This used to be a firm favourite when visiting the local area, but we were so disappointed on recent visits to find that the once delicious scones had nearly halved in size! We've been back several times, just in case it was a one-off baking error, but sadly have to report that the once wonderful fruit scones are now a shadow of their former glory. Service can be rather variable, as can the wait for delivery of food - but the old chapel has been converted beautifully. Please, please bring back those excellent scones!

Went here this morning for a New Year’s Eve brunch with my husband. Wow fantastic value and the ingredients were excellent quality 2 petit breakfast £11.00 included toast and filter coffee. The ingredients are sourced locally from a butter in Brigg my poached egg was perfect ( not often I say that). The volunteers work hard and this is a great addition to Caistor.

My local coffee shop. But they do so much more. Great lunches - paninis, soups, sandwiches etc. Fantastic home made cakes and scones. The full breakfast really will set you up for the day. Very friendly staff (many of them volunteers). One of the best places in the area for a coffee or a snack. Great place to watch the world go by from the terrace on a warm day

Homemade food! Freshly made drinks! Friendly, cheerful service! What else could you want?! A number of tables inside and a few outside the front too. A popular haunt for road cyclists and motorbikers.. and have found Sunday's a little more busy due to this. I went on at 11.30 on a Tuesday. Steady trade but room to choose where to sit. I had a large filter coffee with cream, and a toasted tea cake, whilst my colleague had a pot of tea. Came to just under £5. Fresh coffee and a little jug of cream. Perfect. Tea cake toasted nicely and a generous serving of butter in a dish. We sat outside due to the lovely weather and everything was brought out to us. A smashing cafe with so many cakes, and snacks on offer.. somewhere to while away the hours and put on a few pounds!

The hospitality I received was second to none and they very kindly asked if I was ok. Lovely staff here and a very very very big thank you for their help and kindness. Thank you and I am very grateful they helped me use my phone with the problems I was having today. One of the staff put me in a quiet corner which was lovely and wished me good luck with sorting things out. From 10am until closing time I was inside their cafe and they helped me massively. A big thank you to all staff in the cafe and upstairs in the library area they couldn't have been more helpful and kind to me. Thank you once again best of luck kind regards Miss Scarrott

I called in at the cafe for a lunch with friends. I had seen the TV programme on the project to make the building a community facility some years ago. I was very impressed as not only is lunch available, but also crafts for sale, a community facility upstairs and wifi. There is an historical interpretation section plus a good range of information leaflets and a town map. I had tea with a vegetarian pannini which was lovely and well presented. Other savouries are available plus cakes, so also a good place to stop for morning coffee or tea and cake. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient. We were served quickly despite the cafe being very busy. The atmosphere was great. I will certainly return!

I visited Caistor for the Arts and Crafts Festival, as I do every year and as usual I made a beeline for the Café at No. 28. I asked for an Americano coffee and a slice of the chocolate and raspberry cake, which looked delicious. The older lady in charge apologised in advance that there would be a short delay as they were short-staffed. I like to think that I am a fairly patient person, but after sitting for 30-minutes, and with my bus due imminently (and only one bus every two hours) I was starting to get a little twitchy. The final straw was my seeing three customers being served their drinks and food when they had entered the premises AT LEAST 15-minutes after I had (they had asked if they could use one of the chairs at my table, so I knew exactly when they had arrived). I stood up, went to the counter and explained that I had been waiting for half an hour, that if I waited any longer I would miss my bus and that they could KEEP the money I had pre-paid for the non-existent coffee and cake ~ this was in the hope that my cash-for-nothing could be put towards paying for some extra staff! I understand that the staff in the Café at no. 28 are volunteers, but considering that the venue was packed, I would have thought that even volunteers might have noticed that I had been sitting for some considerable length of time at a table which was totally empty of any food or drink - even if it was only for them to comment to each other that if I left, there would be room for more customers. So - the food looked great, as it usually does, but I can't make any comment about the TASTE of the food, as I was not actually served any.

The staff at this little café deserve to very proud of themselves - it is an absolute delight. The coffee is delicious and the cakes are fantastic. We've been a few times and had various light snacks with coffee but the Victoria sponge we had on Saturday was the best ever (and I've sampled a fair few!).The staff here are always lovely and friendly, the café is clean and inviting with lots of craft bits and bobs about the place and papers to read. Up the stairs is a library that is combined as a museum with all sorts of fascinating exhibits from the local area. Oh, and the loos are lovely and clean, too.We love to sit outside watching the world go by -on Saturday this amounted to about 3 cars, one pony & trap and a gang of Swifts wheeling about overhead. What a pleasure to sit there in the sun. It's a great place to stop off - it's not far off the A46 (take the turn off at the bottom of town and the café is about half way between there and the market place). Easy to park in the road nearby. Very welcoming to everyone and popular with walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists etc.The friendliness of this little café is catching - you do find people get chatting together whilst there. Lovely.

This centre was refurbished and opened thanks to a lottery grant, and was featured on a Sarah Beeny television programme shown the week before we moved to Caistor! It is a combined cafe, library and heritage and arts centre: within one visit you can drink coffee, have a meal, borrow or browse books, browse the internet (either on free wifi or on computer terminals within the library), view information about the history of Caistor, and view a succession of temporary arts exhibitions, and all for free! From time to time, concerts, practical workshops or other events take place, too.We have visited on a number of occasions, often sitting outside overlooking some of the historic sights of Caistor. There is a core menu, supplemented by daily specials, and gorgeous home-made cakes. If you are passing through Caistor, visiting, or if you live here, pop in for lovely food at reasonable prices, served with a friendly smile!

We went to Trent Port for a Christmas dinner/to celebrate my grandparents’ wedding anniversary. The whole team (in particular Kirsty) went above and beyond to make our meal extra special. The food was fabulous and the excellent service made everything even better. They catered for my mum, who is gluten free - they even had an amazing gluten free chocolate fudge cake, so she was even able to have a proper dessert. They also had gluten free gravy too. The meal was also excellent value for money, which is incredible considering the service and the way they catered for different dietary requirements. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening - we’ll be back again very soon!

Came on Friday lunchtime to meet some business colleagues. The food was fantastic and the service great. Although I did feel for the lady working as she seemed to be on her own, this being said she never stopped. Constantly between the bar and taking food out. She came and asked if all was ok and offered us deserts which we declined because the portions are big and we were full up.
