Cafe Bilboe in South Kesteven

Our first visit to this lovely cafe, great menu choice, was difficult to chose what to have to be honest. Went for a delicious jacket potato with melted cheese, and a New Yorker sandwich plus tea for two, the homemade cakes looked wonderful, but we didn’t have room, maybe next time. Didn’t have to wait long for drinks or food, all delivered with a smile, you can tell the folks working there are in their “happy place” seldom seen/felt nowadays. We’ll certainly re-visit this 5 star establishment, thanks again 😊

Excellent friendly service with good prices and a broad range of food options. Clean and fairly quiet..no annoying music! The coffee is good, the details (such as the sealed napkin and knife combo) thoughtful and sensible. The chairs are comfortable, the tables clean.

A beautiful little cafe with excellent customer service, friendly workers and delicious food and drink. The Kings and Queens breakfasts are exquisite. Keep you filled up for the day!! The only downside is the leather napkin holders! These need to go!! Old fashioned and dated! Will definitely visit next time I am working in Grantham. Thanks for having me.

Fabulous full english breakfast that hit a treat for the 3 hour journey tat followed. Sausages and bread, great choice to complement the rest. Friendly staff and a busy little place. we got there a few minutes after opening and only just get a table. A compliment to the good food and service no doubt. Will visit again if nearby for sure

Grantham's hidden gem ...lovely cafe serving a variety of food and drink , there are tables inside and out .The food is fantastic and never disappoints , the staff are competent and knowledgeable on the foods they serve . Give this cafe a go you won't be disappointed. 5*

I haven’t visited the Kings Walk Cafe in easily 12 years and feel the name is incorrect. This cafe is ran like a high end restaurant. Amazing table service, polite and efficient staff and the man who I presume is the manager/owner is giving just the right amount of attention to the customers. Food checks came fast enough to remedy the potential issues but slow enough for me to actually start to eat. However the checks were not needed as the food was exactly what I ordered, hot and nicely presented. The prices are more than reasonable. There’s a great atmosphere, partly due to the clean, nicely decorated and lit interior but mainly due to the staff that couldn’t do enough to ensure I had a nice experience. Having working in hospitality there’s a saying that it’s very easy to leave a bad review but you have to do something exceptional for someone to go out of their way to leave a good review. I will be returning, this is certainly one of the better if not best Dinning experiences in Grantham. Thank you for making a dull and miserable day feel warm and uplifting!

Even though I live in Grantham, this was the first time visiting this cafe. I brought with me a visiting friend from Vietnam. The ambience is friendly and relaxed and the service prompt and attentive. My visitor enjoyed the latte and my bacon sandwich delivered. The bacon was crispy and plentiful. We will return....

We came for breakfast and it certainly did not disappoint ! My husband had the kings breakfast and I had the queens, we also shared some black pudding and hash browns! High quality ingredients and cooked to perfection! The bacon crisp and spot on! Would highly recommend!! Great service - very friendly and efficient. My husband really rated his Oat Latte!! A wonderful ‘stumble upon’ moment. I was wondering in Grantham (not local) looking for somewhere to eat. Very glad this is where I found myself! Kings walk cafe is so welcoming, full of polite, friendly, helpful staff and an array of delicious offerings for breakfast, lunch and cake, alongside a plentiful offering of hot & coke drinks! I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning

On our way from Germany to the Lake District we had a breakfast stopover in this nice and cosy place. Service fine, food and coffee as well, extra-wishes were implemented, when in the area will come back !

Ordered a panini chicken bacon cheese and pesto, took 10 minutes to wait for it and then I got it open and the chicken was missing. Gutted cos the place was nice and the staff seemed friendly and bubbly.

Had a Sunday breakfast here. Large outdoor area and spacious inside too. Friendly service and large choice of breakfast foods. I had a cheese and mushroom omelette and my partner had a sausage sandwich, both delicious and well presented. Outdoor is dig friendly.

Stopped on our way up north for breakfast and it was the only one opened. Lovely staff and service although it was a bit short staffed and waited a bit . Would recommend as a stopover the omelette was lovely

This is a welcoming place with a good menu full of freshly cooked meals, not the usual rubbish that’s crops up everywhere. I had a lovely omelette and the children had Paninis, I would certainly come here again

Popped in for breakfast on our way to a holiday in Norfolk. Our first family meal out since lockdown. Excellent COVID-19 precautions being taken with a one way system, hand sanitizer and table service provided. We ordered coffees and cooked breakfast items. The food came really quickly. We had a spillage of milk, and the lovely proprietress didn’t hesitate to help and offered our daughter a further drink. The whole establishment has a wonderful feel and the friendly welcome and excellent food make me certain of giving Kings Walk a five star recommendation.

