As a first time visitor we found this to be a great friendly restaurant/cafe with a bar. Extremely helpful/accommodating staff. The service was good and the food is reasonably priced as well ass being tasty and well presented. The seating was comfortable and the decor and 'sayings' on the wall are pleasing to the eye

Lovely food in Gillingham. Traveling on the Train for Chester to Gillingham was a good idea. And on arrival at Gillingham I walked from the Station to my hotel that took me down the high st . Looking for somewhere to dine I walked into this restaurant and was promptly greeted and offer a seat of my choice. I ordered a tagliatelle with Carbonara sauce that was cooked freshly to order and served with a large glass of wine The food was fresh and tasty and throughly delicious, My wine was cool and refreshing Local restaurants deserve the support of customer whether transient or local and this venue is a credit to the owners and staff I delightful way to spend a hour or too Throughly recommend

The food here is amazing, I've come a few times over the past couple months and I can't recommend it enough. The peri peri chicken is to die for along with the pork loin. Front of house is very friendly and ill certainly be back.

Popped in for a drink whilst in town. Had two teas would have had a cappachino but they do not provide soya milk. Staff pleasant and cheap teas.

Awful experience. Attracts loud, shouty people who are seriously unacquainted with even basic good manners. The food is awful too. Has seats and tables on the road where cars are constantly speeding past.

A no frills licensed cafe in the pedestrian area of Gillingham High Street. Very pleasant to sit outside with a coffee or beer and watch the world go by. From what I could see from other tables the food is of generous proportions.. Although I was not hungry I was tempted. The coffe was delicious and the prices very reasonable.

So happy I stumbled on Cafe Jaer . Ordered a vegetable omelette which was accompanied with chips and salad . The food is delicious , fresh and the portions are generous and reasonably priced . I also had a nice glass of red wine and a delicious cappuccino topped with fresh cream . Cafe Jaer is my new favourite place and I will definitely be returning with my daughter as they have her favourite on the menu Piri piri chicken . Staff are polite and friendly . Summary food great , prices are very reasonable . Would highly recommend .

The only place where you can have such a lovely salad for £5.50 and big portions too. I love this place and love the food.

Been visiting this cafe well before it was called cafe jaer. (Originally jennies) always found friendly staff food well cooked not greasy at all. Always liked the fact you can see what they're cooking too as opposed to behind kitchen doors! One critisam would be the prices for some meals could be a tad cheaper

I visited Jaer Casa Nova for coffee and a cake. The cappuccino was divine and the Portuguese custard pies were lovely. I will be back if I'm in the area.

My wife is Portuguese and on a Sunday morning likes nothing better than visiting here. There aren't many Portuguese cafés in this area so makes a nice change when we visit... The only downside is that they never have enough custard cakes!

Really good, fast, efficient, friendly service - lovely food, great choice on the menu, even for a veggie and good coffee.

Wonderful interior and exterior, a must see. Didn't appreciate the continous foul language from what obviously was a local guy. Have bands play here, love to visit when they play as the 'stage' is in a interesting corner of the bar area.

There are two Costa Coffees at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre (one inside and one outside). This is a review of the one outside as it was the first one we saw after parking the car. It it a light, airy establishment with friendly, helpful staff. There is seating both inside and outside and the tables were cleared as soon as the customers had left. The usual Costa drinks and snacks were available and our coffee was up to the usual good Costa standard.

Two of my good friends where visiting from Wiltshire and we chose the Boathouse. Just to make sure, I called them to check it was fine to have my Therapy Assistance with us and I was told this was fine and I booked a table for 3 a 2 p.m. When we arrived we were asked to sit in side booths rather than the restaurant. It was 30 minutes before our orders were taken and whilst my friends food came out correctly, my order was incorrect. Because of the time it took to actually order and receive our food, I chose not to say anything. It's clearly a very popular place to eat, but we were put in a corner, almost out of the way, which is exactly what I'd hope we'd avoid with my Therapy Assistance dog and bearing in mind my friends needed to travel back to Wiltshire, the timings were too long. The young lady who served drinks was brilliant though and she served the best gin and tonic with appropriate fruits added but ensuring beforehand I had no fruit allergies. I doubt I'd go back again, but I'm glad it's thriving given the current economic climate!
