We were looking for lunch on a Saturday, when the street market was on and Bridport was packed - this little cafe looked welcoming and we grabbed a table outside in the spring sunshine. What a good choice we made, despite being really busy the staff were so friendly, the coffee was nice and the lovely food arrived surprisingly promptly, given it was rush hour! Thank you - your staff are fab and you have a great cafe - we will definitely come again. The street market is well worth a visit by the way!

Such a lovely little cafe! I often visit here for a decent breakfast or lunch and am never disappointed. A small, local cafe in Bridoort this place offers an excellent variety of snacks and small meals from simple sandwiches up to full on breakfasts with lots of choice in between. Seating is limited inside but there is often space to sit in the mid morning sun outside and chat with friendly.passers by. All food is freshly made/prepared and served by smiling, friendly staff who go out of their way to be helpful. Lots of tasty cakes and treats are on offer if you fancy something light and the cakes are homemade deliciousness! Eat in or take away options both available and prices are very reasonable for a small, independent, local cafe.

I had eaten here a few times without issue..on this occasion it was very disappointing..my wife had a bacon tomato and mushroom sandwich..the bacon portion consisted of half a rasher..my wife was too embarrassed to say anything but I returned 5 minutes after initially leaving and spoke to the member of staff who had served us..Her response consisted of 'Sorry about that' and walked away..if you are going to have a bacon sandwich I suggest you confirm how much bacon will be in it first as half a rasher between two large slices of bread is very poor value.

Talk about overrun, never seen Bridport so busy. The cafes we would have been happy to visit were full. Those with plenty of space we would not go in if paid to do so! Never knew this place existed until I started working right next door!!! Not only do they do takeaway lunches they even hand delivered to our office. Great service, great coffee I have one every time I am in the office and great lunch. I have only sampled the jacket potatos but no fear I will be back for more. Its great to have a local business who put customers at the heart. Small independent places usually make me nervous as I never know whether they will be grumpy or polite but I have to say if you haven't been you won't regret it!

Judge it for what it is, I have described this cafe as excellent because it does exactly what it sets out to do, and does it very well. A good range of cafe staples are on offer, most if not all are freshly prepared. We visited on a busy market day and service was good, they have enough staff to cope. The food we had was very good, those around us seemed similarly satisfied, prices are modest. While we were there one of the staff was dealing with a customer with problems, I was most impresed with the care and patience shown to some one with a problem not of their own making. I look forward to going again the next time I am in Bridport.

Our waitress was superb, managing to serve the whole room so efficiently. To her superb credit she didn't keep coming to our table asking " is everything all right" as we often see these days. Cafe Bean is a tiny cafe in South Street. The coffee is good, but the chocolate brownie cake (sold by the slice with a spoon of clotted cream on the side - and do have it slightly warm) is to die for. Matt says he thinks he found the recipe in a magazine years ago - wherever he found it, he has perfected it If you thought you liked chocolate cake of any kind, try this! Good service, short specials list on the wall (and his homemade soup is always worth a try), and a menu of breakfast, hot and cold sandwiches, jacket potatoes amongst things on offer is worth a few minues to read. Always a smile and a welcome, so we use it regularly. No toilet here (it's just too small to fit one in, but the public toilets are two minutes walk away in South Street car park (where you probably parked your car anyway!).

Good sausage, fresh bread, but, too much bread for the filling , or not enough filling for the bread. No, I don't want sauce thankyou !The accompanying salad garnish was ok but pre dressed with balsamic dressing, a common experience but not ideal for my taste.Sons Panini was described as 8 1/2 out of 10 . Tea was also good and the total cost rather remarkably low.AS I said, I wanted to like this place more, but don't like over dry food. Maybe a simple buttering of the bread would do the trick ??But, I would revisit Café Bean again.

This small café in South Street offers a simple menu of sandwiches, paninis, salads etc, but absolutely cannot be faulted on quality. After a friendly welcome from the proprietor, I ordered a sandwich of tuna chunks in mayonnaise on granary bread, and my wife opted for a hot panini of mushrooms, cheddar and green pesto. The café is not licensed, but offers a selection of soft drinks in addition to tea and excellent coffee. I was pleased to see they sold the ginger beer made by the local Palmers brewery, just down the road. My sandwich was gorgeous - a very generous filling of, yes, tuna chunks in mayonnaise, a pleasant change from the usual homogeneous "tuna mayo", between thick slices of deliciously fresh, locally baked granary bread. My wife's panini was equally delicious, she assures me. As seems to be something of a Bridport speciality, this was, once again, simple food got absolutely right by using care and fresh ingredients. Will definitely go again.

Found by mistake wandering around Bridport market . Seating is tight but table are clean and the service is efficient. We had homemade soup and granary bread - which was very good and very satisfying, the bread especially so.Coffee was good and strong overall very good.

Visited the Bean after passing it on my way back from the library. I have never used the cafe before. The cafe is small but they have lots of seating (not sure how if it wouldnt feel a bit crammed if every table was filled. There are no toilets but the public ones are not far.I ordered Diet Coke and Vegetarian Breakfast.Waitress was very pleasant although she never checked back whether everything was OK whilst I was eating my meal.Coke was chilled which was great as weather was very warm today and came in a sealed bottle which is always reassuring.Breakfast arrived and it looked very nice, 2 fried eggs, mushrooms, baked beans, 2 x halves of grilled tomato, 2 x halves of a potato, but didnt taste quite as nice as it looked.......the "wedged potato" was over cooked. There was lots of mushrooms but they were button shrooms and slightly slimy...but then these type of mushrooms can often be like that. The 2 x slices of toast came with 3 x packs of butter and obviously cut from a larger loaf rather than pre-sliced packaged bread which is loverly.I will be trying the cafe again as I am sure I was just unlucky with the potato tasting over cooked etc on this occasion.Fingers X'd for me :-)

This is a delightful little coffee bar and cafe. The food is always tasty and freshly cooked and great value for money. The staff and proprietor, who is also head chef, are jolly, welcoming and efficient. Go there for great breakfasts, paninis, sandwiches and soups - all home made from locally sourced ingredients.

I regularly pop in to this lovely little place which feels comfortable enough to sit and eat alone. The service is friendly and the food is fresh and delicious with generous portions. Definitely a good place to get a decent home-cooked snack.

The landlord today served me the most delicious coffee. The best coffee I have had this year. The pub was fantastic. Lovely decor and spotlessly clean. I look forward to visiting again soon.

A small hidden Cafe hidden down a side alleyway, delivers a big smile through it's food and warm welcoming hosts. They make delicious salads, homemade crustless quiche, large saucer style macaroons, homemade sausage rolls and vege rolls. It's the only place in Dorchester that i feel the food is good for you, cooked on the spot there that day, great coffee and choice of tea's etc. Seating is limited and very sadly due to it's size of premises maybe closed due to Covid, please double check. They have worked so hard and deserve all our support

Sunday lunch was not very good. Waiter ate food and drank at the bar constantly. Emptied bins and didn't wash his hands. Chef sat at the bar in between orders. Food arrived and was tasteless, meat tough and when asked for cranberry sauce the waiter arrived with a plastic tub to serve it!