Having re opened today it was like they had never been away. The place was immaculate and the food fantastic. All the new rules and regulations were observed and the staff were all very well drilled. Friendly and professional, can not recommend highly enough.

I ordered the beef burger and extra chilli dip. 100% Aberdeen Angus it may have been, lean it was. However it was overcooked and a big disappointment because of it being dry and tough as a result. Such a waste of quality beef. The dip was delicious, but 2 or 3 teaspoons of it, half-filling an egg-cup size pot,for £2.50, well this is poor value in my opinion. Tiger chips were excellent taste. Served in a vertical container/cup is something I don't really care for, and a few more would have been most welcome. However, some of my colleagues had the full English and these looked tremendous, the look and volume made me wish I had ordered this too. They were well delighted.The restaurant is clean, welcoming, and buzzing downstairs. Upstairs is clean but a little bleak. Staff were very helpful, and smiley, which I liked a lot.

Fantastc breakfast, great choice of food wether its for breakfast or lunch. Staff very polite. Service quick. Milkshakes the best around. Definately visit again.

Just over a year ago I worked nearby and would get a jacket potato with cheese most days - always hot and tasty. At that time I would have given the cafe 5/5. Around a month ago I was walking past mid-morning and fancied a bacon sandwich, especially as the takeaway menu categorically states crispy bacon. So popped in and ordered a bacon sandwich on white. Got home (about 3 minutes walk away), opened the foil to find a sandwich made with multi seeded bread and bacon that had barely seen a pan (if you look at the photo you can see the unrendered white fat sticking out the bottom right of the bread). Today had stuff to do in town and then a busy afternoon planned so decided to get a jacket potato with cheese to takeaway - especially as only had good ones before. Got home - as I say, only about 3 minutes walk away - and opened up the box to something that bore no resemblance to the potatoes that I’ve always had from there before. Minimal topping and I had turned down the option of having it melted at the cafe as even in these few minutes the heat of the potato should have started to melt the cheese - but the cheese was still in it’s solid, unmelted state. On cutting into the potato I found out why. Although parts of the potato were hot, the majority was tepid at best. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky but based on my last two experiences I can not recommend this cafe.

We had arranged to meet someone here who was arriving by train from London and we had driven down from Doncaster. From photo's we had seen it seemed a nice cosy place to wait over a coffee on a dreary Autumn day. It proved correct. On walking in the door we were greeted with smiles from staff and from a couple whom we took to be regulars. We explained we were waiting for someone else to join us but would have a coffee and it proved to be the best coffee we had all day of our visit to Grantham. We had intended to move on once our friend enjoyed her coffee but after looking at the menu we decided to stay for lunch and so glad we did. The chicken salad was plentiful with a lovely selection of salad and veggies and lots of moist chicken. The beef panini and bacon, brie panini were both cooked to perfection, moist inside with a crispy crust. All excellent value and served with a smile.We couldn't have chosen a better place to meet and eat lunch. Thank you to your excellent team.

Belvoir Cricket Club descended upon Mark and Leza at relatively short notice. The welcome, the food and the service were absolutely fantastic !! I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Thank you and your team for everything you did for us.....

Taking my 91 year old mum for something to eat and drink can be hard with bad sight and hearing, but we found this little gem, and a gem it certainly is,an extensive menu,fast service,fantastic food and great drinks make for a real treat, mum had a lovely bacon sandwich on crusty fresh bread,and I had an omelette with chorizo and chicken complete with amazing salad and dressing,a coffee and tea, kept hot with tea cosy made for a great meal, and the price is very good as well.

First time users.Very good service and quick fulfilment of our orders.Happy to change or adjust items on the menu.Drinks were good quality which made me order a sausage sandwich.....superb Lincolnshire sausages.

Mark and Leza invited customers for mulled wine and “pigs in duvets” baps. Like everything they do it was done with professionalism and total class. They took over Cafe Bilboe, (now Kings Walk Cafe) and everything that went with that name in Grantham (Mr and Mrs Bilboe were synonymous with fantastic food), they have taken 18 months to do their “own thing” !! They should be very proud of what they have achieved. The Cafe looks amazing, the food is fantastic, and the owners and staff very welcoming !! Keep it up, wonderful.....

