Cafe Giardino in Croydon

Coffee nice. Staff polite. Breakfast…..I appreciate that some elements may be fried but I had garden breakfast. Tomatoes fried, spinach fried (A first for me), Haloumi fried, mushrooms fried, they were nice but my whole mouth tasted like of oil and I’ve not felt great since. Toast was not fried! Maybe also use smaller plates. Huge plates with not much on them. Man serving had done his best to spread it out. Cost £12 something. VFM. I think not

As visitors to Croydon we were looking for somewhere to lunch and were surprised at the lack of choice in the centre of town. This place proved to be a good choice, offering a wide choice of food, and service with a smile. The portions were good and the food tasty. There is a tempting display of the fresh dishes at the counter, which made it hard to decide on a final dish, however my wife and I were both happy with our choices and would certainly return in the future.

Revolting salmon and cream cheese baguette. Paid !8.95 for overly salty smoked salmon that was too tough too eat in places.

Some of our friends met for lunch and chat. Food was good. We sat and talked for a long time without any disturbance. Staff are nice. Only criticism- it is quite dark inside,because the windows are high up, but it’s the building,not any fault of the shop.

Good food and cozy place. Ideal for lunch with kids and family and having some relaxing time. Very welcoming. Inside the mall.

These are two of the most friendly staff I have see in a long time. Very pleasant nothing was too much. I ordered a jacket with cheese and beans I was given options grated or melted. Food arrives quickly, very hot and plenty of cheese which is great as you rarely get enough. Restaurant was clean and tidy. If I am in the area I will visit again.

The food is overpriced, bland and tasteless. The manager laughs at you if you complain. Altogether not a very welcoming or nice place to eat.

Bad ordering system. Signs in way of access to speak to staff to place pasta order. I aways get pushed in front of because of the set up. I go back for the food not for the service but will spend my money in Zabardast from now on. This time my pasta was so gluggy... I can cook better myself and I'm pretty useless in the kitchen!

Had jacket potato with chilli con carne. Potato was hot, but the chilli was straight out the chiller cabinet: had to take it back to be heated. And the chilli seemed to lack any actual chillis. Otherwise, quite good place. Staff energetic. But can only give it 3 stars for lack of proper service..

The service is quick and even though it is full, you can get a seat or table easily as people come and go. The portions are large and the food is good, Ideal for catching up with someone or a quick meeting throughout the day

Very little on offer had any temptation I couldnt believe they charge extra for putting a sprinling of cheese on a plate far better places to visit like Pizza Express

I went here to pick up takeaway coffees while in Croydon. The lady at the counter was just rude and slow; as if she did not want to do takeaway coffees. If that is the case, then it's probably best just not to offer them. The coffee tasted heinous (the worst coffee I had in London). I probably would not have written this review if the lady was normal and pleasant. She begrudged mixing in sugar and it was just an unpleasant experience for such a terrible product. I am really not sure how this place is in business.

We had large, tasty portions of pasta and large side salads. Service is not the best though (we had to repeat ourselves alot) and it's a bit pricey considering you queue to order rather than have full table service.

Today, I chose the chicken with creamy mushroom pasta. I would have added a salad but remembered how large it was, from my last visit. The 'side salad' is in fact, a meal in it's self. The food here never fails to impress. From the host of sandwich fillings - including Cray Fish - to the many and varied main dishes. Portions are generous and the quality supreme. Really good for a quick lunch. Big choice of sandwiches and paninis. The only downside was the chilli con carne. Salt was missing from it but overall good. Will visit again.

Came across this place last year but only had a coffee. When visiting Croydon last week decided to pop in for lunch. The selection of fresh food displayed was excellent so many choices, salads, jacket potatoes, sandwiches a very good selection indeed. I opted for a prawn mayonnaise sandwich and my partner a ham, they certainly don’t scrimp on the fillings...a sandwich beating me that’s a first!!! Would definitely visit any Cafe Giardino again,when in the south east. Cafe Giardino should definitely open up in the south west with Bath being the first I would be a regular customer.

We visited for coffee whilst working in Croydon. It was very noisy despite only a few tables occupied so we sat outside. There looks to be a good range of food however we didn't eat. They have a points scheme which is beneficial for regulars. There are power sockets if you want to work in there. There is wifi although not always consistent service.

