Cafe Giacomo is centrally located and is a nice cozy spot to get away. The scones are nice as is the staff.

Went into the Cafe for a cuppa & I thought will have some Toast I asked the Girl if the price was for 2 Slices of Toasts she replied no 1 Slice at a Price of £1.15 which in my opinion was well over priced.I then said can I have 3 Slices so that cost me £3.45 I could have bought 2 cheap supermarket loafs of bread for less than the price of 1 slice of Toast day light robbery .I go regular so will be my last visit to this over priced cafe .I can go to a other Food place & a popular place more expensive but the Cafe Giacomo was well over priced. So will not be back at this Place .

I would be in Cafe Giacomo almost every weekend when I was a little girl. I have good memories of the place.

Been there a handful of times over a period of years and won't be back. Cheerful staff don't make up for misrepresentation - went in at 2pm on Saturday to be told "the chips finished at 1pm, no haggis, no sausages for kids meals"!!? Cramped seating and substandard toilets just underlined what a sorry place it really is.

Giacomo has been a Dunfermline institution for decades. I'm mid-forties and though I don't consider myself old, I've nonetheless seen a lot of change in the auld toon. I've been coming to Giacomo since I was a toddler in the late 70's when my Gran would bring me in after getting her messages at Templetons (which was a long vanished supermarket in beside the old courthouse), long before the Kingsgate was there, when the CO-OP was a massive department store that took up the entire bottom end of the High Street before they knocked it all down, when the bus stance was where the new tescos is now, when you could walk right through James street to the old post office and commercial inn and the long-closed public toilets before reaching Woolworths when it was still there long before What Every Woman Wants took its place, when the toon still had a cinema (and I mean before Robins) before the new COOP building that was never used was built and knocked back down years later, when the Stance Cafe was still there, when Maloco's cafe was still there, when the hollywood video centre was at the Glen Bridge with the big painting of Marilyn Monroe on the side, when the retail park that houses B&Q was still the upper station, when Carnegie baths only had the old original victorian pool, when Sensei Jim Wood was running Karate classes in Carnegie centre long before relocating to Australia, when night magic was the club to be seen in, before Littlewoods was rebuilt at the start of the '80s, when there was a Wimpey burger bar halfway down Guildhall Street, when there was an old green engine and farm and other animals in the Glen and all the other places that have come and mostly gone since as Dunfermline has sadly become a far lesser town centre than it once was... Giacomo has always been there. It saw me through my later years in High school when I would grab a coffee or hot chocolate in Winter before walking up Pilmuir Street to Queen Anne High (before it too was torn down and rebuilt. Nothing is sacred it seems!) and it has seen me through plenty of nostalgic visits since. You see, the secret to Giacomo for me is that in all that time, it has remained almost exactly the same, same chairs, same tables, same layout, same coffeee machine blowing steam. When almost everything else about the toon has changed, Giacomo is a great and comfortingly familiar place to return to whenever I'm in Dunfermline. I moved away years ago, but will always return to my favourite cafe when I come home. Please, don't ever change, you kick the backside off of most other places any day of the week, but if you can, bring back the cheese plant that used to sit above the stairs. :)

Been an established Coffee shop for years. Hot food cooked fresh and a good menu. Food Is tasty but I would say some of the prices are not cheap. When it's busy queues can be long and service although friendly tends to be a bit slow,

Went in before 4pm on a Saturday. We were looking forward to a good old-fashioned fry up at this traditional cafe. However... Looking at the menu above the counter, the nearest we could see were hot filled rolls listed. No problem. I opted for a bacon and egg roll. Close enough. However... "We've run out of bacon". Really? OK. No problem, I'll have a link sausage and egg roll. "We've only got square sausage left. "And it'll need to be scrambled egg, cos we stop frying eggs at 3 o'clock"! Really? I opted for a gloomy square sausage on a roll and my wife had soup. Far from what we had been looking forward to. As we left, we saw an A-board on the High Street, advertising the cafe's "All-Day Breakfast" for £4.99, showing a lovely fry-up including, you guessed it: A lovely fried egg! It didn't include any disclaimers such as: "We stop cooking certain foods at arbitrary times of day, so "All-Day" is a bit of a misnomer", or: "We don't actually stock the food required to make an all-day breakfast, but at least this is a nice big photo of one. *Sigh* You may have by now discerned that we were pretty disappointed.