It was a very nice lunch, had American Sandwich with a very fresh salad on the side. It was delicious. My hubby had an English breakfast and it was very nice too. Our 1year old daughter was offered a high chair with a tray (rarity in restaurants), very clean (also a rarity). Excellent coffee and tea. The sacks to keep kids busy is a brilliant idea, our daughter loved the tea set. A gem in Grantham, will be back.

This seems to be popular cafe in Grantham. We had a lunch of burgers (minted lamb off the specials board and 1/4 pounder with bacon & cheese). Very tasty with a good cup of tea.

Cafe Bilboe is always excellent with friendly staff, great food and and easy atmosphere.The coffee is the best I know in the area.

We had a wedding reception there, Leza the owner decorated the room for us beautifully and set out a selection of such lovely foods, catering for vegans and children and also supplied music. Very friendly people and lovely service. I would recommend them to anyone.

Went in for lunch with friends. This is a beautiful place, the food was all fresh and so tasty. There was plenty of choice in the menu. The staff extremely friendly with excellent service. The decor is beautiful and it’s very clean. Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again.

We've been regulars here for a number of years - both under the Bilboe's ownership and now with Leza's gang. The menu is wide-ranging and the food is consistently top-notch. Special mention for the sandwiches; the excellent paninis; and (most recently) the positively naughty pancakes. For us, the key point is - the friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome (which everyone gets, customers both new and old). The interior decor is a work-in-progress but that doesn't detract at all. We often pop into other cafes around the town - but always gravitate back to Bilboes!

Best coffee I have had in ages! Great service, a really tasty toasted tea cake, a friendly atmosphere - what more could you ask for?

Leza, Mark and their team did a fabulous job in catering for my daughter’s Christening party. Leza and Mark were very accommodating, ensuring the afternoon was seamless and hassle free. I Would highly recommend the Cafe and their services to my family and friends and will definitely use them again in the future for further celebrations.

A lovely cafe with excellent staff.

I use this little restaurant quite often. food is of excellent quality with pleasant service staff. Today I witnessed an extra special touch, children were offered little bags containing various types of small toys to keep them happy during their time in the restaurant. very nice idea, the children had to hang the toys back on the peg before leaving. so sweet.

Four or five visits on so I can vouch for the consistency of not just the food preparation and ingredients but also the customer service. Good coffee, home baked cakes and an extensive menu including a quality breakfast menu, served all day for late risers, like myself. Cheerful, efficient and timely service complements the offering - an area all too often not sustained in local eateries.

I have been visiting Cafe Bilboe for several years. When I heard it had been sold I was very sceptical, as the name “Bilboe” in Grantham is linked to superb food and has been for many years. The new owners, Liza and Mark are absolutely fantastic and are really stamping their own ideas on the Cafe. The food, service and surroundings are fantastic. I wish them all the best with this venture, Merry Christmas.... The photographs show the thought that has gone in to just a basic breakfast !! Love it....

Been here few times and each time the food is freshly prepared, you don’t have to wait long either.

I really enjoyed my meal and loved the milkshake specials and have started to become a regular ever since. The food is cooked very well and the staff are very polite and no job or detail is too much for them to perform. They even went the extra mile on two occasions to cook me a brunch that was not menu available at both times. How lovely is that. Not saying I expect this every time but that is a very good of them.

Compared to Costa down the road this place is a joy! Lovely room. Think food offerings could go,up a notch and this place would be great. Pleasant enough staff. Good scone with trimmings. Did the job! Place just seemed to not quite know what it's supposed to be? Could be fab if re-thought out.

Used to love coming here, first time back after it got taken over. Had eggs royale, but the toasted muffin was a big flat cob and the hollandaise sauce was congealed. Didnt taste nice at all. When mentioned this could hear the staff from the back demanding it was a muffin just larger. But got a comp pot of tea. May call back as it may of been a one off. Shame.

I'm a regular visitor of Cafe Bilboe. It is under new ownership and is still as good as it ever was. Leza, the new owner is very friendly and together with her staff, are very welcoming. The food is superb and Leza is very open minded to offer new options to the menu. Well done, keep up the good work !!

Promptly served at the door and sat at a table. Server gave us around 5 minutes before coming to initially ask for orders which was perfect timing. Ordered cheese and bacon burger, smoked salmon salad and pulled pork sandwich.Great food great prices would return.

First time visit. Pleasant friendly staff and a good "pulled pork" sandwich in a ciabatta roll. I probably wouldn't have it in a ciabatta next time as the filling just fell out from all sides. A wide selection on the menu but half was considered breakfast, so by 1.30 pm it was too late.I will be coming again though.