As a first time visitor we qued up to order behind just one other customer

Tenía un buen café aquí y el servicio era muy bueno. Trajeron el café a mi mesa (sin pedirlo), ya que a mi hija en el cochecito. Visité a la hora del almuerzo en la semana y que no estaba muy lleno. Un montón de bocadillos.

After my daughter's build-a-bear party we were fortunate enough to eat here with a large group. The staff were extremely helpful and polite and friendly. The food was just right for the occasion and very reasonably priced. Many Thanks

Fuimos para el almuerzo con los amigos. Deliciosas ensaladas y sándwiches. Buena selección de ensaladas y varias coberturas y rellenos de sándwiches. Algunos platos calientes. Todos sabrosos. Buen servicio de mostrador. El personal está siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Visitamos la unidad central. Me encanta el café giardino. Visita a sitios de bromley crawley y sabemos que están siempre como bueno. Buena relación calidad-precio. Gracias a todos.

Had lunch here. Reasonable selection of food. Ranging from sandwiches to traditional pasta dishes. As per title of this entry, food was Ok nothing to complain about, but nether was it good. Meatballs were bland and pastries were mass produced and plain.

Café parecía un lugar agradable para sentarse después de algunas compras, pero eso es lo único que se puede decir sobre este lugar. Extremadamente caro para la comida y servicio de calidad, incluso de menor calidad!

Popped in to this delightful looking cafe as I had half hour to spare before an appointment. I orders a regular latte and it was the worst one I've ever had. It tasted burnt like they had left the coffee to sit in the machine too long before initialising the water. The temperature of the coffee was actually scalding. I like a hot coffee but this is silly it's like it was brewed over a volcano it was that hot! The service was quick, polite and friendly. Maybe the food is better than the coffee. I hope so.

I have struggled to find a place to get a sandwich made to order - I have finally found the perfect place!Good menu with lots of choice, forme perfect for "lunch to go". The sandwich I had was good quality and very nice.I can see other reviews say expensive but I personally think the pricing is reasonable. I have tried another cafe in Whitgift centre who charged £4 for cheap sliced bread and minimal filling.Staff were friendly, cafe was busy but I didn't wait long at all. Would recommend and will definitely use again.

I came across this cafe end of last week as me and my husband was going to go mcdonalds opposite but it was packed and no seats, so we tried this cafe that had a lovely selection of foods, I had the vegetable lasagne and garlic bread and my husband had the pizzas and chips, it was lovely to sit there, we did get noticed quickly, however the staff looked really stressed and rushed I felt sorry for them, the orders were piling up a bit and in the end we had some food and the rest was brought to the table 5 mins later as it was really busy. The food was yummy and I cannot wait to tell my family about this place, the only slight thing i did not like much was I had the milkshake banana and it did not taste like banana or a nice milkshake maybe they could look at what they use, but other than that it was a tidy place and nice food and staff were friendly enough.

I have been a customer of giardino for a long time, working in the shopping center it is easier to get my breackfast there before work, but in the morning's that i dont see the older man behind the counter i try to avoid it because the girl that is there takes so long to serve me and i dont feel wellcome, i dont know why but she allways serves everyone before me just the other day she took 15min for my toast i explain i was late for work her answer was (get up more early of bed and you will have time) really??? If i go some where for breackfast i dont expect that service. I believe its bot just me just the other day i was seating down she was in the phone a customer came in asked for egg's on toast and she said you have to wait 15min has im sorting a credit card machine problem. There was more staff that day why she didn't ask for help?. I dont like making complaint but being a manager myself i think that is unexpecteble i'm sorry for this long complaint but i feel like your company will lose alot of customer like this i will be one of them. Thank you for your patience.

We came in the morning around 10am when it was just opened. What attracted us was the amount of variety of attractive food on display which makes it so inviting - given that there wasn't much other choice available at that time so we thought lets go in and give it a try.I had a full english breakfast which cost around £7 and my wife had schnitzel pork with small salad costing total of £9 !For £7 , the one sausage that came with it was the vilest cheapest quality sausage one can offer to any one to eat - it was worst than my nightmares of school diners!The schnitzel pork again was another piece of rubber - where in the whole world did they get these junk? - recycled from the bins?? and They claim is "freshly made" ??They only thing good about it was the their - tea tasted like tea and it's cheaper than Star Bucks!!Please DO NOT go there I hardly rate something as terrible - but this cafe is the stone age typical builders cafe on back of a mobile trailer but at least they do breakfast for £3 quid back then years ago...but don't expect this type of cafe to exists in a modern shopping centre in London!!Go at your own peril - you have been WARNED!!!

