Cafe Jannetta in Fife

We were recommended to try this fabulous place when we visited St Andrews for lunch in early March. The place is so cute and I loved the outdoor seating area (we had our small dog with us so this was great!) The staff were wonderful and did not rush me when I was looking at all the fabulous flavours. So many to choose from but we will 100% be back in the summer to try more. This is a “must” when you visit St Andrews!

We always look forward to a visit to Jannettas for ice cream. Some of the ices are gluten free and the staff always take the time to help me know which ones are suitable. My particular favourite is the Turkish Delight ice cream - although they have many amazing flavours for all palates. It is always immaculately clean and the coffee is pretty good as well. Gorgeous environment - they also do nice looking cakes and other desserts. Highly recommended!

Visited today for ice cream - amazing range of flavours, lovely place and staff were great despite how busy it was. Been visiting for years and the ice cream is always delicious. Looking forward to returning next time I visit St Andrews!

We visited Jannetta’s on a February Saturday and it was bustling. Lovely bright inside with plenty of seating, plenty of servers and an amazing array of gelato flavours. Very nice and very difficult not to end up there on a daily basis.

Popped in for a cuppa and an ice cream. The young lady who served us was very nice and efficient. The Icecream was delightful.

We have loved visiting Jannetta's when we were staying in the area and looked forward to another visit. Unfortunately, we weren't aware that it's now a takeaway with some seating and a menu that you have to scan (using dodgy 4G as we couldn't see a password for the WiFi). I've just read recent reviews and the manager's response to each one and I can see that the vast majority still love it, but, for us, it was disappointing to see the full menu and proper crockery missing. It's all takeaway cartons, no pots of tea, cream scones, chocolate bombe ices, or spectacular sundaes. The staff are friendly and helpful and the ice cream range is great, but it's not what it was so, sadly, we'll not be rushing back.

Always a visit to Jannettes, each time through in St Andrews/East Neuk. With an incredible range of ice-cream flavours/sorbets, always yummy. However, I felt incredibly embarrassed with, I think it was the Manager speaking about myself/family, with a fellow colleague, with regards to an incident which happened the previous day. Was with my dad, who wanted to buy my 3 children an ice-cream. Opted for one scoop, which from memory was £2.80. They lady asked my dad if he wanted sprinkles and he said yes. Total bill came to £11.? My dad say, eh? That can’t be right? My dad asked to speak to the Manager. She stated that is was 70-80p, can’t remover exact figure, per ice-cream. My dad said, i am no prepared to pay for that, for a splash of sprinkles. She explained, this wasn’t only down to the cost of sprinkles, that they had overheads. Well, yeah, so does every business. I understand if you ask for a chocolate flake/sponge or wafer then it will be extra, but, I feel that a splash of rainbow sprinkles, this is just ridiculous. Maybe my dad should have queried this, but I guess, he is old school and thought maybe 10-20p extra. So, the lady kindly repotted them and kids were happy. We returned the next day. My partner brought the kids first and I joined them 15 mins later, after running an errand. I went to order an ice-cream. Next minute, I spot the same lady, go over and start telling a colleague, and the two of them are starting at me, proceed to an in-depth conversation looking over at me, 3/4 times, with a disapprovingly look and her colleague looking stunned. I challenged the lady and she said she was telling her colleague when to go for her tea break. I said, I don’t believe you. I then asked my partner to let’s go and we got the kids and left. The whole shop looking and wondering what on earth had gone on. So, basically, I don’t mind them talking about the incident, but at least, have the common decency and respect not to do this right in front of me and while I am in the shop. I had the guts to return and spend our hard earned cash in your shop, again after the initial incident, but certainly not coming back.

Never had Gelato before coming here but heard rave reviews, absolutely incredible. So many flavours, absolutely gorgeous taste and nice place to be. Stunning!

This ice cream shop was a delight. My grandchildren could not believe their eyes at all the flavours. There was a queue to get served but we expected that so not a problem for us. The ice cream was delicious and so many flavours and toppings to choose from. They also sell ice cream cakes something I have never seen before. Small cafe area also but we had all ready eaten but it looked to be busy.