This is a lovely, friendly cafe with great food and very friendly staff. We regularly visit with family and friends, including young children, who are made most welcome. The food is great and the service always comes with a smile. This is an excellent place for a quick cuppa after shopping or a bite to eat with friends. Definitely recommended.

WOULDNT DREAM OF GOING BACK THERE IN A MILLION OF YEARSSSSS....... which is a shame as been there so many of times. Absolutely disgusting/rude manager! Never in my life have I been spoken to like that's. I am a 30year old mother who's worked since the age of 16! And made to feel like scum and can't control my child. I feel so upset how a retail worker can have such an opinion on me and my child and feels to need to..... I would understand if my child was disturbing other customers and running /shouting around the cafe but my 3 child sat and didn't move off his seat. Soon as me, my friend and our children (both aged 3) walked in the manger gave us a dirty look. We sat down and she came over for our order with no manners what so ever. My little boy asked her for a cheese sandwich please and she looked at me and said whattttttt! My 3 year old is a well speaker/polite and she was just being funny. While we was waiting like any normal children my little boy and his friend was talking to each other they was a little loud but me and my friend said talk quietly as it's a small cafe. There was about 4 people in the cafe , she then come up and said you need to tell THEM to be quite people are complaining and control them. We was both shocked. Other people in there was smiling at us and wasn't bothered , Not one person went up to her but we continued to get dirty looks. I felt so uncomfortable and didn't want to eat my lunch, we ended up leaving some and didn't even drink our drinks. She didn't come over to us and say please could you ask them toBe abit quite.... no manners nor customer service skills , there's a way of speaking to people especially when there paying for there service.We decided to go as it felt so uncomfortable and she was telling people to go upstairs as they was to nosy. When we went up to pay (even tho I didn't want to) she then said them boys are not welcome in here again , there uncontrollable and you can'tControl your children in a angry manner. I am a professional who works with patient everyday , I wouldn't dream of speaking to patients like that!!! It's disgusting how she can be like that to paying costumers.She said in a stern way... jacket, sandwich and a drink! No please or thank you. I have never known anything like it I was so shocked, I still am. I feel so down about this. My little boy is well mannered and does get told off if he is naughty and I do have control. She has made me feel worthless and like scum. The way she spoke to me/my friend and our children/the looks is beyond me. My own mother has never spoke to me like this. I would advise you if have children do not go there!

Was absolutely mortified of how a young family were treated in your cafe this morning, you need to put a ''NO CHILDREN WELCOME' sign on your door, poor little lads were only talking too!! DISGUSTING, fancy banning them!

I am absolutely disgusted of the way my daugher and friend and two children were treated today at Bilboes cafe in grantham the manager was so disrespectful to them ,the children are three years old and she said they were misbehaving and kicking chair and tables and they were barred from coming again ,why did she let them eat the food and take there money if they were causing such a commotion,well I think the manager needs a course on how to speck to people and managerial skills,also I have spoken to many people of grantham and they feel the same.i even phone you because how upset my daughter was and you was so rude it was unbelievable as a manager I'm truly shocked of your behaviour .

Recommend the food, sandwich choice fantastic and many other meals on offer. Nicely set out if a little cramped. Visited on a hot day and the cafe was hot and stuffy as none of the windows open or air con . The meals looked great and the ingredients were of good quality and the cafe was clean, no sticky tables or menus.

We were recommended Cafe Bilboe by a lovely lady in the town's museum, and we were so glad. The cafe is set back from the road with a lovely courtyard area outside where you can sit on warmer days. The food was excellent and very good value, and the service was very friendly and prompt. We would definitely go back.

Had lunch twice in April 2017 - excellent food and service on both occasions. Service is quick and efficient with waiting kept to an absolute minimum. Waitress always serves with a smile even on a busy day with appalling weather outside. The soup and a sandwich option is great value for money and a quick lunch (homemade soup) The cooked meals are equally good value for money and prepared with the same commitment to presentation and satisfying content. Will go again soon.

The food is so fresh, with a good choice on the menu & they were helpful in adapting to my vegan needs. The service is attentive, & on our 3 visits in the year or so since we discovered it, can't be faulted. Keep up the good work! From reading the other reviews I am very disappointed that my visit here did not meet up to the expectations. I was not pleased with the customer service or the quality of the food. Due to the other reviews I'm going to put this down to a one off issue but I will not be returning

Worked as a silver service waitress in 1987,so was lovely to visit and say hi to the owners.Had lovely soup and a sandwich and green tea.Lovely cakes and home made scones.Lots of local produce available to buy.Plenty of room to sit and vast menu to choose from .

We had lunch here recently and we couldn't fault the food and prompt service. We will definitely go here again.

