Cafe Indian in Aberdeenshire

Visited last night with friends. Fantastic food and service. Very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend a visit.

Been fortunate to eat in Indian restaurants in a number of destinations throughout the world. Like most people Due to Covid our travels are currently in parts of Scotland never visited before. Stumbled across this place. Quality of food outstanding, presentation worthy of a city centre setting. The service was excellent too. Well worth a visit would be surprised if you were ever disappointed.

Lovely!!!!! Friendly service. Excellent food. The chicken Kashmiri was one of the tastiest I’ve had for a long time. My companions loved their choices as well. Well done for a truly excellent meal

What a disappointment with Cafe India food ordered on 4th April for anniversary 3 curries all tasted similar on the plus side lots of chicken breast but absolutely very little flavour Where have the good chefs from this restaurant gone? What a shame will have to go elsewhere sad!

First time visiting here tonight for a takeaway and wow what a treat, I wish I had found this place a long time ago. The food was delicious, freshly cooked, wonderful aroma, beautiful mix of spices. Wonderful.

This is such a lovely restaurant. The food is beautifully presented and extremely flavoursome. An unexpected find in this little town. We’ve visited many eateries over the years and this place could easily compete with the very best. Mustn't forget the courteous staff and reasonably priced food either. Good evening had by all.

We found this place purely by chance while driving through Huntly. We hadn't booked but decided to try it anyway. There are social distancing measures in place, and only about half of the tables are in use but luckily they were able to seat us. The menu is extensive, the food arrived fairly quickly and was very good. We were a bit unsure how the bill was worked out with regard to the 'Eat out to help out' scheme as it wasn't itemised but it seemed about right so we just paid. We'd go back.

Takeaway delivery, really good quality food and fantastic delivery service. We are in Huntly force rew days, think another visit is on the cards.

Visited 22nd July whilst staying in Huntly. Only took 20 minutes from phoning order in and food was delicious. My wife and myself both thought it matched our all time favourite Indian restaurant back home. Would certainly use it again.

Absolutely awful ordered at 17.45 and I was still waiting in the shop to collect at 19.45 no explanation and happy to take nearly £100 order. Thought we would try again after previous bad experience but looks like 3 bad experiences we won't be returning

By far one of the best... I travelled from Kent on business (unusual I know), I found out about cafe India from the interwebs and decided to try it out, immediately greeted with respect and friendliness.I sat down at a table eat for one unfortunately , I wanted to try something different something a bit extravagant as of course it’s paid by my company , so I ordered the tiger prawns and pops dons for my starter; they were oozing with flavour unbelievably scrumptious , moving on to my mains I ordered the Raj Shahi Amla from what I was told it’s a new dish, and is 100% worth a try and had this accompanied with rice and nan of course, on top of that the service was impeccable staff greet you as you come in always with smiles owner coming to have a chat to make you feel at home and comfortable, I couldn’t be more happy with my order and choice of restaurant if only you could get more restaurants like this near me....

Had a takeaway from here recently I had tiger special and husband vindaloo We both enjoyed Was piping hot too

I decided to check out this Huntly’s Cafe India in desperation as I was hungry and cold before returning to Edinburgh. Expecting it to be a decent sojourn, I was pleasantly surprised by the good food and the par service.... Until I got the bill. I was not only charged almost a pound for a tiny and paper-thin papadum, but I was charged three pounds for the four accompanying ramekins of sauces. Bear in mind, they were charged individually and I am vegan, so I only ate three out of the four. If I had known that they’d be as expensive as they were, I would have never consented to them. The entire reason I did was because even before I sat down and opened my menu, the hostess asked if I would like some papadum with my water. Assuming it was complimentary, I agreed. She never even asked me about the sauces and instead just took it upon herself to bring all four of them out, but not before walking away while saying, “I’m pretty sure all of them are fine for you to eat.” I have severe gastrointestinal problems, so I hadn’t have double checked with a waiter, her carelessness could have done some bodily harm. As I was in a hurry to catch my 5 hour train back to Edinburgh, I hastened to pay the check and left, and it wasn’t until I was reviewing the bill on the train to Aberdeen that I realized what scam had ensued. If deciding to eat here, I’d recommend triple checking the prices, and if you have a food allergy or dietary nuance, just avoid it altogether.

