Cafe Fresco Rejects Department Store in Fife

Rejects is a fantastic store sadly let down by it's café. Granted it was very near to closing time however the staff were helpful and friendly. The coffee, with 3 shots, as we like it strong, resembled boiling hot water with milk. One of the worst we've had. The tray bake we chose was reasonably tasty, however it was melting and the plate offered was hot just having come out if the dishwasher. A bit concerned about their idea of cleaning. Observed a waitress lift a yoghurt lid which was yoghurt-side down. She then used her cloth to smear it all around the table!! Not sure if we will visit their cafe again - very disappointed.

We go at least once a fortnight mainly for the breakfast it’s lovely and value for money We also do a bit of shopping while there as we travel a good wee bit to get here

After spending the morning shopping in Rejects took my 92 year old mum for a quick cuppa and cake. By the time we got to table tea was so black it was undrinkable. (Small one cup tea pot and one mug). Got some hot water to top up and sat down to enjoy the tea. After a few minutes serious sounding cashier came up to table to inform me top ups were 50p and I hadn't paid. First time ever been charged for a little hot water. Left the tea to return to cashier to pay for the 'top up'. We were sitting there with bags of purchases from the shop and yet so humiliated in front of other diners. £5.00 for two tea bags and now it's £5.50 to make it drinkable. Suggest leaving tea bag out for diners to decide how strong they like their tea. Felt unwelcome and embarrassed and needless to say we won't be back.

Cafe very clean and the food was good .really good value for money . The members of staff made you feel welcome and have great customer service

Best place to come on a rainy day, I could spend hours here great atmosphere tasty cakes hot food and drinks, seating comfortable and brilliant for people watching

Fantastic homemade soup as usual...I had the vegetable broth and my husband opted for the mushroom! The filling in the sandwiches was substantial and the cakes and coffee afterwards were delightful.

Sadly for this restaurant within the store, breakfast has gone down hill and quality is so bad, what a way to cut corners. My 8 piece breakfast consisted off, bacon(2), sausage, slice sausage, black pudding, fried egg, potato scone(2), toast and tea. Bacon, cold and hard. (bent my fork trying to pick it up) Sausage look warm and cardboard like.(too much breadcrumbs, definitley a change to their usual) Slice sausage, (another big change here, not nearly as meaty or as big or as tasty) Black pudding, (hot and good) Fried egg, (fresh cooked and nice and soft) Potato scones, (again lookwarm, hard and chew chew chew) Toast, (fresh cooked and choice of bread) Tea, (was good, hot and fresh BUT they now have the audacity to charge an extra 50p for a pot of hot water) At this point we have no intensions of going back for breakfast. Maybe try lunch and see how or if it has changed quality.

Fantastic food and lots of it. Opted for the macaroni cheese and chips and it was to die for! Desserts looked a,a zing, but was so full up, couldn’t manage one. Very busy but quick turnover.

Great value for money breakfast with lots of choice. Able to pick your favourite items with some options cooked to order. Have been several times this year and never had a bad experience so can’t understand any of the bad reviews. It’s a busy place but have always managed to find a table even at lunch times. Smaller portions are available and are still very generous. Will definitely be back.

Breakfast was awful. Presentation was terrible, food slapped on plate. Most of food couldnt cut with knife e.g. blackpudding, haggis all dried up. Bread toasted on one side. No issue with getting a refund. Forgot to take photos, will never be back.

As always food and service excellent and can't be faulted. Staff work hard and are always friendly and helpful. So nice to be served by staff who actually look like they are happy to do so. Even during busy spells tables are quickly cleared and cleaned to an excellent standard - not just the cursory wipe over you see in some other cafes. I enjoy coming here. Keep up the good work guys you're all doing great.

I was worried about trying here after reading some of the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised on how nice a visit we had. This is a self service cafe inside a shop so not exactly fancy. Tables payed out well and all cleaned frequently. Large selection of cakes and breakfast items available. I had a small breakfast and hubby a large breakfast. You get to pick your items. It was busy when we were in but plenty of fresh items were being produced. Coffee was also good. Staff were friendly and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely return here next time I visit Kirkcaldy.

I usually meet friends here but on this occasion i was with my husband, who also liked the cafe. The food is very good and mostly home cooked and in particular we both loved their home made soup of which there is usually a choice of two varieties.

I visit here quite a lot as I live in the local area. While the food and drink is good, it’s quite overpriced. I’ve never had anything that was bad quality or disappointing but it’s very expensive for what you get. I find the more you order, the less you seem to spend. I’ve brought friends here who were delighted to find such a large comfortable cafe in the middle of a huge department store but they were taken aback at the price of a coffee and a cake. The other really bad point about this place is the staff- they’re not exactly rude, but they’re obviously not proponents of service with a smile. It’s rare to get eye contact unless they’re annoyed because you asked them something and they all stay behind the counter, no matter how many plates and cups are piling up on tables. Popped in for lunch before shopping, WHAT a let down absolutely ridiculous prices for what you get , got like 8 chips as a side on a panini which had no filling and all for £8.25 , i had to then go get a bowl of chips that were £3.25, poor taste,poor value for money, I wonder if its to do with changing hands of owner !!, but not what it used to be , I defo won't be back .

Popped in today and ended up having breakfast rolls for lunch/brunch. Tasty enough and staff were really friendly and helpful. 1 x roll with scrambled egg and two hash browns and 1 x roll with lorne sausage with two potato scones, 1 large latte and one special hot chocolate was £14.95. You have to ask at the till for sachets of sauce. We ended up sharing our choices between our plates.

We dropped in for a 7 piece cooked breakfast ,covid regs firmly in place Tables wiped down and sprayed as soon as customers leave . Friendly and helpful staff . A great selection of hot foods to choose from . The portions had our plates full . with generous portions of bacon .We were in about 10.20 with a small queue ,by the time we left the place was buzzing . Well done to management and staff

Visited the cafe today, could not have received better service from the two young girls behind the counter they went the extra mile for me and my family even when the cafe was extremely busy. I later enquired with another member of staff the young girls names which were Lauren and Nicole. Food and service was excellent.

I visited here with two friends recently for coffee and cake. The Covid safety precautions are still excellent and the tables etc are constantly being cleaned we will be back.
