Always pop in for lunch from time to time - and there is always something imaginative on the menu and tasty.. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. Thank you Delice.

I ordered a salad nicoise which was described as being made with green beans and potatoes. Salad nicoise can be made with a variety of ingredients, but when it states green beans on the menu I expected more than 2!! The lettuce was yellow and I had one small new potato cut into 4. Also on the plate were 3 thin slices of tomato and half the contents of a tin of tuna dumped in the middle. The menu stated this came with bread. When this didn’t arrive I asked for bread and the waitress got very defensive and said ‘most people don’t want bread’. I wasn’t even asked. My friend’s chicken and pepper baguette was bearly edible, made with sliced chicken and rotting salad. I would avoid this place.

I visited Cafe Delice for a light lunch today. The food was 'okay' but nothing special. The price was a little high for what was actually served/bought. I think this place definitely needs a revamp. It has been the same for the last 5 years or or so. I have the feeling the owner does not really know what the customer wants, ie service with a smile, good food etc. A real shame as this cafe has such a dominant place in Station Road, Chingford, that it should be doing so much better. Sadly, at the moment, I would not recommend.

This place looks inviting when walking past, with the option of outside seating or inside which is surprisingly spacious. Where it is let down is the staff, we arrived not knowing if there was table service or whether you ordered at the counter – it’s the former. It took a while for the staff to come round with the menus, and then time again before they took the order – one warm baguette and two drinks – the delays then really kicked in, they were not busy and even allowing for them freshly preparing the food it took too long to serve up a mediocre offering not inspiring at all.

Stopped off for a coffee and cookie ordered paid and waited. And waited finally when the only other people in the cafe, who arrived after us, received their order coffee, tea and a cake we knew we had been “forgotten”, we look questioningly at the waitress and she said “would you like to order”, the till receipt said we had waited 20 minutes. Could understand if the cafe was full , it wasn’t. As we were waiting for someone from the station we left as we couldn’t wait another twenty minutes. Weird!

If your looking for basic breakfast/lunch food then you won't be disappointed. Don't like the fact that the baguettes are served in a long wicker basket, looks nice but I think they are full of germs as it is impossible to clean them. Although they lay the baguette on a napkin the food still touches the basket. Also I found it strange that I have visited this place many times for a quick coffee whilst walking my well behaved dog and they only allow dogs in the small seated area at the front of the cafe yet they have a lovely courtyard out the back which is quite small but people rarely sit there but they don't allow dogs there. This did annoy me when I visited without my dog and sat inside the cafe with my friend, whilst we were eating breakfast a lady on the next table decided to lay her baby on the floor and change the baby's dirty nappy while I was eating my breakfast. Yuck !

This is a nice quiet place to have a catch up with a friend over a tea/coffee and a cake or as in the case this week for lunch. I also buy baguettes there to eat at home from time to time and the occasional cake too.

Used to come here a fair bit, and I'll still come if I'm looking for somewhere quiet. It seems to have been left in the hands of a few teenagers who don't really care, and that's fatal for any eatery - good customer service is ESSENTIAL. The well-off customers have fled either to the Belgique further down the high street, or up the hill to Butlers' Retreat. If the Café Delice wants to survive, it needs a good manager to lick the staff into shape, it needs to do a decent brunch menu and it needs dragging into this century please!

We went in to have coffee and a baguette as my parents come here once a month. I had a chicken baguette that was off and when I queried this I got told that I don’t like chicken the attitude of the person was horrendous. I know that I will never eat in there again and my parents will no longer eat in there. I will also be writing a letter of complaint

The staff are really lovely quite pricey for a cafe but most cafes are these days. they welcome families so great if you have children and it is always busy. I love their bagels!

This is a lovely café that serves good coffee and the best croissants for miles around (they also do baguettes and other snacks and cakes). On a warm day you can sit out at the front or in the rear patio area, or if it's cold you can sit in the conservatory area or in the main part of the café. Staff are always friendly. Free newspapers available

Still no coffee. Machine broken again. Had to have breakfast with iced water. Not good on a cold day. I know I could have had a more expensive, cold drink, but I didn't fancy an alcoholic drink with my breakfast before 9am-, or even orange juice. It was a cold day, and I wanted a coffee. The pub says they are not allowed another machine. The existing one is always breaking down. Obviously they are not going to get an engineer out early on a Sunday morning. But a new machine would save the cost of engineer call-outs and be under guarantee

Have been using this pub on regular basis for many years. The last 3 visits over the last month have disappointed. The pub is managed by the 'Wild Card Brewery' folk and has had NO Cask Bitters or Pale Ales available for the whole of the last month. Wild Card Brewery is less than a mile away. You couldn't make this up!
