We enjoyed our breakfast here this morning as part of our stay in the adjacent Ibis hotel. A nice selection of hot and cold buffet options, and the very helpful lady working there offered to bring in extra hash browns, which were fabulous. Good coffee from a machine, but poor, over-diluted orange juice. Great bacon and sausages too, so overall it was good value for money.

Had morning coffee with my wife after a shopping spree in town, thought would give the green cafe a try. Was made very welcome by Liz nothing was too much bother, the atmosphere was relaxed and it was a pleasure to chill out.

Was staying in the ibis hotel which this is in and had breakfast and dinner here a couple of times. They've improved the dinner menu since I was last here and it has a nice selection of dishes. Had the slow cooked lamb, which was very nice. But then came again on the Friday evening and they only had their snack menu on, which was a very limited menu. My colleague and I ended up having pizza, as we couldn't be bothered to go anywhere else. It was quite nice actually and the young man serving was very friendly. On a Sunday it is closed, except for breakfast. Quite surprising that they haven't got the full menu at weekends, as there are plenty of people staying in the hotel and not many places to eat nearby.

This is a combined restaurant and bar - small tables, large TV screen, more customers for the bar than for the restaurant. The menu offers a reasonable choice. I had a Spanish omelette to start (very light and fluffy) followed by the special - sirloin steak, with mushrooms, tomato, chips and corn on the cob. I wasn't asked how I wanted it done, but it came nicely pink, which was fine by me. To drink: a good red wine (I forget which, I just went with what the waiter recommende

Stayed at the Ibis next door and thought seeing the menu in the room it would be a nice plce to eat. BOY were we wrong!!!!!.... Well safe to say we wont be going there to eat again... walked in and it was empty which was a bit worrying but we thought hey we are hungry, then had to seat ourselves... waiter came over and asked us what drinks we wanted even though we hadnt been presented menus and decided to ask us what we fancied when we didnt even know what they did!!!!! then had to wait a further 5 minutes for the menus to be brought over.... order was taken fine.... stater came out and had literally just finished the last mouthfull before 2 of our 4 mains were brought out.. 10 minutes later we finally recieved the other 2 meals while our friends had already eaten their dinner!!! awful and very poor customer service!!!!!!

I'm not in the habit of giving negative reviews but here, there is no alternative. The only redeeming feature of this place is its proximity to my accommodation; everything else about my experience was dire. I chose to eat here, last night, out of convenience as I'm staying at the Ibis and limping from a recent accident. I walked in primed for the set 3 course menu advertised in the hotel lifts: a choice of a few starters, mains and desserts for £15 which seems reasonable. I'd already opted for the calamari, gammon and black forest slice. On entering, I hesitated, expecting the lady behind the counter to point me to a table. Instead there was an awkward pause. She was as welcoming as a Soviet battleship on a foggy night. I politely asked if I should seat myself which was met with a grunt. I don't think she understood what I'd said. When I asked repeatedly (and slowly) about the set menu advertised in the hotel, she simply frowned, looking confused. In desperation, I opened the menu, ordered the onion bhaji to open which was met with the question, in a thick foreign accent, "Onion rings?" - "No, no," I said, "the Dhabas Specialty [menu description]. Onion bhaji?" - She wrote something down on her pad. So, we moved on to main course. - "The Corinthian Roast?" Frown. "Chicken?" - "No chicken today," she replied, dismissively. - "OK, the steak and ale pudding?" - "Steak and Alley pie." - "No, steak and ale pudding." - "Pie." - "Alright, then, I'll have that." The starter turned out to be four meagre bhaji balls, burnt to a crisp, served on a bed of rocket, with a tomato dip (rather than the yoghurt advertised). Edible but not great. Good value at £3.45? Not really. However, the pièce de résistance was the "steak and ale pudding, served with thick chips, mushy peas and a red wine jus." A pudding is generally suet pastry, preferably steamed. This was assuredly a pie... a cheap, supermarket steak pie (£2.50 for four over the road at Tesco), deep-fried thin chips (not even McCain's!), Bird's Eye frozen peas and a gravy, so thin that I could see all the way to the bottom of the jug it was served in. It had never been close to a bottle of red wine. I ate it, not wishing an argument where simple communication was limited. I'm afraid I have had better in a greasy spoon for £3.50. They charged me 12 quid! A fellow diner (one of only 4 people in the place) went through the same "Steak and Alley" conversation. I approached him and asked what he thought, when the meal arrived. He resignedly said, "It's a hotel, innit? They always overcharge." Typically British! When the Potemkin came to remove the plates, I asked for the bill, hoping for a quick exit. I waited 15 minutes while she held a thorough conversation with a couple of colleagues then approached the bar myself, wallet in hand. The final price was almost £20, including an overpriced bottle of Coke (advertised as 330ml on the menu but actually a 200ml bottle). I was glad to get out of there and will never return. Other reviewers seem to have had a different experience, I see. Well, stick to a quick coffee while shopping but do not eat here - it was the worst value I've seen in a long, long time.

I had the same meal(butternut squash) at the ibis in Norwich it was great, today the service was rushed, how can you expect to eat a starter in 2 minutes before the main course arrives, when it does it cold and half cooked.

We popped into the Cafe Green at the rear of the Ibis Hotel for a quick lunch, but the service was so bad we nearly walked out. There was only one member of staff taking orders and preparing hot drinks and snacks, she kept apologising but did not really sound sincere. It was only when I was paying the bill and she asked if I had enjoyed my meal. I said that it was very tasty once it arrived but we had to wait such a long time, that she apologised more sincerely. You only get one chance to make a good first impression and for me they blew it.