lovely friendly staff and the coffee is really good. It gets very busy and the regular people love it. It's out of sight of the main street so you could go past it but it is well worth a visit

I visited Giacomo's to see an art exhibition and fell in love with the cafe itself! Loved the untouched 60's furnishings. Lovely coffee - even if it's simple black or white , rather than Latte or cappuccino! Fantastic scones and cake. Great chat from the regulars- we had a great laugh! And much cheaper than Costa or Nero! We'll be back!

If you tire of the big corporate coffee uber brands and their prices then come here. It really is a Cafe of days gone by but that is the appeal. Don't expect a shiny polished brand here. It looks sounds and smells like every 50's Scottish Italian cafe your granny went to and took you as a bairn. Its much cheaper than the high street chains and your supporting a local business. All the food is home made from the bakery upstairs. You can keep your hipster cafes, this is the authentic cafe experience. Not a mac book or beard in sight! They still do a Knickerbocker Glory to this day 30 to 40 years later!

Stopped for little granddaughter to have lunch. Homemade lentil soup was just fab and you can order in medium or large portion. She loved it! Nice home baking A good place to stop for a light bite when out shopping. Only down side is toilets are downstairs and there is only one each for men and women

Portion was appalling. The decor in the place might be wartime but they don’t have to ration the food do they? Had a baked potato and the salad that accompanied it had us in hysterics. A teaspoon of coleslaw 2 wafer thin tomato slices and a scabby piece of lettuce. Terrible. Won’t be back.

Went with friends who remember the pace from childhood and were excited to return after many years. big place, so went through to back for peace and quiet to talk.. buckets on floor catching leaks, old towels to soak up something. Tea was lukewarm and filled buns very ordinary. I had crunchy pieces of shell in my egg roll. Place looked grubby and uncared for. Cannot fault the service, but more care in the product and presentation would be appreciated.

We went here for a cup of tea as it is dog friendly. That was a big plus. However you can only seem to order via the screen opposite the counter and this was not easy with lots of people milling around. We found seats towards the back and the lighting was poor which was probably just as well as it felt slightly grubby. My husband wanted to use the toilet and said it was filthy and certainly the queue of people waiting to use the one toilet would not have allowed a clean. Overall not somewhere I would return to as a parent of a student.

Visited this lunchtime with service users. Food was ok although 2 of the baked potatoes were very small with hardly any filling, the 3 filled rolls all good, no complaints. The issue arose when it came to paying, quite disorganised. The gentleman became visibly stressed, struggled to find the price of most items. We needed individual receipts + as the till didn't print these, they needed to be hand written, he didn't know what to do + when he asked for help he was told "he's busy" + "I've not a clue, sorry", there was a woman standing close by who looked like she could've helped but didn't. I made eye contact a couple of times but she just let him muddle on through. I ended up saying to him to forget about the receipts and I would do them myself on return to work. He was so anxious, really felt for him. He needed support + didn't get any. Wasn't a pleasant experience. I've worked with adults with additional support needs for nearly 20 years + have an autistic stepson. I'm all for places like Sensoriale but please support the staff to be the best that they can be.

Excellent. I wasn't expecting much considering it's a supermarket cafe but my breakfast was perfectly cooked. The hashbrowns and tastie scone where a real highlight. I got the big breakfast and a latte. The cost came to just under £12. Not bad compared to the other cafés in Dunfermline. Ladies who are serving are friendly, polite and very accommodating. The coffee is real, vibe in so comfy and cosy. You forget you are in the middle of the shop. I went during the summer holidays, so the were lot's of lovely families. Only con. The is only two people working in quite a large cafe. The serve is quick still. But they really should have more help. It's within walking distance of the high street and bus station. Overall very please. Will be back very soon.
