It's got a new name now, The Albionn. I stopped in for a coffee with my husband early Saturday morning. I had a lovely creamy cappuccino along with a toasted croissant with butter and jam. I found the two young ladies waiting tables very polite and attentive. The atmosphere was very relaxed with subtle background music. Some events posted on the windows which was nice to see.

I don't normally bother to review when the service is bad but this took the biscuit. On arrival we selected a table, in seconds a waitress gave us food menus. She was politely told we only wanted drinks and did we need to order at the counter? Yes she replied. My Sister went to the counter but we were then given drinks menus. The waitress hovered so the others ordered but I wanted to see what cakes they had (not on the menu). Still she hovered despite me asking her to give us 5 minutes, so I just said I will have a pot of tea with the teabag out of the pot ( I like it weak). The drinks arrived, teabag was in pot, I let it go. Upon paying I asked how much my tea was, £1.20 she replied. I left the money on the table and went to the toilet. When I came back my sister told me the girl had taken £9.20 off the table and not brought any change back. I asked where it was, she replied there wasn't any...ok well if the hot choc was £2.70, latte £2.30 and tea £1.20 that wasn't £9.20. It was she replied. Twice I asked to see the bill. After a while a hastily written bill came showing the tea at £3.90!! No way is tea more that a hot choc with cream ..even Costa tea is half that. I questioned it but was rudely told the price was on the menu. Why did you tell me it was £1.20 then. She shrugged and went off. I asked another waitress, yep tea is £3.90. No apologies for wrong quote, rude attitude and she then rolled her eyes at another customer about my complaint. Not only was the order not as requested, the service shocking but the price was beyond rediculous. Avoid this place. No wonder it was mostly empty!

Came across this place by accident today. We were desperate for a bite to eat and a coffee. Really impressed with decor, staff and lovely food. We had beef burger Patti with wedges. Really reasonable at £4.99 and it was excellant. Well worth a visit. Would definitely return. Cakes looked lovely as well but we were too full to sample those.

6 of us ordered food. 5 came pretty much together. Took ages for the final meal to come out. Only to then be told that they “had to wait for potato wedges”. The manager was very rude and condescending and stated that it was because the panini and wedges was on the “lunch menu” and we had ordered breakfasts as well. We were not told at the beginning that there would be a wait and if that was the case, surely soup & a jacket potato with cheese and beans is not classed as a “breakfast”. They used any excuse they could find. Did not keep us updated with how long it would be as we would’ve all just ordered breakfasts to begin with. No attempt to satisfy us in the end, no suggestion of food, drink or a refund to compensate. To be quite honest, to anyone who wants to visit this cafe, just don’t bother and save your money!

If you in Dudley town centre , this is ideal for a light lunch bite , it’s also licensed. The staff are delightful, it’s clean and the dacor is nicely done . Out the back is a tiny private courtyard to sit/eat in , it’s quite a sun trap . Would pop in here again regularly

We mostly go to the Cafe Grande for the monthly poetry nights and always get there in time to have an evening meal before we start. Food is always good quality and well presented. Don't expect fast food, but expect good food served well. They currently have added a very moreish infused gin to their drinks menu.

A well needed beef and vegetable stew on a bitter, snowy, wintery march day. Plenty of beef, good selection of veg and a soft warm brown as an accompaniment. Very nice!

Ordered 2 breakfasts, I've full English and I've with just a select few items but got charged full price of 2 English breakfasts. Waited 25 mins for food. Toast only toasted one side, fried egg not cooked so a snotty egg was served. Complained and asked for refund because of the state of the food after such a long wait. We were the only customers in!! Refund was refused. Asked for another cup of tea at least so I could at least have my cuppa WITH my breakfast and got told I'd have to buy one. Customer service I think not! We asked for salt and pepper and brown sauce which never came. And for a replacement egg again never saw it. Why we were charged full price for half a tinned tomato, 4 mushrooms a spoonful of beans & a rock hard poached egg I'll never know. My full English plate was same price and late was full in comparison..she had more plate than food!! Horrible place! Deserves to be shut down for ripping ppl off. Avoid at all costs of you don't want salmonella. I've added a picture of the egg..horrible!