Delicious gelato with a wide variety of flavors to choose from. I had the hazelnut and loved it. Staff were super friendly, helpful, and nice.

Delicious ice cream! Though busy the queue moves fast and service was very efficient. There is a high range of flavours so you will be spoiled for choice. Well worth a visit and don’t be put off if there is a queue.

We recently visited Jannettes after coming across it on trip advisor. Staff were very friendly and informative. We felt that all allergies were catered for well and taken seriously. There was lots of variety for dairy free/ vegan customers too.

This place was recommended to me by a waitor of The Cellar restaurant (Michelin star restaurant in Anstruther) and I must say it did not disappoint. They offer an amazingly large number of flavours and the ice-cream was just divine, absolutely worth the long queuing...

Very busy cafeteria with massive choice of ice creams. Friendly staff and fair prices. Also does breakfasts. Recommend the rum and raisin ice cream.

Our tour guide recommended this gelateria, and I thanked her very much afterwards. The ice cream was very tasteful.

On busy days, there is a queue here. That said, despite being long, it went quickly. There is a vast variety of flavours. Tried elderflower for the first time, which was pretty spectacular. Cannot comment on the prices, as they seemed cheap compared to Switzerland,...

Sadly, not great. Used to be "the place to go" for the best ice cream in the area. We had two small tubs, one with two scoops and one with one. All were brick hard, not creamy at all and tasteless. We could not differentiate...

Ordered a double scoop cone with flake plus single tub ,, price £ 9.25 The cone contained a good size of ice cream unfortunately the tub had a very measly single measure... the flavours were bland not creamy at all I had added up the...

The ice cream here is nice enough with a wide range of flavours. However it is not particularly creamy or flavoursome. It certainly compares poorly with ice creams I had recently in Spain and Italy. A bit disappointing these days sadly.

Went in as a resident of St.Andrews, yet again, at about 20.25 on May 22nd with a local friend. I was served by a solemn faced old lady with a grey ponytail and I asked for a 2 litre tub of ice cream. The price...

Janettas is a lovely ice cream parlour by the seaside and has many many flavours to choose from all of which are absolutely delicious.

Absolutely awful experience. Have had take away ice cream for many years but todays fiasco has ensured we won’t be back. Queued for 30 mins with our two toddlers and once inside managed to sit down at a booth. When got the kids settled we...

Ice cream was just as any other place. However EXTREMELY overpriced. This place is 100% a tourist trap. This wouldn't have been much of an issue for us but it was ruined by the staff.On arriving we were sat at a table in the middle of the cafe right next to the staff using machines and washing up. It was very noise and near the door so we asked if we could move to a booth table inside more as they were all empty. We were told by an older waitress with white hair that it was too much work for her to have to wipe our table if we were to move. I asked - does that mean we aren't able to move? She replied - it would be preferable not to, so we don't have to do the extra work of wiping the table if you move and then she walked away. We were taken aback by this as surely she would have to wipe the table once we left anyway and we hadn't even got our ice cream yet. So we stayed put and were not happy with this at all. The rest of the staff were awkward and unchatty. The place felt hectic and almost clinical. Not sure why this place is so known as it did not live up to the hype at all. AVOID.

So, this afternoon after swimming I decided to treat my daughter and her children to an ice cream! The children had a one scoop each with a waffle cone and I asked for marshmallows and coloured sprinkles; the amount I was charged for these was £5.80 each! The coffee (2 lattes) was equally as extortionate, served in paper cups, the same size as a Starbucks small for £3.80 each! The whole bill came to £34.30! We will not be back and will got Luvians instead who charge the children 65p for a cone!

We both enjoyed the range of ice cream on offer at this centrally located gelateria in St Andrew’s. My Scottish tablet flavoured ice cream was heavenly. My wife opted for the black cherry which she thought was equally excellent. We felt the cost for two small ice cream cones to be a little expensive. However, we enjoyed our tasty treat as the sun shone down on us both.

