Café Bar at Calshot Activities Centre in New Forest

Woman at till was mean and made my daughter cry. Passive aggression was through the roof. And the roof was very high in this place (it had a climbing wall).

Understaffed, waited 20 mins for 1 coffee, no apology.

Bog standard cafe. Obviously has a captive audience being on the beach. Nothing very positive and nothing very negative either, apart from the terrible mainstream bottled beer choice. E.g. nothing local here

No vegetarian or vegan options available. Not even chips.

Kitchen closed 2 hours early lady behind counter was rude and there were chips in the back that they wouldn't serve

Got shouted at for not having a top on when the sign wasn’t clear on the way in and the food is overpriced

Been here a few times for breakfast. It’s hit and miss if they are actually doing a full breakfast menu or a restricted menu. (I think it staff related) it’s very frustrating to get there and find out it’s a restricted menu! Food it’s self is fairly good but the staff can be very mixed some very peasant and some very curt. Need to get enough staff so it becomes dependable you can actually get a full English.

Went there today and things have changed. Prices very high, Pasty expensive and chips £4 for about 10 thin chips. The coffee was ok tho. Prices gone up for the captive tourist trade at Calshot..?

Great location, nice placed spoilt by staff who whinged all the time and complained loudly that they had to serve customers

Not the greatest experience. Didn't have enough sausage rolls, cook should be told when running low and do more. Asked for sausage roll and chips and a steak slice and chips instead. Steak slice and sausage roll came first with no sign of the chips. I asked them a few times that we wanted to eat our food together, their response was "you should of said at the till" I did I asked for sausage roll and chips and a steak slice and chips. Who wants their food to be delivered 10 minutes of each other ?

Oh dear, one of my favourite seaside cafes has really gone totally downhill. I visited today and the entire lunch menu choice was either a pasty, two types of small sausage roll or a bagel. That's it, no soup, no cooked food and no sandwiches or rolls. Really sad as we have so enjoyed being there for lunch over many years in the past, today was a total disappointment especially as a simple small sausage roll and a coffee was around £8

poor customer service, felt like all staff were on their first day. very reluctant to provide for allergens with very limited option.

Came here after a walk from Ashlet creek to Calshot, a nice tea break was needed before the walk back. Seating here is both inside and out, some good choices of cake to choose from,

Popped in whilst walking around the beach for a drink and some food. Friendly staff and good food. Not busy though.

Lovely breakfast nice to be able to take our dog in with us. Definitely recommended, we will be frequent visitors now!

Expensive and poor service- had to wait 20 mins for two coffees.

Terrible service and over priced. Mother’s Day last year perfect, visited twice since then and won’t be going back again. 90 mins for a kid’s sausage and chips meal through lack of staff (no management) so short staffed on 2nd visit and 20 minutes for a coffee on our 3rd visit , the place was pretty much empty so no excuse just forgot my order and collected it when I was leaving . Didn’t realise food stopped being served at 3pm so had half a ham sandwich a kitkat and a forgotten coffee for £10 👀. I’m a local and it was frustrating enough to wait that long for 1 coffee ,hate to think what it’s like in the summer time

Calshot cafe has been taken over by HCC and they have amazing home cakes and freshly cook meals, I was overwhelmed by the quality, really lovely experience !

Nice place to visit, a little pricey maybe, but home-made food looks like a healthier option. Let down mainly not advising parts of the meal are out of stock until it is presented to you and the higher than average prices. Overall not bad however for a lunchtime meal, chiefly because of the great views you get here.

Good potato and bacon soup. Really poor/ overpriced chips. Good double cappuccino. Could do with a few smiles though.

Checked online at 4pm to make sure cafe was open. Confirmed it was open until 5.30pm. Arrived at 4.30pm to find out that they stop serving hot food at 3pm. Maybe explains why we were the only customers in there at that time.