Really nice restaurant food is excellent and the staff are friendly would recommend the tandoori mixed grill.

Spent a couple of days at the Huntly Castle Caravan park and noticed this restaurant when we walked past during the day - decided to give it a try and so glad we did - food was delicious and good value - staff were really friendly - turns out they also deliver take-away to the Caravan park if required - good to know if weather not so great next time round

We often have been here. Buffet night is good on a Thursday - friendly staff too. The general menu is good and the toilets are clean!

We ordered a takeaway for collection this evening, chicken curry with chapatis... it was tasteless and the chapatis were nothing to shout about to say they were £1.50 each . We also got charged 5p for a bag we didn’t even ask for... how does that work? Won’t be going back.

Super quality Indian food for take-away. Butter chicken curry with coconut flavor and the spinach side were my favourites. Restaurant also looked good for dining in.

I’m a regular customer but recently attended with 15 work colleagues from Aberdeen on a Saturday night. There is always a degree of nervousness when recommending a restaurant to colleagues but Cafe India never fails to deliver. I would go as far to say it is one of the best Indian restaurants in north east Scotland. The food is consistently of the highest standard and the service provided by the staff is excellent. This view was supported by all my colleagues on the night, many of whom were visiting for the first time. Highly recommended.

I always get a takeaway from here when I’m up at the caravan site. The best Vindaloo in Scotland, consistently amazing every time. Top drawer, very highly recommended.

On the way home we picked here to have something to eat.

Every selection was better than the last; gigantic king prawns, fresh, full of flavour, fluffy rice, beautiful colours. Perfect! Thank you.

Visited the restaurant with my wife and grandson. We ordered chiken tiger, chicken jaipuri and chiken shashlik, with mushroom rice and a peshwari naaan. All of the dishes had huge chunks of chicken and the sauces were delicious. It was the first time my grandson had tasted the tiger special and it has now become his favourite curry. The naan was fluffy, fruity and very tasty.

Good food, good and effecient service, clean and bright interior.Ticks all the boxes for me. Well worth visiting if you haven’t been.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a couple of people and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We didn’t have a table booked but they fitted us in. Service was fast and efficient. They did forget my rice but were very quick to rectify that when pointed out and were full of apologies. Meal was superb! Will definitely be back if we stop in Huntly again.

Went for a meal before going to a night out. My friends partner got the wrong meal. Was told the chef forgot his glasses! We were told we would get a free round of drinks but that didn’t happen. My partners Dabsak wasn’t up to the usual standard. I ordered a carry out for my son and his chicken madras was pink in the middle. He didn’t eat much of it but was sick after it. Not the usual standard we expect. still waiting for our change after paying the bill. Very disappointed tonight.

Everything from the pakora to the curry to the naan to the rice was perfect. Nice welcome from friendly staff …..an absolute pleasure to have been there.

We have visited the Cafe India many times and have never had a bad experience the food has always be top notch weather on menu or Buffett. Every time my family visit always finish with book the Indian and for one of my granddaughters is the only Indian restaurant she will go to.

Have visited this restaurant a couple of times. The first was a meal from an extensive menu and was most enjoyable. The second was a curry night, excellent choice of dishes at a fixed price. It can be very busy so booking is recommended.

Great value for money. Good choice of curries. Friendly and attentive staff. Have not eaten here for awhile as was previously disappointed but has definitely improved.

Both of us enjoyed our curry and the service was excellent. Good selection of food and drinks on offer.