Ice cream and shakes here are excellent as they always have been.Appreciate the Covid situation and their intention to create a safe environment.... But instead they managed to ruin the experience by being overly authoritarian and draconian in their approach. Even when stood on the street (which is a public space) we were barked at to move further away. (yes we were wearing masks).Genuinely felt like they didn't want our business. They were rude. It wasn't what we were asked to do that's the problem. It's HOW we were asked. Happy to comply but courtesy costs nothing. (the waitresses however were lovely, helpful and courteous). Keen to support reataurants during a tough time but would take our business elsewhere in future. If you're not keen on people who seem to take a strange sort of glee in enforcing rules... Then maybe try another ice cream shop. Owner seems to be on a power trip. Great ice cream.

Popped in after work today, although there were long queues the ice cream was well worth the wait. The staff are always so attentive and the owner seems to really care about the customers, which is great to see as I shop local to help the local economy in these troubled times. The ice cream was amazing as usual!

Always a lovely experience, with accommodating staff. location is perfect for an ice cream after the beach! A family run business, which makes it all the better, helping out the local economy! Do not be put off by the queues! The dog loved it too.

Popped in today to get ice cream to go for me and my partner. With the current situation I left him waiting outside and went in myself after waiting to be called in. When telling the girl I wanted a tub I understand if was difficult to hear with one other pair of customers in the shop.When trying to choose my ice cream I was look at the cabinets (the ices creams are set across three cabinets) to be informed by the colleague I can view them above my head. I read the two closest ones but struggled to read the third one so took a step back (still on the divided section and no one else was in the shop) to be barked at by the member of staff that Iist stay in my bay....The customer service was shocking and considering I have never set foot in this ice cream parlour before (but had been recommended it) and I do not work here how am I meant to be a mind reader.I promptly told the member of staff I would not be making a purchase and left.I will not return and will make no recommendation to visit here in the future.

The highlight of our visit to St. Andrews. Well set up for the Covid regulations. Outside seating a bonus for those that have walked all day. An amazing range of flavours that will keep the most devoted ice-cream lover busy for weeks!

I stopped here twice in my stay at St Andrews I had the Scottish tablet and also the coconut 🥥 ice cream both were fab

Fantastic ice cream, worth waiting in line for it. We managed to get a bench/table outside on two visits. Lovely to sit in the sun with a mouth watering ice cream. Controls in place during Covid-19 were well done.

We are frequent visitors to St Andrews. A trip to Jannettas is a MUST. The ice cream is fantastic. Be prepared to queue to comply with the Covid regulations (this might not be an issue out of season) but the short wait is well worth it. Will definitely visit again.

So much choice I had to visit twice. Can recommend tablet, peanut butter and oreo, clotted cream and apple pie flavour ice creams. Strawberry and raspberry sauces are delicious.

¡Fui dos veces esta semana ya que era demasiado bueno para no tener dos! Tenía una ondulación de frambuesa dos veces, ya que es mi favorita con grandes trozos de frambuesa, también tenía chocolate y plátano, ¡que fue increíble! La línea exterior parece realmente grande, pero solo porque hay distanciamiento social en el interior solo alrededor de 10 minutos de espera.

Stopped in for ice cream and was not disappointed. They took the COVID 19 precautions very seriously but it did not detract from the experience. Had the waffles with ice cream and they were amazing. The other guests had sundaes and all were impressed. Definitely will be back

We were told to come here by a waitress in Edinburgh during our visit there and we are so glad we did (we visited the takeout side due to the beauitful weather outside).The ice cream is truly amazing! Some of the flavours are so unique and different.The queue (yes its that good) was well managed and everyone was social distancing. There were qr code to scan with the menu on so you could have a look while you waited!Inside the social distancing measures where really good. Only so many people in the shop at one time, only two members of each group at a time.The ice cream is good and so worth a visit, if you are visiting St Andrews (we visited St Andrews the next day and came back for a visit).

During the lock down the shop provided a local delivery service to the vast majority of fife. They were friendly fast and added kind touches that locals loved. We had more than one delivery. We left eggs with for them and they were super nice about all aspects of their service. The quality of the products are without question. The invocation of their products are both fun, ingenious and tasty.

Visited many times over the last few years and the quality, choice and standard is always excellent. Am amazing choice of ice-cream flavours - a favourite is Scottish tablet. If you love ice-cream then this is the place for you!

Very nice ice cream, great selection of flavours and cones. Our local Gelateria is just as good though and gives bigger scoops though less flavours available.