I was meeting people for a networking meeting and it was my first visit. It's very rustic with plaster stripped away to reveal bare brick work and the furniture is probably shabby chic but I'm no expert on decor. While I was waiting for people to arrive, I ordered a large mocha with cream on top £2.30. The person who served me was very attentive and polite. There weren't many other people in but the ones who ere there seemed to have enjoyed their meals and were obviously having a good time. The same lady who served me brought my coffee to my table with a complimentary caramelised biscuit. It was served in a one of those glass cups with a small handle and it was super. My colleagues came and ordered a coffee, a scone with cream and jam and a jacket potato and they said it was all of a high quality. The next time I'm in Dudley, I'll certainly be calling in here again. Highly recommended,

This place is so cute and the atmosphere is really good. They have a good menu considering the location but it's really good! They have lots of different options on jacket potatoes which is nice to see, lots of veggie options thank God :) not overpriced at all, my jacket potato and cold drink didn't even come to £6 so can't complain about here really. Will bring family and friends back!

What a totally bizarre place! Visited here twice in a past few months, the service was never any good. Either they were slow, forgot parts of the meal and you will have most certianly drank your coffee long before any food will arrive. The coffees good but would not recommend the food!!

From the moment I walked in the customer service was impeccable, there was a perfect spot for my husband and I, the table was cleaned immediately. The food and coffee was served in about two minutes and they were very flavoursome (also anice variety of syrups to choose from for the coffees). To my delight there were also gluten-free cakes from across the globe. The music was played at an ideal volume and I was very impressed with the aesthetics and overall ambience. We are both glad we visitied and my husband has now become a fan of coffee like myself! We prefer this cafe to anywhere like Starbucks or Costa and it deserves a bigger title, honestly. This is now our new coffeee spot,Sincerely impressed

Dudley doesn't have that many nice cafes where you can linger over a well-made coffee or a nice cup of tea in pleasant surroundings. This is the exception - as evidenced by the pleasant staff and equally pleasant customers. The decor is quite trendy and it's the sort of place where you could have your morning coffee on a Saturday. We arrived at 11am, which was an ideal time for brunch, and they have a great deal on breakfast - the works, including hot drink and toast, for £3.50. All served fresh and hot, to order. We noticed, as well, that they have a nice range of slides, and home-made soup, which we didn't try, but it looked like they'd be a good bet for when we go back. The prices of the other items on the menu wasn't as fabulous as the breakfast, but hey, they have to make some profit somehow as there can't be much profit on the breakfast offer. All very pleasant, and the sort of place I'd heartily recommend.

There are a few cafes in Dudley, unfortunately almost of them are based around a business model of formica tables and frying old shoes in a waste-paper bin filled with grease and despair. Cafe Grande however is a different beast entirely, with comfortable seating, low-lighting, tasteful decor and no despair whatsoever. The sandwiches and cakes are always excellent, but on my most recent visit I opted for the full English breakfast. While it has to be said that its probably the smallest full English you'll find in Dudley, £3.50 including a Chai Latte is a genuine give-away price.Service was incredibly slow, but we were compensated with free drinks so I can hardly complain (although I just did). Decent bacon and sausage with well-cooked hash brown and scrambled eggs make for a satisfying experience. If you close your eyes, you can almost imagine that you're not in Dudley anymore. However, the real accolades must go to the Chai Latte, which is the finest you'll find anywhere. Even better (and far cheaper) than the same drink from Cafe Nero, and certainly a cut above the poison being sold at Costa Coffee.

Popped in looking for a quick but nutritious lunch. Ordered a large Americano (was the size of a grande in Costa like a soup bowl) bottle of water and Jacket Potato plain with roast vegetables and side salad. All for just over a tenner. The portion sizes were very generous and staff were helpful with omitting dairy from my meal. Clean with nice decor, shame they don't have more custom for a Saturday afternoon as my friend and I were the only ones in there. Would go again. Varied breakfast and lunch options. Also serves alcohol.

I've visited here a few times as it's one of the only places in Dudley with a decent atmosphere to get a coffee or lunch. On these grounds I definitely recommend visiting on a lunch break or something. Menu has plenty of lunch options, specials, and the place is decorated nice enough. However, the service is very much hit and miss. Sometimes it's fine - we get what we want, the please and thank yous are all there, but other times it's awful. The last time I went the waiter that served us at the till got our order wrong twice and then denied his mistake even though we had the receipt proving otherwise. I may give it ago again if I'm back in the area, but the service has left a bad taste in my mouth.