So this place is my mum's favourite cafe and I can definitely see why. It has a great selection of food and drinks, quick service and the atmosphere is really cosy. Like many cafes, ordering is done at the counter (informing them of your table number) rather than someone coming to your table.My one niggle is that it is on the more expensive side of cafes - toasted tea cake was £2.15, jacket potato with cheese £4.95 (as noted on menu, didn't order). In fact two drinks and a toasted tea cake came to £7, which I didn't think was value for money - as noted, you had to order at the counter and we also had to go back to the counter to pay.Was the quality of food good? Yes, no doubt - but I didn't really feel I got value for money. There are other cafes in Grantham I will try out before coming back to this one again.

This is the third Christmas lunch I have had here. Excellent. You can have either 2 or 3 courses. Everything is freshly made & served, no waiting because you are given a set time. Delicious.

A lovely venue for coffee or meal. The staff are friendly and polite. Good value for money with a good selection of both drinks and food.

Went in for a quick coffee, looked at the price so decided against it as there are so many other places around the location considerably better priced, didn't want to appear strange so I picked up a small bottle of banana yazoo, the smallest one. It was £1.50!!! 3 times more expensive than the shop across the road! Avoid this place or just throw your money away. It's the same thing.

My Mum and I decided to go to lunch here a few weeks ago as we hadn't been before. Needless to say, it was that good we have returned. Lovely little cafe with indoor, outdoor seating and takeaway. The bacon butties are definitely the best in town! Fab place for lunch, tea, snack or just a drink. Staff friendly and good prices. Cakes looked delicious. One of our top places to eat in town.

We stayed in Grantham a week visiting family. They recommended Cafe Bilboe to us on our second day there, and we had breakfast every morning until we left. We loved it that much. There coffee was wonderfully hot. Loved their eggs on toast with bacon and their scones were delicious. Almost as good as my Granny's. I would highly recommend Cafe Bilboe.

This is a splendid Café in the heart of Grantham. A great place to visit for a Coffee, a snack a lunch - or their speciality breakfast. This is very well presented and is great value for money.

My mum and I decided to go for lunch here as I'd never been before. We browsed the menu and I chose the pâté, it was absolutely delicious and served with thickly sliced toast, I would have happily eaten more if I could have fitted it in! For seconds I had the chocolate mousse cake, this was very sickly and a little dry, but would probably be suitable for a chocoholic!Although the food was delicious our trip could have been made better if the staff were a bit more friendly!However I will be going back just for the pâté!

Lovely little cafe with tasty home made cakes. The coffee and walnut cake with my latte was luscious. The staff were really pleasant and the ambience was very peaceful. You can always sit outside if the weathers good. The menu offers a wide range of snacks and meals.

Having had lunch out with my manager, what a pleasant experience. We sat in the sun and had toasted sandwich & salad with a large mug of Coffee. service great, staff friendly, a pleasure to visit, will be back

This was a real goldmine to find - tucked away near the St George's Centre, you can miss it if you don't know where it is. Having eaten there several times I can highly recommend. The food is excellent and everything is cooked on the premises, so you may have to wait a while but it is very well worth it. Excellent value for money and the cakes are to die for !They have some outside tables, inside and a few upstairs as well. It looks small but big on value and taste. All the staff are friendly and helpful.They serve a variety of teas/coffees and other drinks. They have high chairs for the children and will accommodate food intolerances. The variety of cakes are delicious and include Gluten free. I can highly recommend their Coffee and Walnut cake - so much so I took an extra piece home with me! Well worth a visit.

I often visit here with an elderly gent. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and can't be more helpful.We always sit outside to have a ciggy and the staff seem happy to serve us out there regardless of the weather.

Got to be the best in town.Visit regularly & always enjoy light snack ,coffee etc.The home made tray bakes are to die for !! try one (or two).Staff are always very welcoming & something from the deli counter is well worth a try.Have tried all the other cafes in town & none can match BilboesJust one little negative - on busy days if you have to eat upstairs unfortunately there is always a 'haze' of greasy spoon air coming from the kitchen that tends to cling to your clothes - please Mr Bilboe get the extractor fan going or shut the kitchen door -other than that you cannot improve WELL DONE

How can someone make soup and a sandwich taste so good? Well, Cafe Bilboe manages it every time. Still a great place to eat (even the subtle background music is good) and relax. Excellent value, good variety, spotlessly clean and fast, efficient service from friendly staff. Don't miss it next time you're in Grantham. Try the soup and sandwich...if you can get there before it all goes! ;)