We are frequent visitors. I used to look forward to an ice cream but the last few times we have been there I have been disappointed with the size of the offering. It is getting smaller by the visit. The quality is excellent but I feel cheated by the downsizing with no price reduction.

Amazing to be able to order delicious sunday's and waffles from Janetta's and have them home delivered in assembled/ready to assemble form.....such a lovely treat during lockdown....thank you Janetta's for doing this

Thanks Nicola for a great take-away service of coffee, hot chocolate, waffles and ice-cream. You went out of your way to make our breakfast very special. Always very efficient and friendly, we have been loving Jannettas for over 20 years.

Janettas has about 30 flavors of gelato, many of which we tried. We highly recommend the coffee and cocoa flavors.

We stopped for a single chocolate wafer today .got one scoop of icecream on each .I asked the lad that was serving me should I not get 2 scoops ,he said no and proceed to charge me £8 for 2 chocolate wafers.

After walking the dog on the beach we popped in for some ice creams. The place was fantastic as always and the ice cream was amazing! Would really like to acknowledge how lovely and chatty your staff were, we were helped by two different servers Chloe and then Sarah who couldn’t have done more for us!!We will certainly be making this a regular thing when walking the dogs!!!

Questo è stato uno dei gelati migliori che io abbai mai provato in tutta la mia vita, insieme a quello di Venchi che però non fa classifica ahahah. Sono stata in questo locale con alcuni miei amici mentre facevamo un'escursione in questo paese, durante la mia permanenza di 3 settimane ad Edimburgo (dove per giunta non sono riuscita a trovare una gelateria decente). Il gelato è semplicemente buonissimo, ci sono un'immensità di gusti, dai più classici ai più particolari ed il prezzo è nella norma per un gelato davvero enorme. L'unica "pecca" è la coda, in quanto è molto affollato, ma ne vale davvero la pena! Sono rimasta davvero estasiata da questa gelateria, semmai dovessi ritornare in Scozia per qualsiasi motivo cercherò di farci un giro.

I went with a friend for a catch up lunch. Lots of great lunch choices. Their hot steak sandwich was amazing!

This is one place that cannot be missed for visitors to St. Andrews! Good value for your money and absolutely delicious!The menu has a lot to choose from and the gelato selection is impressively vast. The service was excellent and staff were very friendly. The atmosphere is also simply perfect. (I especially liked that they have a board showing photos of people posing with their gelato cups all over the world! Cool idea!)Definitely will return whenever I am in St. Andrews, as this is one of the best cafes and ice cream shops I've been to in Scotland!

Finally got around to treating my husband and kids to a Janetta's today. Grew up in St Andrews, but now live in the Highlands.Unbelievable choice of ice creams and sorbets, not to mention the cone and topping choices!I took forever to choose (no doubt a common problem ), but Sarah, our server, couldn't have been more patient with me. She anticipated my napkin needs (yes, that is 100% a thing with 2 young children!) and was just a delight to be around. Nothing was too much trouble.Over the moon to see Ice Cream Bombs are still on the go (see photo)! Many happy a birthday party back in the day Janetta's, you're still awesome!

we visit St Andrews - mainly during the winter to walk our dogs at West Sands. No visit would be complete without an ice-cream from Janetta's! Loads of tasty flavoursand always good. Only complaint over the past year or so we have noticed the portions are considerably smaller don't even fill the tub. Would rather pay a little more for bigger scoops.Disappointed

Desde el exterior sientes que puedes comer en el piso, impecable, me gustaron las fotos tomadas alrededor del mundo de las tinas de Jannetis.Un gran lugar para un aperitivo con probablemente el mejor helado de Escocia. No estábamos al tanto de esta heladería, tropezamos con ella en nuestro último día o de lo contrario hubiéramos sido asiduos en los tres días que estuvimos. Los servidores también se suman al ambiente, lástima que no tengamos uno en la costa oeste

No visit to St Andrews is complete without trying Jannetta’s incredible ice creams! You will be spoilt for choice in terms of flavours and cone variety. Their chocolate sorbet is particularly tasty and ideal for anyone who would rather avoid dairy.