We called in on spec on a quite Sunday evening and had a very enjoyable meal. Watch out for the fresh chillis in some of the dishes, very hot. Good flavoursome food. We covered pretty much all the bases, including King Prawns and a tandoori mixed grill and nothing was a disappointment. Draft beer is Kingfisher. Friendly service and very reasonable prices. Towards the edge of town but an easy walk of the town centre and from the Castle Huntly Caravan Park. Would definitely go back.

Two family meals in a week long visit to the area. Excellent food good choice and service very friendly.

Amazing place with excellent food and friendly staff. Got there waited 10 minutes and looked at menu. You could go for a unlimited buffet or a range of foods. The food took 10 minutes and we ordered two chicken kormas 4 naans and a load of other dishes. When the food arrived it was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. When the bill came it was roughly £90 for 6 dishes and 4 naans, alcohol, with a load of juice. They even offered a free drink on the house. The staff were very chatty and advised us what to do around here. Definitely will be coming here again.

Had a home delivery from here and the food was excellent. Chicken Jalfrezi was huge portion with lots of chicken tikka and the Chicken Korma was one of the best I have tasted. Nice to get complimentary poppadums and some spicy onion dip. Really good value for money and could have ordered far less and still had leftovers. Recommended.

Went there with partner and 3 children. We each had a different dish, but all were very good. Would happily eat there again.

We got a take away. The food was lovely. It is expensive but well worth the price- they even delivered and couldnt have been nicer

Always come here with friends when visiting the area. A great Indian restaurant with friendly staff and consistently great food. They always ensure the curry is the heat you desire. Reasonably priced. Always good and happy to come back.

superb went there with my parents wife and infant son. Food was superb and my son was more interested in running about and the staff were more than happy for him to do that. Not one complaint was made. they even spoke with him and played with him and he loved that. Nice little touches. Great food too and well priced. Defo worth visiting

Visited on a Saturday night and found the restaurant really busy which is always a good sign. Service and food all very good. Some other places pack the customers in and it shows on the standards but not here. Also found it good value for money.

A real find in the lovely historic town of Huntly. Cafe India's interiors are sleek and modern but the welcome is warm and old fashioned hospitality. A great range of dishes to choose from and I would highly recommend the chilli garlic chicken - delicious.

We went to Cafe India tonight for the buffet and we haven't been before. It was really busy which is always a good sign. We had not booked but managed to get a table without any delay. The buffet was excellent, everything was piping hot...

Buffet was good quality with plenty selection and is excellent value for money. Service also very good.

Good Indian food. Extensive menu. Food was excellent, not as hot or harsh as some restaurants (for similar dishes) but nice tasting of spices. Reasonable wine list but didn't try as had Kingfisher On draught. All in all an excellent meal.

First time here for the all you can eat buffet....it won't be the last. A great choice of starters and mains, I think about 6 of each which is more than the norm. Food quality was excellent, very tasty. Service was very good considering how busy it was, which leads to my last point I suggest you book in advance as at 7:00 pm the place was full.

Mi marido y yo estábamos pasando por Huntly y nada estaba abierto, me alegré de que no eran como terminamos en el café de Indias y disfrutamos de la comida hindú. El buffet era pequeña, pero tiene las cosas habituales que se pueden esperar, bien preparado y muy sabroso. Los camareros comprobamos con frecuencia así que todo estaba bien caliente y disponibles. Como no tienen elementos del menú que no puedo comentar sobre eso. El servicio de mesa fue un poco escaso, pero tal vez porque estábamos teniendo el buffet, todo el personal era amable y servicial. Volvería a comer allí de nuevo.

My wife and I often eat in the restaurant and always find the food excellent and the service very good. Portions are generous and meat content always high. Tonight decided to order a take away. The food was ready on time and piping not. Again there was loads of chicken and very tasty flavours. A complimentary popadum and some spicy onions were included as a nice touch. Can thoroughly recommend the tiger chicken - absolutely delcious.

Visited June 2017, hadn't booked ahead to sit in but we were lucky and got a table for two. First visit for us both. Extensive menu, quick and good service. Would visit again without thought.