I used to like this friendly restaurant and called in for breakfast or lunch whenever I came to Croydon for shopping. On my last two visits, when my recently-retired husband joined me for a meal, to our pleasant surprise, we were given a 10% discount. When we asked why, the lady told us it was for the over-60s. Well, I am 63 and had never been offered this discount before, not is there any notice displayed concerning this.Today, I came in on my own for breakfast. While eating, I realised that I had not been given the 10% discount. So I enquired of the young man on the till if this discount was still offered. I was told that I should have asked for it at the time of payment. A refund afterwards was impossible! So how come on the two visits with my husband, when we made no mention of this at the till, we were given it as a matter of course? I thought, as a gesture of goodwill, they would have given me a refund or voucher for my next visit. Shabby treatment of a regular customer, in my opinion. I won't be coming back.

Have been a few times now for a cheeky lunch whilst shopping and havent been disappointed! Staff are friendly, the food is fresh and delicious and the price is fair aswell. A must for a much healthier choice to macdonalds or burger king abd much more relaxing.

One of the best places in Croydon!! I had an amazing lasagne and bruschetta, what can I say but wow! So fresh and full of flavour!! Very clean and friendly staff

Have visited this restaurant for many years when shopping in Croydon. It's an ideal place to have a quick lunch and chat with friends. The staff are really friendly and efficient and the food is just what you want when in a hurry.

Cafe Giardino is located in the Shopping Centre (unit 30) in the heart of Croydon. Popped in for lunch, and all the dishes looked fabulous. The dishes looked as though they were prepared to a high standard, so it was difficult to choose. I had the vegetable lasagne with crayfish and avocado as a side. I believe there was lettuce in the crayfish avocado, it tasted very acidic, so although it looked nice it was far from that. The dishes are a little pricing too, I paid £7.95 for JUST a serving of lasagne and £3.00 for a side. I believe it’s a Portuguese Cafe, the staff were polite and good service.

Café giardino is very nice for a quick lunch during the weekend shopping.. nice jack potatoes and the panino with the Milanese is superb..

I always enjoy the food at Giardino croydon. It always seem fresh to me and I like the way it's all on display, which makes it look extra delicious. Last time I went I had a chicken pesto salad which was very enjoyable.

By far my favourite sandwich place to come to when I am in my home area! Cafe Giardino Croydon and also Bromley are gorgeous! They have one of the largest ranges of fillings to choose from and you can have them inside a wrap, Panini or Ciabatta! I absolutely love the Giardino special which is a combination of chicken, bacon, mozzarella and spinach! I am almost drooling just thinking of it! They are freshly made in front of you and they taste amazing with so much flavour and juice! I must go here as soon as I am next home!

Absolutely the worst place in croydon! if you are searching for lunch in croydon avoid this place at all costs! The soup is heinz tinned soup, the chips are refried and at £2.35 a portion a rip off. The panini at £4.99 lol I am forced to give this place one star..it deserves none!

Cafe Giardino within Croydon's Centrale shopping centre is a very dismal place.Its location can't be helped but the staff have no need to reflect the morale within the area.I went to Cafe Giardino for a late Sunday afternoon snack, hoping for something with a little heart put into it that the standard coffee chain outlets. I found the staff were eager to pack up and not so eager to serve, It was 4 p.m and the centre didn't close until 5 p.m. I didn't realise it would be possible to put less effort into a panini than what they did! Once the panini had been toasted, a candle flame would have been more effective than what was used to toast it, I waited to pay. The cashier was spending his time focusing on making a hot beverage, I assumed for the customers in front of myself. Little did I know he would go on to make another and serve it to customers sat down. He then began a similar process for the customer in front. At this point, I was certain my food would be cold so I asked a member of staff packing up if I could pay. He told me I could eat and pay after. My food was missing main, listed ingredients and was so bland that I didn't want to finish eating it. I wish I hadn't bothered paying but I was so angered by this situation that I just wanted to leave without creating a fuss. I will never visit here again.