Had lunch yesterday and normally in other places I have a choice of 1 cake. Janettas actually has won hands down for three choices of cake. All looked amazing - I went for the Chocolate Cake which was delicious!!! Thank you Nicola having so many options is just great....obviously be back soon!!

Este café restaurante tiene la gama más deliciosa de helados y helados. Mi favorito es el excelente chocolate. Hay muchos sabores para probar. Puedes sentarte a desayunar o simplemente tomar un café. El café es ligero, luminoso y muy popular.

First time visiting St Andrews.

Jannettas is a lovely family owned local cafe serving great food and ice cream. The Eggs Benedict are very high quality and presented beautifully. My daughter had pancakes with syrup and a milkshake which went down well. Highly recommend an early Sunday visit.

What better way to see off 2019 than with an ice cream! Loads of tempting flavours to choose from. As we’d been speaking about Cranachan only the day before it was an obvious choice for one of the scoops. The other one, well, being New Year’s Eve it has to be champagne & elderflower sorbet. Yummo!

What a lovely welcome we received as we, as a group of 2 families, turned up for brunch this morning. The waitress was an expert in customer service and was very accommodating and helpful. The food was delicious and the waffles were a highlight for the 5 children (aged between 4 and 10). Everyone enjoyed their food and having ice cream alongside bacon and pancakes went down a treat!!

Lovely place with great ice cream and a cafe. Reasonable prices and friendly service. Wide range of flavours and sorbet options too if you are watching the calories. Well worth a visit.

After a nightmare the previous day we were drawn into this bright cosy gelateria having seen that we could have a sandwich. Excellent service from the young staff and the food was lovely. Of course we had to have an icecream which was delicious! One to remember.

Well, I can say a little more but really I think the photos say it all (other than being there and tasting it, if course!). Ice-cream and sorbet heaven with wonderful waffles and superb service thrown in. Mandarin and Cocoa sorbet sooooo yummy.

Very famous locally for incredible ice cream and fully justified. Top tip don’t wait in line for a cone, go in the other door and sit in a booth for great ice cream and possibly a drink too!

Decided to try out the ice cream parlor after hearing so much about it and it didn’t disappoint! Waffles and ice cream were scrummy. Butter tablet to die for. We will be back on our next visit.

Sorveteria fundada há 110 anos! Sorvete delicioso, com vários sabores e opções de sundaes. Serve refeições leves e sanduíches. O sorvete de baunilha, famoso, é feito várias vezes ao dia. Um cartaz na vitrine diz sempre a que horas o sorvete de baunilha que está sendo servido foi feito. É sempre curioso ver pessoas encasacadas no frio esperando na fila para tomar sorvete :) !

Was so disappointed with this place as was massive queue outside which i was told was a regular occurrence, so had high hopes. We decided to eat in before the drive home. I feel we would have maybe had a much better experience with just take out. Ordered the pancakes with 2 flavours of ice cream but the pancakes were so dry, even the slight bit of sauce on the top couldnt help. My partner ordered a sundae...which coming from a dessert shop, you’d think would be a good choice. Came out in a small glass you’d expect for a kids ice cream...2 scoops which were all melted and no fudge sauce. We sent it back as it was liquid rather than ice cream and the sauce was missing. It came out “fresh” but melted again and still no sauce. I think the dishes were maybe just out from the dishwasher and still warm so the ice cream was melting right away. Felt like everyone had hyped this place up and i was left so let down. Would possibly try the ice cream again but takeaway only, wouldnt sit in again.

Visited late on a Saturday night, just as it was about to close but we still received a friendly welcome and some great ice cream in bright and cheerful surroundings. My vegan pistachio didn’t taste much of pistachio but it was really creamy and delicious nevertheless! Seems this is a real St. Andrews institution and it’s easy to see why!

Such delicious vegan pistachio ice cream! The man was so helpful with my dietary needs and checked to make sure everything was suitable for me. Really friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Must go back just for the vegan ice cream!

We seen this was a busy ice cream shop, and decided to try it once hungry! Absolutely awesome Icecream, would go so far as saying it’s best I have ever had! Family of 5, so there were lots of flavours tried and all enjoyed! Vanilla and Scottish Tablet being my fav! Cannot wait to return before the end of our hols!