Bright airy restaurant, friendly and efficient staff. Good menu range of old favourite curries and more unusual dishes. Food that came to table was well cooked, well presented and very tasty.

Really enjoyed the choice offered on buffet night . Tiger chicken is very tasty not too hot and nice and sweet. Ordered this another time off the main menu and wasn't disappointed really lovely ,also love the pilau rice and garlic nann . Mmmmm

Went for a quick dinner whilst driving up the A96 and found it was a lovely little restaurant in Huntly. The service was as good as I've ever experienced in a curry house and the food was good. All reasonably priced too.

Food was excellent. Quick response on Facebook when messaged. Takeaway took 25mins to be ready to collect, which was exactly the estimate given by the person on the phone. Good service.

We visited on our friends recommendation. We were greeted with a very pleasant smiley man, all the staff were friendly, efficient and smiley which makes all the difference.The restaurant was nice well lit and airy which created a good ambiance.The food was good, the information we were given about various dishes was flawed. Our idea of a strong curry and a medium curry is different, we overcame this by swapping dishes.The service was good even though there was a mix up when a second bottle of wine was ordered, We will go back again but we have a very good Indian on our door step in Banff

popped in for dinner one night, transpires it was the buffet night, which we were aware of. It was really good, food was excellent, good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Only downside for me was the lack of vegetarian food on offer.

Food is pretty good and wide selection, take-away and eat-in. Buffet night is popular but the food is probably better on other nights. Friendly to the children.

First time for a sit down meal and it was a great experience . The staff were friendly and attentive . A lovely buffet meal with a good selection will be back before too long

Always a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Very varied menu to suit all tastes. Thursday night fixed price buffet is especially good value but booking is essential, minimum of 3 starters and 5 main courses with Nan bread, poppadoms and dips all included.

Spent the evening at cafe Indian on 12th November. The staff were very attentive and the meal was nice.

It's been some time since my wife and I visited but we decided to have a family meal along with our young daughter. The quality was equally as good as we would have received in our regular Aberdeen visits. Service was as it should be. We were very happy with our meals. Restaurant was also well presented, warm and clean which does add to the night. Will certainly return again.

I haven't been to India but I doubt they would eat this food there. Same base sauce for many dishes. I make my own and it is more authentic. Poor!!

After many years of driving past cafe India in Huntly I had the chance to take my children for farewell meal, I and my children were most impressed with the standard of food that was served plenty of choice and types of meat and sweet choice, we all had chicken of choice, the service was very good, and at the end of the meal I was very surprised by the bill great value would recommend to anyone to give it a try.

popped in about 6.30pm on a sunday night - there was a few people in for carry outs & was told to take a seat - about 5mins later after he attended the takeaways a waiter asked us "how can he help"..... A table for 2 please i said & told him we hadn't booked.....he showed us to a table in the "new look" restaurant -NICE- only 1 other table was busy - fair enough there was about 10 diners at it.......after a few minutes of pondering the menu & drinks ordered (& received) - we ordered a GARLIC CHICKEN in a PURI starter (to share) = LOVELY - a nice LARGE portion of food (so large it spilled over the plate...it would of looked better in a larger plate).I opted for the CHICKEN DHANSAK (£7.25) with LEMON RICE(£3.20)......a nice sized bowl of sauce - a little too sweet with very little heat for MY TASTE BUDS but NICE none the less......Wife had her USUAL - CHICKEN MADRAS(£7.25) with MUSHROOM RICE(£3.20)....same sized bowl with plenty of chicken but the sauce had very little heat to it too....but OK - not enough KICK for her taste buds !!Garlic nan (£3.00) - nice (on the small side)....but ample !no COBRA on draught but KINGFISHER !would return....only if in the area !!

Had my sons birthday meal here on Friday night. The surroundings are very nice and the kingfisher beer too but the meals were pretty average and the staff not very friendly.