Just visited this afternoon after a previous disappointing visit. Ordered two Hot Chocolates which were neither Hot or Chocolatey. Tasted like Yaks breast milk. The young lad who served us had the personality and wherewithal of a damp oven glove. Quite possibly the worst Cafe experience we have had.

We visited the Cafe Bar at Calshot Activities Centre a couple of weekends when my son was taking part in a climbing competition at the climbing wall at the Calshot Activity Centre. It was quite busy but the service was good and friendly with a variety of food drinks available. My order was taken and processed quite quickly although there was a bit of a wait as the person in front of me had placed a large order! Generally very happy and will certainly use the Cafe Bar again when I'm next at Calshot Activity Centre.

We visited the activity centre cafe for a late lunch (2.30pm) and was greeted with what can best be described as a bomb site. I was so shocked I have posted the pics. We were hoping for a jacket potato for lunch but, alas, there was a wait of 40 minutes for food so just had drinks. Waited 15 minutes for tepid 'hot' chocolate and coffee. Not a pleasant experience.

Lovely location, BUT the mug I had my tea in was quite dirty, I didn’t complain because I had a full English breakfast to come. The breakfast was very nice and plentiful. We ate inside this morning as it was a overcast. The seating outside looked clean and comfortable but under and around the tables was very untidy (could do with a broom). Overall a enjoyable time had there was good and maybe the mug was just an oversight.

Nice cozy place with good choice of British breakfast classics.

No option for 0 stars so 1 it is. Where do I even begin 🥴 .. £2.60 for one small picnic chocolate bar. £2.80 for one small yazoo milkshake. Slowest service ever experienced. We counted 7 teenage-looking staff squished behind the counter.. none of them seem to know what was going on or how to use the till or kitchen. Customers kept going back to the till asking where their food was or that they received the wrong order. Fridge doors wouldn’t shut cause the seals were hanging loose. Coffee machine had no cups. Stains all over the floor. Would recommend future visitors to take their own food and drinks so you don’t waste time here. Shocking.

Freshly cooked to order breakfast with great views. Plenty of car parking.

Breakfast was a bit cold which is unusual as it's usually too hot to get anywhere near!

Super nice mid September morning and a great surprise visit to Calshot Spit. We had a brief walk from the car park down the pebble beach towards the Castle and former hangers. We noticed the cafe bar was open so popped in for a bite to eat and a coffee. We both had full English breakfast, I had a latte and my friend went with a tea. Generally speaking very enjoyable. Will definitely revisit again. Polite service and good food…

Dog friendly! Can take them in with you. 5 stars for that alone, especially as I arrived just as storm began. Good coffee and snacks. Nice staff. And great views.

The menu here was never great, but it just got worse. There are now no proper meals. Cheese and tomato toastie looked like the least worse option but was soggy white bread and tasteless cheese. Didn't risk the pizzas but they looked woeful. Feels like a bad cafe you used to find in the 70s. I'd rather eat in a hospital canteen. The service is friendly enough, but whoever is responsible for the menu just doesn't like food or nutrition.

very limited "Winter" menu..staff lovely but menu not what it usually is..very processed sandwiches for toasting..shame really..still....there's always the "lookout" at Lepe..!!😊

Food is not the best but I really like it since it’s not far from the kitesurfing location. Staff is also super nice and it is very cheap

Nice experience, friendly staff, fantastic location particularly on nice day with clear open solent views. Close passing shipping activity creates and added interest. The cafe is open to the public not just the activity centre users. The meals are very good standard but it is cafe not a restaurant. Great location for an evening walk.

This is a regular stop on one of my motorbike runs. I always have the full english as its one of the best breakfasts iv had by far. Staff are lovely and very freindly

Coffee is ok,cakes are generally pretty good,cheesy chips good . Now for the negative burgers look great but are bad most other mains are disappointing

Brilliant cafe at reasonable prices,the views ove the sea to the isle of Wight are lovely and you can go here and watch the cruise ships leave southampton,its also inside a huge activity centre so plenty to see
