit was like a different place. Different staff member who wasn’t there during first visit was an absolute horror! Hates kids or customers she hasn’t seen before. Frosty and unfriendly and really made us feel unwelcome.Wouldn’t have been out of place in League of gentleman.

Come here after vet appts to retain our sanity and calm the two dogs down. Lovely food served with welcome drinks for us and the dogs. Plenty for sale, coats, collars, dog treats etc, also tombola table in the corner. I'll drop something else off to put on there next time I go. Well worth going to as both girls very friendly.

Love coming here with my dog, and attending events they hold for local charity's. If you're looking for somewhere lovely to hang out with your pooch then look no further. Decent cafe food and lovely selection of hot drinks - I recommend the luxury hot chocolate. Staff couldn't be friendlier.