They may be called cafe grande but they serve tiny drinks! nice people very rushed and not very attentive due to serving many people but not happy when i asked for a LARGE apple juice I got a tiny glass with about 100 ml of drink in it. Finished it in 3 mouthfuls. Not good when you pay £2.80 for it! Lovely setting and decor of the place but improve on the size of the drinks please!!

Me and my boyfriend we looking for a cafe in the dudley area where would could get some breakfast, having looked at google maps for the closest cafe we came across this one. The reviews on here were ok too so we decided to try it. Upon walking in the staff were amongst conversation with one another and took their time to greet us which straight away showed their lack of customer service. When they finally managed to approach us my boyfriend asked what breakfast options they had - to which the female waitress replied "well there's egg & bacon sandwiches or panini's or whatever" ...We decided not to eat here in the end due to lack of customer service skills and poor choice of food. The fact they boast about having professional staff on their website is laughable.

I have visited this cafe three times. There are many female staff at this cafe, so I was surprised to see a male. Not just any male, but one hot diggity damn fine male. He was very polite and spoke very clearly. He made me the most amazing large cup of tea, which I drank very slowly so i could watch him work. Unfortunately he has a girlfriend that he loves dearly and always talks about her. Lucky lucky girl. Great service chappy, hope you and your lucky girlfriend live happily ever after.

I have mixed feelings about Cafe grande - on the one hand it is somewhere nice for lunch, with a decent selection and a cosy atmosphere. On the other hand it heads towards pricey and the smell of something (food, Cooking oil, grease??) clings to you as you leave - seriously I had to wash a cost after eating there and had to spray my friend with air freshener back at work. But focus - food: the food is nice, I've had potatoes, paninis, baguettes. All good. Can be a bit meagre on the portion size if you're not a salad fan (get some wedges) I'm told the coffee is nice (I don't drink that). Price: errrrr well it's a nice treat but you certainly couldn't come here a couple of times a week for lunch. Service: staff are always friendly and I've never had an order go wrong yet. Time is sometimes a bit of a push - for a lunch hour you can sometimes be cutting it fine.

Visited this café during mid afternoon with my husband and grandson. I loved the décor, the choice of sofas, leather chairs or dining chairs and tables. The coat stand and also free newspapers added a relaxed atmosphere. We had a coffee, tea with complimentary biscuit and a large milk shake all for under £5, a lot less than the usual coffee chains. There was a blackboard displaying the type of filled Jacket potatoes they did and there were also paninis and wedges available and of course muffins. I didn't really have a good look at the menu but nothing seemed overpriced. If you want to get away from the bustle for a while, pop in enjoy a calming few moments. The service was fine. I liked it very much.

Unfortunately my experience at this Cafe on my first visit was diabolical. The staff ignored me for 5 mins whilst I stood at the counter with purse in hand and was told they would be with me in minute. Then proceeded to ignore me. I asked how long the food wait would be and the girl said 20 mins, then eventually when the young man came to take my order he told me they weren't serving food as they were too busy!!!! This is a cafe that wont serve you a tart and salad. Shame on you and your staff. Totally Disgusted and shall never go in again

Decided to check this cafe out as I have walked past it many times.A pleasant atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff and generous portions of tasty reasonably-priced food. The tuna-mayo jacket potato came with a large portion of salad and the roasted vegetable & melted cheese panini was delicious and came with potato wedges. They do a selection of wraps, baguettes, snacks and cake and an extensive list of hot and cold drinks and smoothies. The sofas and armchairs were comfortable and the garden area at the back is a nice touch,as are the daily newspapers for customers to browse. If you want to relax with a cappuccino and a newspaper,or enjoy a tasty snack then this is the place to come.

Great coffee, freshly cooked food to order and a lovely atmosphere. I work in Dudley and this really is the best cafe for miles around. There's a great selection of baguettes, paninis, salads, jacket potatoes and homemade soups plus a daily special. They also offer smoothies and homemade cakes. If you're looking for a healthy option then their salads are lovely plus if you choose a panini you have a choice of salad or wedges. The staff are lovely and it also has a secluded outdoor area - which is great in the Summer.