The service is great but the food lets this place down. I was also ill the following day i am not normally ill aftrr indian. We went in on a sat evening about 7:30 and the place had about 10 people sat down eating. The staff are friendly and attentive enough but when its not busy they do seem to disturb you more. Twice in 5 mins we were asked if our food was ok, they wete also serving quickly.not giving you mich time between courses. Our popadoms were removed before we were finished.

Interior tasteful for an Indian restaurant. There is even a wine list. Very wide choice of food. Not recommended is prawn cocktail (horrible sauce) and tandoori (overcooked and tough). Rather go for the curries where they cannot do things wrong.

We have eaten here many times and we have had numerous takeaways from Cafe Indian we have always had high-quality food, great service, as well as helpful service from the staff. I really can't recommend this establishment highly enough and for a great value, night out it has to be Cafe Indian on a Thursday night buffet evening. The refurbishment has made a huge difference to what was a dated interior.

Food and service are excellent - the choices are good and nan bread to die for, sorry dine for. Good starters and mains.

A group of us went from work, food excellent, service, very good. We were there on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was quite busy, there was a good atmosphere and the restaurant had pleasant decor.

The food was like scraps of chicken left over, with bones. Not hot. Small portions. Jalfrezi tasted sour. All in all not good food.

Es war mein erstes Indisches Essen und wie ich herausfand, bin ich kein Liebhaber von Koriander. Blöd. Aber nun weiss ich das und kann mich drauf einstellen. Das Lokal, der Services und das Essen, welches ich zwischen den Koriander schmekte war gut.

Our second visit to this restaurant in the past 12 months, and we enjoyed ourselves both times. We were there around 6.30 and there were a surprising number of other diners, for a Tuesday evening. I liked the fact that they asked if we wanted poppadoms, as so many Indian restaurants bring them unasked in order to charge you for them. I rarely want them, as I find Indian food so filling. My husband had a starter but the other three of us just had a main, rice, nan and a dhal side dish. Each dish tasted different, not salty, and no pool of grease on the top. We enjoyed our meal and I plan to return next time I visit the area.

I felt the staff let the restaurant down . I have been to lots of Indian restaurants and this would be okay after a night out .Very disappointed .

Came here with my mum, uncle and aunty last year, great Indian and would highly recommend for visitors and locals alike. All tastes catered for, fantastic curries and sides. Have also had take away from here and thoroughly enjoyed.Would recommend.

Never tried indian and thought since it was our anniversary we would try it. Staff very friendly. Place is clean. Food was great for what we ordered, because never tried it what we did have was good. If you know indian food then you cant go wrong, well worth a visit, they even do carry out meals.

Freshly cooked, quick service with a smile. Delicious food and a great choice. Best Indian meal I've had in a long long time. Always enough people in to make an atmosphere, and obviously locals which tells it own story. Well worth a visit if you're passing through.

Since recently refurbishing the restaurant it is welcoming and of a high standard without the overly priced price tag to go with it. Nice to take away or sit in - though we always end up eating more when we sit in.

Great prices, relaxed atmosphere and good service. The plates were a bit dated and looked like something you would get in a greasy spoon. Don't get dressed up lol

Our first visit since it had been refurbished and its really smart. Was quite busy but was shown to our table and had drinks served quickly. Meal itself was very tasty and served with no delay. Would recommend a visit.

Had a lovely meal at Cafe India last night. Do not live in Huntly but was worth the journey. Myself and 5 others all enjoyed the food. It quickly became very busy as large party arrived but that never changed the excellent quality of service from the friendly staff there. New decor was inviting and stylish. Comfortable friendly atmosphere. Will go back there again. Great night had by all. Thank you Cafe India.

Best Indian food. Really good choice and menu lengthy,portions are generous. We regularly order family takeaway meals and often have specific request which are always honored. Staff really friendly.

Had a trip to cafe India recently and what a great choice it turned out to be,the new refurbished decor was warm and welcoming and the staff were also welcoming polite and very attentive the food is no doubt the best Indian food I have had for a long time,I can strongly recommend this place and can't wait to go back.