It’s freezing in St Andrews (well, freezing for gelato) but we love our ice cream and had to make a stop at the renowned Janetta’s for a try! We’re from NYC but live closer to Glasgow now and enjoy lots of Nardini’s in our neck of the woods. Two of us thought Janetta’s was definitely better and 2 didn’t. The baby seemed happy with his as usual! We will definitely try to go back before we leave and come back when we’re here again! I loved the rum raisin I tried!!

Great choice, great service, tasty deserts. Can’t really say much more than give it a bash, you won’t be disappointed.

The ice cream is to die for and I come almost every week as it’s relatively reasonable especially on a student budget with a plethora of flavours and very friendly staff. A must go to everyone visiting St Andrews

Went to check out Jannettas Gelateria in St Andrews as I had heard a lot about it. It was August, mid school holiday time and as to be expected there was quite a queue, but my daughter and niece really enjoyed their ice-creams, so I would say go try it.

Pasamos de camino de la cena a nuestro be'’’’be. Había una gran selección de sabores, y el personal fue amable. Nuestros amigos compartieron un sabor, la mantequilla de maní con chocolate, y mi esposo y yo compartimos otro, la malta con chocolate. Todos sentimos que el sabor no era lo suficientemente fuerte, ni mantequilla de maní ni malta. Sin el servicio de espera, no podríamos ocupar una mesa, pero había un mostrador con algunos taburetes, donde podíamos pasar el rato. Cuando terminamos, no había un recipiente de basura, así que tomamos nuestras tazas y las tiramos en un contenedor de basura al final de la calle. Pensamos que eso era extraño.

Lunes 30 de septiembre: visitamos esta agradable cafetería y heladería en la calle. Andrews, a primera hora de la tarde, antes de regresar a casa, todo el personal fue extremadamente amable y el joven que estaba detrás de la cafetería hizo un excelente café para mí y un espresso cuidadosamente presentado para el conductor designado, mi esposa. Aunque está muy ocupado como cabría esperar de un lugar turístico como la calle. Andrews, ¡el café llegó muy rápido dada la cantidad de pedidos que debe haber tenido! Recomendaría este lugar a cualquiera que visite la calle Andrews por el día y no se desanime por lo ocupado que está este lugar.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit - amazing ice-cream and our server Bethany gave us the best customer service!

I ordered an Oreo waffle and a vanilla milkshake and was served by Bethany and Anneka. The food was delicious and it came quickly. The service was really great and they were very nice. As a result, I will be taken my family here during their visit.

Lovely visit on a busy Saturday! The queue is always out the door but that’s a good sign!! Fabulous ice cream and such a variety of flavours! The board of flavours is quite hard to read from a distance, and then because it’s so busy you sometimes feel pressured to pick a flavour when you get to the counter - but that’s not a bad thing either as it pushes you to try new things and not just stick to the norm!! Peanut butter and Oreo was definitely one of my favourites! Will definitely return!

Jannetas delivers as usual. Don't miss out on the chocolate sorbet! Not often you get to choose from such a wide range of flavours.

Jannettas Gelateria is a good and fun ice cream place in St Andrews popular for students and visitors to the city. The shop has a large array of flavors, from plain old vanilla to orange-mascarpone and Turkish Delight. I tried a scoop of Tayberry, which is a flavorful berry concoction, with one of coconut. There are several types of cones you can order, and the ice cream comes with a wafer stuck into the top.

Have you even been to St. Andrews if you don’t have an ice scream here! White chocolate and raspberry ripple is sensational, definitely worth dropping in for a scoop or 3 😋

Was served by Angela today and she was lovely and very informative. We had the chocolate bomb which was a fun experience. Great on a sunny day or to satisfy an ice cream craving.

We had vanilla gelato that was made at 1:45 and we ate it at 2:20! Crazy good! They have about a jillion flavors and often a long line... worth it ... We really enjoyed the coffee flavor, the straciotella, the millionaire's ? something with cookies like shortbread and chocolate! We went here twice it was so good!

We always wanted to try the ice cream but we were both disappointed. It was far too smooth and creamy for our taste.
